@TheRealHousewife has given me the honour of starting our new thread so here we go....

I can't work out how to copy her helpful links over but if you go
to thread you can look them up and also read the thread and get a feel for if this is the place for you.

We are a friendly bunch with lots of support, advice, hand holding and no judgement at all.

I am doing Intermittent Fasting and run several times a week. Others are calorie counting and walking lots. All our welcome. Post as little or as much as you want. I didn't post my weight for months and was still fully welcomed and involved.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo is our star pupil with spreadsheets but we have all done really well and I am proud of each and everyone of you.

Here's to a good month and let's get going.

Boo! Ive fell off the wagon and cannot keep to my calories this week. I can blame the poor weather and the end of term, i suppose.

Hooe wvey ody os doing ok 🙂

Crazzzycat · 27/05/2021 00:37

That calculator is interesting @BrioLover. I never know what to put down as my activity level though. I do cardio almost every day, so in theory that makes me a “vigorous exerciser”, but it’s only a 30 minute session. I don’t think that’s particularly vigorous. I do a lot of walking on top of that, but I’m really not sure that pushes me into the “vigorous” category either 🤔

But anyway, if I’m working on the basis that I’m doing a moderate amount of exercise, I could eat 1850 calories according to that calculator and still loose weight. If I’m indeed a vigorous exerciser it’s closer to 2100. I’m a little sceptical that I could loose weight on that (or even eat that much in a day!)

I’m ignoring the protein, because I’m veggie and there is no way I could eat the 150g of protein a day that I need according to that calculator. That’s a lot of beans! 😄 Are you finding that the protein target works for you?

@tostaky hang on in there! We all have days, or even weeks like that. Just treat tomorrow (or whatever day works for you) as a new beginning

MiddlesexGirl · 27/05/2021 00:42

I was on one of the earlier incarnations of this thread.
Still going in the right direction albeit very slowly now. I'm very nearly at my second and final target weight (anything with an 8st at the front of it and BMI under 20).
Achieved through a combo of running and weights, calorie counting, intermittent fasting, portion control and cutting out snacks. I think that about covers it.
Have done it in two swathes ... one about 3 years ago from 12st6 to 10st4 and then the last 9 months or so from 10st10 to currently 9st2.

SunshineCake · 27/05/2021 08:03

Thanks @BrioLover. I was surprised when the receptionist said SunshineCat could have her jabs today if she was better but we've cancelled the appointment now as we had one whole day without coughing. I would feel happier if she had another dose of meds today but I am not sure if yesterday was her last and if one more than prescribed would be bad.

Glad snack advice is working. Ironically I've missed mine mostly this week but if I have been hungry after dinner I have had half a snack. Progress as no longer hating myself for being hungry and eating.

It is okay @tostaky. Have an extra walk if it will make you feel better but we all have times when we just need to eat. Just make sure you enjoy what you have.

Well done @MiddlesexGirl. Similar to me, but I'm slower 🐢, in that I lost 1.5 stone October/ November 2019 after diagnosis and then I've taken a year to lose almost two more stone.

Have a good day everyone. DS2 unexpectedly finished school yesterday so it is strange not to be up and out. I am taking another rest day from running even though emotionally I really need to go but I think my body needs a second day off. I will go for a long walk with the dog though.

Morning all. I stayed the same this week despite sticking with it but where as in the past I would have gone sod it and given up I haven’t done that this time. Sunshine here which is lovely and I’m working from home today so I may sit in the conservatory and enjoy it!

Puffalicious · 27/05/2021 10:18

Morning!

I think there's something in this eating a bit more lark. I stick to 1000-1200 cals a day, but I've been off the ball the last 2 weeks, yet I've lost 2lbs this week! Not counting my chickens as my weight often takes a few weeks to catch up, but I'll take it for now!

SW 13st 12
CW 11 st 9
TW 10st 12

That'll be me at healthy BMI. I'd like to be lower, but at target I'll celebrate and take stock before any decisions.

Have a great day everyone.

tostaky · 27/05/2021 11:53

Lucky you @Puffalicious - ive almost gain 1kg back after 4-5 days of eating like i didnt care (and drinking moderately).

@SunshineCake - have a rest, if your body is asking for some. A walk with the dog is already more than what most people are doing (incl me!)

@Ionacat Enjoy the sunshine today! I might do the same as i might be able to have a spare hour to myself tbis afternoon as one of my meeting has been cancelled!

Puffalicious · 27/05/2021 13:33

Thanks tostaky I wasn't going mad, just a bit over my usual, so think the theory others have put forward about possibly not eating enough might be right?

SunshineCake · 27/05/2021 14:43

@Ionacat I had 2-3 weeks where I didn't lose anything and then lost about 1.5 lb so hang in there. It will come.

Well done @Puffalicious! What did I say....? Grin.

I am hoping to get put for another walk with doggy shortly and planning to run tomorrow. I was awake for two hours in the night and it has been a stressful day after a stressful evening so I need the run. If I wake up struggling I won't go.

Hope you are okay @132orbust.

132orbust · 27/05/2021 16:02

Yep I'm ok but I had a bit of a drama with a parent and illness earlier today so have been on the phone as they are in a different country and I am somewhat powerless.
Will catch up properly soon x

swampytiggaa · 27/05/2021 16:31

Well done everyone in getting through another week!

I weighed in this morning… lost 1/2lb and an inch off my arse 😱 didn’t realise it was that big 😱

Since 15/4 I have lost just over 4lb weight 3.5 inches off my hips 1 inch off my waist and 1.5 inches off my boobs. Actually put like that it’s pretty good!

I seem to be consistently under 10st now which makes me happy. I’d like to take another half stone off 😊

Puffalicious · 27/05/2021 16:41

You did indeed Sunshinecake - the fountain of all knowledge.

Big bank Holiday up here- we get Fri/Mon off- and it's DH's birthday. Weather is glorious and due to stay good, so hoping I don't go too mad with nice, outdoor food. Plenty salad methinks! Also meeting my friends for first time all together in 18 months for food out- we have a 2 hour slot, so I hope not to do too much damage in 2 hours! Focus!

SunshineCake · 27/05/2021 16:51

Sorry to hear that @132orbust. Make sure you take some time for yourself.

Brilliant news @swampytiggaa. Well done. Seeing the tape measure show me a decrease when the scales said no no no was a big help.

Oh goodness @Puffalicious. It was a fluke! I know nothing really. Can just write a good tune Grin. Enjoy your weekend. Indulge where it is worth it as you won't undo all your good work in one meal!

That was my rationale too. I had a preliminary target of getting to comfortably within BMI range so 22-23ish. That took me to about 10st4. Then with lockdown things started to creep up again so I went for it again and as I was achieving it and not feeling awful/denying life's little pleasures etc (aka taking up running) I decided to set a new target and keep going. Really I'm just working on the last bit of mum tum now. It's stubborn but I'm determined to beat it!
MiddlesexGirl · 27/05/2021 17:00

And I definitely celebrated reaching the target Wine

Puffalicious · 27/05/2021 17:01

Absolutely, Sunshinecake, for me that's goat's cheese bruschetta, not pudding!

CocoaMojo · 27/05/2021 20:17

@tostaky I've lost the plot a bit this week too. I'm still planning meals within calorie allowance but little bits of chocolate and biscuits keep sneaking in.... I blame work. And also me buying a bag of M and S cookies earlier in the week Blush weighing tomorrow and will be happy if I haven't put anything on. My 2lbs 'gain' post weekend has sorted itself so I suppose that's something.
I'm going away for the BH weekend to my dads. I haven't seen him in nearly a year as they live 3 hours away and our plans kept getting scrapped because of covid. I know there will be lots of good food and G and Ts and to be honest I want to enjoy myself as it's been so long since I've seen that side of the family. I think I will not track what I'm eating as such but try to make sensible choices where possible and accept I will have to try a bit harder next week. Tbh as my heads not really been in it this week it might be good to have a short break? I don't know. I have a tendency to quit weight loss when it gets hard or I'm seeing gains so need to change that mindset.

SunshineCake · 27/05/2021 22:21

A weekend is nothing. Whatever gain, if any, will be gone in weeks if not days whereas the memory of a lovely time with family with great food will stay with you for a long time. Go for it.

First weigh in for me - lost 2.4.lb 🥳
Very pleased with that.
8 odd lbs to go!!

joysmoy66 · 28/05/2021 07:43

End of month weigh in for me (as don't want to after weekend BlushGrin) 10 st 1.8 lb. didn't reach goal but still lost a little bit and have had several meals out and a bit to much chocolate and cake!

Ionacat · 28/05/2021 09:05

Happy Friday everyone! Here’s to a long weekend. (I caved last night and got fish and chips for everyone as just couldn’t be bothered to cook but that’s the first take away all month.)
We’re off camping and there’s always temptations but hoping not to go mad and all the extra walking tends to help.

Fab news on all the weight losses - any loss is good!!

Lost a bit more so 3lbs to go now to my 'goal' - or interim one anyway.
Long weekends are a time I kick back so I'll be decent during daylight waking hours today and enjoy the rest. A few other balls in the air at the moment but I am back.

Puffalicious · 28/05/2021 10:30

My weigh in was only yesterday so will be my last one in May. Ending the month.on a 4lb loss, which I'm delighted with since I'm a 🐢. Onwards to the June thread.

Elle200 · 28/05/2021 10:55

Hi, well done to everyone losing or staying static. I agree that sometimes a boost in calorie intake makes a positive difference, something to look forward to when we plateau!

I had to weigh in early this month as we're going away for a few days and I am not taking my scales.

SW 134
CW 85.5
GW 75

I'm only down 1.5kg this month, but actually feel thinner, in fact i feel quite good!

Look forward to reading everyone's results and joining the June thread later on.

SunshineCake · 28/05/2021 12:50

Congrats @FearlessFairy. What a brilliant start. Well done. Keep going.

Still good @joysmoy66. You've lost, enjoyed some treats and haven't given up.

Enjoy your weekend @Ionacat and I hope the fish and chips were delicious. All that fresh air and walking will soon have any increase gone.

Great to have you back @132orbust and with a brilliant weight loss and plan.

Hurray @Puffalicious! 4lb is great ! We have to keep in the 🐢 gang though Grin.

@Elle200 that is great! Well done.

@TheRealHousewife are you good to start the June thread next week?

Has anyone seen @HalfShrunkMoreToGo? I'm worried about her as well as missing her.

I went running this morning. Was aiming for 12km but my foot and knee started hurting and I thought the sensible thing to do would be to head for home. When I got there dh had kept with our dog so I ran to them and added together I did 9.73k. So annoyed as my knee had settled and I felt I could have done the 12k.
