I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

@roomfulloflove that's a lovely surprise for you. Eleven pounds that you now don't need to lose 😁

@roomfulloflove I'd be blissfully happy if I realised I was 11lbs lighter than expected. Unfortunately it's usually the other way around Blush

11st 6lbs again this Monday morning, so put a lb back on over the weekend, seems to be a pattern emerging ... I'd really really love to get to 11st 3lbs by next weekend as that's me back in the healthy BMI category!! Realistically more likely to be a lb or two over.
We had friends over for a BBQ yesterday and although I didn't go crazy it's obviously had an effect...plus now we have tons of left overs I have to try and eat healthily from, argh! Balancing my need to eat fixed portions with my hatred of food waste...

roomfulloflove · 27/09/2021 11:50

Ha yes @Keladrythesaviour and @MrsSoft I am really relieved- but I was going more on what I looked like in photos from the weekend when I met up with old friends- they all looked the same and I'd completely ballooned since last time we got together.

Yes it's hard with leftovers- I always am tempted to eat them all- then start afresh when they've gone!

FirstTimeMommy2021 · 27/09/2021 11:56

@MrsSoft what are you eating in a typical day for 1200 calories? I'm struggling 😕

Rainallnight · 27/09/2021 13:02

I weighed myself this morning and haven’t put anything on, thank goodness. I went out for dinner with DP, and exercised portion control but did have quite a lot of wine so I feel like I got away with murder Smile

Mamamia35 · 27/09/2021 13:30

Hi all, wondering if you have considered hypnosis for weight loss? I did this in 2019 and lost 2 stones with very little pain. A friend of mine had successfully lost a lot of weight and that motivated me to do it. I kept an honest food diary before I did it, which was an eye opener. The hypnotherapy makes you focus on problem foods: pies, crisps, sausage rolls were my staples. It made me eat 3 meals a day. I was terrible for skipping breakfast. I can't really explain it, I just didn't want to eat those foods and was more aware of feeling full. She also had tips of clearing away leftovers/freezing them (I'd keep them in the pot and go back and polish it off).

I've put a stone back on during lockdown which is what I want to lose, but hypnotherapy may be something to consider. I found a deal online for a local therapist in my area.

roomfulloflove · 27/09/2021 13:39

Hi @Mamamia35 that's good to hear it worked- I hadn't considered that - but it's definitely something to keep in mind.

I gave up sugar a few years ago through reading a really good book - and it was the same thing you say - I just didn't feel like eating it any more.

It's all faded away now and I'm eating a lot of sugar again- but I do know the mind can do amazing things!

I realise you didn't ask me Blush but if it helps my 1200 days look roughly like this:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs (no butter or milk) with lettuce, cherry tomatoes and cucumber and a cup of tea with semi-skimmed milk (205kcal)

Herbal tea

Lunch: quarter of a premade quiche with lettuce, cucumber and tomato (263kcal) OR half a tin of beans /heinz soup and salad and maybe a piece of bread (300-350ish) + herbal tea

Snack: half a grapefruit (50kcal)

Dinner: totally varies, BBC good food is great for 500/600kcal meals. I really liked the South African Chutney chicken with half a bag of pre boiled rice I had the other day (625kcal)

Cup of decaf tea with semi skimmed milk (23kcal)

That takes me to roughly 1200-1300kcal and I'm pretty full on that! Lots of salad on the side of all the meals, try and limit the carbs. So I don't really nee the rice with dinner, I could just have more salad or broccoli etc but if I've got the calories left I tend to use them.
I generally find if I go heavy on calories at breakfast, my day is way off, I can't catch back up. But if I keep to eggs and salad for breakfast as a low calories option (sometimes yoghurt and blueberries) then I've got enough to play with for the res tof the day that I can manage.

roomfulloflove · 27/09/2021 14:39

@Keladrythesaviour I would be totally starving if that's all I had in a day.

I think I'm at the 2000 calories mark.

Keladrythesaviour · 27/09/2021 14:43

I really thought I would be, but it's not been as bad as I expected! I don't get cross at myself if I go up to 1500, so I'm not super strict. Tea and water before a meal really help, especially herbal teas as they are calorie free.
Im always caffeine-free (haven't drink any for a year) so I think that helps me avoid any sugar craving slumps of energy.

FirstTimeMommy2021 · 27/09/2021 17:21

Thank you @Keladrythesaviour xx

veryanonymous · 27/09/2021 18:24

How are you doing @pinkpip100?
I didn’t lose anything last week 🙈 Am increasing my effort his week by starting couch to 5k!

Keladrythesaviour · 28/09/2021 09:46

How did everyones' day go? I'm back at 11st 5lbs so the weekend blip didn't last which I'm very pleased about!
My breakfast this morning Grin
I've got left over spanokopita (with salad) for lunch, homemade hummus and crudités for a snack and left over lamb burger and veg for dinner (no bread).

Just over 14 weeks until Christmas, lose a stone with me.
pinkpip100 · 28/09/2021 10:40

Hi @veryanonymous - pretty useless here, nothing lost at all because I didn't do anything differently. I think my biggest issues are: cakes/biscuits/chocolates are always available in the staff room - I just can't seem to resist, especially after lunch as I feel like I need something sweet to finish; late evening snacking - I seem addicted to sitting down with a cuppa and a treat once the kids are in bed and jobs done; weekends - crisps & a glass of wine (or just crisps without the wine).
Just read an article about type 2 diabetes, apparently even if you aren't overweight you are at risk of developing diabetes if you can't fit into the same size jeans that you wore at 21. The idea that it's not about being officially overweight but about being too heavy for your body. That definitely rang warning bells for me!

Well done on the couch to 5k. I definitely need to try to fit more exercise in.

Oh my life! I can’t honestly ever see me back in my 21-year-old jeans, and not just because of the horrific low-rise style 🙈
pinkpip100 · 28/09/2021 13:59

So true @veryanonymous 🤣

Rainallnight · 28/09/2021 14:05

I feel for you @pinkpip100. I’m completely powerless when that stuff is around and when I used to work in an environment like that I ate so much of it.

Hartleyhare1206 · 02/10/2021 08:10

Morning Everyone!

Weigh in today - 12st 8.3lbs so a loss of 1.5lbs which I’m very happy with.

Weekend looking a bit dicey as going to friends for lunch today and there is cake😱 also put for a family Sunday roast tomorrow. Just hope
I manage to stay on track.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend xxx

Keladrythesaviour · 02/10/2021 08:21

Congratulations @Hartleyhare1206! Weekends are always the killer especially now we are all socialising again. Remember to have fun and having one slice of cake won't out you off track - just try to stick to one Grin

How's everyone else doing, it's got a bit quiet in here!

Down another lb to 11st 4lbs, so I'm happy. I've had a few rubbish days where I've eaten far too much (work place cakes I'm looking at you). On Thursday I ate two donuts and a cookie Confused and the day after eate three slices of sourdough bread that wasn't on my food plan, just because a colleague was going to throw it away. I literally ate it plain and untoasted. I have no idea what is wrong with me Blush
Anyway, so pleased i have still lost the 2lbs this week. However I seem to be in a pattern of lose 2lb a week and put one back at the weekend, so it's in reality a 1lb weight loss!! Away this weekend so will be eating out a lot as no self catering facilities. Hoping to make good choices, not just for my waist line but also my bank balance...

Hartleyhare1206 · 02/10/2021 08:32

@Keladrythesaviour you are so right. I hated lockdown but it made losing weight easier for sure!

Well done on your loss! I wouldn’t be able to resist sourdough and cake either.

I shared a cheesecake filled biscoff choux-nut with my husband the other day. It was bloody amazing!! Was quite proud of my restraint in splitting one with him and not just having my own. Although now I know how amazing they are, I’m not sure I’d be able to make that choice again🤣🤣

roomfulloflove · 02/10/2021 10:58

I've had a really good week on the whole- mainly because I've been listening to an awesome podcast
Dr Rongan Chatterjee

It's all about living well- and there's loads of chat about keeping the gut healthy etc

It changed my mindset a bit to worrying about being hungry all the time

roomfulloflove · 02/10/2021 11:00

Still had a few binges on crisps and chocolate - but hope I'm moving away from that.

I bought some grapefruits and been having that before breakfast which has been good

It also said eating bitter or sour foods good for weight loss which is why I bought grapefruit and lemons

roomfulloflove · 02/10/2021 11:01

Not weighed myself yet! Saving that for Monday!

Keladrythesaviour · 02/10/2021 11:15

@roomfulloflove I love grapefruit! I have half a grapefruit as a snack on my break. Love it!

batmanladybird · 02/10/2021 12:04

I need to do this
