Not going to be fat and 50!

Every year I say I'm going to do it, but this year I'm determined that I have to lose it. I've got my 50th birthday in May and a once in a lifetime trip in October. I don't want to be fat for either.

I've ordered a treadmill. I like walking, but don't like going out before or after work when it's dark so I thought this would get me back into being more active. Eating wise I'm going to follow Fast800 for a boost at the beginning. I'm the kind of dieter that needs to see results quickly otherwise I'm in danger of giving up so I'm hoping this will give me a decent loss at the start and spur me on.

Anyone want to join me in an accountability thread?

Weigh in day here - lost 1.25lb over the last week. happy with that as I definitely over indulged the last couple of days. Well done everyone on their losses!

frosties24 · 16/02/2022 14:19

Well done on the losses all 😊. We’ve gotta keep going and keep the end goal in sight (I’m really telling myself here)

MrsMigginsCat · 16/02/2022 15:51

We've got covid in the house. So far I've tested negative on LFTs but I've started to feel a bit rubbish today. DH is positive and hasn't felt too bad. So far this week my activity has been limited to trips to the kitchen for cups of tea so not expecting any miracles on the weigh loss front this week at all!

Oh no @MrsMigginsCat 😳💐

Roominmyhouse · 16/02/2022 21:35

Oh no @MrsMigginsCat hope it doesn’t hit you too hard!

Went out for dinner after work tonight and had 3 courses. I think I made sensible choices. I shouldn’t have had a dessert but it was bloody delicious 😋

MrsMigginsCat · 17/02/2022 07:11

Splendid. Confirmed covid now. If this is the worst it gets then I'll should be fine in a day or two. I just have a sore throat, cough, earache and just feel knackered. I'm meant to be wfh today but can't face dragging myself out of bed this morning.

diege · 17/02/2022 16:08

@MrsMigginsCat sending sympathy! That sounds really rough. Try and rest up as much as you can Brew
@Roominmyhouse Mmmm what was the pudding?
The pound i'd lost last week seems to have returned- my own fault for pigging out on Valentine's. I cante seem to lose with even the smallest lapse - so different from my 30s and even 40s 😫

dudsville · 17/02/2022 19:28

Very happy for you and envious of your losses! I didn't do any exercise Monday Tuesday or Wednesday. I blame peri it's been months since my last period and sometimes I get unbelievable periods of exhaustion! I got on the bike this evening and did just under 17 miles. I hope to do a big walk tomorrow. Sadly, I think I'm going to have to do some stomach exercises. I've got 9 weeks before the first of my celebrations this year and clearly what I'm doing is not shifting it.

Hope you're getting rested up @MrsMigginsCat!

MrsMigginsCat · 18/02/2022 20:58

Day 2 of covid and I'm feeling sorry for myself and would really like some sleep tonight, so I've thought, fuck it, and am having a couple of glasses of wine. I don't feel terrible, just full of cold and fed up. Normal service will resume on Monday!

Roominmyhouse · 18/02/2022 21:26

@diege it said it was a berry pavlova but it was more like Eton mess. Delicious either way!

Had pasta, 2 beers and chocolate tonight. I’m blaming the storm. This hasn’t been the greatest week diet wise but also not the worst.

@MrsMigginsCat I think the wine seems very sensible given you are poorly!

frosties24 · 18/02/2022 21:43

I don’t blame you - we had power cut so went out for fish and chips . Oops - normal service tomorrow, was yum anyway 👌😋

diege · 19/02/2022 08:21

@frosties24 ooh fish and chips! Entirely understandable in the circumstances!
@Roominmyhouse pudding sounds wonderful! I matched you yesterday with a strawberry and passion fruit eton mess 😫 Compromised by having one of those 'mini desserts' with a coffee during a spontaneous restaurant lunch. It was amazing.
@MrsMigginsCat I don't know how you've lasted this long without wine tbh! Did it help with sleep?
Not surprisingly I am the same weight as I was last Saturday, which is 'ok' but annoying too as for 4 days this week I had lost a pound 🙄 I am really struggling to cut out sweet treats and while I'm usually within my mfp calories, I do 'use' the exercise ones automatically added...Should I discount them? Does anyone else do this?
Keep safe in this weather everyone!

dudsville · 19/02/2022 11:44

I had faaaaar too much wine last night. I haven't done that in ages, felt like a real release. Woke up disappointed in myself and feeling flabby and like this is all just too much hard work for such little gain. I weighed in almost as if to say "See? Pointless!", but I've now lost a total of 8 pounds, so I blame the excessive wine for my poor outlook. I'm aware the added loss this week might be false due to dehydration as a result of last night's alcohol - but I'm keeping it as a gain and will just try ot to weigh in for a couple of weeks. I'm only 9 pounds away from my first goal.

@diege, I'm not calorie counting, but wil be interested to hear wha others who are calorie counting are doing about that.

Who had the fish and chips? I'm desperate for this and hope to have it one day this week as a treat!

@MrsMigginsCat, you just need to do what you need to do to feel as comfortable as possible when you're ill. Did the wine help you sleep?

Well done everyone on the losses, there's been quite a few "whooshes" this week!

unicornsarereal72 · 19/02/2022 12:32

Just come across this thread and it had my name on it. I'm 50 in October. And at Christmas just ate myself silly. Kids dad left a few years ago and Covid. So piled on the weight. Started about six weeks ago. Being mindful about what I eat. Less snacking. And joined a ladies slow running group so do that twice. Week and swim at the weekend with my teens. I'm trying not to focus on the scales but have lost 7lb. Half term here so not going to beat myself up. It is a marathon not a race. Anything between 2/3 stone and I'll be happy but this is a life long struggle I've always had. I can put weight on and loose it. I just can't maintain a healthy weight.

Roominmyhouse · 19/02/2022 19:45

Welcome @unicornsarereal72 ☺️

Just polished off half a large dominoes pizza 🙈 - this week is a definitely a bit of a write off!

diege · 20/02/2022 10:45

I think its been a tricky week for a few of us- @Roominmyhouse I am craving pizza now!
@unicornsarereal72 welcome to the thread! It sounds like you're doing really well with your weight loss to date. Slow running sounds interesting - like jogging or altogether a different thing?
So my wedding dress fitting is on Friday 😫 I have the dress (from Needle and Thread) just need around 8 inches lobbed off the end 🤣 It's a little easier to get into but hardly a before/after scenario. Will be super strict this week just in case I can slice another pound off by Friday. Have altered the settings on MFP to lose 1.5 rather than 1 pound a week, and will only eat my exercise cals if desperate! Have a packet of custard creams in mind post fitting 😂

frosties24 · 20/02/2022 11:34

Welcome @unicornsarereal72!!
It was me 🙋🏻‍♀️had the fish and chips 😋
@dudsville Sometimes a little blow out on the wine can be v good mentally! 👍🏻 🍷
When that’s me I just have to get back on the straight and narrow soon after or I can slip back to my “all the wine and food” days very easily 🤪
Exciting @diege re wedding fitting on Friday . I’m sure it will look lovely ☺️
Here’s to a whoosh week ahead for all

unicornsarereal72 · 20/02/2022 13:34

Thank you for the motivation. Think if you are too punitive then you will quickly fall off the wagon. My plan is to eat the cake or pizza but in moderation. Looking at what a healthier portion would be. We shall see how it goes.

Good luck with the dress fitting @diege I'm sure you are going to look amazing.

diege · 20/02/2022 21:18

The dress! 😅 Have kept within today's calories, substituting my baked beans calories for a cream egg 🤣 I'm bloody starving!

diege · 20/02/2022 21:24

Arghh it won't let me a photo! 😫

camperqueen54 · 20/02/2022 21:29

I will join. I'm 55 and just started with Noom. Also just bought a rowing machine. Got about a stone and a half to lose.

frosties24 · 21/02/2022 00:56

Welcome camper
@diege yes! send a photo of the dress ☺️

unicornsarereal72 · 21/02/2022 07:25

👋🏻 @camperqueen54

Hope you can get a picture of the dress up @diege when is the big day?

Well first day of half term. We are off out for breakfast. Plan is to adjust the food for the rest of the day to accommodate. Carbs are my Downfall.

camperqueen54 · 21/02/2022 08:29

So happy. Noom says I can have a waffle with honey. Just weight myself and it's going in the right direction 😁

diege · 21/02/2022 16:22

Mmm waffles....
Pictures of The Dress attached...Wedding early August - just hope I don't peak too early as only have around 9 pounds to go... Unlikely at my current rate of weight loss though!
