@Newnanny2021

Yes tried dieting but find it really hard to stick to. No bloody willpower! I’ve been piling on the pounds for the last couple of years. Maybe because I’m menopausal but probably because I eat too much. I don’t think i explained myself properly. I realise that the jabs suppress appetite. I would like to know if anyone has had a complete appetite loss and how long this would last for. Thanks
Oh I see

Can't help as I just had reduction to a more civilised appetite. A couple of posters who started the thread mentioned this, if you haven't seen it already.

StarbucksQueen · 14/02/2022 07:45

I'm on week 2, and didn't get that full feeling on the 0.6 dose.. the last 2 days I've upped it to 0.8. I have my jab at about 7pm, and the last 2 nights I've woken about 4am feeling quite nauseous.. so think it'll take a while to get up to the full dose. The last 2 days I have had breakfast, but certainly a more appropriate bowl of cereal, rather than the mountain I used to have before.. I don't think I'll be in a position to have no appetite at all, I think it's more about getting to the point where you're eating a more healthy diet, and losing weight along the way.

Newnanny2021 · 14/02/2022 08:21

Thank you for your responses. It’s day 4 today so hopefully appetite will start to increase slightly this week. I really want to lose the weight but I obviously need to eat 😳😳. Really enjoy reading everyone’s stories as I haven’t told anyone I’m doing this. Can’t be done with the lecturing so the pen is hidden away in the fridge which hopefully won’t be found. Thanks again.

ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 14/02/2022 14:36

Hi, hope it’s ok I join. I’ve just had my first injection. I’m very needle Phobic (even though I’m a nurse and stick needles in people all day long 🤣) so took me a while build up it doing it.

I’m 5foot 2, weight 16stone 6lbs. Piled on weight a couple of years ago, through sheer greed. I was 9stone about 7 years ago and slowly put on, lost a couple of stone then met my DP and just put so much on. Aiming for 10 stone eventually. I emotionally eat and crave a lot so hoping this helps!

ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 14/02/2022 14:38

I’m also not telling anyone (except my mum!). I’ve tried slimming world, Cambridge etc and just don’t need to pressure to be honest. DP is really fit and active, never had a weight issue etc and I just don’t think he understands so easier to just do it and not tell anyone

EmmaH2022 · 14/02/2022 14:44

ImSaxy love the username, welcome along.

Feeling the benefit today with no appetite. Not sure why every day is not like this.

ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 14/02/2022 15:00

Thank you! I’m excited. I know this isn’t a miracle jab and will require willpower and determination but I just need SOMETHING to try and break this cycle.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 14/02/2022 19:56

hey, I was hoping it would be okay if I joined? I ordered my first pen yesterday and it is being delivered in the morning. I'm super excited to get started - I have 3 stone to loose before October. I'm currently 180lbs and 5ft5 so just tipping into the obese category. I eat a relatively healthy diet and exercise often but just cannot loose weight. I think years of yo-yo dieting and some VLCD have meant my body can only loose weight (and very slowly) if I eat under 1200 calories a day and that's just really hard as a long term solution. I'm hoping the saxenda will make it easier to stick to lower calories and cut the temptation to snack, which is my biggest downfall.
Anyway, pleased to be here and really hoping this is the miracle that some reviews make it out to be.

Orangemoon77 · 14/02/2022 20:00

Hi, I’m starting tomorrow! Feeling very nervous as I’m not great with needles but also super excited! I’m looking forward to sharing and reading all our successes!

Newnanny2021 · 14/02/2022 20:04

End of day 4 for me and very little appetite. Not feeling as nauseous but it wasn’t much to complain about. I’m going to try to stay on 0.6 mg for as long as possible but it’s too early to know for sure. I’ve had a sneaky peak on the scales and lost 3lbs in 4 days but of course I know this will seriously slow down. First week of any diet I usually see good results. Lovely to be able to share my secret here. No one has yet to find my stash of Saxender in the fridge 😂😂 hope it works well for everyone.

Newnanny2021 · 14/02/2022 20:06

I was a bit worried about using the needle as I’ve never had to do this to myself before. The needle is so fine. I grabbed some belly fat and honestly never felt a thing.

ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 15/02/2022 07:18

Ok so first day not going well. Went to bed last night feeling horrendous, woke up at 5 this morning and I’ve just vomited and vomited. I’ve stopped now but feel so nauseous 😢. I’ve had to ring in sick for work, which I feel terrible for, and DP is going in work late to take DS to school because I don’t even think I could make it there and back. Just about have some peppermint tea and hope this settles my stomach!

Orangemoon77 · 15/02/2022 07:42

Sounds dreadful! Hope you feel better soon. I know a few things I read said the sickness lasts a couple of weeks and then goes (I know that’s not helpful right now).

Try the peppermint tea and if that fails try something with ginger in.

Orangemoon77 · 15/02/2022 07:42

Just done my first one, hope I’m ok today. Could not get over how little it hurt! Hardly felt it.

Newnanny2021 · 15/02/2022 08:18

That sounds awful. Hope you are okay and the symptoms don’t last too long. Day 5 for me and it sounds as if I’ve got off lightly with symptoms. Good luck everyone x

Just stumbled over this thread. I've never heard of Saxenda but it sounds interesting (apart from all the nausea. How much does it cost on average per month?

It doesn't come cheap! Each pen costs around £50, and if you follow the plan exactly and increase up to 3mg a day then a pen will last you one week. Asda are currently selling 5 pens for £230. However, if you are like me and have been considering going down the surgery route - well a gastric balloon costs over £4000 and gastric bypass is over £12,000, so a few hundred is a small price to pay to potentially save thousands
CircleofWillis · 15/02/2022 09:13

Thank you Sunshine! So do you go through your GP or directly to ASDA pharmacy?

Orangemoon77 · 15/02/2022 09:31

GP might prescribe if you meet the requirements, I didn’t ask. I went through Boots online doctor and cost £150 for 3 pens. Can’t remember what 5 cost but roughly £50 a pen. They get you to fill in a questionnaire and it’s reviewed by a doctor.

Honestly, if this happened to me I would not take it. I hope you are feeling better now.

Welcome all!

Re the pens, I think if you stay at the lowest dose they have 50 doses in them? I'm at the second dose and don't plan to go higher.

Yesterday was very good, wasn't even hungry at 5pm.

EmmaH2022 · 15/02/2022 09:48

PS I am also considering surgery

I could probably get it from my GP but they have been pretty awful in recent years - well, hell, this is a bit outing but I'll just say it - they put me through numerous investigations for literally no reason, I think I was a lab rat for something - so I don't want them to know about this.

So yes, this is much cheaper than surgery.

I am on 1.2mg. I realise at some point I have to come off it so don't plan to go higher. I have tons of experience of medication and usually take half the suggested dose of anything.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 15/02/2022 10:08

@CircleofWillis

I actually purchased one pen from simple online pharmacy as I wasn't aware that Asda was cheaper until I joined a Facebook group. I've just gone for the one to see how I get on with it as I have reacted badly to medication in the past. If all goes well then I will purchase from Asda next time. I don't think my gp would prescribe anyway, as I only have a bmi of 30.1 I don't qualify for any help other than slimming world membership on NHS. I'm obese but not obese enough Hmm
CircleofWillis · 15/02/2022 13:55

Thanks! I wasn't thinking of the financial side re GP. I just thought you needed to get the health go-ahead beforehand.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 15/02/2022 19:00

So today was day one and my order was delivered at 10am this morning whilst I was eating breakfast, so I had my first injection at about 10.45. Couldn’t believe how easy and painless it was to do as I did have a moment when I looked at the needle and thought I can’t do this. Eaten normally since (lunch and dinner) but not felt hungry at all so no in between snacks. no side effects either yet so fingers crossed they stay away. Hope everyone else has had a successful day

ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 15/02/2022 19:37

Hi everyone, finally out of bed. Feeling better and just been nibbling all day on ginger biscuits. I’ve spent so much money on them that I’ve just got to persevere 😢. On the plus side I don’t feel hungry 🤣. I’m just about have some tea, I’ve done my second injection, hoping having it the evening will work!
