I've downloaded an app called Happy Scale. It's a very easy weight loss tracker. Once you have entered your details it breaks the weight loss down into 10 milestones and predicts the date that you will reach your milestone. It's on iOS but not sure about Android.

@thecutback maybe your weight loss was from the fear of AIBU yesterday 😂. It's great that you are now in the 10st bracket. Well done.

Ooooh I'll download!

Morning!
I'm enjoying a last lie in - I love my sleep!
Did a healthy food shop yesterday. OH and I are doing a pescatarian month so it was fun to seek out different products. Normally my food shopping is very formulaic - whole chicken for roasting, chicken breasts for something else, beef mince for a spag bol or lasagne, sausages and bacon for the weekend, ham for quick sandwiches, etc.

I've bought prawns, smoked mackerel, tuna, loads of fruit and veg and some vegetarian soups to take to work.

Yesterday we had Thai fish cakes with little roast potatoes and salad for tea. Then I spoilt it by necking the best part of a bottle of Prosecco! The rest of the family had cheesecake and profiteroles with chocolate sauce and extra cream but I just got tipsy instead!
Happy Sunday, everyone!

steph2412 · 03/01/2021 10:24

I've just downloaded happy scale do you post your weight every day or weekly?

thecutback · 03/01/2021 10:31

I'll post daily. I think you're meant to because it evens out the daily fluctuations for you

Soral · 03/01/2021 10:31

@steph2412 I have been recording daily to help keep me focused but I guess you can do it weekly. I like it because it's just so simple and I can see my progress.

Soral · 03/01/2021 10:33

@thecutback yes I think you are right about posting your weight daily. I'm happy with that but I appreciate that some people don't want to weigh everyday. It gives me something to look forward to 🤣

@Soral - many thanks for the app recommendation, I’ve downloaded it too and it looks great & easy to use

My weight fluctuates a LOT with hydration etc, so seeing the running average is helpful to stop 1 bad day being demotivating

I really like that it’s broken my goal up into little chunks (4 pound milestones) so I’ve already hit one of those :)

thecutback · 03/01/2021 12:15

I go off track if I weigh weekly but for some the daily fluctuations put them off track! Minefield!

steph2412 · 03/01/2021 12:16

That's great thanks everyone! I will post daily! So I am 16st 1lb tape measure is coming later so I will measure up! I want to get to 12st 10 as I felt great at that weight before! I've split my goal into 10 chunks on the app which is 4.7 lbs a chunk so that should keep me motivated!

Soral · 03/01/2021 12:38

Weighing daily suits me as I am less likely to stuff my face in the evenings as I know I will need to weigh myself in the morning.

I made a point of eating all the Christmas chocolate before the 1st as there is no way I would have any self control with chocolate and biscuits in the house. I find myself keep looking in the cupboards for something sweet to eat but there's nothing there.

I'm going to do an online shop as I can't trust myself to actually go into the supermarkets.

Hello all, can I join please?

I've not overweight and I've not got a huge amount to lose - I was carrying almost a stone that I didn't want but lost half of it earlier this year. My target is 8s 13lb. I was that weight or thereabouts for years but have not been there since Feb 2019. I have a very small frame (for this read gangly limbs Grin ) so an extra stone or half stone is a lot on me. I'm the sort of person who puts on 3lb and everyone tells me I'm looking well, lose 3lb and everyone asks if I've been ill!

I tend to lose it quite easily at the start then it slows and quite often stops and very occasionally reverses (I think that's water weight, I am prone to that.) I started cutting down on New Year's Day:

1st Jan 9s 7 and 3/4lb
2nd Jan 9s 6 and 1/2lb
3rd Jan 9s 5 and 1/2lb

I weigh daily as I find that works for me, it helps me keep motivated for the next day. I am Autistic so quite regimented about these things, and it might explain the way I write/document my losses too Smile

Good luck to everyone, whether we have lots or little to lose to be comfortable in our bodies Smile

Soral · 03/01/2021 14:09

Welcome @MrsCalypsoGrant, thanks for joining us. Good luck.

Did 5.5km walk yesterday & ate relatively well.
Today I've done 2km strenuous walk and will do a more gentler one later.
Food planning for the week now to help avoid snacking.

poorpaws · 03/01/2021 15:10

I’ve downloaded Happy Scales too (thank you Soral), which is a bit of a miracle because I’m the least techie person on the planet. So I’ll be joining the daily weigh-in, if I can remember 🤔

Doing ok with food today but the exercise has taken a nosedive. It’s so, so cold here and I haven’t walked the dogs. I’ve been taking the Christmas decorations down and it’s taken most of the day. I don’t want to start beating myself up about exercise this early so I’ll just let it go and go out for a walk tomorrow. I have to be careful doing too much as I have health problems relating to tiredness (ME) but I’ve had it for many years so handle it quite well.

I’m loving all the motivation and support on here, I think we’ll all do well if we continue to post and help each other. I know I’ll need help soon when the weigh-loss gets boring (but I’m one of the Barrel triplets you know so I’ll be fine 😂).

Keep on everyone we’re doing great so far.

micc · 03/01/2021 15:19

I think I'm going to download happy scales too.. I need to my scales new batteries first Haha I'm scared! I did my second couch to 5k run today and I've started the 30 day yoga challenge with Adrienne on YouTube. I've done it before but never finished. It's not as easy to do some of the poses with my current mum tum!!
I've also started properly counting calories too :)

WeirdWomble · 03/01/2021 15:33

I weighed yesterday morning. 171.2 lbs (12.2 st) Sad I'm 5ft 4.

have started teaching my meals with mfp today.

I'm so annoyed that I've left myself put on so much weight this year. I'd previously lost a lot but then had a prolapse and had to stop exercising. My eating then just went out the window too.

Really hoping I can get back on track this year. I've got a couple stones to lose

Soral · 03/01/2021 15:36

Well I've walked the dog, it is so cold outside. I hate the cold so much. I walked really quickly and then over heated. It's not easy lugging over 12st around 😄

Does any one else find that the cold makes you feel hungry? I mean, who's going to want to eat salad right now!

OP posts:
WeirdWomble · 03/01/2021 15:51

yep so much hungrier in the winter.

I'm on my last day of isolation currently so going to get out for a walk tomorrow

poorpaws · 03/01/2021 17:36

So another member is 5ft 4 and weighs 12st 2lbs. Snap weirdwomble exactly the same.

Elmashbu · 03/01/2021 17:48

Can I join for support?

Went from 13stone 5 at start of lockdown to 12 but have gained 6lbs in December through cheese chocolate and wine.

Feel so angry with myself for falling out of the habit so have to be back on it.

Soral · 03/01/2021 19:07

Hi @Elmashbu thanks for joining us. You've done really well losing weight during lockdown. You just need to get back on track now that Christmas has gone. Good luck.

Closing out at 1467 cals today. Wish it was lower but I did have the last glass of wine for this month. Bottle was open and didn't want to waste!

It is the weekend after all!

torthecatlady · 03/01/2021 20:01

I downloaded happy scales today too, I'm using it alongside MyFitnessPal.

I had a roast for lunch (veggies, roast potatoes and gravy) and soup for dinner this evening. I've also done 30 minutes on the exercise bike! Hoping to do a little bit everyday...

Well done to everyone so far!

fingersdoublecrossed · 03/01/2021 20:09

B - 1 coffee and 1 tea
L - tuna, sweetcorn, mayo with salad sandwich on multi-seed granary
D - fish pie with broccoli and peas, lemon and tartare
S - raw carrot and celery sticks
Alcohol too - glass of cava and a fruity gin
Hopefully that's it for the day. 🤞
