Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

I try and keep my scales in the same place, on a tiled floor. I don't think mine are 100% accurate but they seem to be consistent. I'd have to get weighed at the GP to get something accurate I think, but I wouldn't bother to do that!

I'm going to burn calories doing housework today!

Winningatseesaw · 20/10/2020 07:22

I try and out my scales in the same spot on a tiled floor. When I move it around I get different results so just keep to one spot and take that reading.

NerrSnerr · 20/10/2020 08:22

Hi all I'm back, 3lbs up and determined to get back on track today. Have a yoga class later and will put a healthy curry in the slow cooker for tea. I'm back on it to forge some kind of a loss for October!!

cricketmum84 · 20/10/2020 08:46

Happy Tuesday!

Down another lb this morning :) so close to the 7lb target, it's the best month I've had in ages!

My scales are on a tiled floor in the bathroom and don't move from that spot. Although I do have some analogue scales somewhere so might weigh on them too to compare the results.

Planning a little salad for lunch of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, feta and olives with a grilled wholemeal pitta. Dinner is 2 Richmond meat free sausages with dry fried garlic mushrooms and an egg. Haven't had eggs for ages but my mum brought me some from a farm near her where the hens properly free range and get cuddles and stuff so I feel like these eggs are ok. (I have serious issues with the egg industry normally)

Busy work day today so will catch up with the thread properly later!

Great results @cricketmum84, you're doing so well. Looks like the change of diet plan is having a positive impact.
I'm another lb down too this morning. I think I restarted last Tuesday so that's 3.5 lbs in this first week. Aiming at losing a stone by the end of the year. I am mostly cutting back and cutting out, upping the salad and vegs and limiting carbs at lunch and dinner. Just can't manage without something carby for breakfast and am so hungry first thing that I would struggle to go until lunchtime without anything. I take my hat off to those who manage OMAD. Keep at it losers !

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/10/2020 09:37

@cricketmum84 that’s great, seems like ww is really working for you.
I’m 9st 5.5lb today so 0.5lb down despite 400 calories more than when I was actively trying to lose. I clearly have no idea how this maintenance thing works as I seem to be losing easier now I’m trying to maintain Confused

MirandaWest · 20/10/2020 10:01

Weighed myself this morning and I was 66kg. Now depending on exactly how tall we say I am I am possibly a healthy weight Grin.

I’m 5 foot 4 which is 1.625m. If it’s 1.62m I am still overweight. If it’s 1.625 I am a healthy weight Smile

October is going well so far - have lost 3.6kg, after losing about 0.5kg for the whole of September. Have been running 5k every day for the past 9 days though as part of a Macmillan challenge and that ends tomorrow

Ecci · 20/10/2020 10:19

Weigh in today, down 3.4 lbs for the month so far, so pleased after the nothingness of September. Went for a bike ride yesterday, just getting back to it after my long recovery from my heart op in January. It wasn't as hard as I expected, did 5.2 miles as I didn't want to overdo it on my first attempt. Disappointingly, my smartwatch reported that I'd burned a measly 141 calories - how is that possible? My 2 mile walk with the dogs was more than that, 266. Also, I'd forgotten how cycling makes your bum hurt, must get some new padded knickers, the old ones are huge on me now. Well done on all the losses, some great losers here.

DownUdderer · 20/10/2020 10:54

I haven't ridden a bike in ages! But I'm wincing just thinking about a painful bum after a bike ride!!

It's nice to read of pounds disappearing for people!

I baked a giant cookie this afternoon for my DS birthday tomorrow, I had some mix left over and made normal cookies as well. I had one while it was still warm from the oven! Of course it just made me crave more. I guess I'll eat a few off plan things tomorrow.

Ardagusdubh · 20/10/2020 11:39

Back at it today! 5km run and Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast. Down one of the lbs I put on over the weekend so back where I started at the beginning of the month!
Well done everyone, fantastic results Smile

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/10/2020 12:29

Really impressed by all the exercise going on. I really ought to do something other than walking.

Angrymum5 · 20/10/2020 16:02

Oh wow! Look at all these losses!! Unfortunately for me I’ve gain half a pound Sad But I’m sure I can lose it!

DownUdderer · 21/10/2020 01:00

I walk for exercise, I enjoy it so that's important for me! Else I know I'd find excuses not to exercise at all!

FatGirlShrinking · 21/10/2020 07:25

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4
30/09/2020 - 207lb, BMI 31.5
07/10/2020 - 205lb, BMI 31.2
14/10/2020 - 203lb, BMI 30.9
21/10/2020 - 201lb, BMI 30.6

Loss this week - 2 lb
Loss this month - 6lb
Total loss since starting - 32lb

NerrSnerr · 21/10/2020 09:03

Morning all, for the first time in a week I was good yesterday and had calories to spare. I plan the same today. I have a 'total body workout' class later- I did it last week and it killed my quads but it's got to do me good. I am 2lbs up from one week ago but that's to be expected as I ate absolutely everything. I am doing well on my exercise and I am feeling stronger.

Well done on all the losses. Great to see so many great results.

Forresttheout · 21/10/2020 09:49

5 days of working away and being fed endless amounts of fizzy drinks has done some damage and i'm now back to 73kg which is more than at the start of this month. Very annoying but I live in a developing country where it would be incredibly rude to turn down food and drink and people love to give it as a thanks sadly usually its coca cola and some form of fried bread type snack offered. Time to be impeccably good this week and hope I can at least get back down to my starting point.

On the talk of scales I usually weigh in roughly the same patch of floor but I moved them around it varies the weight by up to 5kg which isn't great. Means I could actually be 5kg heavier than I am but as long as the number is going down its ok if its not hugely accurate.

Onesmallstep67 · 21/10/2020 10:54

Another lb gone this morning. 4.5lbs in 8 days so clearly water weight and an adjustment to stopping stuffing my face with tons of extra calories. But still a great motivator to keep going so that is what I shall try to do. I sometimes struggle with drinking lots of water as I need the loo so often as a consequence. I do seem to be wanting more hot drinks though, maybe as a bit of a substitute for food. Doing okay so far so not going to overanalyse.

Knittingnanny · 21/10/2020 11:32

Forest, that’s exactly what is happening with my scales! The digital ones are worse for variation than the analogue.

Angrymum5 · 22/10/2020 08:16

Morning everyone!!

This morning I weighed my self and I was pleased to find that I dropped 2lbs!! My target for this month woohoo!
For lunch I’m planning beef and bean fajitas Grin with pear crumble!
Dinner will be chicken curry and rice (my favourite dish) as a treat! Saturday I think is not going to be a good day as me and DD (11) are having KFC. How’s your day guys?

Angrymum5 · 22/10/2020 08:17

Also, I’m doing Chloe Tings Summer Shred 2020! ( this morning was a hard workout Blush )

Shedtheload · 22/10/2020 08:32

Ooh congratulations @Angrymum5 that’s great progress. I have never done a Chloe Ting workout - I’m too scared. They’re meant to be really effective though.

MirandaWest · 22/10/2020 08:45

I've started doing Chloe Ting workouts - got about 2 weeks through getting a smaller tummy but something always seems to get in the way of me completing them Blush. Will try again at some point...

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/10/2020 10:01

Congratulations @Angrymum5, great news.
Inspired by everyone on here exercising I did T25 abs last night. I’m thinking 2-3 times a week for a 25 minute workout to tone up. Is that enough or do you think I ought to do more? Currently my only exercise is walking, between 5 and 10 miles a day according to my Apple Watch.

Ardagusdubh · 22/10/2020 10:42

Lost my weekend pounds plus another half- quickly on, quickly off really is true! 2.5 down this month, not great but as long as I'm heading in the right direction I'm happy. Ran 4km this morning, struggled with my breathing though so it felt pretty horrible, I just couldn't seem to get proper breaths for the last 2km. Disappointed I didn't manage 5km this time but I still ran!
Went to m&s last night and bought double choc yumnuts (plus a frankencolin) so l'm looking forward to trying half of one later. Hope they're worth the calories!

Forresttheout · 22/10/2020 16:28

The chloe ting work outs are bloody hard! I quite enjoy them though and try to do 1/2 a week. I also enjoy blogilates which is slower and more strength focused but definitely work. Recently got a bit out the habit of them as in July/August I was doing them 5 days a week.
Ate pretty well today, fasted until 12 then had some fruit to keep me going until lunch at 1.30 which was veg and a little cous cous. Treat of a cookie in late afternoon but did couch to 5k and some resistance band work this evening. Dinner will be chicken stir fry.
I haven't been loosing much weight at all but feeling healthier which is positive
