Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

@MsMiaWallace I tend to fast as long as possible and eat around 2-3pm. No reason other than it’s easier for me to fast in the morning as once I start eating it triggers my appetite. I’ve tried 10-6 and 11-7 but find I struggle way more in the evening.

Ardagusdubh · 13/10/2020 11:48

Hi everyone, haven't been doing too well, the chocolate has been calling and I've eaten far too much of it 🙈 put on a pound a few days after joining the thread but weighed this morning and I've lost it again and 2 more so I'm delighted! I've started running again this month (managing about 3x 5km a week) plus a good bit of walking so that must have saved me. Really want to stop the mindless chocolate/biscuit habit as it is just that and honestly sometimes just not even enjoying it. Need to work on that! Any advice on how to avoid the treats?

Shedtheload · 13/10/2020 14:08

@Howmanysleepsnow how worrying about your DS. So glad he’s on the mend now.

When I’ve done 16:8 it’s been 11-7 normally. Not doing it at the moment because I was finding it a struggle the more weight I lost. This morning I woke up and was planning to wait until later to eat but felt really dizzy and faint so had to have something first thing. I definitely find that I’m getting hungrier now that I’m almost at my target weight. Maybe my body senses that there’s not that much in the fat reserves to rely on anymore.

@cricketmum84 hope you feel better. I can’t believe you’ve lost 8 and a half stone. That’s such an amazing achievement.

Forresttheout · 13/10/2020 16:18

@MsMiaWallace I loosely follow 16:8 I.e I don't do it on weekends or days when I have a very full on morning. I usually manage about 4 days a week and I fast 8-12. Like other I started off doing 7-11 and 6-10 but I find it much easier to go longer in the mornings rather than trying to have dinner early.

MsTSwift · 13/10/2020 16:28

7pm to early lunch 12 ish. Weirdly fine in the morning don’t get hungry until I’ve eaten. Realised my pre lunch shaky hunger was actually a carb crash from my old toast / cereal breakfast! Took until I was 45 to realise this about myself!

NerrSnerr · 13/10/2020 20:24

Hi all. Had a hectic few days so I'll read back properly in a bit. Had my first yoga class in a week today and it was lovely. I'm not being brilliant with food but not gaining right now but will be able to up my exercise again this week so that'll help.

DownUdderer · 14/10/2020 00:34

Sorry to see hospital visits and illness for people here. Look after yourselves. I'm sorry you're not the best just now cricketmum.

It's difficult isn't it, I know if I'm mega stressed all I really really want is chocolate and things like croissants with butter and jam. There's definitely something in the brain that controls it.

I'm just waiting a couple more minutes until I have a yogurt for breakfast.

My youngest is off to kindergarten orientation tomorrow for a couple of hours! It's come around so fast! I'm in Australia so our terms are quite different to the uk. He won't start school until the end of January next year. But they have a few sessions of orientation this term as a taster. I'll go for a walk while he's in there to keep my mind busy. Hell be fine and he'll enjoy it, it's just the end of an era.

It's great to read about maintenance, I hope I can manage to maintain my weightloss over the next year.

Good luck everyone.

Shedtheload · 14/10/2020 08:27

@FatGirlShrinking that is fantastic progress. Well done. Not long til your BMI is under 30!

NerrSnerr · 14/10/2020 08:59

Thinking of everyone who is going through a rough time. If you need to take some time out we'll be here when you're ready to come back.

Well done to the people who have lost. I have only lost 1lb in October but my head is in the right place again and I will hopefully be able to do an exercise class tonight. I am almost half way to my goal weight, I just need to stick with it.

Onesmallstep67 · 14/10/2020 09:01

Day 1 back on it and 1lb down this morning, although that means nothing really. Hoping to see a few more gone by the end of the month.
I did a walk yesterday, 10k on the exercise bike and managed to get through the day eating sensibly which is the first time in a long time. I always find that first day so difficult, so pleased to have that behind me.
Have a great day everyone.

MirandaWest · 14/10/2020 09:10

I am continuing on the downward trajectory - was 66.5kg this morning which means I have lost 13kg since the end of June which is also just over 2 stone 😊 and getting tantalisingly near to not being overweight.

SW 24.6.20 79.5kg/12 stone 7lb BMI 30.1
CW 13.10.20 66.5kg/10 stone 7lb BMI 25.2
TW by the end of the year? 60kg/9 stone 6lb BMI 22.9

FatGirlShrinking · 14/10/2020 09:25

@Shedtheload just 6lb left to go and I'll be overweight instead of obese. Really hoping with a concerted push I can do it by the end of this month 😁

Howmanysleepsnow · 14/10/2020 12:49

Me and DS7 are home from hospital now!
I’ve weighed in at 9st9lb, so 4 days of vending machine chocolate, stress and not much else hasn’t done any harm: I’m 2lb down from Saturday and 4lb from the start of the month. 2lb to go to my target weight (though I may keep going a little longer to get rid of the last belly fat)

TheGhostofGlumy · 14/10/2020 13:52

Hi everyone, I know we're already half way through October but can I join?
Over summer I went up to 80kg, and by cutting portions and snacks got down to 76kg, but there I have stuck, for over a month now. The sugary snacks have crept back in with the cold weather, and I really need a bit of motivation to get back on track. My target weight is 63kg, so there's a huge way to go.

NerrSnerr · 14/10/2020 18:07

@Howmanysleepsnow glad you're home now. Good luck with those last 2lbs. You'll get there in no time! Welcome @TheGhostofGlumy- I have been the same with the cold weather, just managing to get back into it now.

I have just done a 'total body workout'. Bloody hell, I'm used to just yoga and Pilates and this was hardcore with weights. It'll be a weekly occurrence too as it fits in well with the kids club classes. It'll do me good in the long run. I'm half tempted to try and book onto a spinning class on Saturday but not sure if I can bring myself to do it as they're massively hardcore!

cricketmum84 · 14/10/2020 19:00

Sorry for late check in today guys, had a really busy day with work.

Haven't weighed today but have eaten pretty well. Didn't have time for breakfast so just grabbed a handful of grapes, lunch was crackers and hummous and just had low fat creamy mushrooms for dinner.

Me and littlest DD have been messing about with some of my old clothes tonight and snapped this! It's given me the giggles and had to share on Facebook! It really shows the difference!

Glad you are both home now @Howmanysleepsnow :) hope he keeps recovering.

Welcome @TheGhostofGlumy there's never a bad time to join us!!

I love the photo @cricketmum84, shows how far you've come. 8.5 stone is amazing amount to lose!

TheGhostofGlumy · 14/10/2020 21:47

Thanks for the thread @cricketmum84, that photo is impressive, you've done so well. I hope I can be successful too.
@NerrSnerr thanks for the welcome. I do no exercise besides housework 🙈 but toddler dd is still breast feeding so that burns up some extra calories for me. When she actually starts sleeping reliably hopefully I'll summon the motivation to do something.

DownUdderer · 14/10/2020 23:10

Theghostofglumy welcome, it's really hard work with a toddler who doesn't sleep! I've been there, just getting through each day is a result!

I'm a pound down this morning, 3lb down for October. I'm really chuffed. I'm starting to really fit into the nice clothes again!!

That photo is amazing cricketmum! What an achievement.

Moving down a category in the BMI chart is so exciting, nearly there fatgirlshrinking!

I have increased my veggies in my meals since my veggie delivery, you've got to eat them fast before they wilt, and I really feel it's given me a boost in weightloss. I just think I need to remain well prepared.

Howmanysleepsnow · 15/10/2020 07:37

@cricketmum84 that’s a great photo, it really made me smile.
@TheGhostofGlumy welcome!

I weighed in today at 9st 7.5lb (my scales are analogue so that is kind of approximate, and I only usually count whole pounds as a result, but it’s definitely under 9st 8lb and may even be 9st 7lb... I took a photo of the scales to zoom in and try to decide, but can’t quite bring myself to claim the 9st 7lb...)
Goal weight 9st 7lb! Nearly there!

DrivingAgain2020 · 15/10/2020 07:45

I'm 10st 11.5 ish so creeping down. I'm going to do a name change but will be back. I will be keeping on with the downward trend! I am excited about reaching 10st7 this month and 10st at the end of November. I will be my target weight by the end of this year which wil be fantastic!

Forresttheout · 15/10/2020 07:48

Reweighed myself today and the extra weight I'd gained at the weekend has gone again so perhaps just bloating. I'm now back at 72kg which is where I was at the start of October. Hoping my work trip doesn't cause to much damage and I can at least manage to loose something this month Blush. I have been really good with the exercise this week managed a couch 2 5k run on Monday, yoga Tuesday and strength training with my trainer yesterday. Hoping to do another run today before I spend most of the next week sat in a car or in meetings before drinking to much at the hotel bar

cricketmum84 · 15/10/2020 08:39

Morning all :) yes the pic made me laugh (and also feel amazing) but also laugh because littlest decided we were going to try walk around in the skirt, very funny! DD weighs just over 8 stone so I've lost an entire person now!

No change to weight but I have taken the good advice on here and measured after my last measurements 3 weeks ago and I'm 1 inch down on waist, 2 inches on hips, 1.5 on bum and 1 on each thigh so I think the yoga practice is probably skewing my weight losses slightly but having a positive effect on my body shape.

Plan for today is:
B - 1 slice seeded toast with marmite
L - vegan cauli cheese soup made with nutritional yeast rather than actual cheese
D - 2 Richmond meat free sausages with roasted peppers, courgettes and onions

Hope the work trip goes well @Forresttheout your exercise regime this week so far sounds very good!

That's exciting @DrivingAgain2020 Target will soon be yours!!

Soooo close @Howmanysleepsnow that's amazing!

@DownUdderer I need to put my veggie order together this morning. Is there anything you have particularly enjoyed this week?? I need inspiration!

Have a lovely Thursday everyone!

Broccolini. Avocado. Sugar snap peas. Courgette. And I forgot to order the baby corn, but I love them! Also I just love the tomatoes because they're flavorful compared to supermarket ones!

I had a hike today, all up hill on the way, then downhill to get back to the car. Then I'm hoping to get 10 thousand steps tomorrow.
