Evening all!

Welcome to the lose 7lbs per month thread for spooky October! My second favourite time of the year! Big coats, snuggly scarves, pumpkins, ghosties and toffee apples!

Link to previous thread is here The September 7lb per month challenge! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4013012-the-september-7lb-per-month-challenge

I only lost 3lbs last month (booooooo) but have really upped the exercise in the last couple of days so hopeful I will start seeing proper losses again.

All are welcome, whatever programme or diet you are following. We just stick together and raise each other up which has worked so far and I've seen some amazing results from you lovely regulars :)

See you in the morning ready for first weigh in!!

Welcome @Angrymum5 and it’s great that you’re starting now. A few months down the line, you’ll be glad you started now rather than wait til the beginning of next month. 2 lb loss is definitely doable, especially at the beginning of your journey and it all adds up.

Shedtheload · 18/10/2020 10:01

Oh and @cricketmum84 that is awesome progress! Well done. Sounds like you will def hit target this month.

Angrymum5 · 18/10/2020 10:02

Thanks! @ShedtheLoad!

DownUdderer · 18/10/2020 10:19

This weekend I've been craving chocolate or ice cream. I've not succumbed to the cravings, but they've just been on my mind constantly! Daft isn't it. I've told myself I can have some when I lose another 4lb.

cricketmum84 · 18/10/2020 11:30

Morning all :) just having an hour of chill out time before I start cleaning the kitchen and prepping for dinner. I'm thinking roasted butternut squash, peppers, onions and broccoli with a couple of Richmond meat free sausages.

I was really tempted by crisps last night but managed to avoid them! I think tracking in ww is really helping as I can see I don't have enough points left to indulge whereas when I wasn't tracking I wouldn't have that reminder of where I am for the day. I'm also really rubbish at eating chocolate (never used to be mind!) the bag of 7 posh chocs my sister bought me 2 weeks ago still has 4 left in the bag as I just nibble on one when I get a sweet craving.

Had another little victory moment this morning when I ordered pumpkin spice lattes for the girls and didn't order myself one. They are so high in points!!

Well done for getting started @Angrymum5 I'm sure you can do 2lbs by the end of the month :)

Wow @cricketmum84 you have a lot of self control! DH bought some chocolate for me and what did I do, I scoffed it all! Oh no! I’m trying to eat a little healthier today but we going to the park which will be hard!

Angrymum5 · 18/10/2020 12:38

I was thinking about WW but I’m not sure would you recommend @cricketmum84

cricketmum84 · 18/10/2020 12:40

@Angrymum5 it's probably more that I'm just so off sweet stuff at the moment. DH brought home a twin pack of my all time favourite dessert - tiramisu. Mine sat in the fridge until it went off as I just couldn't face it. I still have half a box of vegan hotel chocolat penguins from last christmas...

Now put a pack of warm Greggs vegan rolls or a plate of Red Leicester cubes in front of me and that's another story completely!!! Pastry and cheese are my downfall.

Well done on the losses guys! Its so great to hear.
I put a pound on so in three weeks I've lost 1chuffing pound! I start the week great then by Thursday it's all gone to pot.
I started running with my ds this weekend and he's agreed to do a mile with me every day and to make me go no matter what I say lol. I used to run 10ks quite frequently up until last year but a mile literally kills me now. I think I'll track on food on My Fitness pal too, I really want a few pounds off this week. I love this thread.

cricketmum84 · 18/10/2020 12:42

Yep would totally recommend. You've got different plans to choose from now so you can choose what suits you. I find the points system keeps me on track. I've been a member since December 2018 and almost lost 9 stone now.

If you do decide to join you can get a free month with my referral code... disclaimer - I get a free month too lol

Thanks @cricketmum84
I’ll try it out! ( Enjoy your free month!)

TheGhostofGlumy · 18/10/2020 13:33

75.6kg today, so yesterday was hopefully just a bad day for water retention or something.

cricketmum84 · 18/10/2020 14:14

Ooh thankyou @Angrymum5! Have you decided which plan to follow yet?

Angrymum5 · 18/10/2020 14:29

@cricketmum84 I got put into the green group! Not sure what that means though I have definitely already passed my allocated points with my chocolate bars Confused

Silvertogold · 18/10/2020 21:15

Hi, I wondered if I might join in? I'm getting married next year and I can't bare the way I look being the weight I am (a good 17 stone 11!!!)
I am a grazer which means I have very little for main meals but I will then pick at bits throughout the day (normally chocolate etc!)
I really struggle with motivation. I lost a stone at the beginning of June but am just starting to put it all back on again!
Please may I join and have a good kick up the arse to get me going again!

Angrymum5 · 18/10/2020 21:22

It would be lovely to have you here!!

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/10/2020 23:54

@Silvertogold welcome! I’d suggest logging calories on your snacks (I’m too lazy for an app so use my phone calculator). It makes you think about whether they’re worth the “price” (calories). Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

DownUdderer · 19/10/2020 03:23

I find 16:8 intermittent fasting good for cutting down in snacks in the evening, that used to be my weakness.

I've walked more than 10 thousand steps today, so that's good. I managed about 8 thousand yesterday.

I had an extra long fast this morning because I forgot to pick up my yogurt as I was heading out the door. I bought some sashimi at 11:00 and had that. Yum! My favorite.

Ardagusdubh · 19/10/2020 08:35

Just weighed myself... 3lbs up 🙈 too many treats over the weekend and some stress eating/not sleeping (have a hospital appointment today that I'm quite worried about) but one important aspect is that I get to be a healthy weight! Fingers crossed all is well and I can settle back in to good and healthy habits 🤞

cricketmum84 · 19/10/2020 08:45

My scales are broken :( they weighed me this morning at 10lbs lighter than Saturday lol so I'm thinking I need to replace the batteries. I've got daily weighing withdrawals already!

Fruit and veg delivery day today which always makes me happy :)

Welcome @Silvertogold I agree that tracking is the best way forward. I don't grab the snack if I know I don't have the points for it!

Onesmallstep67 · 19/10/2020 11:06

@Ardagusdubh, hope your appointment goes well. The anticipation is often worse than the real thing.
I have had a reasonable weekend food wise. My difficult time is definitely evenings when I want to eat even when I am not hungry. Need to find some diversions! Hoping to drop 2 more lbs before the end of the month.

Howmanysleepsnow · 19/10/2020 20:29

Checking in to confess. I’ve secretly eaten eaten chocolate twice today (DH is on a diet and it was mean to do it in front of him, plus the kids would’ve wanted some if they knew). I’m feeling inexplicably low, and thought it might help but instead I just feel guilty and inexplicably low Hmm

Ardagusdubh · 19/10/2020 21:40

Thanks @Onesmallstep67 no results for 4 weeks but trying to put it out of my head for now. Ate the last of the cheesecake Blush I made yesterday and definitely getting back on the wagon tomorrow. Going to make a big pot of tomato, red onion and puy lentil soup to keep me going for a few healthy lunches.
@Howmanysleepsnow start again tomorrow with me!

Howmanysleepsnow · 19/10/2020 21:45

@Ardagusdubh I’m in!

Knittingnanny · 19/10/2020 22:34

Can I ask a few questions about weighing scales please? I have analogue ones and digital. They both weigh me different but not consistently if you see what I mean. Do you put the scales in the same place to weigh each time? Move them around and when they vary take the average?
