Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

There's definately free sausages at m&s and morrisons, not sure which.

Re-joined today at a daytime group (lucky me as I can go during working hours!) new consultant seems very nice although apparently she's tight with the stickers. I LIKE MY STICKERS!!!

I have half a stone till target, although if I make it I may lower it (I've only been my target weight twice in the last 6 years and haven't stayed there that long lol)

Misdee · 08/01/2008 18:40

evening ladies.

i also need a kick up the bum. i really want to get my stone sticker, but at the weekends i go barmy and scoff biscuits and crisps. i swear its just boredom.

anyone want an extra thing to aim for? i am doing rice for life this year and have started a beginners runners threads here. i am hoping it helps me lose weight quicker as well.

lurcherlass · 08/01/2008 18:52

Linda McCartney sausages are nice, I think they are 1 1/2 syns each tho...The only Quorn I can stand is cracked pepper fillets, chicken style with romano tomato (or something like that) and the burgers that are meant to be quarter pounders with cheese. I tried the lamb mint ones and nearly gagged.
Just wanted to share with you my little brain-wave..I often make casseroles and find the stock too thin for gravy. Instead of adding cornflour or gravy granules, I stirred abot of Smash into it, to make lovely thick gravy. Only free on Green tho.

missiesparkles · 08/01/2008 19:13

had my weigh in today - managed to have 1.5lbs off. which is a bit rubbish if you consider its over 3 weeks but such a relief to have come out the other side of xmas having lost something I suppose!! only 5lbs to go to my club 10 + my 2st award so from this point onwards I am back on track!!

andyrobo237 · 08/01/2008 20:10

missiesparkles - I am the same - 5lbs to my club ten as well - lets motivate each other along!!!!

I have been really good today - was tempted to get crisps from machine at work, but stuck to my plan and really enjoyed my snack of cherries and grapes (yes really I did enjoy it!).

Make a chicken curry last night for tea (doing a beef casserole tonight for tomorrow)which was lovely - I use the Maykway curry sauce powder, but cant find the syns for it (prob cos I cant spell it and have thrown the tin away!). I have guessed at 6 syns for the 2 tablespoons per serving for now.

I menu planned last night for the next three days (was supposed to be 4 but I got confused and missed out today - doh!)

Come on ladies - lets all give each other a big kick up the derriere! We booked a short break to Center Parcs last night - 11 weeks away - so target is at least a stone - then found out today that one of the families from school are going the same time - would like to lose more before we go as the Mum is very glam and thin (dont know her very well, but dont want to be the talk of the school playground - she is that type of person unfortunately!). Cant use the baby excuse anymore as he is nearly 11 months!

kid · 08/01/2008 20:25

I made a gorgeous vegetable byriani tonight, not only was it delicious, it was also very easy to make. I will be making that again thats for sure.

I am still sticking to this SW 100%, I don't even crave chocolate at the moment. I had a curly wurly in the fridge but I opted for 2 satsumas instead, never thought that would happen. The chocolate log is still sitting unopened in the fridge.

I am going to weigh in tomorrow as that will be 1 week since I started. I weighed in on Monday and had lost 3lb but I am just curious to see how much I lost in the first week when sticking to SW completely. I am really enjoying it now as I can see and feel a difference. My size 12 jeans that were becoming a bit on the tight side and now a perfect fit.

Of course I can, here it is.

Ingredients:
easy cook basmati rice
1 3/4 pint veg stock
3 tbsp mild curry powder
salt
1 onion peeled and finely chopped
7oz cauliflower
3 plum tomatoes (I didn't use any)
1 courgette, diced
6 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1 tbsp chopped mint leaves (opps, I forgot to put those in!)

Place rice in a large non-stick saucepan with the stock and curry powder. Season with salt and bring to the boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer gently for 8-10 minutes

Add the onion, cauliflower, tomatoes and corgette. Bring back to the boil, cover and cook over a low heat for 6-8 minutes or until the rice is tender and the stock is absorbed. Remove from the heat, cover and leave to stand for 10 minutes.

Stir in the chopped herbs and serve immediately.

When I made it, I didn't really follow the times properly, and I definitely didn't leave to stand for 10 minutes, it smelt too nice to wait!
I just went into the kitchen to get the recipe and the smell of it is still mouth watering! I think it was worth the effort.

Hi everyone. Sounds like you are all doing well. Wish I could say the same. I don't know what's wrong with me. Just can't get myself motivated. There still a few Christmas naughties hanging around and that doesn't help. I'm back at work next week so hopefully that will stop me nibbling - have a week at home with no-one else to worry about as they are all at school/work and it's tricky.

Eat Smart sausages from Morrisons are free on red (and they're really nice!). They used to be quite hard to get hold of in my local morrisons but I went in a few days ago for some and they had loads!

I don't mind Quorn sausages but I have to spray them with fry light first otherwise they look too pale.

Misdee · 09/01/2008 11:41

i lost 1.5lb!!! am back ot my pre-xmas weight

babyducky · 09/01/2008 11:57

well done misdee & missiesparkles!

that veg byriani sounds lovely, gonna try that.

Hi everyone . Must say I've been very inspired by stories of weight loss/good days etc, and have been trying hard to stick to the plan! Thanks for biriyani recipe Kid, will try it this week . I'm a big fan of quorn sausages (though havn't eaten red meat for 22 years so not can't remember the taste of real ones to compare). Snap LURCHER about the minted lamb quorn steaks! I've never tasted anything more disgusting (other than avocado) in my life; truly gaggable! .
Finding it hard being at work food wise - the commute is a killer and I have been feeling quite light-headed by the time I get home, despite mountains of fruit and those bloody muller lights!
So is it tomorrow that we're doing our on-line weigh-in? Have resisted popping on the scales (which are in the kitchen under the high chair )all week, but hope to have lost a couple of pounds Jeans certainly feel a little looser, though tight enough to remind me why I'm doing Sw!

andyrobo237 · 09/01/2008 13:09

Well Done Misdee - onwards and downwards now with the weight loss - how much more do you want to lose?

Sparkler - it will be better being back at work - back to the usual routine!

My halo is shining here - sitting here on a green day with jacket potato with cheese and sweetcorn and salad - all multicoloured like a rainbow! Got a yog and pear for afters and cherries for mid afternoon snack! Beef casserole in slow cooker at home!!! (I hope I switched it on.....!)

I am trying to prove to myself that I can lose weight a bit quicker if I stick to the plan properly! Got an email off our COnsultant today, which was lovely and motivated me! Maybe for those that dont go to class, we could send emails directly to them (and anyone else who is struggling) as well as coming on here!? Just an idea if anyone interested?

lurcherlass · 09/01/2008 15:53

Just cooking lamb tagine to serve with spicy cous-cous. I put apricots in it for DH's but fish them out of my portion. I did add a tin of butter beans to it last time and that was nice. I eat it on a green day, so dont go too mad with the meat in my portion, but I love the flavour of the sauce. Bland is a killer for me, I've broken more diets through boredom than I can remember. Doing well with SW since I bought the "saucy secrets" recipe file and revived my taste-buds

cracker2 · 09/01/2008 17:51

Hi everyone

I am back again, started on thread just before Christmas with all intentions of doing well with slimming world really struggled to lose weight due to pcos and underactive thyroid. went to diaticians they told me not to do slimming world but cut down my food intake, this did not work.I then proceeded to make another appointment to Docs she told me to forget about dieting till after Christmas just enjoy myself and then get back on Slimming World. As you can imagine i am very confused with all this and really stressed out so therefore im back. I lost 4 stone on Slimming World 4 years ago and did really well achieved slimmer of the year so if i can do it once i can do it again. I would dearly love all your support and if i can remember i will keep logging onto the thread to let you know how i am doing. I am not going back to classes yet but may do in the future, hopefully with your help and support i wont need to and will succesfully do it at home. Once again thanks for all your help on this thread and a happy new year to you all

cracker2 · 09/01/2008 17:54

p.s i started again on the 7th January weigh in on 14th i will let you know how i have done,

kid · 09/01/2008 18:51

I found a tin of veg curry at the back of the cupboard tonight so I had a lazy dinner!
I might be going shopping tomorrow so should muster up a shopping list of loads of healthy goodies. I am pleased that I seem to remember good things to buy so I am not too fussed if I don't write a list. Its also handy having a Tesco just across the road to my house!

Keep up the good work, the Christmas weight will soon come off for all of us, then its downwards even further I reckon. Stick with it, this really is an amazing diet.

I don't go to a class either, I'm too lazy and too embarrassed
But, I had decided that if I don't do SW sucessfully at home, then I would have to attend class.

katylou25 · 09/01/2008 19:53

Am just back from class and lost 2 lb so thats what I put on last week off just need to stay motivated for next week now - after I've washed down my sausage sandwich with a couple of glasses of wine and a bar of choc that IS!
