I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

My pie!

Just over 14 weeks until Christmas, lose a stone with me.
BasicMadeira · 24/01/2022 12:47

Looks delicious @Hartleyhare1206 love tenderstem broccoli too.
My specific aims this week are 15k steps a day, 2 L of water a day and cross trainer each morning for 20 mins.

Hartleyhare1206 · 24/01/2022 12:53

@BasicMadeira sounds like we are striving for the same thing (except I don’t have a cross trainer!)

Mum5net · 24/01/2022 21:10

That’s a beautifully artistic and gorgeous pie @Hartleyhare1206.
You young’uns are fairly piling on those steps. My average for jan Is 13 k a day so I’m going to have to make more of an effort.
Yes let’s do lots of food talk as it’s far better than the denial chat. @BasicMadeira like why are you called Madeira? After the cake, the drink or the place? Grin

One piece of news which is literally a bit of a bummer is I’m being sent for a colonoscopy on Saturday morn via a fast track gp referral possibly for ulcerated colitis. I’ve got to eat a white diet this week - white bread, white fish and tea biscuits and a 24 hr fast from Friday at 0900. No fibrous foods. And I’ve got litres and litres of de-clog substance to neck on Friday. So I’m confident the might be weighing less on Saturday morning. Fingers crossed it’s all routine.
Did eat a creme egg at 11am today as I felt it would disappear in Friday [Grin]

Hartleyhare1206 · 24/01/2022 21:27

@Mum5net sorry to hear about the colonoscopy - as you say fingers crossed all is well.
BUT - an excuse to eat white bread,
Plus knowing whatever I ate over the next few days would be flushed out and not count?! Wow!! Creme eggs for the win, I say! Xx

BasicMadeira · 25/01/2022 09:29

@Mum5net that is indeed a bummer about the colonoscopy. But hopefully it goes well and what an opportunity to eat only white food.
My name comes from from father scathingly calling plain cakes "basic maderia" and speaking with the confidence of a man who has never made a cake basic or not in his life! We were all spoiled by mothers cake baking. She no longer bakes much really apart from Christmas.
Are either of you on Fitbit and we could set up a hustle?

Hartleyhare1206 · 25/01/2022 11:08

Ooh this talk of cake is making me hungry!
No Fitbit for me I’m an Apple Watch gal I’m afraid 😢

Mum5net · 25/01/2022 15:44

Taking both your advice and grazing the white food while I can and multiple creme eggs and tonight, multiple beers. Taking extra for the team. From tomorrow the white diet is more restrictive so brilliant white... I've read it as tea biscuits all the way... On Friday night it goes peroxide though... (gulp)
I'm a Fitbit girl too, but I fancy changing to an apple watch.
Where it says track your Menstrual health I have written in my dog's dates in case we decide to breed her. Grin I wonder if Apple allows me to do that, too?
@BasicMadeira that's a great reason for the name
You guys are v funny. @Hartleyhare1206

Hartleyhare1206 · 28/01/2022 14:09

@Mum5net how are you feeling ahead of your procedure tomorrow? Ok I hope? Will be thinking of you - let us know how you are/how it goes xx

Week not ended well as DD has a cold/tummy pains/high temp and has had to have a covid test, which is obviously equating to an enforced and loonnnngggg period stuck in the house with her whilst she isolates pending results. DH not around much (work) so I’m stuck in and missing out on a huge amount of steps in the process. Also trying not to eat out of sheer boredom and frustration!! Hoping it doesn’t impact too much on weekend weigh in. Did a huge walk with friends on weds - so many hills I couldn’t breathe and talk at the same time, but banked me 20k steps. Thighs hurt so much I Walked like I’d shit my pants on Thursday 🤣🤣🤣

Mum5net · 28/01/2022 15:19

Walked like I’d shit my pants on Thursday 🤣🤣🤣
Haha @Hartleyhare1206 that could be both of us when I have to drink the 2litres Juice of Sluice ahead of procedure.
The hills and steps sound like a serious work out. The pre- Covid nursing not so much fun. My Covid student had scratchy throat, sore ears, swollen face, chills, body aches, loss smell, loss taste, headache, out of breath, felt sick, was sick, diarrhoea and face timed me constantly to complain. Is back here today for first time and now needs 'lovely food' to get her strength back.
And my day of no food excepting a slice of Toastie white with butter at 0845 is tough. Am on the chewing gum. Just about to make up my first 1 litre jug which is apparently better tasting if refrigerated. Have to take it at 5pm. I googled the reviews of 'MoviPrep' and it was like AIBU on Mumsnet. Extreme opinions. Actually it was hilarious.
Made me want to leave my own review. Apparently, I'll be on the toilet for 7 hrs and I need lots of vaseline before and after as well as three films downloaded on my fully charged iPad.
Will update later but will spare you an hour by hour commentary.
How you getting on @BasicMadeira?

Hartleyhare1206 · 28/01/2022 19:11

@Mum5net 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

BasicMadeira · 29/01/2022 08:54

Best of luck today @Mum5net and I hope your sick DDs are feeling better.
When you are recovered @Mum5net we can hustle in Fitbit if you fancy.
I have had a good week walk and water wise but had a very bad day on Wednesday (had white chocolate cravings, gave in, ate too much and crashed the rest of the day. I felt awful. Hungover from sugar. I have had words with myself about it)
I was 177.2 at the start of the week and am 178.2 this morning. Wednesday was bad.

Mum5net · 29/01/2022 13:04

All done! I have mild ulcerative colitis and will be treated accordingly. Still to leave my review on the Moviprep site- that will be fun to contribute.
So with all that prep and no eating I was sitting at 59.9 kg.
Can’t lie I thought I would have been way down and had made vast strides towards my target. Amazingly I don’t feel hungry though- just washed out. literally.
White Chocolate Wednesdays are to be avoided then for us all @BasicMadeira. Or can be reward days for remarkable losing.
But good re water and walking. These hover weights where we all just stay around the same or a little bit extra do make you fed up though. I will DM my email address for Fitbit
@Hartleyhare1206 How is Dd? At least cross trainer is in the house if you are barred from leaving house.
Blooming windy here

Hartleyhare1206 · 29/01/2022 15:04

@Mum5net sorry about colitis - sounds miserable? Hope they manage to get it under control quickly 😢
@BasicMadeira ooh a white choc binge sounds heavenly! Can see why the sugar crash wasn’t fun though. Don’t lose heart though. Sometimes a binge kickstarts things a bit and you weirdly end up losing afterwards like it’s rejigged your system or something?
1.2lbs off for me so 6.6lbs in total since restarting for 2022 post Xmas.
Wish I had a Fitbit not Apple Watch Now 😁😁

Hartleyhare1206 · 31/01/2022 14:14

Am a bad HartleyHare 🥴🥴🥴
Weekend involved a large glass of white wine, some Thorntons chocolates and a huge slice of a relatives home made chocolate cake…
I am trying to walk my legs off to make up for it, but I think I’d have to walk to Australia to sort that mess out 🤦‍♀️

Mum5net · 31/01/2022 20:47

@Hartleyhare1206 a sachet of 'MoviPrep' and no one would ever need to know about the wine and the chocolate Grin
I pushed the boat out and had three beers and chocolate cake and I've put on a kg. And I haven't walked my legs off. 12.5k today.
So, don't beat yourself up, tomorrow is a new month and we can all start over

Hartleyhare1206 · 31/01/2022 21:09

Amen to that!
Ps send that moviprep my way 😂

Hartleyhare1206 · 02/02/2022 10:05

How’s February going so far guys? X

Mum5net · 02/02/2022 12:16

Well, I'm into Day 2 of my belated advent calendar which awards a square of Cadbury's Dairy Milk.
Steps for Feb 1 were 13 374 and at 12 490 today so far.
Tonight's tea is Delia's tomato sauce, pasta and green veg. Grin
Might get my new meds this afternoon depending on work meetings.
Didn't weigh but I'm about 60.7 kg

What's for tea at your house? @Hartleyhare1206 @BasicMadeira

Hartleyhare1206 · 02/02/2022 12:37

@Mum5net weirdly the same tea as you - you made it sound so delicious the other week when you shared the recipe I’m making it tonight! With so much garlic that I’ll be safe from vampires for the next decade 🤣
LOVE the advent calendar idea!! Great work on all those steps too xx

BasicMadeira · 03/02/2022 10:19

Lots of walking being done here too. So far this week I have missed my 15k steps twice- both about 13.5k but not quite enough. I am holding my own weight wise. It's not rushing down but no movement upwards either. I am trying to look long term and a downward trend rather than consecutive weight loss. Does that make sense? I repeat my slow and steady mantra.
Last nights dinner was meatloaf and tenderstem broccoli and sweet corn. Creamy mash for everyone else but not me.
Let's not lose heart ladies and keep moving in the right direction.

Hartleyhare1206 · 06/02/2022 08:29

@BasicMadeira that makes total sense. I’ve realised myself that this whole “I’m on a diet and want to lose a stone in X amount of weeks” thing doesn’t work. I’m rigid and go all out for as long as I can do lose as much as I can, but then I go back to “normal” afterwards and then naturally regain weight.
Am trying to go with the flow now when disruptions come along. If I’m invited out for a meal I go, have what I want and enjoy it and just accept I probably won’t lose that week but the week after will be better. It’ll take longer but I don’t feel miserable and deprived so it’s more doable.
The meatloaf dinner sounds lovely - I’ve never made it before but sense it would go down well with the whole family so might be worth trying (I refuse to cook multiple meals for fussy people so like crowd pleasers!)
1.2lbs off for me this week, 7.8lbs in total since getting back on the waggon. Feeling the benefit of that now as my clothes are comfortable/on the looser side again.
Had a lovely carbonara (slimming world recipe) last night and was amazed how full I felt afterwards considering it was probably half the sized portion my former self would have had.
Hope you’re both having a lovely weekend x

BasicMadeira · 15/02/2022 13:48

Hello @Hartleyhare1206 @Mum5net
I have been very bad recently. Just over eating and it has caught up on me. Why the hell can I be so good in many other areas of my life can I not stop myself over eating? TBF to myself yesterday was the over eating day. The others were just life opening up again and meeting for a couple of drinks and then being so happy to be out chatting to friends that I get carried away and then the next day stodgy foods are called upon to fill the gap. Anyway I am still here, still trying, still walking lots and still drinking lots of water still using the cross trainer.
I hope you guys are okay? Post procedure @Mum5net all good?
Very self indulgent post above but wanted to stay in the loop.

Mum5net · 15/02/2022 22:06

@BasicMadeira Ditto your whole post. Gained 2 kg. Feel your pain.
@Hartleyhare1206 hope you are faring better
Haven't posted as a bit out of sorts. Topical meds for UC not fun. A pain in the bum actually.
Good news is I'm booked to go to Malaga for four nights with DD1 in about ten days' time. She has vaccine passport issue as had vaccines in two different UK countries so can't be sure we will actually go as glitch has appeared. Sad

Mum5net · 15/02/2022 22:11

Oh and forgot … here’s a belated birthday present from my pal … I love it but it is a challenge Grin

Just over 14 weeks until Christmas, lose a stone with me.
