Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

Shhhh · 10/01/2008 21:33

thats coz I have studied it so fecking much this week...not that its done me any good..!!!! .

kid · 10/01/2008 22:00

I can't believe that I blew the diet today
I was out on a trip and everyone was offering such tempting nibbles so I had a bag of spicy niknaks, 2 handfuls of toffee popcorn and a small cup of mocha (made from a sachet)

But for breakfast and dinner and the rest of my lunch was still within SW. I had 1 HEb this morning (weetabix) and then the other meals were rice and pasta. So although I feel like I blew it, I am hoping I haven't completely blown in. Maybe my low usage of syns throughout the week will save me from gaining!

Diege · 11/01/2008 08:11

Oh KID, no way is that blowing the diet . Really, I think as you say that any excess intake was absorbed by syns/HEs . As long as you're 'good' today (urr, I hate that 'were you good?' thing!!)any possible weight gain will be balanced out (that 'jelly weight' thing the consultants talk aboout). I'm doing your byriani tonight btw so will let you know how it goes!

Sparkler · 11/01/2008 10:13

Right, I'm in the right frame of mind today.
Just had a huge omelette (4 eggs!!) with blob of tomato ketchup and a cuppa tea. Have decided I'm going to try and keep myself from feeling hungry - shall be picking non-stop on free foods so I eat so much I won't want anything in the end! Well, that's the plan anyway.

Sounds like a good start to the day SPARKLER!! . I have just discovered that After Eight straws are only a syn each (so of course have just had 4 with a cup of hazelnut flavoured coffee ). I'm assuming flavoured coffee (Boaters, granules) is free-ish? Can't find on SW site! Anyone else find that site (the online syn section) really difficult to use? I'm sure they make it obscure so that people ring up at £1 a time!

peachespaige · 11/01/2008 13:37

Hello All,

I have been lurking on this thread for a while but now Im here with vengance! Must lose 1.5 stones.
Well done on ant losses so far, its always hard after Christmas.
Can anyone tell me

  1. How many muller lite yogs can we eat in a day! I like to have one at night but often fancy one in the day too.
  2. Is there a secret free way to thicken gravy? Surely you cant just pour hot water and bovril over your roast?

Thank you

peachespaige · 11/01/2008 13:42

Diege,
Im the same. When you type in the relovent info you get one syn amount but if you search it by manufacturer you get a different one! Also the bit about "is it one of your free foods" If you click yes it gives you a different amount than if you click no. V8 veg juice for example, I still dont know if its free!!!
Arrgghh

Diege · 11/01/2008 14:06

Hi PEACH!! . Glad it's not just me and the on-line syn page . Good news on the muller-light front - you can have as many as you like, they're free!! There are a few varieties that are syn-ed (the ones with bits in from memory (the nice ones) eg. lemon cheesecake). Not sure about gravy - I just make it up using the ususal granules, and sod the syns! I just can't imagine that I'm going to put on weight from gravy, or ketchup, so never count them! I'm sure others have better solutions though . Maybe cornflower? That must be free surely?

IndigoMoon · 11/01/2008 14:10

i am def starting back next week and getting this christmas weight off

Shhhh · 11/01/2008 14:13

hmmm..don't think cornflower would be free.? not 100% but its flour isn't it so I guess syned..??

About the online syn calculater.........well after having low fat rich tea and counting as 1 syn ( a noraml rich tea is 2 syns) last night I noticed that lowe fat rich tea and digestives are the same syn value as full fat ones [shock[ . So sod low fat ones .!

After eight straws 1 syn...MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM................ Im a nightmare for choco,I have control BUT I have to have my daily amount..!!

Also about mullerlight.........THE "LAYER" ONES are NOT free.

Misdee · 11/01/2008 14:13

hiya

well you lot have been very chatty! lol.

had a mini-blowout today, big wholemeal bap with 3 sausages in it on the way to harefield.

but am free-fooding all thre rest of the day with another green day, and keep on track over the weekend

Shhhh · 11/01/2008 14:22

misdee 3 sausages

Hows peter btw.?

Shhhh · 11/01/2008 14:26

right....cornflour...

1 level teaspoon= 1 syn on both days
1 level tablespoon= 3.5 syns on both days
28g = 5 syns on both days

Misdee · 11/01/2008 14:27

peter is moaning about the two attempts it too to get blood out of him today, but is otherwise fine

3sausgaes is very very bad. was from the bakery and so so nice though.

Shhhh · 11/01/2008 14:29

aw... I hate having blood taken. Glad he's doing well and hope you had a good christmas. A happy day in your household I would have expected .

Yeah but at least you had it on wholemeal bread so guess you were not to far off track. .!!!

Diege · 11/01/2008 14:30

Hi Misdee butty sounds nice!
Yes of course, cornFLOUR has flour in its (durrr brain ). Shhh, I was taken in too by the low-fat rich tea scam - think they put more sugar in the compensate. The only way around it is the rich tea fingers/morning coffee that are 1 syn I think? (but not half a satisfying as a round one!).

Shhhh · 11/01/2008 14:38

diege lol.!

Smaller= less satisfying . God theres no hope for me..! Dh said the same last night, said well we may as well get mcvites shortcake biscuits as they were either 2 or 3 syns and in his eyes well worth it..!!! (dh is doing it with me for support)

FFS I have not had a drink since new years eve, my choco intake has reduced 90% and I am eating so much fruit and veg that I am starting to feel like a compost bin . I MUST START TO LOOSE MORE WEIGHT SOON.

peachespaige · 11/01/2008 14:40

Thanks Shhh. Diege I love your way of thinking, Im the same with hot pepper sauce, I just squeeze it on the plate and forget to count it! Misdee i plan on having the biggest bacon and egg sandwich at the weekend!

Shhhh · 11/01/2008 14:42

can someone answer this...............on the online syn list it says:

Weight Watchers Double Chocolate Chip Cookies each 2.5 syns............

So.............is this PER biscuit OR PER PACK, given the fact that each individual pack has x2 cooked..? im confussed.......

lurcherlass · 11/01/2008 15:12

Shhhh, I know what you mean about feeling like a compost bin...wait til you start fermenting...all that C02 has to go one way or the other IYSWIM....

Diege · 11/01/2008 15:49

SHHH, I would think unfortunately it means 2.5 syns EACH. Bit of a con really as you can have most regular yummy choc chips for 3.5 (and I think Millie's cookies are only 4 each??)Obv. biscuits are my thing , and I really try to feel that I have maximum satisfaction per syn with them!

lurcherlass · 11/01/2008 16:28

Diege, try some Alpen light breakfast bars, only 3 syns each, chocolate ones are the best. Theyre not biscuity as biscuits, but you get a nice bit of sweet and crisp for 3 syns. Two count as a HEB I believe.

Diege · 11/01/2008 16:49

Ooh so I can have TWO as one B choice? (or 4 for 2 B's??) And they do chocolate too?

lurcherlass · 11/01/2008 19:27

Well Diege, they're chocolate orange. They have a tiny drizzle of chocolate over the top, but the whole effect is quite a nice chocolatey taste. They're on the SW website, listed as 2 bars make a Healthy extra B choice on green (sorry, didnt check red days). Enjoy!!
