Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

Well done with everyone's weight losses!
I started off being really good this week then it all went to pot and I had fish and chips and a cider or five on Thursday evening and a pizza last night. I will be better this week. On a plus I managed to lose 2 lbs, I'm now 10st exactly so I'm now motivated to eat well.

DownUdderer · 11/10/2020 09:48

I didn't weigh in this morning, I thought I'd wait until tomorrow after having a good day today. I guess I thought I'd be up a pound and I couldn't face it! I think I had a good day today. I had an apple, raw carrot and nuts for snacks today. I'm going out for a hike tomorrow.

MirandaWest · 11/10/2020 13:11

I went for an hour long run this morning - was beautiful out there Smile

MirandaWest · 11/10/2020 13:12

Was 67kg again this morning which I am happy with. Getting nearer to being not overweight Smile

Howmanysleepsnow · 11/10/2020 13:24

Good to see some losses this morning!
I’m still 9st 11lb, which means yesterday’s loss wasn’t just a blip.
No idea how I’ll do today. My youngest ds has a tummy bug so all plans to walk more are off. I’ve not had chance to eat yet, and no idea what I’ll be able to make/ how much chance I’ll have to eat it. I’m currently alternating between lying with him while he rests, stroking his back while he throws up and making sure the other 3 are fed/ homework done/ entertained enough to keep out of trouble!

Forresttheout · 11/10/2020 20:33

Had a bit of a fail this weekend by eating my feelings about definitely not being able to get home at all this year and probably into next year.
Not eating feelings is definitely something I need to work on. Will see what the damage is tomorrow morning Blush

DownUdderer · 12/10/2020 04:12

I've had a long, hard hike today. It was all up and down pretty steep steps and slopes. Honestly if I'd known what the walk was like before I set off I probably wouldn't have done it! It was in a national park. You walk down a steep path to a creek and then up the other side and it loops around, 8.8km.

I've put on a pound this weekend. I'm pretty miffed.

I need a good week now.

Sorry to see @Howmanysleepsnow your LO is ill. Hope you don't catch any germs.

Shedtheload · 12/10/2020 07:55

@Howmanysleepsnow hope your DS feels better soon. Stomach bugs are the worst.

@MirandaWest well done on your run. I can’t quite manage a full hour of running but am hopefully building up to it. @daisychain1620 I’m impressed with that weight loss. Well done!

@Forresttheout yeah I used to be really bad with eating feelings too. I thought it made me feel better to eat but all it did was stop me feel bad. It didn’t improve my life in any way. Getting better now but still a way to go.

@DownUdderer your hike sounds great. I wish I lived within walking distance to a proper hiking trail. There are some nice walks near me but mainly flat and they are SO muddy at the moment. Love getting out there and listening to my audiobooks and forgetting everything else.

MsMiaWallace · 12/10/2020 10:11

Well apparently I've put 2lb on :(
I've eaten really healthy & not a lot!
Only treat was x2 glasses of cava at the weekend so hardly huge. Also done x3 hiit classes & spinning.

I'm on my period so hoping it's just that. Im gutted as it puts me back to 11st. & I really wanted chocolate over the last few days :(

Forresttheout · 12/10/2020 11:22

@MsMiaWallace I always maintain or gain when on my period and it usually drops of the next week along with the weight I should've lost so fingers crossed for you you'll be back in those 10s asap

Shedtheload · 12/10/2020 13:11

Same here. It’s almost certainly due to your period if you’ve been eating well.

TheStirrer · 12/10/2020 13:34

I have somehow managed to put on 2lbs this week as well Sad. Not sure why as didn’t think I had been too bad and definitely not due to period. Hopefully onwards and downwards this week.
@cricketmum84 - survived yoga without farting or falling over which were my 2 main concerns but did ache 2 days later. Planning on going again as a nice way to start the day..

DownUdderer · 12/10/2020 22:05

Yoga sounds great, well done for giving it a go. One day I'll try it.

I'm struggling this week, I've stayed the same even though I've been good. I'm really frustrated if I'm honest.

JessJonesJumps · 13/10/2020 02:04

I haven't really weighed. It's been a very stressful time. DM had an accident and was in the ICU. She's still in hospital but is starting to recover. I haven't been sleeping or eating properly- not enough of the former and too much of the latter. And now it's TOTM. I feel like I'm hanging on by a thread. I don't want to put lots of weight back on but I'm finding it hard to prioritise counting calories and exercising atm. I'll go back and catch up with the thread now.

DownUdderer · 13/10/2020 02:51

Jessjonesjumps that really sounds stressful, love after yourself. I hope your mum recovers more each day. She'll be in my thoughts.

I've just steamed some asparagus and broccolini, and fried some courgette. I've topped it with cheddar cheese and butter. That'll be my lunch, tasty healthy and focused! I ordered a big fruit and veg delivery. I just need to have good things in front of my face to help me avoid making silly choices. The veg drawer in my fridge is full till bursting now. And we've got heaps of fruit to get through! I'm feeling positive compared to my moaning this morning!

Good luck everyone. Keep on keeping on.

Shedtheload · 13/10/2020 05:26

Oh gosh I am so sorry to hear about your mum @JessJonesJumps. How awful for you. I agree that you should look after yourself and not to stress about food at this time. I hope she carries on getting better. Flowers

Forresttheout · 13/10/2020 07:25

Braved the scales after my terrible weekend comfort eating and have gained 1.3lb so back to being super strict for the rest of the week and trying to fit in as much exercise as possible. I am working away next week in an area where it will be far far to hot to realistically do any exercise and I will have to eat what I'm given so would like to try and minimize the impact by being extra good until Friday.

Sorry to hear about your mum @JessJonesJumps look after yourself now is not the time to stress about food. I hope she recovers as quickly as possible Flowers

cricketmum84 · 13/10/2020 08:13

Morning all, sorry I've been MIA. Not had the best few days MH wise and wasn't really up to posting. Haven't eaten very much and down another pound giving me total loss of 8 and a half stone so far. Happy to have hit another milestone!

💐 for @JessJonesJumps and your mum. Hope her recovery continues. Echoing others thoughts that you need to look after yourself and not be worrying about losing weight right now.

@TheStirrer yay glad you enjoyed it! The post yoga burn is hard though isn't it!

Lovely to read through all the losses from the last few days, we'll done all!

I have logged back into ww and switched to purple plan. I definitely need to be eating more! Will see if it makes any difference this week.

Have a lovely day everyone.

MsMiaWallace · 13/10/2020 08:31

Thanks guys.
Will see how the scales read in a couple of days.
It's so frustrating as I know I've been good.

What do you guys have for breakfast generally?
I've just had some porridge oats topped with a couple of strawberries. Weighed out 40g & made with 50ml water & 50ml semi milk. I like it thick lol

cricketmum84 · 13/10/2020 08:38

@MsMiaWallace I'm rubbish at eating breakfast, I don't generally get hungry until about 11.

If I do fancy something I tend to have a bit of soya yoghurt with a few Tesco light honey oat flakes or a very small portion of muesli. Maybe a few berries if I have any in the fridge.

Revisiting this lovely thread as joined this time last year.

Am 5 ft 6

Oct 2019 11st 11 - 76 kg
Feb 2020 9st 9
Oct 2020 9st 9

Maintaining means sticking to 16 8 in the week and cardio most days but still enjoy puddings and wine and this year encompassed lockdown and lovely long summer holiday neither of which made me gain so determined to not slip back!

Good luck all

cricketmum84 · 13/10/2020 08:56

Hello @MsTSwift !! Lovely to see you again :)

You've done amazing to maintain through the utter crapness of the last 6 months!

Hi everyone, very long time lurker here. I had a pretty successful 2019 losing weight but 2020 has been a different matter and the last 7 months have undone a big chunk of my hard work last year.
I need to get back on this ! My initial aim is to lose a stone by the end of the year. That really should be achievable, well that is what I am trying to tell myself ! Need to re find my focus and get through the first couple of days without caving in to temptation.

Howmanysleepsnow · 13/10/2020 09:38

@JessJonesJumps that sounds really stressful. I hope your mum’s recovery goes smoothly.

I’ve been living very unhealthily out of vending machines for the last couple of days as DS was admitted to hospital on Sunday night. He’s much better now and hopefully we can go home tomorrow.

MsMiaWallace · 13/10/2020 09:51
