The November thread - Lose 7lbs/3kg per month!

cricketmum84 · 02/11/2020 09:07

Morning all,

So sorry for the late start to the month. I had to take a load of work meetings yesterday about impending lockdown and furlough and just totally forgot to set it up!

Welcome to our monthly "lose 7lbs" thread. October lost me a bit with the purchase of new scales which are weighing me a lot heavier! I got DD to weigh on them and they are weighing her about half a stone heavier too so I'm relieved its not just me. Will take it as this months start weight and just hope that they start dropping soon!!

Link to previous thread here if anyone wants to catch up! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/4038204-Lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-The-October-edition-Oooh-spooky

All are welcome whether you are a newbie or a long time follower. There is a great mix of weight loss methods and diets and tons of good advice on here :) We all support each other and celebrate our achievements together!

Good luck for November!!

@SconNotScone good luck with your workout I'm just off for an hour's walk - will also report when done!!

SconNotScone · 10/11/2020 13:17

Hope you enjoyed your walk @Sn0opy! I have done my workout, it was fine! Only a 20 minute one, but aiming to do one most days. Have also had a nice walk with a friend this morning, so feeling tired now!

No breakfast today, soul and bread for lunch, now just enjoying a cup of tea before tackling some housework! Not entirely sure what dinner is going to be this evening, but I have enough calories to come up with something semi decent!

Sorry to hear about your accident @Shedtheload. I think you’re well within your rights to have gone off track a bit. What a big shock for you.

@cricketmum84 I’m pleased you have got a doctors appointment. It must be such a worry, hopefully things will become clearer for you on Wednesday and you know what you’re facing.

SconNotScone · 10/11/2020 13:18

Much as “soul and bread” for lunch sounds delicious, that should of course read “soup”!!

Shedtheload · 10/11/2020 14:51

Thank you @Sn0opy and @DownUdderer. It did knock me for six but I am back on track now and being good.

Sn0opy · 10/11/2020 15:06

Glad to hear you're back on track @Shedtheload! Well done @SconNotScone all that exercise sounds good! I had my march round for an hour so feeling good about that, planned a walk with a friend tomorrow too so glad to have tomorrow's sorted. Had eggs and toast for lunch and fruit for breakfast so feeling good today. The slippery slope is approaching though, the hungry afternoon period! Planning to have something healthy as that's the time where it all goes to pot! How often is everyone weighing? I tend to do every few days but do get disheartened if it isn't going down so maybe weekly would be better?

Sn0opy · 11/11/2020 07:51

That's amazing @FatGirlShrinking!!

Howmanysleepsnow · 11/11/2020 12:52

I’m 1lb down this morning. One to go, but I’ve just had my first Christmas sandwich of the year and a gingerbread latte so doubt it’s going any time soon!
Good to see so many people exercising more. I really need to follow your lead...
@FatGirlShrinking that’s amazing, well done!
@Shedtheload that must have been scary, I completely understand the comfort eating! Well done getting back on track.
@cricketmum84 hope your appointment goes well.

JessJonesJumps · 11/11/2020 13:53

I lost you all. My 'threads you're on' all disappeared Hmm

@cricketmum84 hopefully you won't need surgery after all. You're having a stressful and worrying time. Don't feel like posting here is a daily chore. We promise to behave if you take a wee break. Flowers

@Shedtheload sorry to hear about your accident. Try to take it easy. It would have given you such a fright. Flowers

I'm still trying to lose the final part of the 4lbs I put on last month Hmm I've even doubled up my yoga sessions in the hope of shifting it.

FatGirlShrinking · 11/11/2020 22:11

Hi @cricketmum84 hope your appointment went ok this morning.

DownUdderer · 12/11/2020 03:15

I've had a little walk around the neighborhood just now, very nice. We live up a hill so it always gets the heart pumping on the last stretch! I haven't weighed today, I'll weigh tomorrow.

cricketmum84 · 12/11/2020 04:48

Sorry guys - I'm back after w couple of days having a meltdown. Although I'm a stress starter not a stress eater so I'm down to 16.8 today so 4 off for this month already.

Appt was as ok as can be expected. It's definitely a bladder prolapse. I'm only bloody 36 ffs! Although she did say I'm in the higher risk category for prolapse as I had a very traumatic first labour.

I'm being referred to a gynaecologist urinary specialist type person and GP did say prepare yourself for potential surgical intervention as it's quite a big prolapse. Not looking forward to that but in all honesty it would be nice to get my fanjo back 😂😂

Hope you are all good and haven't missed me too much, haven't formulated much of a food plan for today, mainly Cos I'm exhausted from constantly having to get up for a wee bit I'll update once I've sorted it!!

cricketmum84 · 12/11/2020 04:49

Should say "stress starver"

OP posts:
foresttheout · 12/11/2020 05:24

So sorry about your bladder @cricketmum84 hope they can get it sorted ASAP. I also used to be a stress starver it made me a wonderfully skinny teen and young adult as I wouldn't eat when doing exams at all. Sadly somewhere along the line I transitioned into a stress eater instead

cricketmum84 · 12/11/2020 05:44

Thanks @foresttheout :) I'm just being stressy because I hate anything to do with hospitals and I've never had a GA before.

Plus the nasty (but also lovely) GP had to speculum me to check my cervix and with the prolapse it was almost the worst pain I've ever felt. Had an early night last night after some codeine but I've been awake since 4 in pain "down there"

Just spotted your comment @JessJonesJumps 😂😂 you all behaved beautifully in my absence 😂

I’m up to 9st 8lb again this morning. Not sure if it’s the shortbread I ate last night or water retention from my 21 day shred plus 10minutes abs last night. Does anyone else who exercises erratically find they gain for a day or two afterwards? STS is hard! I feel like I’m constantly battling the same 2lb.

SconNotScone · 12/11/2020 19:57

Sorry to hear your appointment confirmed your suspicions @cricketmum84, I was really hoping it would be something more minor. Lots of luck for when the time comes to think about the treatment options!

I feel you on how hard it is to STS @Howmanysleepsnow!! I have just about managed it for the past 3-4 months or so, Except now want to try and get a few final pounds off, and that is proving difficult too! I am getting such sugar cravings it’s unreal, and I’m struggling to stay motivated not to give in!

cricketmum84 · 13/11/2020 07:52

Morning all :) bit more off this morning so 5lbs off for this month so far. Hoping this is a sign of things to come!

I'm not as sore this morning and slept a lot better last night. Had a few tears before bedtime and a bit of a panic about having to go into hospital but am a bit more settled today.

Plan for today is smoothie for lunch and something with mushrooms for dinner. Haven't decided what yet. Also need to sort my veg order in time for Monday!

Happy Friday!

cricketmum84 · 13/11/2020 07:56

@SconNotScone thanks lovely. I suppose it's better than the alternative. I had a real worry that the lump could be a tumour (I totally catastrophise) so in all honesty knowing it's a prolapse instead is a bit of a relief!!

OP posts:
monkeytennis97 · 13/11/2020 08:19

1lb down... 1lb to go before 5 stone lost, getting excited lol!

DownUdderer · 13/11/2020 09:09

@monkeytennis97 wow! 5 stone is fantastic! We'll done.

Cricketmum, crying and feeling stressed is completely normal! I'm sorry about the prolapse and difficult labour. I'm sure all your weightloss will be a positive for any surgery though. How fantastic!

I've done a great hike today, I saw an echidna on the way back!

I made a birthday cake this week, I over baked it, it was dry as anything. But the buttercream saved the day!!

JessJonesJumps · 13/11/2020 09:12

@cricketmum84 I must confess I did not behave beautifully.Blush I ate an entire box of Ferrero Rocher and half a pizza Shock Of course, with complete lack of consistency, my scales showed a 1.6lbs loss this morning Grin I'm sorry the news wasn't what you wanted but as you say it's much better than the alternative. My DSIS had a prolapse and had surgery. It was a very quick recovery time and she had no further issues. But you may not even need surgery so I hope it doesn't prey on your mind too much Flowers

That's pretty good going losing 5lbs in a week! How did you do it?
FatGirlShrinking · 13/11/2020 11:29

@Elle200 not by a method that I'd recommend 😂

My boss at work is a grade A world class cockwomble. Had me so stressed out I didn't have the time to eat and felt too nervous, panicky and sick to stomach much anyway, so I was skipping breakfast and lunch, having max of 800 calories most days except the weekend.

It all came to a head Monday though and HR have now given me a new manager thank god, so back to living like a normal human being!

I expect to be back to my normal 2lb loss next week.

FatGirlShrinking · 13/11/2020 11:32

@cricketmum84 i really hope you don't mind me asking, and feel free not to answer, I read in an earlier post that you've lost 9 stone which is phenomenal. What is your skin like? I'm worrying about my belly, tops of my thighs and tops of my arms which are looking very wrinkly and saggy right now. I'm only 4 months into losing and it's come off fast (41lb) so I know I have to give it time and lots and lots of moisturiser, body brushing etc, but did you see improvements over time?
