So I’m fed up of being fat, and it’s time to take action.
Lately my skin has been a mess and periods have stopped, I’ve had numerous tests and it looks like obesity is the cause 😩.
I am so embarrassed but fuck it.
I am currently 30, 5’4 and weigh 18 stone.
I’d like to get down to 10 stone eventually but even a stone or two would motivate me.
As of tomorrow no more shit!

Would anyone like to join?
Wether you have a lot (like me!) or a little to lose!

How has everyone managed back to work and planning for the weekend?

I went to Pret for lunch yesterday as I was out and made a good choice at under 300 cals but since I’m now studying and mostly at home thought I’d treat myself to a coffee, dried mango and a packet of crisps 700 cals later! I had soup for dinner though so stayed broadly on track.

We have a massive rice dish for dinner tonight but I’m going for portion control with this as it’s so tasty.

I passed by the scales and I’m in the next stone bracket but haven’t logged the weight as I have an arbitrary date of 7 Sept in mind for weigh in.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 05/09/2020 16:21

I haven't weighed but I'm hoping for a loss.

I've taken boiled eggs, oat cakes and carrot sticks to work every day. Boring, but filling.

I'm trying to drink lots of water but I can see that decreasing as getting to the toilet during the day can be an issue!

This weekend I'm doing roast chicken - but with boiled potatoes and vegetables rather than the usual roast accompaniments.

Submariner · 05/09/2020 17:55

I have been good all week and pretty pleased with how it's going. I think I was a little bit over last night and think I'll be over again today, but only on healthy stuff (plus wine...) and I have come out quite a few days this week on 1200 cals when my goal is 1500 cals.

Just going to enjoy today and not let it become an excuse to binge.

Submariner · 06/09/2020 18:34

How are we all doing? I like setting my goals on Sunday. I've been broadly happy with how much I've stuck to them this week. The real revelation for me has been setting a time to start and stop eating. I find it relatively easy to hold off outside of those times (only caved once and ate something that was around 100 cal) and find that I don't really have time to be hungry for snacks within my eating window. However, I have snacked a fair bit on my 3 alcohol days - but still less than I would have.

Goals for this week: Keep up with 3 gym sessions a week, eat between 10 and 7, have 5 alcohol free days, keep to my MFP calories, have a walk every day.

Anyone else setting goals this week?

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 06/09/2020 19:34

Good plan. That sounds achievable whilst still allowing room for things you want/like.

My walking is going well and I’ve signed up to 100 miles in Sept so keep that going and I’ve bought some 1kg hand weights so will sometimes walk with them plus incorporate a small weights workout on the days I can’t go for a proper walk - looking like two days this week.

My main goal though is going to be reducing coffee. I’ve crept back to 2 cups, the second being a skinny cappuccino somewhere so lots of calories.

Not big goals this week but little habits that hopefully add up to make a difference.

I officially weigh in tomorrow.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 06/09/2020 19:47

I like the idea of goals for the week.

I've broadly planned our meals for the week. Ideally I'd like to go for a walk every evening but I am a fair weather walker and the forecast is variable so I'll consider it a win if I manage 3/5 days during the working week.

I'm having hot water as my main drink and avoiding snacks.
I'm alcohol free until October half term.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 07/09/2020 07:47

Official weigh in.

Start weight in July: 15 stone
August weigh: 14.7
Today: 13.12

I knew I’d got to 14 a while a ago as I couldn’t resist getting on the scales so a 2lb loss over a couple of weeks maybe.

I’m going to opt for fortnightly now as monthly is too long.

Submariner · 07/09/2020 10:23

That's amazing progress Mercedes!!

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 07/09/2020 10:42

I'm just rpretty delighted it starts with a 13!

catchingzzzeds · 07/09/2020 20:05

@MercedesDeMonteChristo that's fantastic! Well done!

I've lost my first stone so I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself too.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 07/09/2020 21:15

@catchingzzzeds great news. Well done. I’m feeling really motivated.

Bromley4ever · 09/09/2020 19:35

I have also fallen off the wagon and it's because I'm feeling sorry for myself because it's Autumn of all things, I feel a bit like when I was trying to give up smoking in my 20s and kept coming up with excuses not to start (I did it in the end). I need a bit of a psychological kick start I feel. I may take myself to NHS for a middle aged health check which will certainly put the frighteners on me if they have not been stopped due to Covid. Hope everyone else is doing better than me.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 09/09/2020 20:34

@Bromley4ever is there one small change you can make this week so it doesn’t feel like such a big deal?

Bromley4ever · 10/09/2020 08:51

Thanks @MercedesDeMonteChristo. Well as I'm not working I'm doing both school pickups on foot so my step count is certainly up! The only problem is that the kids lunch snacks are also back in the cupboard so I have had a couple of snack attacks. Today I'll replace that with an apple and/or cup of tea, let you know how it goes, also I need to up my water and be more mindful of what I am eating.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 10/09/2020 09:40

I’ve just bought a load of Walkers crisps on offer and they are my nemesis because I cannot just eat one so I feel your pain. I’m going to tell myself that if I have enough cals I can have a pack but only one. That is my challenge to myself this weekend.

I’ve also found that I’m now getting hungry mid morning (maybe cycle based) but have found a cup of peppermint tea often satisfies so perhaps I wasn’t hungry or if I still need something I’m much more likely to go for a boiled egg after the tea than choc or whatever I might have picked otherwise.

I read, was it here, or maybe elsewhere that diet should be 80% good stuff and 20% treat though that might be post weight loss.

Minnie123456 · 12/09/2020 09:33

well done to everyone that lost.
Somehow i've managed to loose a lb, actually have no clue how. Have been stressed these last few weeks and find myself heading to the cupboards and fridge, need to find a way to distract myself from food.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 12/09/2020 11:31

DH and I have lost 7lbs each in a month.

I’m not sure why but I feel quite despondent today, probably because despite the half a stone loss I still feel uncomfortable and constantly aware of my stomach whatever o wear.

I guess I have to try and channel this into a determination to lose more.

Alicatz66 · 12/09/2020 11:38

Can I join please .. I only have about 17lb to lose .. it has crept on over the past year as I've had a hysterectomy and lockdown.. I'm going to count calories on Nutracheck , do my 10,000 steps at least and try to do some short workouts from YouTube .. only 10 mins a day ! I'm binning off the wine and have signed up for MacMillan dry October .. just back from holiday so will weigh in tomorrow.. I did 23,000 steps one day on holiday and even the lowest day was 15,000 but many many chips were eaten !

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 12/09/2020 13:36

Welcome, welcome.

I’m having a tough time because of period and I am just ravenous and craving salty snacks.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 13/09/2020 09:21

After a good few days of absolutely atrocious eating (two takeaways yesterday amongst all the choc and crisps) and less walking than I would have liked today is day 1 again.

My goal this week is simply to stick to my 1200 cals for 5 days allowing 2 days for around 1500.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 13/09/2020 17:06

My goal is to stay within my calories - 1400 but I aim for 1200 but don’t beat myself up if I end up at 1400

I’m also going to try and go for a walk on at least three workday evenings.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 15/09/2020 18:52

How are we all doing?

I’ve kept to 1200 for the last 3 days. Not been hungry either. The only thing is I am basically eating things I 100% know the calories of, so I have spinach and kale
Falafel for dinner for example, and am not eating the food I am cooking which seems like a silly habit, but hopefully it’s training me on portion control.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 15/09/2020 21:12

I'm managing to keep to between 1200 and 1300

Lunches have been a struggle as due to all the additional COVID measures I'm eating whilst supervising a class and only get a 15 minute break which I need to go to the loo and set up my next lesson. I've been having overnight oats with stewed apple which has been quite filling, quick and easy to eat and doesn't need heating!

Submariner · 16/09/2020 06:47

Hi all, I've been having phone problems so keep coming on to check in and getting chucked out!

Sounds like it's going well for you all! This week I am eating between 10.30/11 and 6.30/7 but not being too strict on either end. My daily walks and 3x gym a week are curtailed as we are waiting for tests in our house. I need to get organised and do some YouTube workouts but work is busy and back to juggling with homeschooling.

Good news is the scales are going down. I have nearly lost 8lbs since my heaviest. Just 2lbs to go until I hit the next stone marker.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 16/09/2020 18:44

@RuudGullitOnAShed that sounds like a nightmare but amazing prep there to keep on track.

@Submariner consistent and steady is the way to keep it off I reckon. Well done.

I weighed randomly this morning and have another 6lbs off. Delighted with this but I have religiously been sticking to 1200 cals. I’m going to try and be as strict as I can until I hit my next stone marker then I will be a bit more flexible between 1200-1500.

I’m avoiding public transport where I can so I walked to the library I was working from and home today and clocked up 10 miles so I did not measure the butter or the jam that I had on the toast I decided on for dinner. DH laughed at me and called me a rebel!
