Aiming for 2 stone in 2 months...

I posted in aibu and got some amazing advice.

I’ve just found out that I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS but I have to lose 2 stone to bring my weight into the acceptable BMI range. We’re struggling with secondary infertility and thought we were going to have to sell our souls to fund it.

I started last week just moving more, tracking calories and cutting out the crap (and basically damage limitation whilst I was off work- I even went to the pub and had a salad and Diet Coke!!! Shock)

Today I’m starting the fast 800 (my book arrived yesterday) and I’m hoping I can lose 2 stone in 8 weeks. I know it’s going to be hard and is going to take some serious dedication but I’ve never had motivation quite like this before. I’m also doing couch25k (and am repeating week 4 as I found it so hard!) Blush

Please feel free to join me, any support will be most gratefully received.

TickTock40, well done and great news, a super boost to help you continue now your goal is in reach. Stick with it. My weight is coming off at tortoise pace, still at least it’s the right direction.

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/05/2021 09:59

Thats fantastic news @Ticktock40! Well done on the loss. Even if they do weigh you, I hope they will realise that you've made a huge effort these past few weeks.

Badgerstmary · 22/05/2021 15:56

@Ticktock40 that’s fantastic.
I’ve now done 4 weeks & have lost another 3lb so 14 1/2lb lighter. Can’t imagine losing nearly a stone in the next 4/5 weeks, but 7 lb would be wonderful.

reallyrathertired · 22/05/2021 17:47

I really want to join this thread, I've been following since the beginning and am so impressed by all your successes but it feels like two steps forward two steps back for me. I need to lose about 3 stone for my appointment in mid-July and it's just not possible is it? It's my second baby and I didn't lose the weight from the first one due to PND, which I'm not sure I've ever shaken really.

I can do about 1200 calories a day, maybe 1100, but not any lower or IF/16:8 due to blood sugar issues. I'm going to follow along in the background anyway and try my best!

Belindabelle · 22/05/2021 21:00

@reallyrathertired you are one of us. Just jump right on in. Two steps forward two steps back is me right down to a tee.

@Ticktock40 I am so thrilled for you. Fingers crossed you get everything your heart desires and it all goes well.

The new scales arrived minus batteries. Got batteries and as expected new scales weigh heavier than old scales so I am sitting around a
10lb loss. Just going to keep going.

YellowMonday · 23/05/2021 02:04

Well done @Ticktock40! Even if you're not at target on the 2nd, you can clearly demonstrate you have lost weight and are looking to meet it at the time of your first cycle.

Thanks to my period, the scales didn't change on Friday, exactly the same as last week. I'm starting to realise I need to work on being ok with keeping the same weight weekly as I'm getting smaller. I can't expect to lose every single week, which I have up to now (excluding when weigh in aligns to my period).

I'm incredibly competitive, so seeing the scales go down has been a big motivator so far, but I think I need to find other motivating factors for the weeks I have a plateau, to make sure I don't revert back to previous disordered eating.

YellowMonday · 23/05/2021 02:07

@Belindabelle, it's the worst when that happens with scales!

I did the same with moving to do my first weigh in on tiles vs wooden floors. About an 8lb difference - sadly higher.

YellowMonday · 23/05/2021 02:12

@reallyrathertired, it sounds trite but starting really is the hardest past of weight loss.

I've found it's all about discovering what works for you. For me, CICO does not work as my boy does not treat all calories are equal. I read a lot on IF and the mediterranean diet, and created my own hybrid version. I do 16/8 and eat foods which are rich in protein, lots of fish, lots of fresh vegetables/fruit, heathy fats and oils, and reduce my carbs. I don't weigh food or calculate/track calories. I have 3 meals in my window, and most of the time no snacks.

But others have found only CICO works for them by weighing everything and keeping to a specific calorie intake.

I think it's all trial and error to work out what your body needs and what you can commit to.

reallyrathertired · 23/05/2021 16:17

Thanks @YellowMonday @Belindabelle I will hop on!

I have seriously considered trying to delay my appointment until I have lost more weight but that also seems loopy... there are no guarantees are there

Ticktock40 · 26/05/2021 12:02

@reallyrathertired how are you getting on?

It really isn’t easy is it? I’m constantly hungry but the feeling of control is good. I’m doing the fast800 loosely and have started spinning classes again. You can do it! Smile

I’ve now reached 12lb over 6 weeks and I think this pace is doable for me.
I am hoping for 2 stone over 3 months - 4 months and if I get there I will be really really happy.

Now I am well into this weight loss I find it very difficult to imagine losing at a quicker pace without serious starvation or very intense exercise

reallyrathertired · 26/05/2021 16:06

I'm doing ok @Ticktock40, thanks for asking! I'm super hungry but it's probably because I'm using my calories on things that don't offer much volume 😬 or protein!

I got on my exercise bike yesterday though and have had more water the past couple of days.

I am panicking a bit because we are away at grandparents this weekend and then on a big family hol later this month. I would normally think 'well don't bother calorie counting' but honestly I am too early in this process to slide back down the hill. I think I need to stick to it while away.

ImFree2doasiwant · 26/05/2021 19:16

@YellowMonday I'm the sanecwith the scales, I need to see movement. Its funny what you say about whether all calories are equal, I was only thinking about that earlier today.

@Ticktock40 I was going to sayvtgat I'm constantly hungry too, but I'm not sure that I am . I'm nit constantly full, so it may just be that, and also, I don't need to be hungry to eat. At this stage I hoped I'd be past the bad habit stage, but the fact is I like eating. And I want to carry on eating.

I don't expect to have lost this week. And I'm hoping it's not a gain. I'll get weighed Friday, and plan the next 7 days.

reallyrathertired · 27/05/2021 19:16

Hope everyone is getting on well!

I skipped breakfast today and found myself ravenous very shortly after a quite substantial lunch, DH said I must have woken my metabolism up late which sounds bizarre but may be true I suppose! But the benefit is I can have a nicer lunch and dinner if I skip breakfast.

I'm down 1.5kg this week so that feels good.

What are everyone's tactics for socialising and staying on track?

Ticktock40 · 05/06/2021 12:13

How’s everyone doing?

We went away for a few days so the diet eased a little. Back on it now though!

Looks like we’ll be starting IVF next weekend. The protocol and everything has been issued and weirdly the clinic didn’t weigh me again when I went for my blood screening. Medication is being delivered on Tuesday ready for my next cycle to start. Can’t say I’m not petrified but I’m hoping I can remain positive too. Smile

Thats great news @Ticktock40. Weve been away for half term not eating well, so I'm still the same weight as I was a couple of weeks ago. I won't be hitting 2st in 2 months, but I'm at 17lbs so far, which I'm really happy with. I think I started 20th April, so got a couple of weeks to go.
