Not going to be fat and 50!

Every year I say I'm going to do it, but this year I'm determined that I have to lose it. I've got my 50th birthday in May and a once in a lifetime trip in October. I don't want to be fat for either.

I've ordered a treadmill. I like walking, but don't like going out before or after work when it's dark so I thought this would get me back into being more active. Eating wise I'm going to follow Fast800 for a boost at the beginning. I'm the kind of dieter that needs to see results quickly otherwise I'm in danger of giving up so I'm hoping this will give me a decent loss at the start and spur me on.

Anyone want to join me in an accountability thread?

@MrsMigginsCat I'm sorry to hear it wasn't more. So frustrating when you are trying so hard. Do you measure your self at all?

It isnt as much a you wanted but if you keep going until the end of the year that would be 24lb. In the right direction.

diege · 25/02/2022 20:49

@MrsMigginsCat I suppose it depends what's normal for you? Ive lost 6 pounds since Jan and am pretty pleased with that, but never really lose more than a pound a week whatever I do. It is hard to keep slogging away at it when you expect more though. Its going in the right direction, but I can see why you may feel disappointed ! 💐

I've fallen off the wagon dramatically this evening courtesy of my old friend the do-nut (s) and the chippy 😫😫😫 Feel quite sick but not going to dwell on it. Back on plan tomorrow, ready for wedding cake tasting on Sunday! 😅

Wishing everyone a good weekend x

Roominmyhouse · 25/02/2022 21:01

@MrsMigginsCat totally understand the disappointment. But it’s still a loss. I was doing so well but then since 14th Feb I’ve only lost 0.2lbs! Bleugh this is not fun!

dudsville · 25/02/2022 21:51

Yay for the dress fitting and the losses, boo for those whose losses were too small.

I'm keeping my hand in the game but it's a real struggle. I've been exhausted for a couple of weeks now, had a few blow out nights re alcohol and some poor choices re food. I've just about got back into the daily exercise habit but what a pita that is. And tomorrow night is a film night meet up with takeaway and alcohol with guests. Bleurgh. I've decided to keep my exercise bike in front of the tv for the film. I feel so flabby though and now that I'm this close to dropping under 12st I can see that my goal of 11.7 is not going to be my happy place, so I'm now aiming for 11st. Please let that be it!!!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/02/2022 08:37

@MrsMigginsCat completely understand your disappointment, though as others say it's still a loss. I hope the disappointment doesn't put you off.

I have been off the wagon the last few days since my chippy tea earlier in the week. I am back to office working this week and it's been difficult to get in the right groove for food and exercise. Still determined to get back on it.

@dudsville my goals have been half a stone at a time pretty much - it feels more achievable.

MrsMigginsCat · 26/02/2022 09:47

@unicornsarereal72 yes, and 24lbs would get me into the low 11s and I think I'd be happy with that to start with. It's so much harder as you get older. In my late 30s I dropped 3.5 stone in about 5 months, so 4lbs in 2 months is just rubbish.

I am still getting over COVID so my eating habits have been a little erratic but Monday is a new week so onward and downwards. In the meantime it's DH's Xmas present day out today so we have a nice lunch booked followed by a show at the local theatre. In the whole grand scheme of things happening in the world at the moment, being able to enjoy life, even if I'm a little bit fat, is a fortunate place to be.

@diege yay for getting the fucker done up 🤣🍾
@MrsMigginsCat as the others said, try not to be disheartened. 4 bags of sugar is a lot, and you’ve probably gained muscle too which is more important. Try measuring waist for other wins

frosties24 · 26/02/2022 11:15

*2 bags of sugar, or 4 small bags. I looked it up, baking was never my strong point. Still loads though

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/02/2022 11:47

Age definitely makes it harder @MrsMigginsCat but slow and steady can be easier to keep off. Go enjoy your lunch and have a lovely afternoon.

frosties24 · 28/02/2022 20:55

Managed to get into a pair of trousers I haven’t fitted into since the first lockdown! They’re pretty tight but they’re on. 10 pounds lost since January. I know it will slow down and plateau soon as it always does but I’m going to push through the plateau this time.
Keep going if you’re on a plateau! I’ll need you to tell me this soon I’m sure

unicornsarereal72 · 28/02/2022 21:13

That's great @frosties24 always going to be ups abs down. Just got to keep chipping away at it.

frosties24 · 28/02/2022 21:55

Hopefully it is abs down! 🤪

unicornsarereal72 · 03/03/2022 16:30

Afternoon all. Hope everyone is having a good week. I decided to brave the scales after half term last week and had a loss. So good news for me. Feels really positive Nd making good food choices. I'm also enjoying the running group. I've never ran before but found this really inclusive and good for my mental health. Just not so good on my ankles.

So I've lost 10lb in 7 weeks. I was aiming for one a week. I have 7 weeks until we go away so really want to try for another 10. But any loss is good. Just long way to go to a healthy weight. And although I know I can get there I also know it will go right back on. But cross those bridges when I get there. 10 down another 28/35 to go.

diege · 03/03/2022 16:47

@unicornsarereal72 That's amazing, well done, and so good that you're 'ahead' of schedule so to speak!

Have had a lovely meal out with work colleagues, even better as funded very kindly by graduating students (Im a lecturer). Ate far too much but it was So Nice 🤣 Have pulled things back this week though so feel I can justify one splurge!

frosties24 · 03/03/2022 22:10

Well done @unicornsarereal72 🤩

dudsville · 06/03/2022 09:29

I fell away from the thread but have been keeping up with your updates. I had been feeling worse and worse and everything was such a chore and I just wanted to sleep. I felt so flabby, and the face in the mirror looking back at me looked pretty haggard. BUT I got my period yesterday and I'm really hoping this helps. I haven't been on the treadmill for a couple of weeks, and I've not kept to my eating window a few times having either actual food or wine, and I've had more sugary treats than I usually would, hopefully that was all premenstrual stuff. I have maintained cycling. As of last Friday I'm taking a break from wine. Onwards and upwards.Halo

frosties24 · 07/03/2022 08:58

Hi 👋 @dudsville. I hear you- I’ve slacked off for a few days too, hoping my lack of motivation is PMT. PMT usually adds a couple of pounds - let’s hope the whoosh comes after that for both of us. I’m trying to get back on track again today

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/03/2022 12:43

I haven't fully caught up, but I'm another who has been a bit slack over the last week. and back on it today! It's definitely been monthly cycle related. I've not been too bad exercise wise, but completely off the boil on the calorie counting.

Today is a new day though! Will see what Wednesday's weigh in brings.

diege · 07/03/2022 15:16

I think I've synchronised with you all (despite being on hrt 🤣) as I have been a sugar monster these past few days... Feeling more motivated today though and ready to push through the cravings. Working from home really is my downfall...
Keep going everyone! Summer is just around the corner 🤩

frosties24 · 07/03/2022 23:47

We’ve all somehow synched on here 🤣

frosties24 · 07/03/2022 23:48

I think my motivation problem could also b staying up too late (as you can see by my late listing 😴🥱) as I love the peace

frosties24 · 07/03/2022 23:49

*Late posting

unicornsarereal72 · 08/03/2022 15:28

Arhhh a week of eating. My mums birthday today. And a friends birthday on Saturday. Shouldn't cause me so much anxiety but it is. Any suggestions. Plan to make good choices and I'm driving so no alcohol. Oh and a date Friday night. Arse

Oblomov22 · 08/03/2022 17:46

I'm here. I have to start. Really unhappy.

dudsville · 09/03/2022 17:33

@frosties24

We’ve all somehow synched on here 🤣
This is so funny, especially for a group that consists of a lot of peri/menopausal women!

I really want to weigh in. I always feel thinnest after a period, but I'm equally tempted to wait a I desperately want the scales to start with an 11 rather than a 12.

Hi Obolomov!

Your post made me laugh unicorns! It can be hard to always make good choices. Can you have fun and then get back to plan, or would that be a slippery slope?
