Mutual support thread for people with a lot of weight to lose. Part III

alphaechokiwi · 10/10/2021 18:29

This is a mutual support thread for people who have a lot of weight to lose. The original thread started with a poster who wanted to lose 9 stone and has evolved from diet advice to offering each other mutual long term support. Most of us have started in the morbid obese range or with a BMI in the high 30's (ish).
Everyone is welcome, regardless of where you are on your 'journey'. We have some inspiring stories. But also lots of us are muddling along, sometimes doing well and sometimes not so well.
We're all at different points. Some have lost lots of weight and are now maintaining. Others part way through a big weight loss and others starting out. We try to offer encouragement, congratulations or consolations where needed. We are respectful of different approaches and recognise that everyone has their own unique set of circumstances.

I'm still 2lbs short of where I was mid December, but I'm OK with that. I did a long walk in the drizzle, mist and rain this morning so feel very righteous!

alphaechokiwi · 11/01/2022 16:22

@wombatsandstuff - well done. Any loss is a positive just after Christmas.
@Roussette - I'm glad I'm not the only one still making up for Christmas excessGrin.

Hi, I weighed in today:

SW: 15 stone 4
CW: 12 stone 11 (11 Jan, 3 lb loss)
GW: 9 stone 10

alphaechokiwi · 11/01/2022 20:57

Excellent result @SnowyMouse.... You must be thrilled.

Roussette · 11/01/2022 22:25

That's excellent Snowy well done!

alphaechokiwi · 16/01/2022 10:27

Minus 0.7kg this week. Less than I would have liked but I did have an encounter with some Jammy Dodgers a few days ago😂😱. I'm going to be away for a few days so not expecting a loss next week. Hope you are all doing well x

Roussette · 16/01/2022 15:59

I've stayed exactly the same for 2 weeks now! No problem, and it's not putting on, so I'll take that.

Well done alpha that's a good loss Smile

ScottishBeth · 16/01/2022 17:28

I was 85.5kg yesterday morning. I was quite pleased with that, until I looked at my Fitbit and saw that was just a 100g loss on the week before! Still, better than putting on! I had a pretty indulgent day yesterday, so I'm not expecting to lose loads this week, but I'll do my best from now.

@SnowyMouse that's an amazing loss! Well done!

@Roussette I actually love walking in the rain! I would be feeling very smug about that (just seen that it was days ago bit oh well).

@alphaechokiwi well done on a decent loss. I'm used to thinking about aiming for a 1-2lb loss a week, but weigh myself in kg now so got a bit confused. Anyway I googled it a couple of weeks ago and saw that 1lb is roughly 400g, so I think 700g is very respectable!

SnowyMouse · 16/01/2022 19:25

Well done @alphaechokiwi , it's a good loss.

You're right @ScottishBeth, it's still a loss.

SnowyMouse · 18/01/2022 11:18

Hi, here's my weekly weigh-in:

SW: 15 stone 4
CW: 12 stone 10 (18 Jan, 1 lb loss)
GW: 11 stone 9 (overweight bmi)

alphaechokiwi · 18/01/2022 11:21

Excellent result this week @SnowyMouse

Thanks!

wombatsandstuff · 18/01/2022 12:43

I lost 500g this week, which is okay. I definitely ate too many muffins and greggs sausage rolls, so I’m going to cut down on them this week, and hopefully lose more by next Monday.

wombatsandstuff · 18/01/2022 12:44

When I say 500g is okay, I mean like I have like 70kg to get to overweight so 500g isn’t much for me.

alphaechokiwi · 18/01/2022 13:06

Hi @wombatsandstuff - a loss is a loss I'd say. It's going in the right directionSmile

OP posts:
SnowyMouse · 18/01/2022 14:50

500 g is good! That's just over a lb.

Roussette · 18/01/2022 16:41

Well done Snowy!

And Wombat... on my journey with this I was always happy with 1lb. That's all I lost quite often. Occasionally 2lbs, but often 1lb.

I got on the scales this morning and I was gobsmacked to see I had reached my goal weight. I wish I had taken a pic of the scales because I don't hold out hope it will stay there!
I do put it down to doing quite a lot of walking lately.

So....

SW (April 2021) 13st 11lbs.
GW 10st 10lbs
CW 10st 10lbs!

Now is the tricky bit of maintaining....

SnowyMouse · 18/01/2022 17:08

Wow, well done @Roussette ! That's great news! Grin Grin Good luck with maintaining!

Roussette · 18/01/2022 17:10

Thanks Snowy, I think the GW will last a nano-second as we are away in a week or two with lots of eating and drinking but I know I got there and can do it again!

alphaechokiwi · 18/01/2022 17:40

@Roussette - huge congratulations! Well done. Woo hoo!!!!

OP posts:
Roussette · 19/01/2022 06:59

Thank youuuuu... Grin

I did celebrate last night with homemade sausage rolls, chips and beans which is really not the right mindset, but today is another day!

bippityboppity87 · 19/01/2022 20:17

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't been around in an age, just generally been feeling like poo, had a bunch of blood tests to try and get to the bottom of it. Turns out I have folic acid anaemia, so I've been prescribed tablets for that and then more blood tests in 3 months time to see if it improves. Plus IBS (which I knew it was, but I think they had to do a process of elimination until they could definitely confirm)

I've managed to put a stone back on 😑 I'd like to think of it as a minor setback. But haven't been too gruelling with calorie counting for now, just mainly focusing on making better choices food wise oh and bought some actimal. Not sure if they're any good, but worth a shot I suppose

I also bought B12 vitamin and apple cider vinegar tablets to see if that helps. As it would be nice to have at least one day without a 3 hour nap!

Anyway. Hope you're all well Smile

SnowyMouse · 19/01/2022 20:21

Sorry you've been feeling rubbish, hope the anaemia improves. Good luck with all your changes! @bippityboppity87

Roussette · 19/01/2022 20:36

So sorry to hear that bippity. There is nothing worse than having to think about food when you're feeling poorly. Hope your tests next time show improvement for you Smile

ScottishBeth · 22/01/2022 16:01

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a nice weekend.

@SnowyMouse and @wombatsandstuff well done on your loss, both. 500g doesn't sound like much, but I think you can only lose a lot of weight if you do it slowly. It'll never stay off if you lose loads at once. It is frustrating sometimes though!

@Roussette that is amazing news! Well done!

@bippityboppity87 sorry to hear things have been tough. I hope the medication works and you start to feel better soon. A bit of weight gain is understandabl, and I'm sure it is a minor setback. Nice to see you here!

I'm a STS this week (85.5kg). I was disappointed until I remembered how much I ate last weekend, so I must have done well the rest of the week! But I'm confident about the coming week. And I started off well. I met a friend for brunch this morning and had granola! It was actually yummy! Luckily my friend is a vegetarian so I didn't have any bacon staring at me!
