Hi everyone. New thread as promised. A little later than planned but I'm blaming celebrating too much last night.
I wish I could say it was a good start but I'm feeding my hangover today so looks like I'm going to start tomorrow.
Is everyone feeling motivated?

thanks diege..Gutted or what . So maybe my weightloss of only 1 lb was because I hadn't valued syns correctly . So I was having a twin pack of ww cookes and counting as 3.5 syns WHEN really it should have been 7 .

I hadn't had all my syns each day so guess I may only have gone over a little each day . Well at least I know now....

So, from now on I will be enjoying green and blacks mini choc bars for 4.5 sins . Well worth it..!!! esp given what the cookes are worth and they are like cardboard .!!!!

Millie cookies 4 syns...Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.Diege you are the double of me..!!!!

Diege · 11/01/2008 22:14

Tell me more about these Green and Blacks mini bars!!

kid · 11/01/2008 22:45

I was good for most of the day today, but I keep slipping. I think my problem is, I have been too strict on my diet for too long. Actually that can't be true as I've only been on it for a matter of days!

But, I need to include a little of everything I fancy so I don't go mad with cravings. I was so good at my parents house tonight. They had a big tin of chocolates and as much as my mouth was watering, I did not give in. I just watched everyone else tucking into them. I then came home and had 2 oranges. Not as satisfying but felt very proud of myself.

Weigh in on Monday, I'm really not expecting any miracles this week. A 4lb loss last week was good and can be evened out over 2 weeks I think.

Tonights dinner was a large Lamb Shish kebab with salad (no sauce) and a pitta bread. I also had 4 celeberation chocs at work (thats probably why I could resist at my parents!) so I think I might have slightly overdone it today. No syns for me tomorrow I think!

Beadmum · 12/01/2008 09:15

lost 4.5lbs

Im very happy, never lost that much in 1 week before, thats all my xmas weight plus an extra pound.
Ate rubbish over xmas and new year but feel back in the swing of sw again, kept a food diary last week and it has helped, also meal planning is def the key

What size are the green and black bars at 4.5 syns, are they easy to get? mmm

lurcherlass · 12/01/2008 09:53

Beadmum, in tesco's they sell a pack of G and B mini choc bars, all different flavours. There's a ginger one, either love it or hate it!

Beadmum · 12/01/2008 11:50

thanks lurcherlass, will have to make a trip to tesco

Shhhh · 12/01/2008 12:16

only just logged on..sorry about delay.

Yeah g&b's choc is devine and asda and tesco sell a box of around 10 bars (2 of each flavour) that inc milk, dark, butterscotch, cherry & almond....oh and ginger . All bars are 4.5 syns (well the sw mag says that yet the online syn thingy says 4..)

They are only small "taster" bars BUT imo are well worth it, just eat them sloowwwwwllllyyyy and enjoy .

Im bad for sweet things and choco and I find these help. So, you could have x3 in a day. .

see 15g minature bars lower down..green&blacks

Oh and DON'T look at anything else on this page ..

lurcherlass · 12/01/2008 15:22

Right, anyone who doesn't like the ginger ones, send them to me I love 'em!
I made the slimming world coq au vin last night. Discovered we had no vin left, so DH was despatched, grumbling, to the local shop to get a bottle. It was well worth it, as it was SO tasty. We had it on a green day with a big pile of mash potatoes. Even DH said all the SW recipes we've tried have been yummee, (except some weird cottage cheese, mash potato things that you were meant to fry like patties, but in reality were just a sticky slop)...Must try the swede in it's jacket trick...

lurcherlass · 12/01/2008 16:47

Any of you girls tell me how many syns in those Options hot choc drink? I tried the SW website, I thought they were made by Cadbury, altho it says Ovaltine on the back of the jar. Tried both, without success. Its the Begian choc one I'm guzzling...

Diege · 12/01/2008 17:06

Hey LURCHER I remember those cottage cheese patty things - having to add a load of cooking oil so they wouldn't stick to the frying pan Wow BEADMUM, good going with the weight loss, that's brilliant and must be very motivating! SSSH, thanks for the Green and Blacks link; they look gorgeous!! May well ask for some for Easter, as they seem a better bet than eggs! I'm starving at the moment - waiting for tonight for the veg byriani but of course I can't have curry without naan bread,so am trying to think of the best way around it! Have saved one B choice (so 6 syns) but think they are aropund 20 syns each? Will feel v.deprived without one though, so sod it . I've always managed to do the plan with a blow out day, and still lose (I'm blessed with a very fast metabolism)...OK, I've justified it now and will enjoy!

cherryredretrochick · 12/01/2008 17:11

Lurcher, just try options, I know I found out lat week but I can't remember again now.
I have lost the will to diet but am lurkig here for when I am up and about again.

nikkid21 · 12/01/2008 17:54

I thought that the options hot choc sachets were 2 syns each except for dark choc which is 1.5. Might be wrong but that's what I count them as.

Just had a big stirfry - bbq beef flavour low fat supernoodles to go, done with the boiling water and then woked with a packet of beanspouts, carrot, water chestnut and bamboo shoots. Syn free and i'm stuffed. Now just waiting until the kids go to bed so that I can have a days syns worth of gin and slimline tonic

Have been looking at the other schwartz casserole mixes and they are as follows for the 35g / 43g dried sachets

Beef casserole 5.5
Shepherds pie 5.5
Chicken casserole 6.5
Chicken chasseur 6.5
Coq au vin 6

lurcherlass · 12/01/2008 18:22

Thanks girls, not as bad as I thought then...They are a great choc-fix
Has anyone tried the Weight watchers frozen desserts? between 7 1/2 and 10 1/2 syns each, but nice for a change and if you're craving fat food.Chocolate brownie, bannofee and caramel crunch ones are the best

sugarlumps · 13/01/2008 10:37

Good mornign everyone! found this thread by accident and it looks as though u are all doing a great job, so i was hoping i could join? started the slimming world diet about a week ago and have lost just over half a stone! but as i dont have time to go to the classes i thought this might be a good way to keep me motivated!!

Diege · 13/01/2008 11:10

Monring, and hi sugarlumps! . Sounds like you're doing really well on SW so far; I think some here (most?) go to the classes too, although I don't (have gone in the past).
Well (predictably) went well over syns allowance last night. I think once that I realsied the naan bread was 20 syns, I bacame far more flexible shall we say on the syns count (so stacked up 15 on biccies Those go-ahead forest fruits are a killer!! And then dh presents me with a box of those Lindt Lindor balls . I haven't eaten them yet, but have them lined up for syms over next few days. Must check on website...

sugarlumps · 13/01/2008 11:48

i have done slimming world plan before (after the birth of my son) and managed to lose 3.5 stone, however after 2 years of not dieting 2.5 stone of it has gone back on. i've set myself a pat of 10stones, so only 2 to go (fingers crossed) i dont expect to lose this much in a week again. but i've got til august before the bikini has to come out! i've just had a look for those lindt chocolate balls but there not in my syn directory. i think 1 syn is about 20cals though if that helps
xx

Diege · 13/01/2008 12:10

Wow, 3.5 stone is brilliant! You'll def. get to your target by August the way you're going .
Well, found the Lindt balls on online syns - 4 each!!! So tonight,my syn-fest will be 3 rich-tea biscuits and one Lindt ball...great...
KID: made your byriani last night and very nice it was too . However, I didn't measure my quantities so ended up having to add more water for the rice, etc, then more curry powder...so now I have 3 big saucepans full of the stuff . Guess what I'm having for lunch? and taking to work all week...

lurcherlass · 13/01/2008 12:21

Diege, you could tip some into a Pyrex dish, sprinkle some cheese over it and bake it in the oven for a change. I'm taking to work home made veg stew, with loads of lentils, peas, beans and barley in it. "Soup mix" from Morrisons 42p (free for us green gals)

lurcherlass · 13/01/2008 12:26

"I need to include a little of everything I fancy so I don't go mad with cravings"...KID, in my humble opinion, this is one of the 3 screts to success, the other 2 being "not going hungry" and "planning ahead". As I life-long dieter, I am convinced that depriving yourself leads to binges. For years I starved and binged, but ended up fatter than I started (we're talking 33 years of dieting!!). This time It's been SO different..Go Girl

sugarlumps · 13/01/2008 16:25

Hi, does anyone know if steak is free on a red day? im going out for dinner 2moro night and im trying to plan what im going to eat in advance so im not trying to add up syns when i look at the menu. i thought steak and salad was a pretty safe bet?

Misdee · 13/01/2008 16:29

yes, i think so, lean steak and trim off any visable fat.

i could murder a big mixed grill now

sugarlumps · 13/01/2008 16:50

lol dont!!! its a green day for me today i find them easier! just put a big pan of curried rice on for tea. i cant believe how much im eating! i never seem to stop. either that or im just more aware of it now!

hercules1 · 13/01/2008 16:51

Sugarlumps - can I ask please how you make the curried rice?

Diege · 13/01/2008 16:55

LURCHER - have taken you advice and put some with cheese on biriani in the oven for the dds tea . The only downside to this SW plan for me is that I feel I'm cooking (or thinking about what to cook) all the time. Though maybe lack of forward thinking was my problem last time? Totally agree with the food prep/don't deny mantra! Am trying the quorn and bean pie tonight (but using mushrooms instead of quorn). I am excited because I have a healthy extra left to gorge on with my syns and cup of tea Very sad I know!

kid · 13/01/2008 17:20

Diege - I had to add more water too when I made it as I was convinced the quantity they gave was far too much! I am going to make it tonight again. Like the idea of adding some cheese on top as I always end up making more than one portion worth.

Todays gone well, managed to stick to SW and haven't gone hungry. I have had a headache all day though and have just taken some tablets. It hurts the most when I have to talk. I just want peace and quiet but of course my kids don't realise that!

I am going to decide on meals for the next 3 days. Its DDs birthday this week, so I might have a few little treats just to help her celebrate
