Mutual support thread for people with a lot of weight to lose. Part III

alphaechokiwi · 10/10/2021 18:29

This is a mutual support thread for people who have a lot of weight to lose. The original thread started with a poster who wanted to lose 9 stone and has evolved from diet advice to offering each other mutual long term support. Most of us have started in the morbid obese range or with a BMI in the high 30's (ish).
Everyone is welcome, regardless of where you are on your 'journey'. We have some inspiring stories. But also lots of us are muddling along, sometimes doing well and sometimes not so well.
We're all at different points. Some have lost lots of weight and are now maintaining. Others part way through a big weight loss and others starting out. We try to offer encouragement, congratulations or consolations where needed. We are respectful of different approaches and recognise that everyone has their own unique set of circumstances.

@wombatsandstuff - that's an amazing result over Christmas - well done.
I've had a few over indulgent days, but determined to make today the last of those. I've got 15-18 kg to go (I'll decide when I get under a BMI of 25). I'm quite focused on making that happen in the first half of the year. I had a long stall after the summer holidays in 2021 but at least didn't go backwards and I'm still 35kg down overall.

A massive well done to everyone for what's been achieved this year and the very best of luck to everyone - we can do this in 2022!!!

Hi all just a little question....just wondering how to get Saxenda in Ireland? Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas 🎄

alphaechokiwi · 30/12/2021 13:30

@Specialshae - I don't think we have any Saxenda users on this thread who could advise you. Sorry. You could ask in the Craicnet section, or look for some of the specific Saxenda threads in this section. Good luck

Weighed in today and haven't gained any additional Christmas weight! I was hoping to have lost half a pound 😂 wishful thinking.
I want to get as close to a 12lb (5-6kg?) loss in January as possible 😬 but I am aware that's a potentially unrealistic goal. I'm going to be upping my exercise and refocusing on a strict diet 🤞hoping the 'sort of maintenance' over December means it'll give my body a shock to get back on it properly.

@alphaechokiwi how are you doing? Did you manage to have that one last indulgent day and leave it there? You've done so well! 😊

alphaechokiwi · 31/12/2021 13:42

@WeightlossKin - that's an excellent result over Christmas and you have an ambitious goal for January, but so have I!!! Fingers crossed we can do it! I had my last day of chocolate and I'm back to my fasting pattern now.
Happy new year everyone xx

WeightlossKin that is very impressive.

I just know I've put on weight and tonight is a noshing evening with two close friends, so this week, I just can't bear to get on the scales. A week ago I appeared to have put on 5lbs, but I'm hoping that was water retention or something. It's just my adult DCs and their partners have all been here (last lot just gone!) and it's been wall to wall eating and drinking since before Christmas!

I am determined to tackle this when tonight is over, so the mind is willing!

And a Happy New Year to everyone too!

SnowyMouse · 31/12/2021 17:27

I've just weighed, and I'm back to 13 stone 0.75 which was my pre-Christmas weight!

Happy New Year!

Roussette · 31/12/2021 18:18

Well done Snowy that's fab!

SnowyMouse · 01/01/2022 19:19

Thanks, i hope to get below 13 soon!

WeightlossKin · 01/01/2022 19:36

@Roussette I hope you find it easier from today! You can definitely tackle it now festivities are over 😊 goodluck for when you do weigh in, don't let it defeat you or demotivate you! We can do it 💪

@SnowyMouse that's a great achievement, what a good way to start on track for the new year! You're not far off being in the next stone bracket at all 😊

Here is a sort of non scale victory: I deliberately ordered some bits in the sale at a size smaller than I am so I had something to look forward to shrinking into. Picked them up today... And everything already fits and has room to spare 😂 great in that I'm smaller than I realised.... But some of it is summer stuff so I would hope for it to be too big by the time it's weather appropriate!

SnowyMouse · 01/01/2022 19:52

Thanks @WeightlossKin Hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

Well done on the NSV! That's great!

Roussette · 01/01/2022 19:55

Weoghtloss that's brilliant. How clothes fit is my motivation totally because in the end weight is just numbers isn't it...

I have put on 4lbs since 16th December which I am fed up about, as I was only 0.5lbs off of my goal weight back then. I had a bit of a new years hangover this morning so walked five miles this morning and that was good. Too much chocolate and cheese in the house, so normality has not quite started but it won't be long, I've not given up that's for sure.

Good luck everyone, keep on keeping on Smile

Rebuildingconfidence · 02/01/2022 10:29

Happy new year everyone!

Here's to reaching goals in 2022.

My weigh in this morning, I am 99kgs at last! Not sure how but I have been at the gym and also a big walk yesterday, and not too many snacks.

29/10 104
28/11 103
9/12 101
18/12 101
2/01 99

I really want to ramp up my weight loss this year. I was looking at very old fb photos yesterday with my kids and one of them said in awe "you looked soooo much better" and it is true, I did!

I don't want another summer or Christmas or birthday at this size.

Good luck to you all!

ScottishBeth · 02/01/2022 10:55

Happy new year everyone! I hope you all had a good Christmas. Mine was fine, but my parents both got covid, which changed our plans somewhat.

@WeightlossKin you have loads to celebrate! Both the NSV and no gain over Christmas! Well done!

@alphaechokiwi I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that you'll achieve your goal before the summer! But you have done well overall, even if it's not what you've hoped.

@SnowyMouse well done on getting back to pre-Christmas weight so soon!

@Rebuildingconfidence that is fantastic! Congratulations!

@Roussette it's frustrating to have put on weight, but please don't worry! 4lb isn't that much over Christmas, and it will come off again. And it's Christmas!

I weighed myself this morning for the first time since 18th December. I was 86.2kg, which is a gain of 1.2kg. My lowest weight was on 10th December, which was 84.5kg, but I've had my birthday and Christmas since then. I have had a reasonably indulgent Christmas, so am not too worried. Hopefully I can get back down to that in the next couple of weeks, and then continue. It should be easier to eat healthily for the next few months. I will have the odd meal out, but nothing major. Though there is still a lot of chocolate in the house! But I think I can be disciplined about that.

SnowyMouse · 02/01/2022 11:45

@Rebuildingconfidence well done on getting sub 100!

@ScottishBeth That's not a massive gain, hopefully you'll get rid of it soon. I couldn't have chocolate in the flat.

Roussette · 02/01/2022 19:02

Well... I have just finished all the chocolate, I have this ridiculous idea if I eat it all in one day it doesn't count Shock

Onwards and upwards. Rebuilding WELL DONE. That's such good news

alphaechokiwi · 03/01/2022 10:54

🤣 @Roussette - I did exactly the same. My good intentions were undone by New Year's treats... All gone now. I'm dreading the scales....

OP posts:
WeightlossKin · 03/01/2022 13:11

Thanks 😊 nice to have lost inches, annoying it isn't showing on the scale. I keep thinking "if the inches go the weight will follow" but not sure how true that will be. Feel like my body might be so determined to hold onto the fat that it's just willing to suck it in tighter but not get rid of it!!

@Roussette those 4lbs will go again! 😂 Especially if there's no chocolate left in the house.

@Rebuildingconfidence hooray!! Well done! Nothing like old photos to give motivation I imagine. 😊 I don't have any photos of me ever not being this size, so I'll make sure I take loads when I reach my target!

@ScottishBeth that's really not such a bad gain! Especially if you feel you've been a bit indulgent. I hope your parents are both okay after having covid.

@Roussette I did consider just eating all the chocolate in one day! But I'm going to try really hard not to. I'll be happy when it's gone, anyway. Though I want to enjoy eating it as well.

@WeightlossKin hopefully the weight will come off soon! It should do, surely? Haha, our bodies are weird! And thank you, I think my parents are mostly ok.

SnowyMouse · 03/01/2022 15:47

Can really see that big loss @Roussette! Well done you!

alphaechokiwi · 03/01/2022 15:47

Amazing transformation @Roussette - so inspiring. Thank you for sharing!

OP posts:
WeightlossKin · 03/01/2022 15:47

@Roussette it's really amazing to see the difference between your pictures!! Thank you so much for being brave and sharing. It's given me a bit of hope that that could be me one day! I'd love to have such awesome comparison pictures 😊 you must feel amazing!

@ScottishBeth you'd assume the weight will come off eventually?! 😂 It HAS to. I think what I need really is some consistency as Christmas was very on/off diet for me, poor fat cells are probably confused. Glad your parents seem okay. My dad managed to get covid last week. Luckily just has a bit of a cold. Think he's more struggling with living alone and not being able to go out than with covid!

Roussette · 03/01/2022 16:02

Thank you all, just wanted to post them and say it can be done and I'm the world's worst! I've been a size 20 and I've been a size 10 in my life and everything in between! And I rarely have pics taken of me, but just wanted one after the weightloss to keep me on track I s'pose... I just don't want to go back...

Sorry to hear about your parents Scottish, it is a worry I'm sure. Hope they're improving.

wombatsandstuff · 03/01/2022 16:20

I have one of those renpho tape measures that automatically uploads it to an app. I bought it like two years ago but it never used to go round me, yeah that’s how big I am. But now it goes round me so I’m going to measure once a month. And see how I go.
