Standing in for @cricketmum84 and taking over hosting from @NerrSnerr for this month.

Good luck everyone. I'm feeling positive about May.

April's loss was a measly 2lb Grin

Well done @NerrSnerr on the HIIT and weight loss, great start to May.

And you too @Howmanysleepsnow Smile it's so difficult when you're feeling ravenous, clearly your body knew what it needed.

Welcome @ImFree2doasiwant Well done for last month and good luck for this month.

I have just finished work and I am about to start writing my next assignment. Another blustery, rainy day here. Might jump on the treadmill later if I have time.

Hi can I join in here too please? I've got 4 stone to lose to put me at the very top of the healthy range for bmi. Crazy how easy that went on Blush

GetTheStartyParted · 04/05/2021 11:13

Hi, yes, welcome @GinoBabino It is far too easy to gain weight isn't it, and much more difficult to lose!

I needed to lose 5st9lbs to get in the healthy BMI range when I first started, I'm now 1st2 away. Ive gone from 39.9 to 27.9. You can do this Smile

OP posts:
GinoBabino · 04/05/2021 11:29

Wow that's incredible! Have you got any tips?!

I wanted to try slimming world but funds are depleted atm and dh turns his nose up at the random combinations so have set up a my fitness pal account and plan to cut the crap and calorie count instead.

GetTheStartyParted · 04/05/2021 11:40

Thank you. I followed a keto diet originally but now I'm using MFP to calorie count. I think that consistency is the most important thing, no matter what method you chose. Acknowledge that its going to take a while and have faith that it will work, rather than giving up when it gets tough.

My losses are few and far between now but I'm working on my fitness (I've started running) and trying to build good longterm eating habits. I'm determined to keep the weight off. I know I will reach my goal one day.

Jumping back on the bandwagon having fallen off of it on April and put on 5lbs .... easily done unfortunately 🤣. I have been overweight all my life so I have to accept I am going to slip and just need to draw a line under it!
Currently at 13st 4.25 ( was 13st 7.25 at beginning of month) and would love to get down to 12st 12 for June as then I would be overweight rather than obese....
Here’s hoping..

NerrSnerr · 04/05/2021 18:46

@TheStirrer that's exactly what I did in April! Completely fell off but I'm back on it now.

Had a bit of a stressful day today but have stuck to it and have just had a swim. I'm going to have to get a handle on feeling stressed when my children have had a bad day as I have spent the afternoon worrying as my 6 year old had a row with a school friend and had a bit of a cry after school. If I can't cope with this how will I cope when the shit gets real in her teens and twenties! She's happy now as she's in sports class and she loves all sports and activities- I think it's a de-stress for her!

Howmanysleepsnow · 05/05/2021 05:40

@TheStirrer I’m exactly the same... get close to goal, figure a couple of cheats won’t hurt and slip back. Well done for getting back to it so soon.
@NerrSnerr it’s normally a bad idea to listen to my body: it lies constantly about needing chocolate and cakes!

cricketmum84 · 05/05/2021 08:10

Morning all :) I'm starting the month at 14.8. Would love to be 14 exactly by the end of the month.

My captain Tom 100 challenge is going well, 10 out of 100 laps so far with my walking frame. Legs are sore this morning though. I'm also really excited to have already raised £145 for my local cat rescue! They have some huge vet bills at the moment and that coupled with not being able to do fundraising days during the pandemic has left them in such an awful position.

I won't post my fundraising link here but if anyone did want to support me PM me and I'll send you it. Every penny counts as they say!

Tried a new recipe last night for pizza using butterflied and flattened chicken breast as the base so pretty much carb free except for the tomatoes. It was delicious!

New job is nice and busy which is reducing time for snacking 😂

Hope all are doing well on this lovely sunny morning!

GetTheStartyParted · 05/05/2021 11:03

Hi @TheStirrer welcome back. Good luck for getting to overweight, such a milestone.

@cricketmum84 well done on the laps, you sound determined. Glad the new job is going ok Smile

@Howmanysleepsnow it's far too easy isn't it. I'm trying to fight the urge to relax this week, just because I finally got into the 10s Hmm the self-sabotage is real.

Well I cut my run short this morning, just wasn't feeling great but 2k is better than nothing I guess. Just having a cuppa before finishing off my assignment. Only about a month to go before I've completed the 2nd year of my degree, so ready for the summer break Grin

WhatTheySaid · 05/05/2021 16:24

Hi can I join you all?
I started on monday again
I'm always stopping and starting so never really give myself chance to lose or even gain but I'm really determined this time as I need to lose weight and generally be fitter and healthier for a future job so I have more motivation this time and 3kg seems like a manageable goal to aim for!
CW: 72kg
TW: 62kg

sazzy5 · 05/05/2021 17:42

SW 12.2
CW 11.5
GW 10.5
I do loads of exercise but think that means I can eat too many crisps and sweets. I feel horrible and am going through the menopause so think that isn’t helping me much. I am hoping to hit the 10stone something goal at the end of the month, I am always very slow to lose weight. Good luck all

GinoBabino · 05/05/2021 18:05

Urgh I'm at the I'm emotional, due on and want to eat everything stage..as if it's not hard enough to start off..

I made a huge savoury rice dish for lunch and dinner but the amount of times I opened the fridge looking for something sweet is laughable

GetTheStartyParted · 05/05/2021 18:58

Hi and welcome @WhatTheySaid and @sazzy5

@GinoBabino I totally sympathise. I am having so many issues at the moment. I've been on my period for 29 days Sad Awaiting some test results and hoping something helps soon. My DH says that once they sort it, the weight will drop off Grin I hope he's right!

OP posts:
GrandPrismatic · 06/05/2021 05:29

So exciting news for me today is that, by bmi, I am no longer overweight! My target was 74.8kg to get me out of overweight range and I hit it when I stood on the scales this morning (was actually 74.1! Yesterday was a good food day and ran 6k). Problem with daily weighing however is that I know I will go over it again tomorrow as I am meeting friends for outdoor drinks in the pub tonight so I will see the repercussions of that tomorrow...but I do know that by the end of the next fortnight. I should be able to consistently weigh in below 74.8kg if I keep an eye on direction.
Next target 70k to get me comfortably into normal bmi territory and try and get my body fat percentage down to 30% as that is still showing as high.
I’m so relieved...I’ve been overweight and touching on obese since my second child was born...she’s 4 now and never been able to shift it. I’m definitely motivated now to lose some more and give myself a “buffer”.

GinoBabino · 06/05/2021 07:35

@GrandPrismatic wooo well done!

@GetTheStartyParted that's so rubbish I hope it's sorted soon for you

I've got a whole morning to myself and I'm torn between a bike ride or a extra long walk as I can't normally with dd (man I miss her buggy!)

GetTheStartyParted · 06/05/2021 12:31

Brilliant @GrandPrismatic - enjoy your drinks you've earned them!

@GinoBabino what did you decide to do? Hope you enjoyed it.

I finished work, finished my assignment and then went for my first ever run outside! I was not prepared for how different it is to running on a treadmill. I do not know how to pace properly Grin

I was so relieved to not be heckled by people. I'm very self conscious. I'm going for a well deserved soak in the bath now.

OP posts:
GinoBabino · 06/05/2021 22:18

I did naff all in the end Grin by the time I got back from dropping her off, washed up had a shower and tidied up a bit I started a film instead! ( though I didn't get to finish it)

Checkingout811 · 06/05/2021 22:29

Hi all,

Please can I join? I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, was really lazy in lockdown! Don’t want to make excuses, I have a big birthday in August and we’ve a holiday booked for the end of July so hoping to be at target for then.
MFP started again today and I’ve joined the gym. Been twice this week. Fitbit is charging. Ready to get back to myself!
Currently 10 13
Target 9 stone 7

GetTheStartyParted · 07/05/2021 07:15

@GinoBabino Grin Well, I hope you enjoyed your shower in peace and bit of film that you did see.

@Checkingout811 welcome and good luck in reaching your target weight in time for your holiday and birthday. That's great motivation.

I've only lost half a pound this week, but that's ok, I lost 2 last week so wasn't expecting much this week. At least it's going in the right direction.

Foresttheout · 07/05/2021 07:24

Hi all, glad to see all these losses. Life has been complete chaos these last few weeks so i didn't even think about weight loss. Have been keeping up the exercise though so managed to loose 1kg total in April and weighed as 71.2kg despite a LOT of stress eating. Maybe this is the month I'll finally see the number 70 Blush

GetTheStartyParted · 07/05/2021 07:32

Morning @Foresttheout Nice to see you here. Welcome for your April loss. I'm sure you will see 70 (and get into the 60s!) this month.

OP posts:
twobambinos · 07/05/2021 08:30

@Foresttheout another one here that is sure you can see 70 this month.

Weighed in this morning 10st 10. I'm happy with that. I'm trying to get back into running too used to do a bit but it all went by the wayside. I do get a walk in most days which is good but I don't get a good sweat with walking.

@GetTheStartyParted well done on your outside run.

@GrandPrismatic well done on the bmi its a great feeling isnt it.

Keep up the good work everyone

GetTheStartyParted · 07/05/2021 08:59

Thanks @twobambinos I'm feeling it today Grin you definitely use different muscles compared to the treadmill. Luckily I have the day off work, I only plan on walking the dog and having a cuppa with my DSis if the weather holds.

Enjoy getting back into running.

18/100 laps done and I'm also down by 1lb so far this month! Blood sugars seem relatively stable although I've just had my second covid jab so hoping I don't crave comfort food tomorrow and undo the hard work!

Happy happy Friday!
