Morning all,

So sorry for the late start to the month. I had to take a load of work meetings yesterday about impending lockdown and furlough and just totally forgot to set it up!

Welcome to our monthly "lose 7lbs" thread. October lost me a bit with the purchase of new scales which are weighing me a lot heavier! I got DD to weigh on them and they are weighing her about half a stone heavier too so I'm relieved its not just me. Will take it as this months start weight and just hope that they start dropping soon!!

Link to previous thread here if anyone wants to catch up! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/4038204-Lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-The-October-edition-Oooh-spooky

All are welcome whether you are a newbie or a long time follower. There is a great mix of weight loss methods and diets and tons of good advice on here :) We all support each other and celebrate our achievements together!

Good luck for November!!

Morning all. First pound off for November :) let's hope it continues!

Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday. I think it all went ok, she was quite anxious about it but the nurse said she had done well. All the assessment stuff goes to a panel now and they decide if she will be diagnosed with anything? So just a waiting game.

Plan for today is:
Cup of tea and lots of water
L - sticking to my smoothies for now. Just a banana, a few strawberries, chia, soy yoghurt and almond milk. I try not to put too much fruit in as I know it can increase blood sugar quite a lot?
D - need to find an interesting recipe with butternut squash. Not sure what to cook yet but will have a browse of the ww app and maybe do something warming in the slow cooker.

Have a lovely Wednesday everyone!

Hi all new here - day 3 of diet.
What do you think of this for daily intake?

B - fat free yogurt (68kcal)
Mid morning - over night oats with unsweetened almond milk and a few sultanas.
L - today is leftover last nights dinner (slow cooked pork in cider/crème fraiche) & broccoli, or its beans on toast (no butter), or small portion of leftovers.
D - small portion of whatever I've cooked for fam (I can't do separate stuff for me)
Snack - satsuma although did have a hot cross bun watching GBBO.
No alcohol during the week and drinking only tea/coffee and water.
Any advice/tips?

@cricketmum84 butternut squash risotto is great at this time of year.

I'm down another pound today.

Welcome @LH1987 and congrats on your baby! Flowers Don't stress too much about weight - 5 months post-partum is still so early. Enjoy cuddling your new arrival. Smile

cricketmum84 · 04/11/2020 10:41

@JessJonesJumps can you do that in the slow cooker? I can never be bothered with risotto as it's so much effort 😂

Please may I join the thread.I don't have a lot to lose but it's still tough, especially with lockdown looming large Sad

My weight at the moment is 59kg. My 'stage weight' is 54kg. The competition season doesn't recommence until next year but I'd love to get down to stage weight to see how my outfits look Blush

1500 calories a day will shift it, so I'm tracking from today. If I don't get my head mashed my lockdown, I'm hoping to be there by the end of November. Sharing in all your successes will really spur me on.

Good luck everyone.

NerrSnerr · 04/11/2020 13:18

Hi all. I'm still around. Not losing much weight at the moment it not putting it on. As the gyms are shutting I am going to start running again to try and not put on weight after the last lockdown when I put a stone on. I will read through the thread properly later.

LH1987 · 04/11/2020 15:27

Thanks @JessJonesJumps, I think I have seen too much in media about Mums being back in pre pregnancy clothes a month after birth and it has made me feel like a total failure. I know that is unreasonable so I am just trying to lose a few pounds now and feel a bit healthier. If anyone has any tips, please share!

I have bought a spiralizer, so am going to try to make courgette spaghetti tonight. I imagine it may be a disaster!

JessJonesJumps · 04/11/2020 15:35

I don't know if you can slow cook it Grin but you can oven bake it which takes away some of the faff and effort. I hated making risotto until I discovered the oven baked recipes!

This is a bacon and tomato risotto but just swop out the bacon and tomato for the squash and onion.

BusyBB · 04/11/2020 15:36

Ooh I havent seen these threads before!

Sw:16 6.5
Gw: 12....?
Cw:12 9.25

Annoyed that after loosing nearly 3.5 stone and then lacking motivation, I have just joined slimming world to keep myself accountable, but now they will only be online... need more accountability!!

NerrSnerr · 04/11/2020 16:00

Oh I forgot stats!

Start weight June 2020 12st 6
Current weight 11st.

I didn't lose much in October (about 2lbs) and have been messing around the 11st mark for weeks but I'm not getting any bigger.

I'm just trying to stay the same and maybe get the odd pound off here and there. I just don't want to get any bigger right now. I'm exercising well at the moment and plan to start running again in lockdown. I have a bit of a bonkers goal to try and run up our local hill, it's only 5k from my house, up the hill and back down but it's really steep (it's the hill they cheese roll down if you've heard of that!

Howmanysleepsnow · 04/11/2020 16:52

Well, the first 1lb of last week’s 4lb gain is off! 3 to go.
I’m really struggling not to comfort eat with all the lockdown uncertainty. DH’s business is closing again, and I’m only an agency worker (all I can fit around DC) so things are unpredictable for me, plus some of my regular workplaces have stopped using me as much as I’ve had to self isolate/ care for young isolating children for 11 weeks so far, which I guess makes me seem unreliable Blush. With all the stress I’m totally craving chocolate. I’ve held off so far, but I’m nnot holding out much hope!

Howmanysleepsnow · 05/11/2020 06:49

Another 1.5lb off this morning, so 2.5lb loss in 4 days. Given I gained 4lb in 7 days it seems it’s coming off at the same rate as it went on, which is good to know is possible. 1.5lb left, plus 0.75” on my waist then I’m back at my goal weight.

JessJonesJumps · 05/11/2020 10:02

@NerrSnerr well done for staying at 11 and for even contemplating the cheese hill. Star

@Howmanysleepsnow we're almost in the same position with our 4lbs gain although I am miles away from my final TW . I'm down another 0.8lbs today so fingers crossed we both lose our extra 4lbs in as many days Grin

GlumyGloomer · 05/11/2020 10:38

Hi, checking in/trying again
I have bravely bought some size 14 jeans, and although skin tight I can actually do them up. My goal for the month is to get them to fit nicely.
75.9kg last night.
Does everyone weigh at a set time? I find from first thing in the morning to last thing at night I get up to a kilo heavier. I mostly try to weigh in the morning Grin.
Thanks for the thread @cricketmum84

SconNotScone · 05/11/2020 20:45

@GlumyGloomer I weigh first thing in the morning, after a wee, before a drink 😅 make myself as light as possible!

Things are going fairly well for me this week. I have exercised every day so far, as I crammed in some gym sessions before lockdown. I have been using a personal trainer for the last two months, which has been amazing and such a big motivator. Never thought I would say it, but I am actually going to really miss the gym! Need to make sure I keep up the exercise at home.

I think I might be about 1-1.5lb down so far this week, but I won’t pay too much attention to the scales until Monday.

Winningatseesaw · 05/11/2020 20:54

For my first week of November I've weighed in the same. Actually a good result as I was doing a lot of eating last weekend. Still onwards and downwards we go!

FatGirlShrinking · 05/11/2020 21:05

@GlumyGloomer I also weigh first thing in the morning after a trip to the loo and before I get dressed or have anything to eat or drink.

Must remember to weigh in Saturday morning as we're having 5 Guys Burgers and Fries delivered Saturday evening and I'll want to ignore the scales Sunday and Monday till I can work it off 😁

DownUdderer · 06/11/2020 05:08

I've done 11km walk this morning, very nice. I had a yogurt for breakfast and a small handful of nuts. I had a couple of crackers to snack on. I had bean salad and a slice of toast with boursin cheese for lunch. Haven't had Boursin in ages, I love it!

DownUdderer · 06/11/2020 05:08

I am staying the same with my weight, I can't wait for the scales to move again!

Shedtheload · 06/11/2020 07:05

Hi all
Sorry I’m a bit late to the thread. Have had a bad week, including on the food front but I am determined to be healthy over the lockdown period. Congratulations on all losses.
@cricketmum84 how crappy about your scales. I find Amazon quite good for relatively cheap scales.

Howmanysleepsnow · 06/11/2020 09:25

Another lb off today so that’s 3.5 of last weeks 4lb gain gone (though we’ve a birthday meal planned for tonight so I’m sure it’ll be backBlush).
@JessJonesJumps how’s your 4lb going? You were nearly there yesterday.

peanutbutterdog · 06/11/2020 11:49

I am down 1lb this mirning to 11st 6lb, pleased with that. Had my birthday midweek and we had Thai takeaway and pancakes so loss not too bad considering. Great to hear others shifting some too - hope this is a better month for all of us.

JessJonesJumps · 06/11/2020 22:16

@Howmanysleepsnow I jinxed myself! Weight was sts today so I still have 0.4lb of my 4lbs to lose. I'm going to squeeze in some yoga at the weekend and hope that works. Smile

PippaL24 · 06/11/2020 22:50

Hiya, i'd like to join if it's ok :)
SW: 14ST 10LB
CW: 14ST 2 LBS
GW: 12ST 5LBS OR 12ST

I gained a stone during the lockdown as I am a student and my mental health has deteriorated a lot and thus resulting in a large gain. I aim to be at a healthy BMI as I am currently on the very overweight percentile. I am trying to eat 1700 calories a day and keep active, but it is difficult as I have a binge eating disorder Sad
