I have decided to try and sort myself out. I am fat, frumpy and so so fed up.

It is just over 14 weeks until Christmas, I am hoping to lose a stone by then. Surely I can manage to lose 1lb per week.

Anyone want to join me, I realise this is short notice!

@Mum5net that’s great advice 🤣🤣🤣 will run there too 🤣🤣
Hope you’re tasering goes well!!
Let’s give these last few days of October a big kick up the (soon to be skinny teeny tiny!) arse!!!!!!

BasicMadeira · 28/10/2021 18:56

Best of luck @Mum5net thank you for the incredibly thoughtful incentive!
Going to errrr smash this!

Mum5net · 29/10/2021 20:59

Apologies phoenix missed the bit about your walk both times being in the dark. You’ ll hardly get sunshine even when the clock goes back. Keep safe. I’ve had to buy my dog a flashing neck bauble to be seen.
So I had my operation. 2.5 hr procedure. More unpleasant than I imagined but I skipped lunch. Felt so rubbish that I blew 500 k cal on crisps and fruit pastilles as soon as I got home. Then felt a different kind of rubbish.

PhoenixReincarnated · 29/10/2021 22:19

Well the good news is that there's been a new offer put forward so strike is off until it's been voted on on Monday. Bad news is that I'm coming down with a cold 🙄 Everything is going well here but seeing as I'm only trying to avoid eating between meals this week it's not that difficult.

@Mum5net sorry to hear that your operation was unpleasant. Take care of yourself and don't worry too much about your food intake for the next couple of days. Maybe try to eat stuff you find nourishing rather than worry too much about calories. I find if I eat food that satisfies me then I don't tend to pick which reduces my calorie intake.

Hartleyhare1206 · 30/10/2021 08:06

@Mum5net - sorry to hear it was so uncomfortable - don’t beat yourself up about your snacks - they sound very warranted (and bloody delicious!) agree with @PhoenixReincarnated eat what you need to eat for a few days rather than what you feel you should eat.
How are you feeling today??

0.5lbs off today so now 12st 5.6lbs

Not much but considering i had 48 extremely dodgy hours that involved Thornton’s, celebrations, pork scratchings and baileys I’m over the moon with that 🤣

Mum5net · 30/10/2021 10:47

@Hartleyhare1206. @PhoenixReincarnated thank you for asking
Actually feel like a stab victim but looking positively I had no frozen peas last night and I think increasing pain meds will sort issues.
All the more determined to shift the extra pounds.
Taking all advice to have quiet time this weekend as Thursday- Sunday I have full on visit to London
Very pleased you both on the downward trail. Just see if you both can add an extra 1000 steps into your day. It’s the little incremental bits of exercise that will give extra little victories in the scales Grin

Hartleyhare1206 · 30/10/2021 19:04

This feels like @Mum5net bootcamp 🤣🤣🤣

Challenge accepted - extra 1k steps it is.

Glad you’re doing ok and planning to rest xxx

Mum5net · 30/10/2021 19:31

Haha you’re doing my steps for me as you’re younger and fitter Grin

roomfulloflove · 31/10/2021 10:13

Not weighed in yet but good advice

Just over 14 weeks until Christmas, lose a stone with me.
BasicMadeira · 31/10/2021 10:32

How are you feeling today @Mum5net ? Hopefully well on the road to recovery to enjoy your busy time in London.
Hope the extra 1000 steps are working out @roomfulloflove @Hartleyhare1206 @PhoenixReincarnated @Keladrythesaviour
I will try as well. I am aim for the 19k a day but since starting an office job I'm rubbish (when I was a sahm I would get 11k easily)
This week has been tough food wise- I was out for dinner 3 nights so if I sts that would be okay. Really need to hit the gym this week though- will pack my bag tonight for tomorrow lunch times session. Halloween this eve so the house will be full of junk but I am best not even tasting it.

Mum5net · 31/10/2021 17:08

Only did 5k steps yesterday so I was 1kg heavier when I weighed today. However, trying to think this is a seven week march and just not get riled with the daily fluctuations. Still taking max pain relief - maybe pain relief puts on the pounds!
But I do feel brighter and cheered that I will get fitter every day. Sorted out the frozen peas in the freezer. All those which have been on first aid duty gone in food waste. We do however have another 3 kg as back up Grin
@BasicMadeira 19k is a considerable daily amount but will take you over two hours to do plus casual stuff required as well. That’s a lot when you are working hard and have young people in the house. (Bows at feet.)
I’m banking on my knee exercises and some incremental TV hoola hooping helping me.
But looking forward to the weekend and being with my escaped from home family and catching up with my bestie for a bit.
November - while everyone around is growing beards and moustaches - we on this thread need a new focus. Ideas anyone? Grin

Hartleyhare1206 · 31/10/2021 19:38

I took the dog for an extra walk round the block to up my steps a bit.

I need to concentrate on drinking more water and eating more fruit this week. Challenging myself to 2.5l of fluids and 3 pieces of fruit a day (veg isn’t a problem but I forget fruit and then get tempted to snack on the wrong stuff so want to use fruit to fill that gap) also hoping by drinking when I’m hungry will stop me reaching for the snacks too.

Anyone care to join me in this for a mini week long challenge??

BasicMadeira · 31/10/2021 21:47

Happy to join in @Hartleyhare1206 I need more veg really but even 2.5l and 3 solid pieces of fruit will do me good.
Ohhh fat fingers Blushat work @Mum5net I am for 10k steps a day not 19k. It's a good day when I get 10k and a very very good day indeed when I get 19k!

Mum5net · 31/10/2021 22:00

Ha!Ha! So it’s water, veg, fruit and extra walking this week for us all.. I’m on it.

Hartleyhare1206 · 01/11/2021 07:22

@BasicMadeira make your mini challenge 3 extra veg instead of fruit if that works better for you??

Happy Monday, here we go!

Re extra steps, Planning to walk the dog later with DD as it’s an inset day and we are heading off to a park so incorporating a walk but also about to take the dog out for a quick early walk whilst DH is still here with DD so I can actually walk at a reasonable speed without having to stop and look at every leaf; and hear how she hates walking/it’s too far/her legs are tired every 4 seconds 🙄🙄 those extra steps will be mine
😄😄😄😄

BasicMadeira · 01/11/2021 08:32

Woot woot 1.8lb down this week- delighted. I had a social week and I did not go mad in terms of excess or under rating to make up for it. Just calmly doing my best.

Mum5net · 01/11/2021 19:16

Hope the walk was a dry one @Hartleyhare1206 and @BasicMadeira that's so good when you've been out and about.
I've done 12k steps today so trying to get back into movement and I've moved on to 16:8. Soup x 5 bowls, water, and satsumas.
And yes, of course, it was pea soup. Grin

Hartleyhare1206 · 01/11/2021 19:30

Bloody hell @BasicMadeira that’s amazing! Well done you!!

Laughing at pea soup @Mum5net 🤣🤣

9k steps so far but should hit 10k by bedtime.
Might have accidentally had hot choc and some cake with DD 😳😳😳

Hartleyhare1206 · 01/11/2021 19:37

Am on track for my 2.5l and managed to up my fruit a bit - shared a banana with DD, raspberries on my breakfast and a handful of grapes mid afternoon when I felt hangry 🤣🤣🤣

BasicMadeira · 02/11/2021 09:04

Ha! Pea soup!
Good walking and fruit eating everyone!
I had 2.2l of water yesterday and roasted veg for dinner and grapes, banana for fruit. Heading towards my period so starting to feel bloated and eaty (just want to keep nibbling) filling myself with hot water and coffee instead.

roomfulloflove · 02/11/2021 22:29

Sounds like you're all doing really well everyone- well done. Is the 16:8 the fasting thing @Mum5net? You will definitely be losing really well with that I'm sure.

Great challenge re the walking and 3 extra fruit or veg! It's good to have little challenges to keep us going!

My week was really mixed last week but was relieved to still be 11stone at my weigh in this morning. The big difference for me has definitely been the 12:12 fasting I'm doing- or less if I can manage. It's completely cut out night time snacking. Once I realised I actually feel more awake and energetic first thing in the morning when I haven't been stuffing my face all evening, it's really helped me stick to it.

I had a really emotionally stressful week last week- and it was on Friday evening that I marvelled at the energy I still had despite that. My ex is so awful and usually when he's ruining my life I feel so wiped out I just want to hide under the duvet for a week. But this time, I've in the main been eating really healthily, in terms of loads of veg, some protein, some brown carbs, that I was just brimming with energy, and didn't get floored in the same way I usually do, which felt great.

Mum5net · 02/11/2021 23:00

@roomfulloflove Little shards of empowerment is the way to go. You should be very proud of yourself on many levels last week, I genuinely think there’s a corner that gets turned when you realise you can get by without the extra snacks. But fingers up to the nasty ex.
Sounds exactly the right food stuff. 16:8 is just an extension of what you are doing. Basically it’s 12:12 without a breakfast. I did it in 2017 very successfully and I have been back into it for two days and i suspect I need the discipline of not eating for 16 hrs to shift this weight. I’m doing 1200noon to 8pm as eating window but have actually kept it to 7.00pm. Glad you are feeling more energy.

Hartleyhare1206 · 03/11/2021 13:58

@roomfulloflove sounds like you’re having a good week despite some trying circumstances? And brilliant that eating well has improved your well-being so much - victory on the scales is lovely but feeling good about ourselves is what we are striving for here and it sounds like you’ve nailed that. You should be so proud of yourself xx

How’s the recovery @Mum5net?

@BasicMadeira aren’t you doing well with the water/fruit and veg? With you on the period front, mine started this week and despite me trying to snack on fruit rather than pick crap like my hormones make me want to I feel bloated and crap. Slugging drinks like there’s no tomorrow but i feel porky and lardy and need my period to bugger off for that to improve I think.
Went on a huge walk with a friend this morning now DD is back at school - 5miles of hilly terrain and 13,000 steps achieved already today. Also worked out that if I can drop DD at school early enough there is a good parking spot that allows me to build in a small circular walk to drop her at school amd get back to the car again - about a 12 min walk which isn’t huge I know but doing that twice a day is a really small but positive change and a good way to up my steps and activity levels.
Also, wore my hair in a plait today for the first time since I was about 9 🤣🤣 DD wanted us to look like twins apparently so we needed matching hair 🤦‍♀️🙄 I never tie my hair back as I’m conscious of my chubby face/chins so leaving my hair down makes me feel a bit “safer” but it actually looked ok tied back!! Got a compliment from my walking buddy who said I was looking slimmer and like I’d lost weight which was a nice boost xxx

Mum5net · 03/11/2021 14:19

I’m glad to be doing this with all of you as you make ‘the doing’ less difficult.
At 59 and ten twelfths I can’t claim period weight but my horror puppy, started her season yesterday so I can say I know how you all feel Grin
@Hartleyhare1206 I’m at 11,300 so you are going to be our daily winner today not unless @roomfulloflove and @BasicMadeira have been rocking their trainers while coping with work.
I’ve got an afternoon of work and then a whole lot of sorting for tomorrow’s London trip. (With bleeding dog). Scales showed a 64 today for the first time in a while but I have a DC graduation to celebrate this weekend so I’m not counting on it staying there

Hartleyhare1206 · 03/11/2021 14:26

Well done on scales victory!! 🥳🥳🥳 not so well done about the dog - poor sausage Is she ok? Mine was convinced she was in trouble when it happened to her 🥲 love dogs. My DD knows our dog is my favourite child 🤣
Enjoy graduation celebrations - you must be a very proud mama xx
