I've reached peak fatness and need to sort myself out

Tryx · 06/06/2021 07:57

Starting from today I am going to attempt to sort out my fatness.

I have had enough of not fitting into my clothes and feeling embarrassed about how I look. I find it exhausting being overweight.

Ideally I need to lose a good two stone but would be really happy to start with one stone.

Anyone like to join me?

chillibeansauce · 06/06/2021 09:14

May I join, I'm fat and stiff and stressed and need to slim down, loosen up and regulate my stress levels better!

chillibeansauce · 06/06/2021 09:14

2 stone loss is my goal as well. I'm 5"3, nearly 44 and massive

inigomontoyahwillcox · 06/06/2021 09:19

Can I join? I want to loose 3-4 stone, piled it on after lockdown #2. Coincided with me starting a VERY stressful job and working incredibly long hours (at a desk).

The kick up the arse I got was a blood test which showed a couple of borderline liver function enzymes, I've had a bit of a fatty liver for a while (showed up on a previous scan) but never had anything wrong with blood tests before. Have been no alcohol and low calorie for about 3 weeks now, plus have ramped up the exercise. I think I'm loosing weight, but need to invest in some scales.

It's tough as I've got some other health issues which make me feel rough (chronic headaches, very low ferritin (awaiting another iron infusion), adenomyosis and interstitial cystitis ... plus some problems with my ears/balance) which have resulted in my sometimes struggling to do exercise - but I'm trying to push through on the assumption that when I loose weight it will help reduce the symptoms. Plus the blood test results have been coming down since I started (they've checked them a couple of times more).

@Tryx

Anyone interested in a weekly weigh in. Seeing as it's Sunday today I may as well go with that. Makes a change from my usual Monday morning failed starts.
I think you have just read my mind! Sat here pondering joining thinking hmm yes I'll start tomorrow... so instead will start now! 322.2lbs today. Eventual target 154. Have a good week everyone!
scaredsadandstuck · 06/06/2021 09:32

@TheTurn0fTheScrew

I've been weighing myself each morning (frowned upon, I know, but it helps remind me what I'm supposed to be doing!) so happy to log in Sunday's. 12st 7 for me.
Interestingly in the Noom programme they recommend weighing daily for a few reasons - to keep you on track, to 'desensitise' you to weighing in so it's not a big scary thing or a big event, and so you can see that your weight naturally fluctuates day to day - I guess the point there being you could weigh once a week and on your weigh day you might look to have gained or stayed the same, but a couple of days earlier or later and it would be different. I actually really liked this approach (until o stopped doing it Blush)
tumpymummy · 06/06/2021 09:42

Joining in too please. Currently 5ft5 and weigh 11st3. Whilst that may not seem as heavy as some for me this is the heaviest I have ever been and I hate my stomach. Definite menopausal tummy. I'm trying the Fast 800. I'm not logging all calories but following recipes from book. The main thing for me is cutting out snacking - that's hard. And I really wanted a drink while I prepared dinner last night. I had to settle with fizzy water instead.

Houseofvelour · 06/06/2021 09:45

Same. Last year I lost 30 pounds and I've put 29 pounds back on again 🤦‍♀️ I hate the way I look and I'm actually embarrassed to be seen like this.
I'm 5'8 and a size 16 but my clothes are starting to get a bit tight.
Currently 192lbs and my end goal is 145lbs.

I feel like to succeed, I need a solid plan that fits around my kids, where I don't feel like I'm starving myself.
I've looked at the Joe Wicks plan and it's not for me. I've always been good with calorie counting but I tend to take it too far.
I just feel a bit stuck 🙈

inigomontoyahwillcox · 06/06/2021 09:51

Happy to weigh in - just ordered some scales.

ChippyDucks150 · 06/06/2021 09:56

I'm in! Need to lose a stone. Planning on starting in the morning, food shop and meal prep today. I'm afraid of going on my scales, but will look them out this morning.

Onynx · 06/06/2021 09:56

I bit the bullet this wk and went to a nutritionist. I'm the largest I've been ever- including pregnancy. 13st 6 & I'm 5'4. She looked at what I eat and how I eat and among the recommendations were to eat more veg etc at mealtimes include protein in every meal, have some fermented foods or sauerkraut and kombucha for gut health, no skipping lunch - which I am hugely guilty of and then I end up snacking and picking for the afternoon. I'm to try to leave a 14 hour window between last meal and first meal. Also she said if the meals were properly balanced and filling each meal should take you to the next without cravings. I found it really interesting - it's not a diet as such but I'm going to give it a try....

YorkshireLawyer · 06/06/2021 09:56

@scaredsadandstuck I agree about daily weighing (I have also seen that on Noom and another fitness account I follow on IG). My weight can fluctuate quite a bit day to day depending on what I’ve eaten/what time/when I last went to the loo/TOTM etc. I find daily weighing (when I do it!) best as you can hopefully see a downward trend over time. For me, if I weighed weekly and the number on the scales had gone up from the previous week, when a day or two ago it might have been 2 or even 3 lb lower, that would really de-motivate me. I prefer to see what my lowest weight in any given week is and then track that over time as that should tell me if I’m actually losing.

Belliphat · 06/06/2021 10:01

Weigh in done - 11.13 - target 10 stone

gmailconfusion2 · 06/06/2021 10:05

I'll join. I have three stone I should lose, two I need to. I tried to buy a sports bra yesterday, have hit a 32JJ and size 16, I can't go on like this. I'm going back to work in three weeks so will have some routine again, but none of my work clothes fit.

ElfDragon · 06/06/2021 10:07

Ok, I’m 12st 3, which is the heaviest I’ve ever been, including pregnancies! I’m aiming for 10st, so just over 2st to lose.

I’m banning eating in the car (I spend a lot of time driving, so snacks tend to creep in, and even if they’re healthy-ish ones, they’re just not needdd), snacking in the evenings, and aiming for more exercise each day - even if I ‘just’ hit 10,000 steps a day that’ll be an improvement on current levels.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/06/2021 10:08

Weigh in done. 16st.

Positive thinking from this point forward.

Fifipop185 · 06/06/2021 10:15

@chillibeansauce Snap! You've described just how I feel, stiff and stressed. I can't keep up with my DS who is always on the go.

@Tryx no more wotsit fingernails for me Wink

Weigh in done - 12st 1/4lb. Heaviest I've ever been. Let's do this. I've got some special k and strawberries being prepped by DH as we speak. He is also going to try and slim down. He has survived on junk for the last year and is pre-diabetic. This is the kick we both need.

Fifipop185 · 06/06/2021 10:18

DH stopped smoking last week too and is worried about more weight gain, I'm hoping if I'm trying to make better food choices he may follow. Has anyone tried to stop smoking and diet at the same time? Is it possible?

sunshinepunch · 06/06/2021 10:28

Does anyone have some really tasty (like proper tasty!) low salt/fat plant based recipies? Struggling for dinner & lunch recipies.

jannyapple · 06/06/2021 10:31

I'm the same .. my daughter just hit the nail on the end .. she said mum when you lose a bit of weight you look so much younger .. it's true
I'm 54 and need to lose 2-3 stone but I find 10lbs can make a massive difference either way ..

TheBobJog · 06/06/2021 10:43

Another Peaky Fatster here Blush

Got a good 2st to shed. My downfall is all the cheese and wine. I'm cutting that back, and upping the exercise. Starting tomorrow!

Marcipex · 06/06/2021 10:44

Same here @ShroomShroom :(
I mean, I haven’t weighed myself but that’s a guess.

I can’t exercise (foot condition) barely leave the house. On shed loads of meds that cause weight gain.
Can’t eat much fruit/veg/whole grain as it goes right through me and then I don’t absorb the meds (sorry tmi)
DH is v active and buys loads of crap food. I crave salt and am stuck indoors 24/7

I’m screwed aren’t I

scaredsadandstuck · 06/06/2021 10:56

I will weigh tomorrow morning and update then. Just about to do a meal plan for the week too. I have fussy eaters (including DH to some extent who always want really fancy meals and looks down on bog standard stuff 🙄🙄) so really hard to find things everyone likes that are healthy.

FrontRowSeat · 06/06/2021 11:01

Stone to lose here too. It’s work that buggers things up for me. Does anyone have any practical healthy work lunches that don’t take loads of prep time? I can never be bothered to make a salad in the mornings. Good luck everyone.

Mackers17 · 06/06/2021 11:03

Can I join too please!
5ft 2, so bit of a shortie and about 4 stone to lose to even be within touching distance of a healthy bmi. I completed couch to 5k last year in lockdown but didn't really lose anything as I just used it as an excuse to eat more, then joined ww in September and managed to lose 1st 7lbs before I fell off both the ww and running wagons at Christmas. Since then, Ive put 7lbs back on and have restarted dieting every Monday without fail since. My general trend is to diet all week and lose a few pounds then crash out again at the weekend and put it all back on. I'm still paying for bloody ww so I'm going to give it another go and hopefully accountability here will help keep me on track!

Sw: 14st 9lbs
GW: 10st 4lbs (the weight I've felt happiest at in the past!)

Stanleysaysyes · 06/06/2021 11:06

@sunshinepunch

Does anyone have some really tasty (like proper tasty!) low salt/fat plant based recipies? Struggling for dinner & lunch recipies.
This chick pea casserole is one of my standard suppers:

Sweat four or so onions in olive oil
Add four or so chopped carrots
A few small chopped potatoes
Maybe some celery chopped
Cook over a low heat for about 10 mins and as you do that, add cumin, coriander, salt, pepper, maybe some chilli flakes, to your individual taste.
Add some chopped garlic.
Crumble in a vegetable stock cube.
Boil a kettle and add some hot water.
Add two tins of chopped tomatoes and one or two tins of rinsed chick peas.
Simmer for a good while until carrots and potatoes cooked and sauce reduced.
Serve on it's own with chopped parsley or coriander, or as an accompaniment to lamb or fish.
