Aiming for 2 stone in 2 months...

Ticktock40 · 19/04/2021 06:56

I posted in aibu and got some amazing advice.

I’ve just found out that I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS but I have to lose 2 stone to bring my weight into the acceptable BMI range. We’re struggling with secondary infertility and thought we were going to have to sell our souls to fund it.

I started last week just moving more, tracking calories and cutting out the crap (and basically damage limitation whilst I was off work- I even went to the pub and had a salad and Diet Coke!!! Shock)

Today I’m starting the fast 800 (my book arrived yesterday) and I’m hoping I can lose 2 stone in 8 weeks. I know it’s going to be hard and is going to take some serious dedication but I’ve never had motivation quite like this before. I’m also doing couch25k (and am repeating week 4 as I found it so hard!) Blush

Please feel free to join me, any support will be most gratefully received.

Morning! I did well yesterday. Made tomato soup for lunch and fish cakes for dinner with stir fry veg. Then after the kids went to bed I had an apple and a pack of 44 cal popcorn. Then I started my 16 hour timer. So that’s it till 12.45 today.

I built the apple and popcorn into my 800
Calories so I’m fine with them. I just feel like I need something and I’d prefer to have it counted and then not want it than want something and not have the calories.

Mamimawr · 20/04/2021 10:08

I weighed myself this morning to see how bad things are - 13 stone 11. That's the highest I've ever been Blush I've put more weight on over the last year than I did in my first pregnancy.

Anyway, I'm going to do something about it and keep you company OP - you've got a very good reason to lose weight. I hope you have a good day x

Cosmos45 · 20/04/2021 10:11

I just wanted to wish you luck OP - I too have 4 stone to lose (2 would make a HUGE difference though) and currently am 20 days in and have lost about 8lbs. I am just cutting right back on food and drink rather than sticking to a "diet" as such. I will watch this thread with interest and I really hope you are successful (I will be cheering you on from the side!).

fitflopqueen · 20/04/2021 10:11

Joining you a day or so late, have just ordered the book from Amazon, need to lose about 2 stone I think. Feeling inspired by thread so far.

LotsOfTrees · 20/04/2021 10:43

Cheering you on! I started Fast 800 a week ago and have already seen results. I’d love to lose 2 stone in 2 months - will be just about time for a planned family meet up as restrictions ease! - and then have another 2 to go to be healthy.

annonymousse · 20/04/2021 10:51

I started the Cambridge diet yesterday. 2 stone in 2 months sounds like a great goal. I have been doing sw for ages and managed to maintain but not lose any weight in the first lockdown but lost the plot completely in the second have have regained all but 9lb of the weight I lost. Felt I needed something drastic to give me a kick start.

ParisNext · 20/04/2021 10:52

Yes I’ll join...new job soon with pre-Covid clothes...am in real panic. 2 stone also. Please can you link to the aibu thread so I can read the useful info too?

Belindabelle · 20/04/2021 10:54

Feeling positive this morning. Couple of pounds down and fuelled up on black coffee heading out for a few hours so at least I will be spot on with my intermittent fasting goal and will eat when I get back.

Aiming for 800 cals today, but I will keep the carbs low and that way if I overshoot like yesterday, the damage will be minimal.

Going to sit down later and work out some menu plans I think. I have some Purition shakes to use up so I will incorporate them into my plan to keep things simply for now.

Have a good day everyone.

ImFree2doasiwant · 20/04/2021 12:07

Glad I found you @Ticktock40!

I have 3 stone to lose, minimum. 3.5 would be amazing. But 2st would get me into a much more comfortable size and shape!

I have been attempting, and failing,to lose weight by eating more healthily. I've come to realise i
really need to do something drastic to get a good portion of the weight off. So, I'm starting a shake diet from today. 2shakes a day,and a healthy evening meal. I'm going to do this for 1 month and then re-evaluate.

I was 14st 6 this morning. Shock

Fere · 20/04/2021 13:27

@ImFree2doasiwant I am doing my shakes diet too.
I managed to successfully drop a stone in March using combination of different shakes.
I ma starting today - 11st 12.5lb this morning.
I know which shakes work for me and why. As long as I am also in low carb mode then it is very easy and my sugars are dropping too. But that is because I ma T2 diabetic and need to be careful. You are spot on @Belindabelle - it helps to be low on carbs in case calories are higher than we plan.

@Ticktock40 - thanks for starting this thread! Flowers

Marbsyearofhealth · 20/04/2021 20:30

Woop found you! I am in. Need to lose 4 stone ideally for the same reason as you OP but 2 by June 21st will do me nicely to start with. Good luck everyone

ImFree2doasiwant · 20/04/2021 20:49

Hows everyone's days been? I've had a great first day on my shake plan. I know its only 1 day!! But I feel so motivated, and upbeat, I'm really happy.

annonymousse · 20/04/2021 21:04

Day 2. Feeling hungry and headachy which I was told to expect. What I didn't expect though was the discomfort in my bladder. I'm drinking the 2litres of water recommended plus one cup of coffee and 1 can of Pepsi max. Hope tomorrow is better

ImFree2doasiwant · 20/04/2021 21:44

@annonymousse I've been peeing like a racehorse all day. I'm fully expecting to feel rubbish for a couple of days as my body has a "wtf" moment at the lack of crap

Mamimawr · 20/04/2021 21:50

I feel the same as @ImFree2doasiwant I know I need to lose at least 3 stones, but a stone or a stone and a half would help me move around etc. Today I've had overnight oats, an omlet and pasta with salmon and veg. Quite happy today, but I should probably go to bed before I eat something else!

Ticktock40 · 20/04/2021 22:48

Hope you’ve all had a good day. I’m spending far to much time on the loo too @annonymousse. It’s a good sign though!

Day 2 of fast800 has been another success (I’m heading to bed soon to resist the late night temptations!) I had a salad with some cheese and cured meat for lunch and tea was Shepherds pie without the mash and a tonne of kale. I’ve drank loads today too and managed 10000 steps. Didn’t go for a run though.

I’m going to make Friday my official weigh day! Already feel less bloated though which is a start at least.

Ticktock40 · 20/04/2021 22:50

@Marbsyearofhealth We can do this! Not sure there’s any better incentive.

I’ve made June my aim as that’s when we were going to start IVF if we were paying privately. I have no idea of the timeframe with the NHS but I want to be ready. Smile

Some really great advice and inspirational stories too.

Keep it up @Ticktock40 - you can do this!
I started eating lower carb in January and following a lot of menus from the Fast 800 recipe book. Also tend to eat between 10am and 6pm. I've found a small square of 80% chocolate helps me mid evening though to take away that need for something sweet. I had a couple of off days over Easter but nothing too terrible. Have lost about 14 kgs so far and it really hasn't been difficult. I'd like to lose another 6kgs and will be keeping you company over the next few weeks! Good luck everyone Smile

imabusybee · 20/04/2021 23:03

Can I join? I've 3 stone to lose in total but 2 by June would be fantastic!
What shake diets are people doing? I'm a total newbie Blush

ParisNext · 20/04/2021 23:12

Thanks so much...I really do need to get my act together-great thread!

BlueDahlia69 · 20/04/2021 23:46

Im taking a closer look at Fast800 ladies 🌸

ImFree2doasiwant · 21/04/2021 11:12

@mamimwar and @Ticktock40 I was in bed before 10 last night to prevent further snack temptation!

I have a copy of Fast 800 book if anyone is interested, I will happily post it on. Its brand new.

Marylou2 · 21/04/2021 13:21

Can I join too please? I've lost 21lbs in the last 2 months on Noom with 1200kcals. I've been pretty strict so I think 2 stone in 2 months will be unlikely for me as I'm 52 and menopausal but I'm definitely going to try. That would see me with 7lbs of my target weight.
Good luck with your IVF too OP. I had IVF 15 years ago and remember dieting to get within a normal BMI. I wasn't quite there at my appointment but they didn't even weigh me.DD is 14 now so I wish you as much success as I had.

LotsOfTrees · 21/04/2021 13:45

I had to lose weight for IVF four years ago. They didn’t weigh me at first but did just right before starting hormone injections I think so a good few appointments in. I had lost weight for the very first appointment(s) but gained some since and it was then a very close call for me in terms of meeting the criteria, though I think if you’re serious and very close they would probably work with you to give you a week or two to lose a few pounds more (I think). Don’t make my mistake of assuming they won’t weigh you after the first appointment though. DS is three now :)
