Aiming for 2 stone in 2 months...

I posted in aibu and got some amazing advice.

I’ve just found out that I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS but I have to lose 2 stone to bring my weight into the acceptable BMI range. We’re struggling with secondary infertility and thought we were going to have to sell our souls to fund it.

I started last week just moving more, tracking calories and cutting out the crap (and basically damage limitation whilst I was off work- I even went to the pub and had a salad and Diet Coke!!! Shock)

Today I’m starting the fast 800 (my book arrived yesterday) and I’m hoping I can lose 2 stone in 8 weeks. I know it’s going to be hard and is going to take some serious dedication but I’ve never had motivation quite like this before. I’m also doing couch25k (and am repeating week 4 as I found it so hard!) Blush

Please feel free to join me, any support will be most gratefully received.

@StudentProblems I take daily magnesium capsules to try and counteract any toilet problems. Psyllium husk is also helpful but don’t take that if you think you may be constipated. Wait till you go before taking any extra fibre like that. Greek yoghurt or kefir keep me regular too.

I suffer from constipation so if I go 2/3 days without going I take some Senna or Dulcolax to ward off any problems.

I think any change in eating habits can cause digestive problems initially but it should settle down.

StudentProblems · 26/04/2021 14:07

@Belindabelle thank you!

ODFOx · 26/04/2021 16:28

Hello! Please may I join you? I've been doing a mix of exante and low carb meals up to 800 cals per day since mid January and have lost 2st 5lb so far.
I also started walking and am currently averaging about 12k steps a day. I am supplementing fibre, a general multivitamin, calcium with added magnesium (to prevent bone loss in menopause) and selenium. Lots of water and swapped my daily 'thanks goodness the working day is over'
glass of wine for an alcohol free gin and sugar free tonic with ice and a slice which is particularly good now that the evenings are lighter.
I'm getting on OK with Exante most of the time but can certainly recommend the John West tuna lunch on the go tins. They are really nice and full of flavour as well as having all the macros in a neat approx 200calorie meal that doesn't need rehydrating or heating.

I bought a Fitbit too: I was completely unaware just how few steps I was doing until I actually measured it. It's nice to tick off my steps each day and quite motivating.

Can I join please?! Gained three stone over the last year and want to shift lots of it by the end of June. Currently have PT three times a week (massive investment but this weight has to go) and trying to eat healthily. Think I may need to cut down on the portion sizes. Been working out with PT for nearly a month now and no discernible weight loss. But I think at first I was just proud I managed to do the training and am now thinking seriously about how to tackle the food issue. It's really hard!

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/04/2021 00:00

@StudentProblems yes, same here. I mean, I'm eating considerably less, but also feel like I need to go. I take iron tablets which don't help. My usual methods of getting things moving are all foods that I'm not going to be eating, so may have to explore other remedies.

subbysammiexoxo · 27/04/2021 03:41

After a terrible ex relationship, alcohol abuse and 2 mc's I really packed it on accompanied with sitting at home during lockdown, I started losing weight just over a month ago only fully cut out the drinking 2 weeks ago and I have lost over a stone so far, I went upto 17st Im now under 16, trying to get down to about 12 stone to be honest I lost more cutting out the drinking , drinking enough ounces of water for my weight to stay fuller and switching out carb options for alternatives like cauliflower rice, courgette spaghetti, swapping out wraps for salad bowls, eat alot more protein in the day and I do about 30 mins of HIIT a day along with going for a walk in the evenings

ODFOx · 27/04/2021 10:44

Sorry you've had such a shit year Subby. Your work in the last month is really impressive though. Well done! I started at 16.5st and am now just over 14 but nothing like your quick change. Very impressed by your daily HIIT! I'm doing it three time a week and in a month have just worked up to 9 minutes. You must be super fit already.
Yesterday I had exante porridge at 1pm, exante peanut butter bar at 5pm, got home from work at 7ish to make pies for the rest of the family. By the time I sat down at 8.30 I wasn't hungry any more but knew I hadn't had enough protein or fibre yesterday so had a slice of roast pork, a big heap of wilted cavolo nero with nutmeg and half an avocado with a splash of Tabasco. A bit of an odd mix but each element was delicious, albeit not great all together!
11000 steps and a bit of a dance in the kitchen while baking, 3 litres of water/ tea/ coffee/ slimline tonic.

Slept brilliantly (rare for me) and was late for work today as I slept right through the alarm.

How's everyone else doing?

Ticktock40 · 27/04/2021 21:19

Hope you’ve all had a great day. It sounds like everyone’s doing well which is fab.

6 pound off for me in week 1. Only another 22 to go!!! Shock

I find it so much easier being in work and busy. No time to think or eat! Have been managing my 10000 steps too which is good. Feel like I’ve got lots of energy which is a bonus and the dog is pleased too! Haha

Going to weigh again on Friday. Hoping for 3 pounds this week but I’ll take any loss.

Still not heard about our appointment at the fertility clinic. Petrified but so excited to get started too now. Grin

I've had a great day today, I was at work (rather than wfh) which uscaowaysxa strugglecwith food but I smashed it today. Ate exactly what I had planned, all on track.

Weighed this morning, 1 full week in, 7.25lbs off!! Bloody amazing 1/4 of the way there. So happy with it.

The only downside, still no poop.

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/04/2021 22:36

Good grief. I'm not sure what happened to my post!

fitflopqueen · 27/04/2021 23:27

I started yesterday, so far so good but laid in bed now and just remembered the aubergine I was to have with chilli for dinner is still in the oven, it will be cremated now, had lots of rocket and spinach. Am trying to fast and do the fast800 at same time, obviously causing forgetfulness! 😳

Ticktock40 · 28/04/2021 06:36

@ImFree2doasiwant That’s amazing, well done you. A quarter of the way there sounds so good.

The quick weigh loss definitely helps with motivation for sure.

@fitflopqueen Oops! Saved calories though I suppose! Smile

You're all doing so well! Hoping to dip in and out. Was 13st 3lb a couple of weeks ago, last week was 12st 11lb and now 13st bang on!!!!

Would like to be 11st by the solstice.

Have upped the steps and swimming and reducing portion sizes. Trying to eat between 10am and 6pm and reducing carbs....finding this the difficult bit!!

ODFOx · 28/04/2021 10:49

Ticktock40 6lb is a good solid first week. By the end of this week you'll be over 1/4 of the way to your 2st goal too!
I managed to walk myself a blister across the ball of my right foot last night. I must have had a fold in my sock or something. I didn't notice it at the time but it woke me in the night Sad. I'm not going to get my 10k steps done today. Can anyone recommend another exercise that doesn't involve pressing on my foot that could use the same calories for a couple of days? Thanks in advance.

ImFree2doasiwant · 28/04/2021 18:38

TMI update. I hadn't pooped fir several days. I take iron which always causes problems abd I think my sudden change in diet has exacerbated it

I had a rummage in the medicine cabinet last night and found some boots constipation relief tablets. Took 2. Well...... I expect to be several lbs lighter tomorrow! The tablets certainly worked.

Other than several trips to the loo, I've had another good day. Another 2lbs down this morning (that was before the poops!)

Howaboutyou · 28/04/2021 21:01

Hi! Can I please join aswell!? 2 stone in two months sounds soo good & it might just be the motivation i actually need, 2 stone gone for me would put me from overweight to just getting into the healthy bmi range, my plan is to IF 16:8 , eat a small healthy lunch, small snack and a regular dinner, & just cut out choclate which is my biggest issue. & exercise on top of that if I can. Ticktock40 6lbs in the first week is amazing well done!

Belindabelle · 29/04/2021 11:58

I have had a couple of good days and been rewarded with another 2lbs off. That makes 6 off with 22 to go.

I am setting myself a mini target of 5lbs which will take me to 14stone 12. I have not been in the 14 stone bracket for years.

Last September my weight had shot up to 17stone 12 (250lbs) so reaching the 3 stone mark will be a big achievement.
This time last year I was around 16 stone 7 (put on loads in lockdown) so my current weight of 15 stone 3 doesn’t really feel that different. Hopefully getting into the 14’s will change that psychologically if not physically.

I started this at 15stone 9 and 2 stone off takes me to 13stone 9 which is BMI 29.9. That’s why this thread seemed like a good fit for me. I have mucked about since January losing and regaining the same 7lbs going between 15stone 2 and 15stone 9. Come hell or high water I am going to reach a new low of 15stone 1 and then smash that 14stone barrier.

I am really sick of all the yo yoing up and down. I just want this done as quickly as possible so I can get on with the rest of my life and not have to waste all this mental energy on my bloody weight.

Sorry for all the figures and the self indulgent rant but I just wanted to own up to my weight and set out my goals to make myself more accountable moving forward.

I hope you are all doing ok.

ImFree2doasiwant · 29/04/2021 12:36

@Belindabelle well done on the 2lbs! I've been the same up and down over the same 7lbs or do. Struggling to break under 14st. This morning, I was 13st 11!!! So pleased, it really helps keep me motivated.

Belindabelle · 29/04/2021 13:15

@ImFree2doasiwant congratulations. That makes yesterday’s toilet episode worth it.

Welcome @Howaboutyou. I am also doing 16/8 and trying to stick to the Fast800 diet. It’s not easy but it does seem to be effective.

@ODFOx blisters are the worst. I always get them and find the blister plasters are good. Mind you not had one on the sole of my foot for a while.

ImFree2doasiwant · 29/04/2021 14:00

@Belindabelle haha yes sorry about that! Its a constant problem for me.

BlueVelvetStars · 30/04/2021 16:51

Im in plateau despair ... Im dreading my weigh in tomorrow as I lost nothing last week despite doing (I think) all the right things 😔

Badgerstmary · 30/04/2021 18:34

Hi, can I join too please as I have 2 1/2 stone to lose & would like to lose at least 1 1/2 stone before a family wedding at the end of June. I started a week ago & somehow lost 6 lb in a week.

fitflopqueen · 30/04/2021 22:11

Good to see so many of us wanting to do this, I started on Monday, didn't weigh until yesterday and I have 2st 6lbs to lose to get under 10 stone.
Wednesday evening and yesterday were not good for headaches, all better today though.
I am only eating between noon and 7pm and feel ok with that, had a mid afternoon snack of hard boiled egg today which has helped this evening esp Fridays when normally would have Fish n chips and a glass of wine etc. Herbal teas are my current friend.
Good luck over the weekend everyone.

Ticktock40 · 01/05/2021 20:55

Happy Saturday to you all. Today’s been hard... I’m hungry! Hope you’re all good.

I found out yesterday that although the clinic has received my referral, the doctor hasn’t stated that I meet the eligibility criteria for ivf on the NHS (and I don’t yet because I’m too heavy!)

I’m going to wait until I’ve lost another stone then contact the GP again in the hope I’ll be further along with it all. Part of me is tempted to just scrimp and save and blow the wedding fund so we (I) don’t have to jump through hoops.

Ugh. It’s a tough old journey and it’s not even really begun yet.
