Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

MamaG · 09/01/2008 22:41

oh and password is strawberry

kid · 10/01/2008 07:43

Thursday weigh in for Christmas loss for me is 4 lb off

MamaG, thats not a lot to have gained over Christmas at all, it will soon come off again. I put on twice as much as you, just have 1 more lb to lose so I know you will also be able to lose that gain too. Stick with it.

Diege · 10/01/2008 08:09

2Ib loss for me, which is the max I seem to lose! Pretty pleased, as clothes feel looser too, and I feel more 'awake' somehow! Can't help on the mocha front me23, although it wouldn't surprise me me that it was around that (with milk). I'm still getting over the shock of the skinny lemon muffin from starbucks being 21 syns!!! . Hello and welcome anyway!

Sunshine78 · 10/01/2008 11:25

Lost 3llb but feeling bad as was hoping for more - no pleasing some people!

Any one got any tips/what to eat at a Brewers FAyre pub I'm going out for Sunday lunch and dont want to spoil the good work

katylou25 · 10/01/2008 11:34

I know they do a tomatoey pasta that's prob not to bad on green - could have a side salad with it and avoid the garlic bread!

Or have a steak and jacket potato on red? Or a burger in a bun with no chips just salad?

All of those would be ok syns wise i think??

lurcherlass · 10/01/2008 12:21

Diege, was it you who said you loved your carbs, but didnt mind bland? Try Sainsbury's Vegetable & Lentil Roast, chilled 350g pack, which is free on green. It dosen't have the most exciting taste in the world, but it's quite filling. I'm making SW fishcakes today, will report back

Sunshine78 · 10/01/2008 12:45

Thanks katylou problem is garlic bread is one of my weaknesses but I must be strong!!!

Diege · 10/01/2008 13:08

Thanks LURCHER! Def sounds up my street that one. Will make a chance from the usual baked potato, beans and quorn sausage, although I did push the boat out today and have a quorn burger with it instead (think they are free too?). I'm making the chilli con carne tonight from the '100 Green Recipes' book, and have KIDS byriani planned for tomorrow

Shhhh · 10/01/2008 14:07

right im a newie to this weightloss thread, I have rejoined sw (last went 7 years ago) as have 3 stones of baby weight to loose....

Last week I joined..this morning I weighed in...a loss of.............1 lb. . I know its a loss but im gutted. I expected more..

Help please....!!!! what am I doing wrong. I have stuck to it 100% and feel deflated and like I have failed. .

Diege · 10/01/2008 14:28

SHHH, don't be disheartened, at least it's a loss! For what it's worth, the first week I started back at classes (when I went to class), I've never lost more than 1.5 pounds. It seems to take a few weeks for some peoples' bodies to 'switch on' to the diet apparently In fact I've never lost more than 2 Ibs at a tikme, although did lose 2 stone altogether so lost it in the end

Shhhh · 10/01/2008 14:45

Thanks diege, suppose its the overall loss that matters..iykwim. 2st is brill...

It just seems such a long way off..I keep imagining myslf slim in the summer although today I just want to give in

nikkid21 · 10/01/2008 16:20

Hi shhh. Please don't despair - I only lost 1lb my first week and then 4lb on week 2. It seems quite common in my group that the first week is less than you wouild hope for. Esp if you are female and do more green than red.

The only people i've seen have monster weightloss on the first week are men who have red plan most days. I've seen two blokes lose 7lb the first week but then slow right down after that.

Had my first weigh in after Xmas yesterday and lost 1.5 lb. Am pretty pleased with that as at least it wasn't a gain. Have 3.5lb to go for my club 10 - would like it this week but have only ever lost that much in one week once.

For anyone that doesn't think that homemade stew has the 'right' gravy the schwartz beef casserole sachet is really nice & only 5.5 syns - so not too bad if it does you two meals. Can also reccomend making mash just from swede instead of potatoes on a red day. I microwave the swede whole and unpeeled so that it doesn't get watery.

lurcherlass · 10/01/2008 18:08

....microwave the swede whole and unpeeled so that it doesn't get watery.... Last time I tried something like that Nikki, I blew the microwave door off Thanx for the tip about the schwartz thing, does it have much flavour, or is it more of a thickener?

Sparkler · 10/01/2008 18:14

Oh God weigh-in in 45 mins. It's so going to be a gain.

OP posts:
nikkid21 · 10/01/2008 18:28

Lurcherlass - I leave it unpeeld, top and tail it and then stab it a few times like you would with a potato. Do it for about 8 mins and then turn upside down and give it another 4 or so (depends on the size). Then I just scoop the middle out like it's a squash or pumpkin.
Never had an exploding incident yet! As I said it's much more creamy and like potato. If I boil if I find it too watery.
The schwartz mix thickens and flavours it. I only add browned braising steak, carrots and onions fried in frylight. Sometimes garlic to give it some kick

Shhhh · 10/01/2008 20:12

lurcherlass..sorry but your post had me rotflmao ..!!!

nikkid, thanks for your kind words..I am continuing with the plan and I am honestly determined that I WILL LOOSE WEIGHT. I have to do it this year..Im 30 next year so I have no excuses..Mum just text, she has rejoined as well and has lost 3 this first week..

Does anyone think im mad about this...........I have seen a gorgeous dress in River Island and my experience tends to be that when they go it goes iykwim....would you buy it now with the determination to be able to wear it for around 5 months time (ds christening..) I thought about going 2 sizes lower....realistic or a fantasy..? Just wanted to have something so I don't drop out. Can anyone say how RI are with dress sizes..? skimpy..?

I can also vouch for the scwartz sauces. We used these pre slimmingworld and used one this week after checking its syn value..can't believe its quite low esp as nikki said, it does 2 meals. It does thicken up. I use it in the slow cooker. Add beg and meat and 7 hours later its delicious. .

Oh yeah................my other incentive to loose weight.................Just returned from Asda where the sales assistant asked when my baby was due .
Im know im over weight but not massivly . AND I didn't think I looked pregnant.
She asked "or have you just had the baby".
I had to lie... DS is 1 in around 3 weeks time and I made out he was 3 months old .......

lurcherlass · 10/01/2008 20:39

You can laugh, you wouldn't believe the disasters I've had in the kitchen Even the hob's a danger zone. I tried to cook some of those boil in the bag fish portions in a saucepan and they swelled up and burst!!! People hide when I start cooking....Have you watched Father Ted? right, well you know the wall behind Father Jacks chair? Thats like the wall behind my cooker. It looks like there's been a civil war in my kitchen

Shhhh · 10/01/2008 20:41

not seen father ted BUT I can visualise your kitchen lol ...!!!

missiesparkles · 10/01/2008 20:50

me 23 - what I normally if something has a syn allowence and I think I can shift a few syns by subbing healthy extra in, is knock off 6 syns from the syn value. only as the hifi bars are 6 syns if not yur 'b' choice and in the book it says if you have a pre made sandwich you can knock 6 syns off the overall syn value... so I figure 6 is the magic number

and andyrobo237 - yes!! we can do it!! kee me posted on your week and your loss !!!

bit of a double x - post there methinx, whoops!

Sparkler · 10/01/2008 21:04

Can someone tell me please?............. Our consultant said there is a new food optimising book now for new members but pre-existing members can buy the pack for £1.50. Apparently, she says, there are new Healthy Extra listed in the new one. Has anyone seen it and can you tell me if there is much change and if you think it's worth buying one. Thankyou.
Not sure if it's on thread already but this weeks' password is STAWBERRY. [mile]

Shhhh · 10/01/2008 21:10

Yes, there is a new book out. Im a new member so I have a copy but can't remember what the old one was like.

Just a tip....our consultant suggested old members buying the new one for "new reading" allow you to focus and read the plan again..Good idea although a good way to get the pennies in .!!!

welldone sparkler .

Sparkler · 10/01/2008 21:22

She did show us from a distance the new one -in a kinda "look what you could have if you bought it!!" sort of way!!
The set up of it looked quite impressive with the green and original days being (how do you describe it??) back to front/upside down to each other (??? )

OP posts:
Shhhh · 10/01/2008 21:28

yes sparkler they are. The red section is as a normal book would look, then you turn it around to get the green section..both meet in the middle with syns. and vice versa
