I weighed in this morning
I was right that I haven't lost any weight

It's my birthday this week as well! I did want to get an actual cake for family and neighbours but I think I might skip it...!

Spinninsweetness · 09/02/2022 12:43

Started saxenda in March 2021, I lost 3 stones in total. The first day I took it I literally had to force myself to eat. It actually works though, it's a miracle! It does come with drawbacks though, the nausea is hideous but it wears off after time. Only problem is when you stop you start eating again 😔

scarlettoharasgreendress · 09/02/2022 14:58

Good afternoon all!

Just ordered my first lot of saxenda with boots. Fingers crossed I'll get approved. I'm 168cm (5'6" in real money) and 107kg. I have high blood pressure and intracranial hypertension. I don't really know how much I want to lose as I have no idea what to expect, but in an ideal world, 70kg seems like an ideal number for my height Blush

Anyway, I've been reading some of your tips etc and I'm truly hoping that I'll get it prescribed and that it will work for me. I also have long covid so exercise is really not an option right now. Saxenda is hopefully what I need to lose some serious timber!

Spinninsweetness · 09/02/2022 15:29

A mate of mine has just started on mysimba, another weight loss approved tablet. So far so good for her, she's lost 5 llbs in a week.

Shabang21 · 09/02/2022 16:51

I couldn’t face taking it yesterday after feeling soooooo rough. I’m going to try dropping to .3 instead of .6 and seeing if that makes a difference? Also going to take it in the evening rather than morning, and see if this makes a difference. Haven’t got on the scales yet 😬

Shabang21 · 09/02/2022 16:51

Best of luck @scarlettoharasgreendress 🤞

EmmaH2022 · 09/02/2022 16:53

scarlett welcome along and I hope you recover asap

Shabang sorry you're feeling rough

I take it in the evening and it has stopped the midnight munch attack completely.

spinnin if it works I will have to worry about regain. No nausea so far though.

StarbucksQueen · 09/02/2022 19:22

Jab 3 on 0.6 today, so far no side effects and although I'm cutting down on food I'm not getting that 'fullness' feeling yet either.. trying to resist a weigh in until the weekend!

EmmaH2022 · 10/02/2022 13:13

Took 1.2 last night
Feel a bit icky today
Woke up with a headache

scarlettoharasgreendress · 11/02/2022 10:41

Still haven't had my prescription approved 😭 I'm on some pretty weird and wonderful meds for various things so I'm guessing that's why. But I want to get cracking!

EmmaH2022 · 11/02/2022 10:44

scarlett did you talk to your doc about it?

I didn't take it last night, thought I'd give it a breather as I wasn't feeling great after the increased dose.

Shabang21 · 11/02/2022 10:57

How are you feeling today @EmmaH2022?

I’m feeling much better after dropping my dose, and had my first weigh in this morning and have lost 5lbs which has made me feel better too!

EmmaH2022 · 11/02/2022 11:05

That's great Shabang, is that in a week? Well done!

I am feeling fine today.

Full disclosure - I will be having birthday cake this weekend! Mum also wanted to either go out for dinner or get a takeaway. I said no to that bit but I am out with a friend and there will be booze.

So I will skip a dose at the weekend as well. Birthday cake is important to me!

Shabang21 · 11/02/2022 11:46

If it were my birthday I would also be eating [a lot of] cake! Many happy returns 🎉

Yes, 5lbs in a week, which I’m pretty chuffed with!

EmmaH2022 · 11/02/2022 12:36

Thanks Shabang

5lb in a week is amazing. On a diet, I average about half a pound a week.

The first week I lost 1.5lb on 2 meals a day. Do you mind if I ask what you are eating please?

I'm planning to give leftover birthday cake to neighbours btw, not just going to sit here with it! 😂 Mum was saying it's probably okay to freeze. I am not convinced but not going to do that anyway.

scarlettoharasgreendress · 11/02/2022 14:58

@EmmaH2022 yeah. Spoke to my cardiologist today too and they're happy... it's not anything that interacts with saxenda, so I'm guessing they're just being super cautious... but who knows?

EmmaH2022 · 11/02/2022 17:18

It's more likely to be funding?

Does anyone know why you can't split the dose? Doubling it seems quite drastic and I felt nauseous..so why not try 0.6 in the morning and evening?

I have taken a hefty amount of medication in my life and there is often no sense at all in the recommendations so wonder if anyone has tried it.

scarlettoharasgreendress · 11/02/2022 18:47

Oh I'm in wales - this is via private script. It's not on the nhs here 😏

scarlettoharasgreendress · 12/02/2022 16:33

Yay! Been approved. Just waiting to hear when I can fetch them.

Oh good!

I'm not sure anyone on the thread got it on NHS either but I don't feel like it's as well known as some of the other drugs like orlistat.

StarbucksQueen · 13/02/2022 08:45

Had my first weight in yesterday.. not lost a bean :( quite disappointed as I thought I eaten a lot less this week.
Increased my dose to 0.8 last night in the hope it avoids the side effects kicking in. Don't feel particularly hungry right now, so happy to replace breakfast with brunch :)..
Enjoy your birthday cake Emma!.. its my birthday next month, and I'll be making sure there is cake!!

EmmaH2022 · 13/02/2022 11:35

Starbucks
I know the feeling.

It's nearly three weeks for me, well it will be on Wednesday. I have to order another pen by the end of the week, if I do.

I am supposed to resume an exercise programme today, with weights. I am worried about it as weights make me hungry....

Looking at surgery tbh. Or just staying fat?! Sorry to be negative...I hopped on the scales this morning, no change.

Newnanny2021 · 13/02/2022 21:49

Hi I’m new here and was hoping for some support and advice. Day 3 taking Saxender 0.6 mg. I’m 5ft 7 and weigh 13 stone. Really would love to lose 2.5 stone. I jab first thing in the morning and feel slightly nauseous early evening so no real side effects. However, I have completely lost appetite and am forcing myself to eat. I’m probably eating/drinking 500 to 600 calories a day which is probably not too healthy. I don’t want to stuff my face as before but I do need to eat more. Many thanks

I don't know what to say because you are only just overweight...did you try other methods?

If you know you need to eat more then surely don't take the meds that suppress your appetite?

Newnanny2021 · 13/02/2022 22:19

Yes tried dieting but find it really hard to stick to. No bloody willpower! I’ve been piling on the pounds for the last couple of years. Maybe because I’m menopausal but probably because I eat too much. I don’t think i explained myself properly. I realise that the jabs suppress appetite. I would like to know if anyone has had a complete appetite loss and how long this would last for. Thanks
