@Shabang21

Hi, is anyone still on this thread at all? 🙏
Hello! How are you?
Shabang21 · 03/02/2022 15:28

Hi!

I’m very well thank you! How are you? This is my first post on here ever, so honestly not sure I’m doing it correctly Grin

I started Saxenda today, and was just wondering if anyone else was still using it and how they were getting on? Mumsnet is the only resource I’ve found that isn’t either completely terrifying or hard to understand!

EmmaH2022 · 03/02/2022 15:39

Oh, welcome to MN!

I don't know how the people who started the thread are getting along.

I can't remember where I said what...suffice to say I am a week in and hoping to see results on the lowest dose. I have four stone to lose.

I got here from feeling like I have tried everything. I work out regularly but as my weight climbs, I feel less inclined to do it...probably because daily life seems heavy work dragging all this weight around.

I wouldn't be able to tolerate some of the side effects I have heard about so fingers crossed they don't happen!

Shabang21 · 03/02/2022 16:17

I know exactly how you feel. I wake up exhausted, and just feel so uncomfortable all the time! This feels like a bit of a last resort, but I’m at the stage that it’s this or WLS at the mo.

I’d ideally like to lose 5 st, but would be happy with 4 tbh. How are you finding it?

EmmaH2022 · 03/02/2022 16:49

Well, after just a week, good, you probably saw my last post.

It's so nice not to feel hungry so often!

That said, this is my second time. I tried in 2020 or 2021, I literally don't remember accurately because of lockdown. I think when I increased the dose I was ill one night....then in a fit of self hate I chucked out the info pack and what was left in the pen....I can't even think about the cost.

Then a couple of weeks ago I found myself googling surgery and thought, better try this again. But as I say, hoping to just stick at the lowest dose. I've had a lot of pharmaceutical experience and I do wonder if the higher doses are necessary.

Just have to see how it goes.

Tbh I think this is the last resort, I don't think I can do surgery and I hear some people regain the weight even after surgery?

StarbucksQueen · 04/02/2022 08:24

Hi... I get my first pens on Monday.. it would be great if people are still posting on this thread for a bit of support - I haven't told anyone irl, not even my partner.. I've about 3st to lose, and am hoping the side effects are minimal!

Shabang21 · 04/02/2022 08:41

Hi @StarbucksQueen!

I have also not told anyone - even gone to great lengths to “hide” the pens in my fridge because o have the worlds nosiest family 😂

I’m only in my second day, but so far I’ve had no side effects (🤞) so hope it stays like that. I hope Monday goes smoothly for you!

EmmaH2022 · 04/02/2022 09:30

Hi @StarbucksQueen, welcome

I haven't told anyone either.

My sister is coming by tonight but even if she opens the fridge, she probably won't notice.

If I actually lose a significant amount I might tell people. But the last time I lost two stone quickly (because my dad was dying) if anyone noticed, they didn't comment. I think my family didn't notice. Perhaps wearing a lot of loose clothing and infinity scarves works!

StarbucksQueen · 04/02/2022 13:03

I guess I'm lucky having my own place, so don't have to stash the pens secretly... I've said I'm going to be eating more healthily from Monday, so hopefully that will explain any possible weight loss.. we're you OK with the injecting side of stuff? I guess if you do it properly it's not quite so painful?

Helene2019 · 04/02/2022 14:43

@StarbucksQueen there's no pain with the injections. You are injecting into fat (I do the belly area to side of and lower than the belly button). It's not like a vaccination into a muscle or a canula into a vein or like IVF injections in which the liquid you inject stings. It's like an insulin pen so the needle is practically non existent and you barely register it. The only thing is close to your period when skin is more sensitive you may feel it.

EmmaH2022 · 05/02/2022 10:50

Starbucks I find it doesn't hurt.

Went out last night, so limited in what I can wear, it's awful.

And then heaving myself out of bed this morning, I feel such a whale.

Sorry, just wanted a moan!

Shabang21 · 05/02/2022 11:14

@EmmaH2022 - moan away, I feel exactly the same way. I’m avoiding all the clothes I have that might be noticed, as I am literally trying to be invisible. I’ve had issues with my weight since I was 16, and it’s so exhausting (and boring!) that it’s still going on.

@StarbucksQueen - so far I’ve had no pain with the injections at all 🤞

EmmaH2022 · 05/02/2022 14:01

Thank you Shabang

I am short and a very odd shape so the sad thing is, I don't look good at goal weight either, but at the moment I just feel such a heffalump.

Also I do feel embarrassed carrying all this weight in certain situations.

It is sad watching the clothes sizes go up and up too.

In the good news, the stomach emptying more slowly on Saxenda is such a practical bonus!

StarbucksQueen · 05/02/2022 14:32

It's good to know I'll only feel a little prick Grin... have weighed myself today, so I've got a starting point, and I'm no longer guessing how much I might actually weigh. My work clothes are the noticeable clothes, and they've been uncomfortable for a couple of months now.. need to get my head out of the sand!

EmmaH2022 · 05/02/2022 14:57

Starbucks not a euphemism 😂

My mother kept within three pounds of her ideal weight at my age, she was really careful about it and I wish I had done the same.

SprayItOnMe · 07/02/2022 12:51

Hello! Are you still there? I started on Saxender on Saturday, so this is Day 3 for me. I was 14st10 when i weighed myself on Saturday morning. Biggest I've ever been and at 5ft5 that's me as a size 18. 😣 Id like to lose 3.5 stone and that would make me between a 12 and a 14 which is the weight i look best at as i am curvy and look quite sexy at that weight, quite hourglass-y. At the moment i am a barrel. Lol.

I am logging my weight and food on the apps 'My Weight' and 'Nutri Centre' and am eating about 900-1000 calories. Its a struggle though!

StarbucksQueen · 07/02/2022 16:03

Hi ... my pens arrived today, first jab tonight. I work shifts, so that's the easiest time for me.. I used to have an hourglass figure too - now you'd have to look hard, very hard, to find it!!!!
Hopefully we will start to see results soon :)

SprayItOnMe · 07/02/2022 16:55

@StarbucksQueen I started by taking the job in the morning, but i felt too hungry at breakfast so last night took it before bed. This was perfect as i have had zero appetite all day now! Struggled to eat a Muller light for breakfast and a Skinny Whip bar. Had a salad at lunch and will have an omelette for dinner. If i can force it down, lol.

StarbucksQueen · 07/02/2022 17:55

Well that sounds promising?.. I'm not sure I can even imagine not having much of an appetite until it actually happens lol... I'm at work 8-6 tomorrow so hopefully won't have much time to think about food!!

Shabang21 · 07/02/2022 19:19

Hi @SprayItOnMe!

I started Friday, so we’re about the same length in. Today is the first day I can honestly say I have no desire to eat a thing - pretty sure that’s the first time that’s ever happened 😂. I’m trying to only weigh once a week, but I’m feeling very curious to see if there’ll be any change in the scales yet?

EmmaH2022 · 08/02/2022 13:50

I've got my two week weigh in tomorrow

After 1.5lb off the first week, I think it will be no loss this week, I don't feel like I've lost any.

Are you counting your calories as well Emma?
Shabang21 · 08/02/2022 14:19

How is everyone doing with side effects? I have had none until last night where I got a really weird feeling stomach and was properly nauseous. Even got myself in a bit of a panic about my pancreas! This is all normal, right?

EmmaH2022 · 08/02/2022 14:27

I haven't had any side effects but still on 0.6

Sorry if repeating myself but the first time I tried Saxenda, I gave up after having no side effects, then suddenly being ill one night.

At that stage, I was less desperate though. If you search Saxenda posts this year, you can see what side effects others have had.

Not counting calories but eating a lot less. I still find it a real bonus not to feel hungry and not to have to plan around meals but just to think "I'll eat whenever".

StarbucksQueen · 08/02/2022 19:36

Just had my 2nd job, so don't think it's kicked in as yet.. I don't have any scales - my partner does, so might risk a weigh in tomorrow evening.. only took a small amount of food to work today.. didn't feel full, but not ravenous either..
