Luna is that normal?

Delivery today but worried now!

LunaTheCat · 26/01/2022 09:57

I think I am having an unusual reaction. Vomiting is common though - I am hopeful will settle.
Lots people say it is like pregnancy nausea. Saxenda slows down the gut so constipation and delayed gastric emptying can occur.
I am prepared to keep going for awhile.
Good luck - I am sure you will be fine.

LunaTheCat · 27/01/2022 09:15

Emma all good last night! Did yours arrive?

EmmaH2022 · 27/01/2022 10:05

@LunaTheCat

Emma all good last night! Did yours arrive?
Glad you are okay

Arrived yesterday, I took it last night, so far, fine.

I am considering stopping saxenda because I have reached my goal weight but I have so many pens left and idk what to do. Should I just keep going? Don’t really want to throw them away because they’re so expensive

Give them to me Grin

Seriously, I don't know what the deal is with keeping weight off - though I will still be stunned if that happens in my case.

Haven't some people said they use it for maintenance?

Butterfliiiies · 30/01/2022 10:31

Haha I would give them to someone else if it were easy to

I have heard people using them for maintenance. I think with the side effects though it would be nice just to stop taking them

EmmaH2022 · 30/01/2022 10:45

Are you still having side effects?

So great that you have reached goal weight, so exciting!

Butterfliiiies · 30/01/2022 11:00

Thank you 😊😊 yeah still getting side effects (sorry if tmi lol) constipation, acid reflux and low mood. But I do feel a lot happier in my body and less worried about my health

EmmaH2022 · 30/01/2022 11:23

Sorry you have side effects still

But great to be at goal. I am hoping my stomach will shrink and I will be able to come off and stay off. Do you feel your eating capacity has reduced, so to speak?

Joking aside, if you are in or near London, I am happy to relieve you of your pens Grin

I just wanted to update some progress. I'm 3.5 weeks in and tolerating 1.8 dose. Since the 1.2 and 1.8 doses I just don't feel hunger or cravings for food, it's like a switch has been turned off and this has hugely reduced the amount of sugary and snack foods I am eating. My only side effect is constipation so I am going to focus on higher fibre low carb foods now and start to boost my protein. I've gone from BMI 29.1 to 28.4 so it is definately working. My weight was stationary for the first two weeks and I was thinking it wasn't working for me, but then I lost weight in the last week and a half.

EmmaH2022 · 01/02/2022 14:40

Thanks for the update

I will be a week tomorrow so will weigh then. I definitely notice a reduction in appetite but I know from experience that eating a lot less takes a long time to show on the scales, so thank you for updating as it's good to know you didn't see a loss initially.

On a practical level, it's so nice to know I can eat lunch at 1 and not be hungry till dinner time.

Queenoftheashes · 01/02/2022 17:00

I am having no side effects but no sodding weight loss either. And I’m bloody starving!

How long have you been on it?
Queenoftheashes · 01/02/2022 18:29

Almost three months 😭

EmmaH2022 · 01/02/2022 18:31

@Queenoftheashes

Almost three months 😭
Oh I won't stick to it if it doesn't change anything in that time

And you're hungry so I assume you're dieting?

Queenoftheashes · 01/02/2022 19:10

Trying to… it worked great at first. I can’t eat as much. But today I’m just ravenous.

I'm confused

You were saying you haven't lost weight at all? In three months?

Now you're saying it worked great at first? So confused.

Queenoftheashes · 01/02/2022 20:46

Nooo I have lost weight - I meant am having no weight loss at the moment. As in throughout January. Feels like I’ve just gotten used to it and got appetite back (although didn’t regain over Christmas).
I did lose around 12 pounds the first six weeks. So it does work. Just not convinced the effects last long enough.

Ah, thanks.

Getting rather impatient... Boots approved me for Saxenda 8 days ago and I'm still waiting for my text to say it's ready for collection. Anyone know if this length of wait is normal?

Helene2019 · 02/02/2022 09:01

@Queenoftheashes I think building tolerance to it is what happens i.e. the dose feels less effective over time. Have you tried taking a break for 1 month and then restarting (from 0.6mg)?

I'm hoping to use the time while it is suppressing hunger to move to a sugar free low carb and then hopefully keto diet.

Queenoftheashes · 02/02/2022 09:24

@Helene2019 no there’s no point at the mo for me as I’m about to TTC. but I think next time I will try and go up to 3 slower as I found personally my losses seem to come from side effects rather than the magic hormonal changes.

EmmaH2022 · 02/02/2022 09:56

Weighed myself after a week

It's 1.5lb down which sounds like nothing but it has been painless. I literally haven't lost weight dieting for years so that seems a good start.

I missed one dose one night but that will be standard as I'm not here one or two nights a week.

A good start, just really hoping I don't get scary side effects.
