Optimistic October

Hi, here's the new thread. Its pouring with rain , the days are getting shorter, so I thought we needed some optimism.

8st 12 this morning, aiming for a bit of a loss this month, I would be pleased with a pound. I've got my Dad coming down for two weeks tomorrow so going to be quite busy, which generally helps.

Hi @Octopus37 and thanks for the new thread. I start October incredibly disappointed in myself. Only 2lbs down on September. I know that I had a cold and couldn't exercise etc. for part of the month, but I feel like I really need to make more of an effort and realise this is not going to happen without work from me.

At this rate I won't be at my goal weight for another year, which is absolutely ridiculous. This thread is actually good for keeping me accountable as I see what I have achieved or not each month.

LBB2020 · 01/10/2021 09:59

Thanks for the new thread Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 01/10/2021 10:25

Thanks Octopus.

I didn't weigh today but going by last couple of weigh ins I've lost somewhere between 2 and 3 pounds in September. I'll take that as I really haven't been 'dieting' - no calorie counting and no decent fasts just trying to be a bit careful on the days I can and to move more.

I'm a bit rubbish at goals recently. Obviously I'd love to lose half a stone in October by magic but in terms of effort I'm willing to put in and where in the list of priorities weight loss sits currently I can't see it. I will hope to lose 3lbs or more.

LadyDanburysHat · 01/10/2021 10:56

A friend who I was moaning to about my lack of weight loss suggested I try 5:2 but I worry that I would just be a miserable crabby bitch on the fast days. But it does mean that I can fit it around when suits me to diet, and just eat a normal sensible diet the rest of the time. I just don't know if I can do it.

Octopus37 · 02/10/2021 08:31

@TheHoneyBadger 2 to 3 pounds in September is great. 8st13.5 this morning, went out with friends last night and the food was quite salty, I had nachos. Hoping its a temporary gain like my Domino's gains.

LadyDanbury's Hat, 2 pounds in a month is fab. You should be pleased with yourself.

LBB2020 · 02/10/2021 20:12

@LadyDanburysHat and @TheHoneyBadger well done on your September loss!

Octopus37 · 03/10/2021 08:30

Not doing well here, 9st this morning. My Dad is down and wanted Chinese. Awful weather so only managed just over 5,000 steps yesterday. Feeling very bloated, hoping I can fix this in the next few days.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 03/10/2021 11:13

Weather has been awful here too so haven’t hit my step last the past couple of days. We had takeaway and chocolate last night so feeling a bit disgusting this morning. Off for a walk around a local NT estate so hopefully will get my steps in today.
How is your dad doing now @Octopus37?

Octopus37 · 04/10/2021 07:35

8st13.25 this morning so down a bit, managed just over 9,000 steps yesterday. My Dad is doing ok thanks @LBB2020, he's physically much better amazingly. He is going back a week on Friday, so wont be staying down for as long as last time. Going to try and get out and about with him a bit when the weather's fit.

OP posts:
sparklyglitterball · 04/10/2021 21:37

Hey all, I had lost 1lb on Friday but it's gone back on again over the weekend 🙄 hopefully just a temporary fluctuation. I managed to get a couple of runs in over the weekend, and we resisted the temptation to get a take away........made a nice Thai curry instead. However, I'm finding myself nibbling whenever I'm I'm the kitchen, preparing snacks for the dc etc. Need to stop that! Your losses are fantastic @LadyDanburysHat and @TheHoneyBadger! I'd be really pleased with that.

sparklyglitterball · 04/10/2021 21:41

Hope you had a nice NT walk @LBB2020, we're members and used it quite often in lockdown. @Octopus37 I hope you can enjoy the time with your dad, as lovely as it is having family to stay can also be quite stressful at times! Hope everyone else is doing well.

Octopus37 · 05/10/2021 06:29

Thanks @sparklyglitterball so far so good. 8st12.75 this morning.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 05/10/2021 09:16

Glad your dad is doing well @Octopus37, hope you get to have some nice days out together during his visit.
We had a lovely albeit very muddy walk on Sunday, thank you @sparklyglitterball! DS1 is still a little unsteady on his feet so was covered in mud by the time we left but was very happy!
Another not great day yesterday as I took my aunt to the garden centre which resulted in tea and a big slice of cake Blush It’s a lovely sunny morning here so will try to get out for a walk with DS2 after baby group

TheHoneyBadger · 05/10/2021 14:57

Up but not much here. Very hectic so apologies for just flying visits.

Hope Dad and kids are getting on a bit better this time Octopus.

Octopus37 · 06/10/2021 07:14

Thanks @TheHoneyBadger, its a bit better this time. He's only here till a week on Friday so not for as long, so easier overall.

Had a day yesterday where I just ended up eating stodge, was so tired and hungry. 8st13 this morning, my Dad wants to go for a meal tonight as well. Aiming for damage limitation.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 06/10/2021 09:53

I couldn’t stop eating yesterday! Taking the baby (who’s not really a baby now as he’s just turned one!) for a long walk when he wakes from his nap! The sun is out this morning so going to make the most of it!

LadyDanburysHat · 06/10/2021 11:51

Hi all, been missing in action for a couple of days as I was working US hours. It messed up my food completely and I didn't log anything. I am 11st 12 this morning though, a new low.

Thank you for the kind comments @LBB2020@Octopus37@sparklyglitterball

I do have a bit of a cold so exercise has been a struggle too.

Well done on still getting out for the walks @LBB2020 this weather doesn't help at all. I need to hunt out scarves and hats.

Octopus37 · 07/10/2021 07:36

8st13.75 after a Toby Carvery last night. Need to sort my steps out, that seems to be my main downfall at the moment.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 07/10/2021 09:16

Haven’t weighed but assuming still up as I’ve had hungry evenings recently. Guessing it’s the change to the cold.

LBB2020 · 07/10/2021 14:52

Another new low! That’s amazing @LadyDanburysHat!
I managed to get out for a decent walk yesterday and this morning. Had a rough night last night with DS1 throwing up everywhere and waking DS2! I’ve already had 3 coffees today (too much really as I’m still breastfeeding but needs must!). Hope everyone has a better day than me Grin

sparklyglitterball · 07/10/2021 22:06

Yay @LadyDanburysHat!! You're doing well. @LBB2020 poorly dc's tag teaming through the night is a killer 😫 would have me reaching for the chocolate and coffee the next day. I've not been great with healthy eating this week, but not too dreadful either. Need to up the exercise, the fog and drizzle here today has not helped my lack of motivation to go out running.

Octopus37 · 08/10/2021 07:40

Well done @LadyDanburysHat. 8st13 this morning. I got pinged by the NHS app last night, apparently I was in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid last Friday. I dont have to self-isolate, but have been advised to get a PCR test. Feel like I'm getting a cold, but lateral flows so far have been negative. Fingers crossed its ok, will have to self-isolate until I get my PCR result. Bit of a nightmare cause I've got my Dad down, he's had his booster but only last week.

OP posts:
LadyDanburysHat · 08/10/2021 08:22

@TheHoneyBadger I can understand the not wanting to weight when you know you will be up. Sometimes it's worth it though, just to realise it may not be as bad as you think.

@Octopus37 sorry you've been pinged, hope it is just a cold you have.

@LBB2020 I hope the DC get better soon, it really is exhausting.

Octopus37 · 08/10/2021 10:59

Did another lateral flow test this morning, unfortunately it looks positive. Have posted under the covid thread. Already been for a PCR.
