Anyone up for a big fat body overhaul?

I'm fat, 55 and totally fed up.

I would love to look and feel nice again. I hate wearing clothes that cover my fat, I want to wear clothes that I actually like.

I definitely need to shift a couple of stone and make much more of an effort with my appearance.

Anyone else feel the same? Will be starting tomorrow if you are interested in joining me.

@Seil

Sorry to mention Christmas in July, but it is 21 weeks away. Just 1lb per week will lose 1.5 stone by then. I reckon that's doable 😁
Put like that, it sounds good! I’m in.

51.5 years old and always been a bit chubby/stocky but in the last two years my BMI has been floating just under the obese level. I am now menopausal and really need to make sure it doesn’t go creep over - but I’d like it to come down to a sensible figure. 21lbs should do it!

Boboparadise · 01/08/2021 09:28

Count me in also

ByTheSea · 01/08/2021 09:37

Me, 57 with recent ill health, a demanding WFH FT job and at least a couple of stone to lose.

LondonGrimmer · 01/08/2021 09:39

Can I join please? Think I've found my tribe Smile Had a big birthday in the spring, then a week later lost my beloved Dad. Was doing really well losing a few pounds before that (have gained a stone in a year due to Covid which I need to lose, plus some as a buffer... So 21lbs for Xmas sounds ideal). I also eat and drink my feelings.

I too have soooo many lovely clothes that I can't get into and it gets me so down. Hate my body. Am always tired and it's a vicious circle hey?

What I did in April that helped was downloading a free app called Fastic to teach me intermittent fasting. I started off doing 14:10 but after a couple of weeks was doing more 15:9 and 16:8. I'm a terrible snacker and this helps loads.

Walking is the only exercise I enjoy, and it does my MH the world of good, but I've just been too busy and tired. Have now stocked up on iron, Vit D and Vit C tablets, and yesterday got a B12 spray (am always low on these on blood tests and find supplements help).

It's all in the mind... We've got each other now... We can do this! Smile

Oh, and Sunday morning weigh ins suit me best to. They hold me accountable on Fri and Sat nights which is when my drinking tends to go through the roof.

LondonGrimmer · 01/08/2021 09:56

@Pinkie68 I've just started following LoseFatWithMatt on Insta... Do you mind saying how much the 28 day Drop a Jean Size program is? (if you know). I have weights but never really used them, and they're not adjustable.

Donteatpurplebroccoli · 01/08/2021 10:17

Hi all I’ll come along for the journey! Altho I have also joined a similar thread before with lovely people but dropped off! Desperate to make it stick this time! It’s my birthday on Wednesday so waiting a week 🙈 as away camping at the moment! Will weigh in a week tomorrow - may not share real numbers I have a lot to loose!! Have made lots of changes over last few months that I need to consolidate now and I want to loose as much as I can by next years birthday which will be my 45th! I do not want the spend the second half of my forties gaining still more weight and feeling frumpy and fat! We can do this!!!

Pinkie68 · 01/08/2021 10:48

@LondonGrimmer. …no idea how much it is as I didn’t do that….,best to message him. 🙂

mumsy2015 · 01/08/2021 10:52

Ok i'm officially 42 and 12st 3lbs at 5ft 6in. Like the OP i need a complete overhaul, not just weight loss. I'm out for lunch today which i intend to enjoy but will just have a main (no starter or dessert) and one glass of wine instead of sharing a bottle. I'm hoping just making better choices each day and being more conscious of what i'm putting in my body will give me a steady but sustainable loss. Donteatpurplebroccoli hope you enjoy the camping. We're off for a weeks camping on Saturday- looking like it'll be wet 😬 I'll weigh in Saturday before we go so i don't miss a week. Good luck everyone- let's do this!!!

MrsMouse03 · 01/08/2021 10:57

Hello, can I join too please? I'm 51 and about 2 stone to lose plus sort out drinking too much wine and eating crap.

It's been stressful at home so I've not looked after myself and it shows! ☹️

TheWashingMachine · 01/08/2021 10:58

18kg to lose yes I'm in, I'm terrible with chocolate and so scarcely any exercise and walking doesn't count.

66babe · 01/08/2021 12:02

I feel I've made a massive achievement today by actually wearing a proper bra
I've lived in nil or just them crappy crop top things that seem to flatten them neatly toward the belly - comfy as they are they do nothing for the norks
So today I navigated Tesco and Aldi with neat eyebrows a spritz of impulse and my norks where they used to be
Home now glad to get it off

lizziesnips · 01/08/2021 12:27

Good luck everyone
I'm planning to try Intermittent fasting and to try to stick to low carb food as much as possible.
Also will up my exercise and cycle, garden and restart pilates again.
Mainly to get my body moving again.
I am 59, with a very demanding job, so need to try to get my fitness back.

Geppili · 01/08/2021 12:38

I would love to join too. I'm the fattest I have ever been and the loneliest!

MintyCedric · 01/08/2021 12:44

So today I navigated Tesco and Aldi with neat eyebrows a spritz of impulse and my norks where they used to be

Brilliant Grin...I've mostly kept up with the bra wearing but spent the majority of last year in harem pants.

I'm going back to work at the beginning of September after nearly a year's sabbatical and need to shift some timber pronto to look half decent in my office clothes again.

I didn't drink last night...can't remember the last time I didn't have alcohol on a Saturday evening. Proper roast and pud today as mum's coming for dinner but eating v.light otherwise and have meal planned for the rest of the week. DD is nearly 17 and has been on a health/weight loss kick since the beginning of the year so am lucky she'll be on board with lots of salad!

Weighed in at 17st 13lb this morning...ugh! Only going to weight once a month.

66babe · 01/08/2021 13:03

Same @Geppili even in my years of being pregnant

Zonefiver · 01/08/2021 13:28

Weighed in at 10st 2lbs and have a stone and a half to shift. I’m cutting out treats (chocolate, crisps) as WFH during Lockdown they have become regular snacks. We eat fairly healthy meals so I need to do more than just cut out junk to tackle my spare tyre(s)..and like others, I also need to get back into clothes for work. Decided I need to exercise and not put it off. Didn’t fancy jogging or anything involving dance so I’ve booked a body pump class at my local leisure centreGrin. The journey begins!
Good luck this week everybody.

Shallwegoforawalk · 01/08/2021 13:28

@seil your starting weight is a bit less than my goal weight Grin

Ginandtonic4all · 01/08/2021 16:24

So victory for today: I did not have a train snack!!!!

Any advice for strengthening nails. Mine are all chewed and knackered and am not looking forward to getting them out in the office!

lannistunut · 01/08/2021 16:28

Went for a two hour walk first thing, and then another shorter walk later, am pleased with that. I am focusing on exercise as my whole life has changed so much since wfh started and I want to get back to how I was before.

Donteatpurplebroccoli · 01/08/2021 16:41

@mumsy2015 it’s great thanks we’ve been lucky!! Expected lots of rain but only had significant rain on one day which was still fun so hopefully you’ll be as lucky! Smile I’m feeling more positive already about making the changes I know I need to going forward after reading people’s posts thanks for starting op!

LondonGrimmer · 01/08/2021 18:02

I do kgs since getting smart scales/using MFP so am 78kg and my initial goal weight is 73kg, so around 11lbs loss.

Love how we're not just focusing on numbers tho, as sounds like we all know that it takes more than a number on a scale to make us feel good.

Re nails @Ginandtonic4all do you take supplements? I'm finding iron and vit D ones have helped make my nails strong (tho admittedly I don't chew them). I always find painting them means I look after them a bit better Smile

FelicityBeedle · 01/08/2021 19:00

@Ginandtonic4all
I find keeping mine beautifully painted let’s them grow out nicely and stops me damaging them (I can’t paint my nails beautifully but I like to pretend)

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 01/08/2021 19:18

I'll join! I'm 50 in October and struggling with menopause, stressful full time job, teenagers etc. I'm on HRT but many of my symptoms have now come back if not quite as bad .I've actually been on a health kick for 3 weeks and have lost half a stone. I'd like to lose another stone and get back in the healthy range by my birthday.
SW 12 stone
CW- 11 stone 7
GW - 10 stone 7
My blood pressure is too high and I have two weeks before I have to go back to get it checked. I don't want to join my father and my grandfather in that tradition. Getting my 10 000 steps a day and feeling optimistic- need to do this for my health

FelicityBeedle · 01/08/2021 19:44

So today I’ve eaten
Properly portioned bowl of shredders
5 crisps
Tiny bit of toblerone
Tin of soup with added sweet corn and two slices of bread.

So not healthy but not awful in terms of calorific intake

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 01/08/2021 19:46

I think I'd better join. I'm 47, 5' 4.5" and have a BMI of 32. It just sort of crept up on me over the last ten years when the wheels gradually came off my life from all angles. Today I weigh more than DH, who is 5.5" taller than me, and I'm scheduled foot surgery on the 13th which will hopefully mean I can get back to moving again. In the meantime, though, I can't outrun a bad diet and I very much eat my feelings. DS2 moved out today, and while I am so proud of the independent, capable young man we have brought up, I am so sad my boy is not living here any more. So I am drinking wine and eating (GF) pizza and starting tomorrow.
