I thought a thread would help keep me motivated.

I started on the 27th December. Weighed in at 15st 12lb after gaining 4 stone over the last 2 years

I set my eating window between 12-6pm.

I don't plan to weigh regularly as I get obsessed with the scales. I really want need to lose 6 stone this year!

Anyone else want to join me?

Yes please! I've started today and plan to do 11-7. Have you done it before? I'm planning to calorie count too but am hoping with less snacking it will be easier to stay on top of that.

Weighed in at 13st 9 this morning and hoping to get to 11.5 stone by August

danni0509 · 01/01/2022 12:54

Hi twinkydink I have done it a few times now, definitely works for me. I just fall off the wagon! I'm totally capable of losing weight, I lost a load 2 years ago, just went awol and piled it all plus more back on. I would be over the moon if I could lose the lot this year.

I had a ham sandwich and crisps at 12 and have a big bowl of chicken stir fry for tea and a walnut whip for after.

I honestly live for the hours of 12-6 Grin

I’m going to join in if I may!
Lockdown weight went up to 12.5stone with food being one of the few things that made me happy! But now that none of my clothes fit anymore, think I need to do something to help me this year! Plus hoping to try for a baby so optimising my weight will definitely help.

I work shift patterns so it may not always be easy but I’m hoping to do 12-7 (6 hours sounds very hard OP but good on you!) we can do this 💪🏽

22in22 · 01/01/2022 14:10

I'll join you!

If I count my morning cup of tea my eating period will be 9am - 7pm but I don't usually eat until around midday. I finish work at either 6pm or 9pm and have an epic commute so need to be quite disciplined to not binge on crap I've bought at the station on my way home.

I lost some weight last year with a combination of IF and calorie counting so would like to get back into that routine which has slipped over the past couple of months.

Hi hopeful777 & 22in22 the more the merrier Smile

Are you all planning to get weighed weekly?

OP posts:
hopeful777 · 01/01/2022 17:16

I’m not sure how quickly the weight drops but it may be nice to see progress with weekly weights. I’m also going to slowly increase my step count to try and help- aiming for 5-10k steps a day.

I could have written this myself. IF works really well for me if I stick to it. I don't even find it that hard. I think I just couldn't be arsed to continue to make an effort.

2022 is my weight loss year!

LesLavandes · 01/01/2022 17:19

Joining!

Humphriescushion · 01/01/2022 17:20

Joining! Starting monday though!

dubious21 · 01/01/2022 17:24

Yes please! I tried it last year and lost about 1st in 8 weeks but I struggled with quite strong headaches during my morning fast period and eventually I gave up. When I was in the swing of it, it was easy, worked well and helped me to feel in control so I would definitely like to give it another try.

MissNothing1991 · 01/01/2022 17:38

I'm usually a 10-6 or 11-7, took a month break for Christmas that I now sorely regret lol

NewYearsEars · 01/01/2022 17:49

I need this thread, have lost 4 stone over past two years but another 4 to lose. I have been able to lose weight using IF, I find it controls hunger as I can have two decent meals if I don’t eat at other times. If I am going out for a meal in the evening I fast the rest of the time so even this fits the diet.
Only problem is if I have even one alcoholic drink it all goes out the window 😖

I weigh weekly anyway (currently just watching the number go up Blush) - I might not post the starting number though. It''s pretty hefty!

Today I had tea with milk at 9am. Then scrambled eggs on toast at 1pm, some walnuts at around 5pm and just had chilli with garlic bread. Am pretty full so will aim to just drink water for rest of the evening. Will count a minimim 14 hours fasting from now so next meal will be after 8:30am.

namechangedyetagain · 01/01/2022 19:01

Please can I join, I have loads to lose, but no time to cook from scratch or go to meetings (was thinking about slimming world).

As I'm peri menopausal, what hours should I be looking at? Bit worried I won't get through a morning at work without anything. Can I drink tea?

Curlyreine · 01/01/2022 19:09

I'll join.
I weigh in kilos but I have 40 to lose. Need to move more.
Am doing Veganuary as I always feel better and fuller on a vegan diet, I think about what I eat rather than just grabbing anything. Will probably extend.

I will eat 12-7. I drink water and fruit/herbal teas as well. Looking at slow releasing food such as lentils and chickpeas. I love them, which helps.

I didn't have the energy to do it last year as we all got Covid and I went into survival mode but when I did it before, it worked wonderfully.

danni0509 · 01/01/2022 20:16

Namechangedyetagain I think 16:8 is quite a popular time. So eat between an 8 hour window to fit your lifestyle. 10am-6pm or 12-8pm etc.

I do a 6 hour window but have done 8 in the past.

Tuesday when my ds goes back to school I'm going to have an hours power walk 3 times a week for some exercise. And 2 other days I'm going to put YouTube on the tv and do 30 mins of toning exercise. (I'm terrified of loose skin)

Looking back at pics earlier of myself I'm a) shocked I've let myself pile it on and b) looking forward to getting it all off.

Anyone have physical symptoms? My legs ache, my varicose veins are coming back through (I had surgery to have them out) my back aches, my periods have gone awol which they always do if I go over about 14 stone. Urghh.

LifeBeginsNow · 01/01/2022 20:33

I'm already on this and have done really well so far. I lost all of my baby weight doing 16:8 and got to my second goal. Christmas week I didn't do any fasting and only managed a couple of days this week. I know I put on already but Sunday is weigh in day so I'll record the current damage.

I use a free app called Zero to keep track of fasting periods as each day starts and ends differently. At the end of the week, I get an email telling me how many hours I fasted for. 95+ seems to be the sweet spot for losing weight for me.

Good luck all! Hopefully you like black coffee as that's allowed during the fast and seems to keep hunger away.

NewYearsEars · 01/01/2022 20:38

@namechangedyetagain I drink plenty of tea with milk in during my fast period. It is enough to keep hunger at bay and hasn’t stopped me losing weight. My gp recommended I do that and said it wouldn’t stop the fast working but would protect my stomach lining as I had stomach ulcers years ago.

namechangedyetagain · 01/01/2022 20:50

That's good to know as I'd really struggle to function without tea first thing!

I guess anything I do will be an improvement on now. Weight has piled on. Combination of lockdown, studying/ stress eating and peri menopause. Also have finally made an appointment about hrt so hoping I'll soon feel a little better 🤞

danni0509 · 01/01/2022 21:06

I always drink tea with milk when fasting. I don't really drink plain water, other than in my tea (counts right? 🤣) I should maybe start. Eyes up bottled water sitting in fridge for the last few months

Ive been doing this for about 6 weeks now and it has made a noticeable difference. I find it really easy and sustainable as I can flex it around things like brunches/ meals out etc. I find eating lots of protein for my last meal of the day is the key to suppressing hunger the following morning. It makes a huge difference to me knowing that there is nothing that I absolutely can’t eat and it has stopped me obsessing about food like I do on any other restrictive diet. It’s also really levelled out my hunger, from about 4 weeks i was noticeably less hungry and my sugar cravings are dramatically reduced, which is probably a large contributor to my weight loss. I don’t weigh myself but I was about 2 stone over my ideal weight after lockdown and reckon I’ve lost about a stone of that now. My clothes feel so much better and I look slimmer. My friends noticed it last night. The best thing is that it doesn’t feel like a diet but like a new way of eating that really works for me. No bloating and no water retention. I just feel so much better. Really really recommend giving it a go.

Babymamamama · 01/01/2022 21:14

Evening all may I join too please. I could do with the encouragement. I’ve been fasting on and off the past year. I managed to lose around two stones (slowly). And before Christmas I had about another half stone to go. But I’ve put on half a stone again in December as soon as I stopped the fasting. So gutting. So I’ve restarted again as of today. And determined to lose a full stone by spring. I like coffee with coconut milk during the fasting period. Or herbal teas. I tend to fast in the day and then eat in the evening. I think it may get easier to get back into the routine once DC is back in school. Happy new year everyone.

danni0509 · 01/01/2022 21:25

Mrsjhalpert your post is exactly how I feel, I had a McDonald's chicken sandwich meal yesterday, I felt zero guilt and still stuck to my 'diet' eating it. Feels so good not being obsessed over calories / points etc. I eat anything in my eating window and not restricting myself to low fat foods. Well done on sticking to it for the last 6 weeks.

Hi to everyone who has joined.

Yes me, 15 st 8 today which is a bit grim. I'm on chemotherapy and HRT until March and have gained nearly three stone in the year I have been on it.

The reason we are trialling stopping it is weight gain, I said to my consultant 'I can't just keep getting fatter can I?".

I don't eat junk food, fried food or snack so have no idea if I will lose weight by restricting my window - depressing 😬, but I am in, starting tomorrow, I'm planning on 1-7 which is essentially cutting out a bowl of porridge and a piece of fruit for me. Not sure that is enough, I will add in an extra 30 mins of brisk walking on the days I can do that.

Thanks for having me 😂.

GreenClock · 01/01/2022 21:50

Great thread !

I did it successfully in September, October and November. I followed 16:8. I didn’t count calories during the “eating phase” which meant that I probably didn’t lose weight as quickly as I could have, but the end result was over a stone lost and clothes fitting much better nonetheless. I love pasta and bread and continued to consume both regularly. I also had a carby takeaway on a weekly basis.

I walked 70k steps every week without fail. I set a weekly target rather than a daily one because in certain days 10k is impossible for my lifestyle, but on others I can easily do 13-15k.

I drank a couple of cups of green tea daily. It may be hocus pocus but I think it raised metabolism. It didn’t harm, anyway!

Luckily I like black coffee and mineral water.

The downside was that I drank too much Diet Pepsi.

I started again today. Good luck to us all!
