Morning all,

So sorry for the late start to the month. I had to take a load of work meetings yesterday about impending lockdown and furlough and just totally forgot to set it up!

Welcome to our monthly "lose 7lbs" thread. October lost me a bit with the purchase of new scales which are weighing me a lot heavier! I got DD to weigh on them and they are weighing her about half a stone heavier too so I'm relieved its not just me. Will take it as this months start weight and just hope that they start dropping soon!!

Link to previous thread here if anyone wants to catch up! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/4038204-Lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-The-October-edition-Oooh-spooky

All are welcome whether you are a newbie or a long time follower. There is a great mix of weight loss methods and diets and tons of good advice on here :) We all support each other and celebrate our achievements together!

Good luck for November!!

My last 0.5lb is gone despite my birthday meal last night! @JessJonesJumps hopefully yours joins it today.
@PippaL24 welcome. Lockdown comfort eating did the same to me. Staying active sounds a good plan: I find if nothing else it distracts me from thinking about food!

FatGirlShrinking · 07/11/2020 08:23

I moved into the 13s today so now 13st13lb

SW in August was 16st 2lb so I'm happy with my progress, need to keep it up!

Having a bad food day today though as we're ordering burgers and chips in for dinner tonight so we can replicate our normal fireworks night display for DD. We have loads of sparklers, confetti shooters, those candles that are like flares, a light projector thing to make the ceiling look like fireworks and also marshmallows for toasting.

Will have to do some decent exercise this morning and eat very well tomorrow to make up for it.

Howmanysleepsnow · 07/11/2020 08:27

Well done @FatGirlShrinking and enjoy your evening.

GlumyGloomer · 07/11/2020 09:48

75.6kg today, still a very long way to go.
Well done everyone, this thread is very inspiring.
Hello fellow newbies Smile

DownUdderer · 07/11/2020 10:40

I'm a pound down today. I'm getting close to goal weight. I'm thinking about maintenance and what I'll have to eat to achieve that!

NerrSnerr · 07/11/2020 11:37

I'm doing my best to get back on it today. Going to go for a run and do some yoga today and have a zoom yoga class tomorrow. Will try for a run too.

I haven't weighed for a few days but there has been takeaway pizza and a lot of gin.

I don't have huge aspirations to lose loads of weight for the remainder of the year but I want to stay fit and not put any on. I'd like to end 2020 in the 10s and then I can knuckle down in the new year.

Onesmallstep67 · 07/11/2020 14:13

I'm struggling to stay motivated. The new lockdown has made me feel like I need to find comfort or distractions in food and that is not a great mindset for losing weight! I need to be in the right zone for dieting. I seem to have to seriously reduce calories to make any progress. Maybe I can just chip away at it, slow and steady. I have no patience though !

LH1987 · 07/11/2020 15:40

Hi @PippaL24, welcome.

I weighed in today and have lost another lb, so am fairly happy. How often do you guys weigh in, I know it’s really bad but I am tempted every day, which can be disheartening!

I am so sick of being On a diet though, I keep thinking of everything I will eat and drink at Christmas but I don’t think I’ll be able to last that long!

Any tips on staying motivated?

FatGirlShrinking · 07/11/2020 16:01

@LH1987 I weigh in every morning, it works for me and keeps me focused.

I think I'll have to watch what I eat forever as I know that I have a tendency towards overeating sugary food when I'm not actively thinking about keeping it 8n check.

However I do let myself eat treat foods when I need to. Today for example we're having burgers and fries from a takeaway for dinner. It will take up my whole days calorie allowance in one meal. That's fine, I was good yesterday and the day before and I'll be good tomorrow so I can let myself go crazy here and there. The key for me is to track it in MFP so it exists and so that I don't forget and have another big calorie day this week. It's about moderation, something historically I haven't been good at.

NerrSnerr · 07/11/2020 16:40

When I'm on track I weigh every day and it definitely keeps me motivated. What I'm trying to work on is damage limitation when I'm not motivated like making some healthier choices and exercising even when I'm eating rubbish. It's been working fairly ok in the last month or so when life has got in the way but it has spiralled the last week or so but feeling better today and have tracked all my calories.

Went out for a run, the first in many months. Only did 12 minutes but felt I could have gone longer. I have a historic knee injury so was testing that and it was fine. Managed 1.4k which isn't far but is a start. Going to go out again first thing tomorrow and see if I can get to 2k or at least a bit closer.

DownUdderer · 09/11/2020 02:55

I've done a shorter walk today, I'm coming down with a cold. I managed 7.5km. I'm getting very close to target weight now. I'm managed to wear two outfits recently that were target outfits. I'll have to get a photo of myself wearing my skirt that didn't fit since I bought it, it fits! Horay!

I hope you're all doing ok in the lockdown.

cricketmum84 · 09/11/2020 05:59

Morning all :) down to 16.9 today which has cheered me up! 3lbs down on November start weight :)

Feeling stressed today as I have a niggling health problem that I need to see a doctor about. Horrible lump in not a good place. Feeling very nervous about being seen and whether it would need surgery etc so I'm up early and taken some anxiety meds to calm me down.

Plan for today is smoothie for lunch and then a lentil and porcini shepherd pie for dinner with plenty of green veg. I've not eaten much the last few days since I found "the lump" so I could do with a good feed!

Welcome to all the newbies from the last few days :) I do usually try to post every day but apologies for being a bit useless over the weekend!

@LH1987 totally know what you mean about being sick of being on a diet. I've been on ww since December 2018. Granted I've almost lost 9st but it still feels like I've got a long way to go and sometimes I just need some bread and chocolate!

Morning! I’m up 2lb from yesterday, but hoping it’s water retention as I did 21 day shred cardio, then abs, then t25 yesterday. I’m sore today!
I start a new temp job today, no idea how I’ll manage food as there’s no fridge or kitchen and I’m avoiding carbs. Am thinking I’ll take fruit and eat later.
@cricketmum84 hope the meds help and things go better than you’re imagining at the doctor.

TheStirrer · 09/11/2020 08:59

Hope all goes ok at the doctors @cricketmum84. Flowers

Sn0opy · 09/11/2020 09:53

Morning all. I'd like to join if that's ok. Need to get some control over my weight!
CW 169.4 lbs, BMI 28.2, Overweight by 20.4 lbs. GW 140 lbs. Feels very daunting and don't quite know how it all crept on!Confused have tried IF in the past and had some success but have had to stop because of getting terrible headaches. So trying to just have a small bit of fruit for breakfast to keep the headache away but still be good. Current plan is to keep a food diary and a good walk every day. Good luck to all! Smile

GlumyGloomer · 09/11/2020 10:39

Good luck at the doctors @cricketmum84, fingers crossed for you

cricketmum84 · 09/11/2020 10:46

Thanks guys. I've got an apt for an examination Wednesday morning. The GP suggested that based on symptoms I might have a bladder prolapse. Could be fixed with exercises but worst case scenario would need surgery which would terrify the life out of me. Feeling quite scared now

OP posts:
FatGirlShrinking · 09/11/2020 12:06

That sucks @cricketmum84 hope your appointment goes well.

I've had a couple of surgeries in my life on my hand and my eye and both were much less scary in real life than in my imagined scenarios beforehand.

I started the month at 198lb, today 194lb so 4lb loss so far which I'm happy with.

LH1987 · 09/11/2020 12:32

@cricketmum84, wow 9 stone is very impressive! You have inspired me to continue!

I think I will weigh in every couple of days to keep myself motivated. I hope your takeaway was delicious @FatGirlShrinking. I am planning on something from the Chinese on Saturday (if I am good all week!).

DownUdderer · 09/11/2020 23:13

I'm glad you've managed to get a gp appointment cricketmum.

Howmanysleepsnow · 10/11/2020 07:54

Still 9st8lb. I really need to shake this last 2lb (again!)
My muscles are still really sore after my workout on Sunday, plus it my TOTM and I’m craving chocolate. STS is harder than losing!

Shedtheload · 10/11/2020 08:30

@cricketmum84 I hope you won’t need surgery. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Welcome @Sn0opy. This is a great thread for motivation. I find it really helps.

I have been a bit inconsistent the past few weeks. I had a car crash last week where someone hit me from behind. Thankfully I wasn’t badly injured but I was shaken up quite badly and it triggered some binge eating and feeling like I couldn’t be bothered with exercise. To top that off, I also had PMT. I feel much better now. I was eating loads of junk food so I was very worried that I had undone all my hard work. Thankfully it doesn’t seem to be too bad. I have gained a couple of pounds back but in the grand scheme of things that’s nothing really and I am confident that I can lose them quickly.

DownUdderer · 10/11/2020 09:20

@shedtheload, a car accident, how stressful. I'd have been comfort eating in those circumstances.

I'm baking a cake tomorrow for dd's birthday, I'm definitely going to be having a slice on Thursday.

Sn0opy · 10/11/2020 09:21

Thanks @Shedtheload, I'm hoping it will keep me on track and motivate me a bit! Sorry to hear about your accident. I find that literally anything in life can throw me off and suddenly I'm back to square 1. Hoping being a little less restrictive (food diary rather than calorie counting) might keep me going as I'm usually really good for a couple of weeks and then anything occurs and I'm off dieting again. Also got an aim to walk (briskly!) For an hour each day, managed it yesterday and will go again soon. Hope everyone is getting on ok!!

SconNotScone · 10/11/2020 10:18

I lost 1lb this week, would have been more, except I ate everything in sight from Friday to Sunday, so only have myself to blame.

I got back on track yesterday, and did a 20 min resistance band workout. I am planning to do another one today, but am struggling to get motivated. I’m going to finish this post and force myself to go off and do it, then I can come back to the thread to report it as done!
