@TheRealHousewife has given me the honour of starting our new thread so here we go....

I can't work out how to copy her helpful links over but if you go
to thread you can look them up and also read the thread and get a feel for if this is the place for you.

We are a friendly bunch with lots of support, advice, hand holding and no judgement at all.

I am doing Intermittent Fasting and run several times a week. Others are calorie counting and walking lots. All our welcome. Post as little or as much as you want. I didn't post my weight for months and was still fully welcomed and involved.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo is our star pupil with spreadsheets but we have all done really well and I am proud of each and everyone of you.

Here's to a good month and let's get going.

Thanks sunshine 😊feeling positive for the coming month. Hope you've had a good day Smile

Terrysmyorange · 01/05/2021 17:40

Thank you for the warm welcome
@SunshineCake I'm doing a combination of strength, HIIT training (Jo Wicks on YouTube) and indoor cycling. I'm going to follow a plan otherwise I start very enthusiastically, get injured and give up ConfusedSmile

SunshineCake · 01/05/2021 21:39

It's not been great @joysmoy66 but that's the price you pay for parenthood. Hard when your child is hurting and one can't do anything to make it not do so.

That sounds very sensible @Terrysmyorange!

I know that feeling unfortunately sunshine ☹️Thanks

Hello, i would like to join.
I started CC about a month ago and lost about 4kg
Starting May at 89kg and aiming for 85kg at the end of it.
The last 3 days i have been over my (1200cals) allowance (totm, work fatigue, friends dinner).
Im feeling better and more motivated now so i will be starting fresh tomorrow!
My issue is what to cook for my 3 boys that i can also eat... so tricky..

Reachforthestars00 · 02/05/2021 08:28

Hello, can I join you? I'm 11st 8lb, and would like to lose the 8 by the end of May. I don't follow a specific diet, just trying to cut down on cakes and chocolate, and exercise more. I don't look overweight, but I'm about a stone more than I'd like to be. I'm also in my mid 40s, and weight seems to cling to me now.

SunshineCake · 02/05/2021 11:48

Welcome @tostaky. I don't know what you all eat but if there are changes to be made for the children too then now is the time to start. I find children will eat better when they are involved in the preparation and would be curious about what you are eating on the days when you have to have different meals. When mine were smaller I would always let them try new fruit and veg if they asked in the supermarket. Also, be clever. Mine saw me preparing peppers and said he didn't like them. They were for a pasta sauce so I just blended them with a bit of milk and cheese and he had four helpings.... no clue it was peppers. Grin

Welcome to you too @Reachforthestars00. Sounds like you have a good plan there. Good luck.

Hi all, checking into the shiny, May thread. Thanks to the wonderful Sunshinecake for hosting. Waves to TheRealHousewife, hope you're doing okay.

So many newbies- fabulous! Welcome one and all.

I've been here 6 months and have found it indispensable to keep me motivated. I'm 1lb away from a 2 stone loss. Keep trampolining up and down but ill get there.

Starting the month at 11st 13lb and would love a 3-4lb loss this month. Strange times are afoot with TOTM- was a whole week late after PMT for 2 weeks abd now it's here it's super light- so not sure how these peri hormones will reflect on the scales. It's a case of suck it and see!

Had a nibbly day yest that I put down to totm and recovering from covid jag. On it like a bonnet today. Onwards and upwards.

SunshineCake · 02/05/2021 14:20

This is your month, @Puffalicious. You will make that two stone loss. I definitely won't but I'm hoping to make it to the next stone level down.

Puffalicious · 02/05/2021 19:48

We'll get there Sunshine: two tortoises who will get to the end of the race!

SunshineCake · 02/05/2021 19:55

Definitely 🐢🐢

I was thinking about taking a few days off running then I walked the dog along the way I run, ran down the slope and realised I had missed my run and have to run tomorrow Grin.

SunshineCake · 03/05/2021 12:21

Hi everyone. Hope you are having a good bank holiday. I've been for a run, walked the dog, put the washer on and done the ironing. Not planning not planning on doing much more though I will walk the dog later. Having picnic leftovers for lunch and other than it will involve salad, I have no idea what is for dinner. Maybe a prawn and scallop meal I got yesterday.

Puffalicious · 03/05/2021 12:54

🐢🐢Grin.

Pouring here and DH and 2 x DS insulating the loft room all day. I'm on sofa snuggling with DS3 who's had seizures this weekend - we're used to it- but I don't mind a non active day atall!

Had a bagel for first time in months- it was nice but not amazing. I like the debunking of food that I crave!

Crazzzycat · 03/05/2021 13:43

It’s interesting how food preferences change @Puffalicious. I did my online shop yesterday and laughed at the suggestions the website gave for things I may have forgotten to buy (based on previous purchases). Somehow things like crisps and biscuits have lost their appeal and even chocolate doesn’t taste as amazing as it once did!

This morning, I had to wear my raincoat, which I usually hate doing as it’s so snug and makes me look like an overstuffed sausage. I was surprised to find that it now does up easily and there’s even some room to spare. Result!

SunshineCake · 03/05/2021 13:44

I hear you! It has happened with crisps for me Shock

Hope your ds is okay.

I'm shattered so we are watching tv for a bit.

Terrysmyorange · 03/05/2021 13:52

What a miserable day here. So far I have stuck to plan, no snacking and turned down a takeaway tonight Shock

Ionacat · 03/05/2021 13:59

It’s not raining here yet. We went out for a walk this morning and I’m aiming to go for a run this afternoon. My youngest wants to make biscuits but I convinced her to make ones I’m not so keen on in an attempt to avoid temptation. I’m usually pretty good but then succumb to binges in the afternoons rather than get a piece of fruit or just get dinner early. Must come and post on here instead to distract me!

tostaky · 03/05/2021 16:10

Super windy here in London and i just want to stay on the sofa!!! Went for a walk this am but you gest twisted his ankles 20mins after we set off... Confused so that was quite a short one...

Usually mondays i try to aim for 800cals to make up for the weekend. I have already gone over this by 20 calories. I will make a "clean the fridge" soup for tonight cause thats filling and i can put butter/cream/cheese for the kids after i have served myself.
Hubbie is making a cheesecake (why oh why!!!) i will have to be strong!
Good luck everyone x

Puffalicious · 03/05/2021 16:43

Crazzycat Sunshinecake it is completely weird. DH was actually raving about new biscuits I'd bought (McVitie's VIP- basically choc digestives with toffee in middle), i mean proper " God, these are amazing! Wow!" so I had a small bite of his and wasn't even just underwhelmed, it was horrible. V strange.

Don't see me not liking proper chocolate or crisps, though Grin.

Son is getting there Sunshine thanks. He's pretty severely epileptic and when his cycle decides his body defies the meds we just need to buckle down and weather the storm. He's on the mend i think. I hope your 2 are grand- i know you were very frustrated in the week.

Technology amazes me: as I've been on the sofa I've managed to help my friend's son with his English (English teacher you see) in California! Different country, totally different system, but poetry's all the same!

SunshineCake · 03/05/2021 17:10

Well done @Terrysmyorange. I'm also a bit Shock as not feeling like any dinner yet. I'm planning on something very light when I eventually feel hungry. A salad sandwich or soup and home made coconut flat bread.

Great news on the coat fitting nicely, @Crazzzycat. I think I am veering towards getting my clothes sorted as my favourite fleece is now annoyingly too big.

I would find afternoons tricky, too @Ionacat so would allow myself a 3pm snack. Hope your run went well.

Best have a meal of crisps soon, @Puffalicious in case you go off them like I have!

I'm still stressing a bit. Awaiting a difficult phone call with school re DC2. DC1 has finished with their first relationship and I'm really sad as they were so good together and I liked them. DC back with uni mates now.

I had a really good run this morning. I ran the same distance in March and have knocked three minutes of the time. I am planning on going every day this week to try and I kick start some decent weight loss.

Been on Keto diet about 6ish weeks. Very hard at start, down to quite hard now.
Unsure on goal weight tbh. Am a tall man but will stop when I start looking too lanky, if I ever get that far with it!

Ionacat · 03/05/2021 18:54

Hope the phonecall isn’t too stressful @SunshineCake

My run was lovely - windy but kept me cool so I didn’t come back looking like a lobster which is my usual post-run look.
