Standing in for @cricketmum84 and taking over hosting from @NerrSnerr for this month.

Good luck everyone. I'm feeling positive about May.

April's loss was a measly 2lb Grin

No worries. My mum has hypothyroidism too, hashimotos. The meds haven't helped her to lose weight but she is feeling better.

Love that you have found salsa as a way to exercise. It's always good to find something you enjoy, then it doesn't feel like such a chore.

I've spent the weekend feeling sorry for myself. I'm not very well. I got up yesterday morning and just cried! Blush The tranexamic acid appears to finally be helping a little but I'm so run down and tired now. I haven't eaten well, I haven't been able to exercise and I don't feel good about it but I will get back to my normal routine. I just needed a bit of time out, to rest. I am not weighing myself this week. I don't want the pounds I must have put on to add to how rotten I feel. Sorry for the moan, its taken its toll this week Sad

Hope you've all had a better weekend than me Smile

So happy! Down to 13.12 this morning so that's 10lbs for the month! My blood sugars have really settled down and my carb intake is as low as I can get it so I think my body is finally getting used to everything.

Had a lovely lunch out yesterday with my team from my old job, like a little leaving for. It was so strange seeing people! I haven't seen them since last March so they were a bit shocked at how much I have lost since I last saw them. It was the first time I've been out in the wheelchair without my husband so I was a bit nervous but wine helped 😉 I had a lovely ploughmans lunch with hand carved carvery meat but gave the beautiful looking fresh bread roll away.

Out for lunch again today with DH and DC. I've checked the menu already and think I'm going to go for a rump steak salad.

@Howmanysleepsnow don't get disheartened by a temporary gain, we always say that restaurant food is higher in salt than what we cook at home so that always causes a bit of water gain. I'm sure it will be gone in a couple of days.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

cricketmum84 · 23/05/2021 10:16

Sending a gentle hug @GetTheStartyParted Thanks

HolaVida · 24/05/2021 07:41

Oh sorry to hear you're feeling miserable @GetTheStartyParted :( :(

I've lost half a pound over the weekend, which feels miraculous. Would love love love to get under 12st by the end of May - let's see how this week goes.

Thanks everyone. Back on it and feeling much better today. About to go for my first run in a while, but I'm going to take it easy after feeling so unwell.

Staying away from the scales still.

I have the week off work so uni work and relaxing are taking up all my time Grin meeting my sister for lunch tomorrow, can't wait. We did work together but she is pregnant and had to shield die to extra health issues so hardly seen her recently.

@cricketmum84 I can't believe how much weight is dropping off you! I hope you're doing ok, I know you've had a difficult few months.

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 25/05/2021 08:31

Ah glad to hear you are feeling better @GetTheStartyParted. Hope you have a lovely time with your sister!

Yea it is dropping fast this month but I'm ok and eating properly. I think it's just the mix of being very low carb and the blood sugars back to normal. They were almost 20 a few months ago and now I'm averaging at 7.5 so that's got to be helping!

Foxhasbigsocks · 25/05/2021 09:06

Wow @cricketmum84 your loss is amazing! I was here in Jan 2020 so know how epic an achievement that has been!

I’ve been hovering in the 75.5 zone and not done badly with walking but have managed to overdo it and hurt my foot - will need to rest it a bit I think

GetTheStartyParted · 25/05/2021 10:02

Thanks @cricketmum84 Really glad you're doing well Smile Your blood sugar levels will definitely be helping but it sounds like you're putting the work in too.

@Foxhasbigsocks fingers crossed the resting soon gets you back onto your feet - pun intended Wink

I only managed a 3k run, but its better than nothing.

Howmanysleepsnow · 25/05/2021 12:04

I’m 1lb down today so 10st (again). This is so frustrating!

HolaVida · 26/05/2021 07:55

I’d love to be 10st @Howmanysleepsnow!! Still a lb loss, even if you’ve lost it before 🤣

I’m down another 1.5lb - really pleased 🎉

Total lost for May so far: 6lbs

GetTheStartyParted · 27/05/2021 08:01

@Howmanysleepsnow At least it's going in the right direction Smile

Well done @HolaVida

I braved the scales this morning and I'm at my lowest weight. I've lost 2.5lb in May, which is great for me. My weightloss is slow and steady these days and I pretty much ate whatever I wanted for the last few days of being ill. I'm feeling so much better today. Going for a run in a minute, I will make 5km today!

Hope you're all enjoying this sunny morning.

Oh and I only need to lose 1 stone to have a healthy BMI now Grin

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 27/05/2021 08:25

@GetTheStartyParted that's exciting!!

I've just checked the chart and in exactly 1 stones time I will be just plain old overweight instead of obese 😂

My starting weight doesn't even appear on the chart 😳

GetTheStartyParted · 27/05/2021 08:46

Becoming overweight is such a milestone @cricketmum84 . You'll be there in no time.

I didn't make 5k, just 3k again. I'm so drained, getting dizzy and out of breath more than usual. Guess I'm not fully recovered BUT I have cause to celebrate - after approx 51 days I'm not on my period anymore Woohoo!

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 27/05/2021 08:53

Thanks @GetTheStartyParted

Just a thought but have they checked your iron levels with your period going on for so long? That would explain being breathless and dizzy. May be worth upping your intake of iron rich foods and see if that helps!

GetTheStartyParted · 27/05/2021 09:35

They checked them about a month ago, they were on the lower side of normal but ok. I take an iron supplement but definitely need to increase the iron rich food I eat. Thank you for the suggestion Smile

Foresttheout · 27/05/2021 10:04

Hi all,
Glad to see you're doing so well @cricketmum84 and are finally starting to feel better with your blood sugars under control.
Hope the doctors can sort you out soon @GetTheStartyParted
After months of feels awful and telling myself I was just down due to lockdown and the stress of this whole pandemic thing I finally visited a doctor last week. Turns out I wasn't just stressed but have pernicious anemia along with Zinc and iodine deficiencies. The doctor has told me I will start to feel like a new woman in the next couple of weeks with the treatments so hoping that new women comes with the motivation to get back on the weight loss and running train Blush

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/05/2021 10:56

@GetTheStartyParted sounds like i feel with being anaemic. Did they check your iron stores? Mine were non existent.

Any recommendations of iron supplements that don't cause constipation?

I've stayed the same thus far, official weigh in tomorrow, I'll be happy with a maintain, but ecstatic with even half lb off!

GetTheStartyParted · 27/05/2021 11:38

@Foresttheout that will make all the difference to you won't it, I bet you have been feeling run down.

@ImFree2doasiwant They did check my iron level, but at that point I hadn't had this 51 day long period so it may be different now.

I use Spatone at the moment as my friend recommended it, but I didn't suffer constipation when on the normal iron tablets from the docs so I'm not sure.

Good luck with your weigh in!

OP posts:
ImFree2doasiwant · 27/05/2021 12:01

@GetTheStartyParted I had like haemoglobin (anaemia) but also no ferritin levels (iron stores) after my extrememely heavy periods. Also was diagnosed hypothyroidism which is linked to heavy periods. Worth getting checked!

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/05/2021 12:01

low

GetTheStartyParted · 29/05/2021 08:40

Thanks. I think they checked my thyroid levels as my mum has hypothyroidism. She also had a hysterectomy when she was in her early 30s and my younger sister has just had one. It's definitely hereditary.

It's almost the end of the month! I hope you're all happy enough with your progress.

I won't have lost much again but I'll keep moving forward. I knew it would be more challenging once I got closer to a healthy weight.

OP posts:
GetTheStartyParted · 29/05/2021 10:56

I ran 5k! 🎉

Slower than usual but I made it!

DD has just turned up with a rocky road cheesecake pot and caramel cookie for me and DS to share. I'm kidding myself that I've earned it Grin

It was my first month so I am so impressed with myself but also aware it will probably be harder next month.

Well done @plixy that's amazing.

I'm ending on a 2lb loss for May but I lost 2lb the day the start day of May weigh in so in reality I've lost 4lb in the last month. After 6 months of stalling and all my hormonal issues(!) I'm happy with it.
