Aiming for 2 stone in 2 months...

Ticktock40 · 19/04/2021 06:56

I posted in aibu and got some amazing advice.

I’ve just found out that I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS but I have to lose 2 stone to bring my weight into the acceptable BMI range. We’re struggling with secondary infertility and thought we were going to have to sell our souls to fund it.

I started last week just moving more, tracking calories and cutting out the crap (and basically damage limitation whilst I was off work- I even went to the pub and had a salad and Diet Coke!!! Shock)

Today I’m starting the fast 800 (my book arrived yesterday) and I’m hoping I can lose 2 stone in 8 weeks. I know it’s going to be hard and is going to take some serious dedication but I’ve never had motivation quite like this before. I’m also doing couch25k (and am repeating week 4 as I found it so hard!) Blush

Please feel free to join me, any support will be most gratefully received.

@MrJollyLivesNextDoor 1200 is very doable provided you limit carbs and alcohol.

I still drink about 2 coffees and 2 teas a day

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 13/05/2021 08:47

Thanks @merrygoround88

Definitely planning to only drink one glass red wine on sat/sun, none in the week. Might even try and do without it altogether, change of mindset

ImFree2doasiwant · 13/05/2021 09:58

@MrJollyLivesNextDoor I also thought I was fat at 11st. I went to WW st 11st 3. have serious exercise envy! I just don't seem to be able to fit it in. I'm either working or have both DC with me. I dobt have space or money for exercise bike or treadmill.atm. Which is why I'm focusing on food.

I couldn't resist stepping on the cakes and was pleased with the result!

Sw - 14st 6
CW - 13st 5 3/4
TW - 11st 3
Total loss 1st 1/4lb.

merrygoround88 · 13/05/2021 10:57

@ImFree2doasiwant Great weight loss.

In terms of exercise I do mine at home and I would suggest the Joe wicks hotel room workout for beginners. You use your own body weight so no equipment required.

ImFree2doasiwant · 13/05/2021 13:58

@merrygoround88 thank you. I really struggle with exercise at home. I LOVE classes like body pump, and step, I like running and cycling, swimming. I dont like front room exercise in front of the TV. I find it so much easier to do if its enjoyable! Atm though I can't get to any classes with having the DC with me all the time.

Well another Monday and another week gone. My scales have stopped working so no idea what I weigh today which is probably a good thing. New scales should arrive tomorrow so I will weigh on Wednesday morning.

It’s now 5 weeks to the Summer Solstice so plenty of time to get a good bit of weight off. I did see that magical 14 on the scales briefly last week but as my scales have now chucked it, I don’t know if I trust that reading.

I hope everyone is doing ok. Any news @Ticktock40? Fingers crossed for you.

YellowMonday · 17/05/2021 12:12

It's doable, I think depending on your starting weight. I've lost 22 kilos (3.46 stone) in 3 months through,

  • Intermittent fasting 16 hours no eating 8 hours eating window
  • Not CICO but focus on healthy salads and vegetables with proteins and healthy fats
  • Reducing simple carbs and grains, thanks to PCOS. Bread/pasta/rice/etc once a week only
  • 3 litres of water a day
  • 4 x HIT classes, 2 x spin classes, 2 x weight sessions a week at the gym
  • NO SNACKS, realising it's ok to be hungry between meals

Good luck, what great motivation you have.

WOW 🎉

fantastic ... you are doing great 🥰

merrygoround88 · 17/05/2021 16:46

@YellowMonday That’s amazing but that Exercise commitment is likely too much for most.

fitflopqueen · 17/05/2021 18:22

YellowMonday, well done you, fab results so far.

I have had a busy weekend with family visiting so haven't really moved over the past week with regard to weight. This week will be different as will be more active - no longer working - yeah and concerted effort to stick to fast800 all week. Will be back next Monday to report in.

BlueVelvetStars · 17/05/2021 21:01

Im having to cut down carbs.. see if it shifts my plateau 😳

Badgerstmary · 17/05/2021 22:35

This 3rd week has definitely been easier as I seem to have lost the sweet cravings. Another 1 1/2lb off this week. 11 1/2lb off so far. My trousers are definitely feeling looser.

HalzTangz · 17/05/2021 22:44

I would be keen to join in, I'm looking to lose 4 stone, but 2 would be a good start. Could some one explain the fast800, I've never heard of it before

Hi there, basically you start eating at 12 noon, and finish at 8pm. When you eat, keep your carbs low, and stay under 800 calories, there are lots of webpages online talking about it. It's good if you can stick with it, and lots of advice on here too, good luck Flowers
ImFree2doasiwant · 18/05/2021 10:13

Just checking in, almost 1 month in now. Total loss 16lbs since 20th April which I'm really pleased with. I'm not convinced I'll get another 12 off to meet 2 st in 2 months but I should be well on my way.

I've got 3st in total to lose, and would love to meet that target by August. Again, I think its a but ambitious but I can only try.

How is everyone else doing? @Ticktock40 are you still with us? Hope you are ok.

@YellowMonday that's an amazing loss! Well done! I can't get out to ANY group classes ir gym sessions at all, and being totally honest, I'd rather not exercise than do it at home I am pretty active generally though so hope that helps.

Belindabelle · 18/05/2021 10:59

Really pleased to see people posting again on this thread.

Wow @ImFree2doasiwant that is a fantastic result. I am envious but only have myself to blame that my loss hasn’t been as good. I will weight in tomorrow on the new scales of doom and just keep on keeping on.

@HalzTangz welcome. 2 stone is just the start for me so jump on in and keep me company. I am going to be here a while.

Fast 800 is hardcore but the results are impressive. As stated if you can throw in a bit of Intermittent Fasting (16/8) and have 2 meals instead of 3 it is more doable. This diet was made popular by Michael Moseley, I think the programme is on BBC iPlayer. There are also a few cook books. It’s lowcarbish healthy Mediterranean food.

merrygoround88 · 18/05/2021 11:46

I am now almost 6 weeks in and have lost 11lb. I’m pretty happy with that - mainly sticking to 1200 cals max, little or no carbs, plenty of
Protein and lots of walks and 2 zoom fitness classes a week.

It’s doable now but I am not worried about when we go back to eating out, travelling etc. Hoping I get to my target weight before then so I can at least maintain.

I’ve another stone to go

ImFree2doasiwant · 18/05/2021 12:08

@Belindabelle thank you. I've had so many false starts and half arsed efforts over the past couple of years, I'm really pleased to be finally getting somewhere.

@merrygoround88 well done! Can you feel the difference? I feel so much better already, despite still being over 13st.

StudentProblems · 18/05/2021 15:31

Well done everyone! I’m so impressed with your 16lbs lost @ImFree2doasiwant
Tomorrow marks a month for me. I’ve lost 10lbs so far, which is a good start, I’m weighing tomorrow and hoping for another 1lb. I don’t think I’ll be able to get to two stone gone in another month, but I can but try! I need to loose at least 3 stone anyway, ideally 4, and I don’t think I can cut my cals any lower! I’m on 1000 cals a day, using nutracheck and Fitbit.

Ticktock40 · 18/05/2021 21:44

Hi all, well done with your amazing losses.
I managed 14 pounds in 4 weeks! Half way there. The clinic now have my referral and funding has been approved (I’m not quite sure how as I’ve not been weighed again but I’m just going with it!)
The lady I’ve been dealing with via email at the clinic said my protocol should be released in the next few days. I’m excited and petrified in equal measures.

Did my first spin class in ages tonight and lived to tell the tale! Result! Wink

@Ticktock40

that is fantastic 🎉

ImFree2doasiwant · 19/05/2021 10:37

@Ticktock40 that's great news! On both the weight loss and the funding. Well done!

YellowMonday · 19/05/2021 11:39

@merrygoround88, that’s one of the reasons I love HIT classes, I’m in and out of the gym in 40 minutes. I’ve had to make sacrifices, an hour less sleep a day and less tv, but my partner is incredibly supportive and wants to support me and pick up the slack if needed. We're normally 50/50, but he is absolutely stepping up which gives me 90 minutes each day I can commit to my health.

@HalzTangz, I’m a fan of intermittent fasting - 16 hours I don’t eat and I have an 8 hour eating window. Seems to be working well, very easy lifestyle change after the first 3 weeks. Not sure I could make the 5/2 (800 cal) work, looks intense!

@ImFree2doasiwant I started the first 6 weeks doing Kayla Itsines app (beginner). LOVED IT! I did it from the gym, but easily could be done from home. 30 minute work out but you earn a sweat and will feel it.

@Ticktock40, well done! That’s incredible news. You must be so proud of yourself. Wishing you positivity for the next steps in the IVF journey.

Ticktock40 · 22/05/2021 08:50

Happy Saturday to you all!

Quick update, had a phone call yesterday about when I want my medication delivering! (I haven’t had my protocol yet so was a bit baffled but it’s all clearly happening behind the scenes!) Have an appointment for screening bloods on wed 2nd and an appointment with my consultant on Tuesday 8th. They’re hopeful that I can start my first round on my next cycle which will be around 12th June.
I doubt I’m going to be at target by wed 2nd and am praying they don’t weigh me then.

I hope you’re al doing well. I’ve lost another 2 pounds this week so 16 pounds in total. Managed 3 spin classes this week too so hoping my losses might pick up again. Smile
