Just over 14 weeks until Christmas, lose a stone with me.

I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

I don't use any apps actually @Mum5net. My Fitbit strap broke again and I didn't get round to sorting it out since the summer- it's a bit of a shame as I'm sure I've had some great weeks for steps. Although saying that I would usually go over 10k steps once or twice a week on a good week- so your steps sound really good.

I also was going to log all my food on my fitness pal - which I've used in the past- but couldn't download it properly this time for some reason so just cracked on without it all.

Would have been interesting to analyse all my stats.

I'm still listening to the Rongan Chatterjee podcast- it's a gp talking to a wide variety of health experts. I have it on in the background while I'm at work- and it's been great in terms of getting me into healthy eating, moving more and wanting to live healthily.

BasicMadeira · 19/10/2021 09:25

Well after a very good in some ways week and very bad in other ways week I am 1lb down.
I made scones on Saturday with white flour and it just was a disaster- they were delicious but sent me off on a white flour mad craving. Need to reset my white carbs button (sugar, rice, pasta and flour)
Twisted my ankle which is still sore so no exercise. Anyway. Week 1 in the right direction. Slow and steady will win this race!
Sorry to hear that your big weekend was not as planned @Hartleyhare1206
Well done on your losses everyone

Hartleyhare1206 · 19/10/2021 21:22

I’ve just weighed myself and I’ve gained half a stone since Saturday?? What??!!
I definitely over indulged over the weekend and let my hair down….but 1/2 a stone? It took my almost 5 weeks to lose that weight and I regained it all in 3 days??
I want to cry!!!

BasicMadeira · 19/10/2021 22:32

That's only the excess of salt and the food hasn't moved out of you yet. Take it easy tomorrow and Thursday and by Friday you will be back on track!
@Hartleyhare1206

Mum5net · 19/10/2021 22:54

Me, too Hartley, that’s what happened last week but I didn’t even get the fun of letting hair down. The good thing is you are a key squad member now and it will turn around.

Hartleyhare1206 · 20/10/2021 07:09

Oh I do hope you’re right @Mum5net @BasicMadeira!

I went to sleep last night having convinced myself the scales need new batteries or something 😄😄

Will consume lots of salad/fruit/water for a few days and weigh again.

Honestly I expected a couple of lbs to have gone back on but that much just wasn’t fair!

Xxx

BasicMadeira · 21/10/2021 09:12

Heading into the weekend now and going to give it my best shot to stay making good choices. Have changed my breakfast and upped my coffee quota to try and give me energy and willpower. Also going to bed with the kids (reading) so away from the kitchen!
How goes @Hartleyhare1206 @Mum5net?

Hartleyhare1206 · 21/10/2021 09:16

Sounds like a great strategy @BasicMadeira
I have lots of evening baths because it is then basically impossible to be in the kitchen eating!!

Ok this end - the shock of the scales did me a favour in a way as it completely curtailed my urge to let the weekends indulgences continue for even longer! Have had two days of “proper” food, loads of squash/water and just eating my meals without snacking and I already feel better for it.
Had to get my snug work skirt on today for the first time since last Thursday and it still zips up fine which I know it wouldn’t do if I was half a stone up (part of the reason I lost half a stone in the first place was to make my clothes fit better!) so hoping when I weigh on Saturday the damage will have evened out over the week and end up being more minimal than the 7.5lbs the scales suggested on Tuesday! Xx

Hartleyhare1206 · 21/10/2021 09:18

What have you changed your breakfast to @BasicMadeira?? Inspire me! X

BasicMadeira · 21/10/2021 14:40

That's good news about the snug skirt @Hartleyhare1206. I have put on a pair of trousers that are just a bit too tight (long top covers the muffin) just to keep me focused. I don't need new clothes I need to lose a stone in weight.
Glad that you have had a good week and that you kept yourself on track. I admire your will power.
My breakfast is nothing exciting just proper wholemeal bread toasted with butter. It's a small portion but a dense portion. I normally love my porridge oats but by the time I add the toppings (nuts, honey etc) the calories add up. Mind you I do love my breakfast and I find after an early dinner and early to bed that I need something filling. It's not a fast but I do try and have my main meal finished in the evening by six so that's a 14 gap from one meal to the other.

Hartleyhare1206 · 21/10/2021 15:11

Ooh proper bread is the best 🤤🤤🤤

Mum5net · 21/10/2021 21:23

So last two days down 0.1kg both days Grin but still 0.3kg higher than start day so have lost nothing overall.
However had X-ray update from GP who says I have ‘jumper’s knee’ and I’ve had to YouTube vmo exercises and have do them every night. That will hopefully stop me eating

Hartleyhare1206 · 23/10/2021 10:51

@Mum5net sorry to hear about the knee - that sounds sore! Love how you’ve turned a negative in to a positive though and decided the exercises will be a distraction from snacking! Amazing! Xx

WI this morning. Not entirely sure how this happened, but after my midweek meltdown at my enormous post binge gain, I’ve actually shifted the binge deficit plus 0.5lb!
Now 12 st 6.1lbs (down from 12 st 6.6lbs last sat)
All I can put it down to is fluid retention - drank a lot of booze and ate crap tonnes of processed, salty foods. From Tuesday I cut out all salty/processed food and drank gallons of water. Feels like I was going for a wee every 5 mins 🤣🤣
Very relieved to have righted myself but if I’m honest it’s a bit dangerous and given me a cocky, false sense of security that I can binge loads of crap at the weekend and then be good for 5 days and recover it! Presuming that was just a fluke and it’ll all catch up with me in the coming week amd I’ll gain or STS next week (which is honestly what I deserve!)

Mum5net · 25/10/2021 10:41

@Hartleyhare1206 @BasicMadeira @roomfulloflove @PhoenixReincarnated @Keladrythesaviour
How are you all faring? We can do this if we try hard.

So I am back at 65.5kg exactly where I started on Monday Sept 13 on Day 1. Net loss - zilch.

But my knee is so sore. Varicose vein operation Friday, so i am not beating myself up. This is hilarious. Last night I went to bed with a kg of frozen Lidl petit pois between my knees and stacked pillows at the bottom of my bed to raise my feet up. My varicose veins are on fire come night time so the cool of the iced peas really soothes. Anyway woke up this morning to find the peas still between my knees but my bed a little bit damp and the whole place smelling like a soup kitchen. Peas now in food waste. Grin
Think essentially my problem however, is that while I am consuming fewer calories , I'm doing less daily exercise so they are balancing each other out. When I succeeded before I halved my food and doubled my exercise. I'm not trying to be as extreme this time round.
Hope everyone had a steady binge-free weekend, that office wear is still slackening around the middle and no birthday celebrations

Mamamia35 · 25/10/2021 10:48

Just checking in 11.5 today but have been on holiday so not too down. Would like to be 10.7 but under 11 feels good to me.

@MrsSoft you started this, where have you gone?!

Hartleyhare1206 · 25/10/2021 11:13

@Mum5net sorry you’re in pain but laughing about the peas. My dog sleeps on my bed, if that were me he would have eaten them 🤣🤣

@Mamamia35 hope you had a good holiday xxx

roomfulloflove · 25/10/2021 11:54

Ah @Mum5net I know what you mean about being back where you started- but everything you don't gain is still a win, as it could be so much worse.

I weighed in this morning and was still 11stone which I'm really pleased about- as I feel it could have crept up a bit as I was away at the weekend having hotel breakfasts etc. Tried to do good choices and mainly stuck to eggs rather than the full fry up.
And for lunch I was half way to ordering a sausage sandwich, when I saw a spinach wrap and forced myself to change to that.

The best thing is when I'm with my partner- he is really slim and eats little and healthily, so it's easy to eat in a similar way. When I'm alone I really want to binge eat.

Having only healthy food in the house really does help though.

I think for me to lose the final half stone I'll need to maintain my healthy eating and add in a lot more exercise. Bit difficult as it gets cold and rainy, but not impossible.

I hope you all have a good week- I think we're going to need each other's support more than ever now in the run up to Christmas!

Hartleyhare1206 · 25/10/2021 12:21

@roomfulloflove - wow, that’s serious will power to turn down a sausage sarnie - well done you!
With that mentality you’ll slay this and lose that 1/2 stone by Xmas no problem xx

roomfulloflove · 25/10/2021 13:52

Thanks @Hartleyhare1206!!

Yes I did have to force myself quite hard to put it down and pick up the spinach one 😂😂

BasicMadeira · 25/10/2021 14:30

@Mum5net ouch that sounds very sore. Peas are quite amusing though. I think you should be pleased that you did not gain. It's hard enough to loose weight let alone when in pain and discomfort. Hope that the procedure goes well.
I too was wondering where @MrsSoft is. Your little team would like to hear from you- good or bad hip back onboard.
It's our BH this weekend so I have been away with the in-laws who are hosts with magic wine glasses- you put them down empty and within seconds they have refilled. I will weigh In tomorrow. I am gone now and gluggling water as my skin was looking a bit blah so it needs some tlc I think. Also walking to work next week so that will help a little too.
Will check in tomorrow morning. It's 8 weeks to Christmas so even starting at this point is half a stone down which will definitely help the waistline!

BasicMadeira · 26/10/2021 08:34

Wellgood morning. So I am 183 which is another pound down. Maybe slow and steady is the way to go. I normally drop a couple of pounds in the first week and then slow and then stop (because of the over eating) this time a slow start but may it continue steadily.

Mum5net · 26/10/2021 08:57

Well done, Basic
I’m down 0.1 kg from yesterday but that’s the equivalent of a sneeze…
Mama Hare,Room, Phoenix we are starting to march …

Keladrythesaviour · 26/10/2021 10:39

@Mum5net sorry to hear about your knee! It's awful when an injury gets you out of a working routine!

I'm pretty much stuck at 11st 3lbs (8lbs total loss since starting). I briefly dropped to 11st 2lbs but an Indian takeaway at the weekend put paid to that. We ripped our kitchen out at the weekend and in finding it hard to do healthy meals in the chaos. It's my birthday in two weeks so I'd love to be at 11st by then, we will see...

PhoenixReincarnated · 26/10/2021 21:38

Evening everyone Smile

Mum5net sorry to hear your knee is sore but the peas story did make me chuckle Grin

Well done to everyone who is losing weight.

I've had a disastrous two weeks for a variety of reasons so have basically started again this week. I weighed in yesterday at 12st 5.1lb Hmm, some of which I suspect is bloat from all the crap I've eaten over the past two weeks. This week I'm just concentrating on not eating loads of crap. Unless they come to some agreement in the next couple of days bus drivers are going on strike so that'll be me walking to and from work Hmm I suppose the bright side is that at least I'll get some exercise. The not so good bit is it's an hour each way in the dark.

Mum5net · 28/10/2021 11:18

According to my Happy Scales App I have lost 1kg in the last 7 days.. If I can keep this momentum going I might just scrape my target - 60kg for my 60th birthday (Dec 28).
Knee operation is tomorrow. Hurrah. Both legs getting EVLA treatment and then Foam Sclerotherapy. (Fancy words for being lasered & injected.) In my mind's eye I think it will be like being tasered Grin. Net result is that blood should flow around my leg veins more easily. Naturally I'm hoping this will make me lighter.
Now for a big team shout out We need an end of October push.
Phoenix be sure to chart your steps before the bus strike. You will be saving money, adding exercise and getting bonus sunlight on your face. Three little victories. Keladry volunteer to lift the old kitchen into the skip and those extra carry out calories will be a thing of the past Smile and stop you wanting carry ins. All that extra cleaning of dust and sorting out new cabinets will be the equivalent of an aerobic workout every day. Basic every time you lose a lb pound put a £ pound into your fresh flower fund and in no time you can buy yourself a bunch of roses as reward. Lidl's do some for £2.99, rather than the expensive Waitrose ones Wink. And same with all that extra walking. Room turn up Rongan's podcast this week and google 'spinach' for some new ideas for the final push. Tell everyone you'r going greener to coincide with Cop26. Mama hope you are sliding down the elevens on your way to the number 10. We need someone else in number 10. Hartley hope you are still on the march and not weeing quite as much. However go to your furthest away toilet for extra steps!
We can do this.
