Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

hi yes I've had the bachelors rice and I do like it never thought to add anything to it.that Thanks I will try it.

just realised pancake day on the 5th, how many syns in a pancake made with fry light and semi-skimmed milk?

SWlurker · 01/02/2008 16:35

Boredom, munching? I don't know what you mean!!!

my theory is the more I can surrpound myself with easy to grab and munch on free food and the less syns I have around me, I can grab and munch all day long if nescessary- thats the brilliant thing I love about slimming world and why weight watchers doesn't work for me - if you feel like eating, even if its for boredom, as long as its free food you can do so as much as you want without feeling guilty.

Sparkler · 01/02/2008 16:41

Wow! Amazing weight losses this month well done everyone. It's actually quite interesting in looking back over a month how much weight has come off rather than looking at it from week to week. Even if you have had a slight gain one week, in the longer term it's quite motivating to see the total weight loss.
Shall we do it again for February?
I've been good today. Took some mini chocolate muffins in to work today for everyone (my last day in current job) and I didn't have any.

oh my goodness the lapen light bars are gorgeous! but so so more-ish. i have had two (1 apple and sultana, 1 choc and orange) plus wholemeal taost this morning) so am all HeB'ed out for today. but want to scoff more bars .

i think after i have eaten the ones i have bought, i wont be buying them again as they are too too tempting.

Morgan · 01/02/2008 17:14

Sparkler - I say do it for feb as have just started and so that would be good motivation.

Thanks Beadmum re the healthy extras - had 2 of each today so that's ok - just had a j pot as heb with cheese hea, tuna and ham and abit of v low fat yoghurt and some carrots and peas.

Tell mne about the rices and pastas in packets - are they syns? Although v expensive here i imagine so better off doing something from scratch. Annoyingly can't get much of the free v low fat dairy stuff here.

Morgan · 01/02/2008 17:17

Misdee - sorry to go on about these bars but they are not on the list i have as an abroad subscriber - what do they count as?? sounds like maybe should steer clear though.

lurcherlass · 01/02/2008 17:19

Hi MammaG, well done!! I havent weighed for about 3 weeks, so no idea if I have got the 2 stone off yet. I had to lose my christmas gain, which I managed to do last time i weighed. I am really losing my appetite lately, I dont fancy anything that I can eat, so I dither about in the kitchen and end up not bothering at all. I am SO bored that I fear a mad binge. I want FAT FOOD!! If I see another Mullerlite, I'm gonna puke!!!

nikkid21 · 01/02/2008 17:22

Morgan - the alpen light bars you can have two for one Heb.

As you can also have two weetabix as a HeB I mix and match. So have one weetabix for breakfast and an alpen bars for the teatime munchies and i've only used 1 Heb.

misdee · 01/02/2008 17:28

i have saved my syns today

so tonight i am having curry chips and rice.

rice is free

tesco veg curry tinned 6syns

200g of mccain rustic chips 2syns.

i'm gonna feel like a right oinker! lol.

Morgan · 01/02/2008 17:40

Thanks Nikkid21 - don't have the bars on my list - was a bit confused at the listings of cereal and crispbreads together - but it makes more sense if you split them up

Misdee - sounds good enjoy.

Am trying to keep the syns low now at the beginning - do you think this makes much difference or not? Don't feel i need them with all the free fod i have to say - trying to stick to fruit for snacks.

sugarlumps · 01/02/2008 17:47

i dont think it makes all that much difference if you have your syns or not, 9/10 i only have them so i dont feel like im on a diet! if that makes sence!

not had any today so far, made easter cakes with my boy and his friend, and i was soooo good, i didnt even haev 1 mini egg lol

have put 4 aside for later though (3syns)

defo up for the biggest loser at the end of feb! it will keep me motivated1

well done girlys!

sugarlumps · 01/02/2008 17:59

my god! my dear beloved son has eaten my 4 mini eggs!
i just went to check on my babies and they have gone.
i feel like crying!

misdee · 01/02/2008 20:30

i am absolutly atuffed after my pig out session. i did have another apple and sultana alpen bar so an extra 3 syns

what i have tried this week is the new george foreman range from the freezer section. the chicken skewers are 1syn for the whole box, and the southern style chicken is free. both on original. quite nice but a bit pricey.

Sparkler · 01/02/2008 20:49

Can someone please tell me what changes there are in Healthy Extras in the new Food Optimising book compared to the last edition please? Our consultant has offered to sell us one but I'm not sure if it's worth getting or not. x

Hi Am a lurker, but used to post. I haven't been to s/w for AGES and have no motivation Does anyone know if edamame beans are free on green?? (actually I don't know what they are but my friend wants to know!!

sugarlumps · 01/02/2008 21:46

sparkler - i find the new food optimising book so much more helpful and easy to understand than the old one,
the one i have before is from 2001 i picked it up at a car boot sale a few years back, and had to get my mum to explain it all to me as i was VERY confused,
The new book however is very very simple and goes into a lot more detail, well i think it does any how!

nikkid21 · 01/02/2008 22:28

Hi poppy
I just tried your beans in the syn calculator on site and it didn't recognise them at all.

Sparkler - Our consultant said that you could buy the new books up until the middle of Feb for only £1.50 per pack. I got one and have stashed it away to sell on ebay in a few months time. Pre xmas the packs were selling for £30+ . The site's swamped with them at the moment but come april time they will be like gold dust again.

misdee · 02/02/2008 10:53

Last night was a disaster.

I had oven chips & chicken for dinner... the oven chips probably were only 2 or 3 syns, though the chicken was more...

Then we went to a pub quiz... I had one small triangle sandwich (white bread) with tuna & onion in it. And a handful of nuts & crisps (and then to add insult to injury we slipped from 1st place to 3rd by the end!!)

Feeling like a pig.

It's snowing here today so I have a lovely warm pot of soup on for lunch.

Dh & the kids are going to bake after lunch

sugarlumps · 02/02/2008 11:31

that doesnt sound too bad firefly! i dont think the occasional slip matters all that much! and it sounds like your slip was quite a healthyish one!!!
at work on thurs night the chef bought me a big bowl of chips with garlic mayo...i resisted at first but proved to be too weak lol!!!

they were sooooo good though so im not angry with myself! i'll get there eventually!

Beadmum · 02/02/2008 12:04
