Mutual support thread for people with a lot of weight to lose. Part III

alphaechokiwi · 10/10/2021 18:29

This is a mutual support thread for people who have a lot of weight to lose. The original thread started with a poster who wanted to lose 9 stone and has evolved from diet advice to offering each other mutual long term support. Most of us have started in the morbid obese range or with a BMI in the high 30's (ish).
Everyone is welcome, regardless of where you are on your 'journey'. We have some inspiring stories. But also lots of us are muddling along, sometimes doing well and sometimes not so well.
We're all at different points. Some have lost lots of weight and are now maintaining. Others part way through a big weight loss and others starting out. We try to offer encouragement, congratulations or consolations where needed. We are respectful of different approaches and recognise that everyone has their own unique set of circumstances.

Well, I gained 100g, which is nothing really. I also lost 1.2kg of fat and gaine d 1.3kg of muscle. So yay.

I’m not good at coping with the gym on my own, so I didn’t do the workout my trainer set for me (she’s on holiday). So I feel sad about that. I’m just not good at the gym if my trainer is not there. I’m missing her already and it’s only day 1 and 3 weeks to go lol.

SnowyMouse · 20/12/2021 17:30

That's good @wombatsandstuff

SnowyMouse · 21/12/2021 11:27

I've done my weigh in:

SW: 14 stone 4
CW: 13 stone 1 (week 16, 21 dec, 1 lb loss)
GW: 13 stone 0 (Christmas)

so I haven't quite made my goal weight Sad

alphaechokiwi · 21/12/2021 11:51

@SnowyMouse - very nearly almost there! A 1lb loss is fantastic anyway in December with all the Christmas food about. You still have a few days, you might just do it.... But well done on your achievement so far.
@wombatsandstuff - great that you are gaining muscle / losing fat. That's much more important than the scales. But 100g is such a small gain, it's probably just a fluctuation due to water. Good luck with the gym - it's hard without someone motivating and pushing you sometimes.

Thanks @alphaechokiwi - I go away on the 23rd, where I'll be eating everything til the 27th, so I expect to put weight on. I'm being good until then.

WeightlossKin · 21/12/2021 12:14

@SnowyMouse you've done so fantastically well and you've lost a pound so close to Christmas, I'm so jealous! Please remember that these targets are numbers we've applied to ourselves and in the grand scheme of your weight loss 1lb off target deserves to be celebrated just as much as being at that target. I hope you can find it in yourself to be proud ⭐

I've gained 2.5lbs since Thursday? 🤔 Trying not to be absolutely furious and failing. The problem with a gain is it's so easy to spiral into saying 'eff it all' and eating an enormous pile of crisps for dinner.

wombat as long as you're still going to the gym I think you should be proud of yourself! Trainers are there to give motivational so it makes sense to struggle without. You're doing amazingly well to go at all with or without a trainer in my opinion!

@alphaechokiwi you're doing so well going back to intermittent fasting! How odd that low carbs had such a negative impact. you'll be back below that BMI range soon! You can do it!

SnowyMouse · 21/12/2021 12:23

Thanks @WeightlossKin , good point - I don't start to overeat til the 23rd when I go away. Oh hugs, I'm sorry you've gained Sad It is easy to spiral.

Roussette · 21/12/2021 13:18

And I've put on 2.25lbs since Friday, god knows why, I always eat and drink on a weekend and this last one wasn't to excess.

Like weightless says, I'm determined not to think oh sod it and let it spiral, but I'm just picking up one of the DCs today home for Christmas and who knows what's going to happen. I'm going to keep trying if I can

Good luck everyone Xmas Wink

Roussette · 21/12/2021 13:18

Sorry that should've read Weightloss

SnowyMouse · 21/12/2021 16:06

Good luck with not letting it spiral, @Roussette

Roussette · 21/12/2021 16:45

Thanks Snowy you too.
However one of the DCs and me have just made a pile of homemade sausage rolls (with hoisin apple and sage) for the Christmas break and they are my favourite so I'm not sure I hold out much hope!

SnowyMouse · 22/12/2021 13:29

Oh dear @Roussette, I don't think I would be able to resist in your shoes!

alphaechokiwi · 22/12/2021 17:34

@WeightlossKin and @Roussette I'm sorry you've gained. It's so frustrating for you both.
Enjoy Christmas and start afresh afterwards!

Merry Christmas everyone! I lost another 1.2kg this week.,. happy days. Hopefully I won't put too much back on over the next few days 🤣.

WeightlossKin · 25/12/2021 11:15

Well done @alphaechokiwi!

Weighed myself this morning 😂 Christmas treat. Have lost a pound since last week. A temporary loss as I had chocolate for breakfast 😳 won't be weighing myself now until 31st!
Merry Christmas everyone 🥰🎄

alphaechokiwi · 25/12/2021 12:57

I had toblerone for breakfast 🤣🤣🤣🤣. A STS will be a win for me next week xxx

OP posts:
SnowyMouse · 27/12/2021 17:07

I've had loads of choc and yummy food, no way will I STS!

Roussette · 27/12/2021 20:26

It's all gone to pot here! Hardly surprising... adult DC's home, fridge bursting, and them cooking huge meals (can't complain!) and this morning I got on the scales and I'd gaines 5lbs! How the heck can I gain that much in less than a week?
Tomorrow another SO (significant other of one of the DCs) arrives so it will be more eating drinking and making merry, so there is NO HOPE at the moment.

My only worry is...my mindset is a bit shot to pieces and how will I get back on track Shock

wombatsandstuff · 28/12/2021 11:59

I think I win as I’ve lost weight in the last week. Not sure how much but around 300-500g. Okay not much but I’m counting it as a win. I don’t have the gym machine to know for sure but my scales show a loss.

I’ve also decided to track all my food for a couple of weeks at least. To get an idea of house much I’m eating.

Roussette · 28/12/2021 14:00

Well done wombat. I'm jealous!

WeightlossKin · 28/12/2021 14:51

I'm jealous too! Well done! 😊

SnowyMouse · 28/12/2021 17:04

well done @wombatsandstuff!

I've put on 2.5 lb, could have been worse!

wombatsandstuff · 28/12/2021 17:21

Thanks guys. I hope to lose more through the new year, still got 75 kg to go.

SnowyMouse · 28/12/2021 18:45

Good luck. I've got 3.5 stone to go.

WeightlossKin · 29/12/2021 09:35

I've got about 3.5 to go too!
That's not that bad @UpOnDown!

I do think weighing in so close to Christmas means we're weighing in some water weight from a sudden change in diet! Hopefully most of it comes back off easily 😊
