I'm fat, 55 and totally fed up.

I would love to look and feel nice again. I hate wearing clothes that cover my fat, I want to wear clothes that I actually like.

I definitely need to shift a couple of stone and make much more of an effort with my appearance.

Anyone else feel the same? Will be starting tomorrow if you are interested in joining me.

Clanged a bit over the last two days with cake and another gifted Belgian bun (they are DH's weak spot from a particular bakery in the next village). Paid for it last night with joint and shin pain, was awake from 3.15 to 4.45. My new question needs to be "am I prepared to be awake over night and in pain if I eat this?".

Back to it today, so I've had / plans are:
🍽️ Overnight oats with stewed blackberries and cinnamon
🍽️ Big mixed salad with half a tin of chickpeas
🍽️ Roast turkey with veg and things. Poss some GF stuffing.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

I have had a bad couple of days - just feeling lethargic and not on it at all! I was so good too - I hope to get more serious again from tomorrow and keep it going, Stayed the same this week so not all bad

Better day today again. Have had a delightful NSV in that a skirt that wouldn't do up four weeks ago now will. Am delighted. Back on the codeine, though, due to deep, bone-level ache in recovering foot. I agree, @YetAnotherWalk, getting everyone back to school and some routine going will help. @Sjanish33 hope you can keep rolling forwards.

Hello all. Sorry I've been awol. Wedding at the weekend and needless to say I indulged...then carried on as it was bank holiday... And carried on as it was my wedding anniversary today... And now I feel disgusting Sad Got on the scales and have gained a(nother) couple of pounds. Back in the office tomorrow for the first time since May and I've no idea what I'm going to wear as nothing fits.

Need someone to give me a massive kick up the bum, wire my mouth shut, and stick me on a treadmill...

Happy anniversary yesterday @LondonGrimmer! No use looking back, what's done is done. Hope you enjoyed your weekend and today in the office is bearable.

DH has been buying treats, which I have been eating, and I feel like a whale too. Did too much yesterday and am back in bad with a sore leg wondering how best to approach the rest of the week.

Thanks guys, you're right, what's done is done. We enjoyed our anniversary and the wedding. I've had a much better day today, mainly helped by only taking what I needed into work and not having constant access to the kitchen.

@yetanotherWalk I'm always shattered too. I take iron, vit d and b12 but it doesn't help. I also get insomnia at times. Do you know why you're so exhausted atm?

@IWillWashTheGreenWillow so sorry to hear you're in pain - hope you get it back under control again soon.

My food diary today:

B: Soreen lunchbox loaf at 11am
L: bagel with low fat cream cheese, cherry toms, apple and a packet of French fries crisps. Fruit tea.
Snack: reduced fat Hummous and a handful of tortillas
Dinner: 2 x sausages, a bit of mash and loads of veg. Watched dh and kids tuck into Yorkshires but resisted

Kids back at school so school runs help with my steps. Did 9k today so happy with that Smile

@LondonGrimmer thyroid...finally busy reading the book I bought last July Hmm which points to candida issues and adrenal issues too so a lot to unpick but eating more healthily wold be a good start!

Oh god I'd love to give up sugar and / or dairy / wheat for a few weeks and see how I felt. Have vision of having endless energy, sleeping better, better skin etc as well as weight loss...shame I have zero willpower Grin Keep us updated if you do make any big changes.

Thanks for the welcome, have now caught up on the thread .

I'm 57, 5'3" and weighed 11st10 last time I stood on scales a couple of weeks back. Am away on holiday this week, walking a lot more than usual (good) but have been eating loads of bread, chips and drinking alcohol every day . DH has taken some pictures of me sitting in the cottage in the evening and I look so old and frumpy, my posture is awful .

So starting next week I want to keep up the level of walking and add in some strength training . I need to Make an effort with my posture and like the idea of the general overhaul suggested in the OP. I need to get my eyebrows done and some new glasses .

My eating plan will be to have oats and fruit for breakfast, soup and some protein for lunch and fish with loads of veg for tea.

Hopefully I am going on holiday abroad in 5 weeks time and I would like to look a bit better by then .

I'll join you too. I'm about 5 stone overweight and lately ive been feeling awful. 2 years ago I was quite fit and loosing weight, I used to do Zumba 3 x a week and went to the gym/swimming too. Now I'm tired all the time and can only walk for 10 mins then I have to have a rest.

I had blood test results back yesterday and my GP gave me a serious talk. I'm morbidly overweight, on the verge of diabetic and my cholesterol is v high. I need to tackle all of this now. My coping mechanism is sugary foods and wine 😭. Im joining Weight Watchers next Wednesday but starting the diet today

Hello @StormyLovesOdd, nice to see you. Sorry the GP got stern, hope that is the prod you need to turn things around.

Things have gone a little bit bendy here with 7.5hrs in A&E yesterday with a suspected bloodclot in my poorly leg. Sent home at 1.15am after a jolly jab with fragmin with the message that if it is one, it's superficial, but they'll be in touch today about scanning my leg. At that point, I'd not eaten for 12 hours so I inhaled a bowl of shreddies with stewed blackberries and have just done the same again for breakfast. So much for not eating wheat or sugar.

Ah well. I can only begin again now.

@shinynewapple21 I've had some success improving my posture with YWTL exercises, you can find them if you google. They really open up your chest and strengthen your upper back and reset your head posture so your spine works correctly. I aim for 3 sets of 10 reps a day, but even one set is good and you can feel it working.

Well blow me down, I had a peak at the scales and I can't be doing too badly as I'm now 4.5lbs/2kg down from starting a few weeks ago. Not very fast, but guessing it's better down than up. Have a good weekend all.

Thanks @YetAnotherWalk, things are better - I'm on fragmin again for a few days and resting at home with DH and the DC dancing attendance as before.

Skipped lunch and had Pizza Express Tesco pizza for dinner cos DH was in charge.

That sounds a bit scary about the blood clot in your leg . I think shreddies and blackberries was very restrained eating after that !

Thanks @YetAnotherWalk, leg very sore still but consultant says it's referred pain from walking with crutches. If only he'd answered his phone on Thursday and said that, could have saved myself and the NHS 7.5hrs! Hey ho. Well done on your weight loss!

Welcome, @yumyumpoppycat! I think I'm going to try to write a self-care list to follow, as I'm well out of the habit of things like moisturiser and perfume because it takes so long to get in and out of the shower on crutches that I need a lie down afterwards!

Def no heatwave here, but not expected til tomorrow, so I will reserve judgement til then and leave all the woolies on the back of my chair just in case

I can't decide if not eating til 1pm but then having cheese on toast with tomatoes and a coffee is good or bad. Scheduled end-of-holiday Chinese tonight.

Back to school went well thank you Smile No heat wave here just yet but it is meant to be reaching 28 on Tues/Weds apparently. BBC weather app is rubbish tho I find so we shall see.

Not much healthy / less eating or exercise here due to a cold and really sore throat (hello ice cream). But in the spirit of this thread and it not ALL being about numbers and scales and fitness, I have had a long soak in the bath, deep conditioning treatment on my hair, face pack on and a de-fuzz. Will aim to paint my nails this eve when kids in bed as it usually makes me feel better, esp during the week when I'm stressed at work... Reminds me to look after myself Smile

Pleased with myself yesterday.

Journey back from UK holiday. Stopped in bakery for lunch on way back and had a vegetable pasty but stopped myself from buying any of the lovely cakes they were selling . Had salmon with cauli rice and mixed veg for tea (from freezer) and rice cake with cheese as snack. No alcohol .

Tinned apple slices with Greek yogurt and cinnamon for breakfast and healthy supermarket shop being delivered tomorrow.

Will weigh myself shortly .
