Anyone up for a big fat body overhaul?

I'm fat, 55 and totally fed up.

I would love to look and feel nice again. I hate wearing clothes that cover my fat, I want to wear clothes that I actually like.

I definitely need to shift a couple of stone and make much more of an effort with my appearance.

Anyone else feel the same? Will be starting tomorrow if you are interested in joining me.

Hi

Things have been awful here. Covid in the house which hasn't been too bad, but the impact on finances and stress levels and the fuel crisis which was extensive here.... I'm eating till I feel sick and then eating again. FFS!

Glad to hear you two are doing well.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 07/10/2021 21:32

Oh @YetAnotherWalk that's an awful lot of things all at once. Sending 💐 and 💪

I should stress that the cords I fit into are the largest I've ever had, and mostly cut me in half like a sack of potatoes.

Cardiologist tomorrow to find out what constitutes "sensible exercise" amongst other things.

YetAnotherWalk · 08/10/2021 13:49

Hope your appointment went well @IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow (like your Halloween name BTW)

It's life isn't it? Came across a Podcast recommendation about overeating on another thread, so going to give that a go.

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 11/10/2021 09:58

Not entirely what I was hoping at the appointment - he is concerned the clots are not breaking up on their own, and I need repeat CT and ECG scans so they can decide what to do 😢.

Meanwhile, my healthy breakfast this morning was a Belgian Bun.

YetAnotherWalk · 11/10/2021 18:26

Oh no

I had home made banana chocolate loaf, followed by a hot chocolate and a pain au chocolate FFS. Hope they can fit you in quickly and that they are not causing more problems for you x

Podcast is basically a CBT aimed around food. Have listened to two so far and now need to give it a bit of a chance to sink in (they were released weekly)

Hello! Long time lurker here. Is it too late to join you all? I am coming up to my 46th birthday. I feel fat, frumpy, and old. I want to make some big changes now, on all fronts. I'm not sure how much I have to lose, probably about 4 stone, but I will weigh myself tomorrow, and then I will be able to set the first goal. I suspect this will be a long slow journey, but at least if I move forward I will be making progress.

Here the areas I want to work on, one step at a time...

  • weight
  • fitness
  • strength
  • stress
  • style (I am going to have to find help here, I am hopeless at fashion, make-up etc)

Not much to do is there??!

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 17/10/2021 13:50

Hello @AuntieN! You are welcome to join us and I will recommit to overhauling at the same time. I finally got a haircut last Thursday and I hate it - it's so short on the top I look permanently surprised - but it will grow.

YetAnotherWalk · 21/10/2021 19:56

Hi, just thought I'd check in. I'm eating and eating and eating (day 54 of my cycle) yes, I've tested

I really need to give myself a slap.
Like the to do list @AuntieN welcome.

How is the leg/clots @IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow?

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 21/10/2021 20:30

Much improved thanks, @YetAnotherWalk. My echo cardiogram last week showed normal heart size / function and pulmonary pressure, and I can walk an entire mile without having to stop for a rest (at a slowish pace. No running for the train). Sorry your cycle is all over the place.

On Monday I decided to get my sorry arse into gear again, and have been making healthy choices for food since then. For me, that means no wheat / corn / yeast, no alcohol and stopping refined sugar as far as possible. I've also had a walk most days.

I didn't dare weigh on Monday (for fear the scales would shout "no coach parties!" etc) but this morning I am 92kg - horrifying, but down from my highest point.

I have also been remembering / finding time for moisturiser and a little make up and perfume and jewellery beyond the same pearl studs and wedding ring I've been wearing for over 20 years. I may be fat, but I shall be well-groomed and fat, and smell lovely!

YetAnotherWalk · 22/10/2021 19:23

Oh bless you, can only get better right? And important to care for yourself as it does help you feel better.

AuntieN · 30/10/2021 09:02

Morning All. I can only say that last week was absolutely disastrous. Multiple major problems at work and home meant my food and exercise plans went completely out of the window. I am heavier now than when I started. Time for a different plan to see if I can have a fallback position when everything goes to S@!t.

As long as I don't give up I will eventually make progress...

AuntieN · 30/10/2021 09:04

@IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow - I liked your point about make-up and jewelry, that's a nice easy win which might help... thanks for the idea!

IWillWoooTheGhoulWillow · 30/10/2021 12:49

Well, I have now done Pilates twice in 3 days and I feel at least an inch taller. I hurt in places I'd forgot I'd got, but that will improve as strength improves, right? 😬

YetAnotherWalk · 30/10/2021 15:56

Uhm, I did some yoga this week and was similar Grin

Sorry to hear that @AuntieN I always do hair and make up and try and look presentable... for myself and because I don't want my kids to be embarrassed of/by me.

I've managed a few fast days, but on the eating window it's been dismal. Period has showed finally 61 day cycle in the end Confused cold symptoms coming and going and coming and going -the joy of children in the house and working with them too!

AuntieN · 07/11/2021 14:41

Another terrible week on the food front. Work is overwhelming me. On the plus side, I did manage to walk 10000 steps each day, so I will take that for the win.

How is everyone else doing?

YetAnotherWalk · 12/11/2021 19:05

Hi @AuntieN hope this week has been better.

I've been quietly getting on with a walk or yoga or both, taking my multi vit and mostly sticking to a 8 hour eating window.

How are you @IWillWashTheGreenWillow?
