So I’m fed up of being fat, and it’s time to take action.
Lately my skin has been a mess and periods have stopped, I’ve had numerous tests and it looks like obesity is the cause 😩.
I am so embarrassed but fuck it.
I am currently 30, 5’4 and weigh 18 stone.
I’d like to get down to 10 stone eventually but even a stone or two would motivate me.
As of tomorrow no more shit!

Would anyone like to join?
Wether you have a lot (like me!) or a little to lose!

How's everyone doing?
I'm staying under my calories - even when tempted. I'm trying to be organised and have Tesco deliveries organised for the next month. Lots of fish and veg.
It's taken a month but the smaller portions are now leaving me feeling full enough.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 17/09/2020 20:23

I’ve had a cheat day today where I’ve eaten whatever I wanted. I’m still confident it’s under 1700 cals. Back to it properly tomorrow.

I’ve stuck to 1200 for the rest of the week and have done a lot of walking. I really want to hit a 2 stone loss by beginning of October. I have 8lb to go then 4.7 stone to go until final goal.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 19/09/2020 12:41

Good luck for the weekend.

I have jerk chicken and rice and peas tonight so today is definitely a 1500 day. I’m just trying to avoid snacks today so have had my granola, lunch is scrambled egg then dinner.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 19/09/2020 20:10

I made a decidedly disappointing ratatouille tonight - normally I'd have then eaten loads of other stuff to make up for the fact that it wasn't nice.
Instead I ate the ratatouille and the small bowl of ice cream that was all part of the plan.

I feel vaguely unsatisfied in terms of food but quite smug in terms of self control.

Work has been so busy that I haven't managed to post for a while but it sounds like you're all doing great.
I had my first week of no losses but then dropped 4lbs the following week. I'm now 3lbs off being 12 stone something and I'm really excited about reaching that goal. I'm still on 1200 calories a day, I find it easier if I don't eat until 10/11am.
I'm 19lbs down now Smile

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 20/09/2020 17:21

Fantastic. That is a great loss.

I’m loosely allowing myself a couple of days where I am freer with the counting but ensuring 5 days of every week is 1200. I’m not overeating on the non count days as the amount I need to feel satisfied has decreased and one biscuit is sweet compared to the whole pack.

Submariner · 21/09/2020 20:05

Wow! Loving all the progress! I agree Mercedes, I am pretty much writing off weekends for calorie counting at the moment, but they're not having too big an impact, and my capacity for rubbish has gone down.

I'm back at the gym, back on the fasting. I have now definitely settled in to 10.30-6.30/7 which is suiting me well. 3 workouts a week, 2 alcohol days a week and a walk a day. I may add some yoga one day a week as my muscles feel like they need a good stretch from all that strength work.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 23/09/2020 19:25

I've lost 13lb in total (started Aug 15th so that's six and a half weeks)

Work is manic at the moment so I'm really pleased that I haven't just slumped and started eating rubbish.

Submariner · 24/09/2020 06:23

That's fantastic Ruud! And great consistency.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 24/09/2020 07:11

That’s fantastic. 1 more lb and you will have your first stone off.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 24/09/2020 21:30

Grin I'm very excited about that. It's certainly helping me to stay on track.

I'd promised myself some kind of reward when I hit a stone loss so I'm now trying to decide what that should be.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 25/09/2020 16:27

I’ve been being strict on my count the last few days as I’ve put a 1lb on and know how it happened.

But - and I would appreciate some advice, today I have managed my meals granola, beans on toast and have a homemade soup. The cals came in pretty low so I’ve also had 3 chocolate snacks!

I think I need to be eating more calories in proper food but seem to scrimp (eat eggs) so I can eat chocolate. Any ideas of addressing this ridiculous mindset?

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 25/09/2020 16:51

i.e. 400 cals today have come from tea, coffee and snacks with meals at 600 collectively.

I've had to stop buying any chocolate so there is none in the house.

It probably helps that we are very rural and a 20 minute drive to get some seems ridiculous. I'm sure if I was in a city/town and could pop to a shop it would be harder

In work I don't have time to nip out although there is often chocolate in the staff room but so far I have managed to resist temptation.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 25/09/2020 20:51

I think just not having it in the house must be the answer. I just can’t control myself so whilst I’ll still lose because of calorie deficit I know it’s not healthy or good for me.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 25/09/2020 21:28

It's the only thing that works for DH and I.
If it is there we eat it and justify it to ourselves one way or another.

Submariner · 26/09/2020 08:55

Mercedes, I think in some ways it may be a bit of a cycle. You're super careful with your meals which means you're hungry and then you want the snacks and you see that you have spare calories.

I have had a good run of not snacking excessively and what works for me is planning 3 nice meals that I really enjoy. My breakfast is sometimes the largest thing I eat calories wise but I love having all the nut butters, seeds etc that make it feel luxurious. I've also been trying to up my protein because it keeps me full. Then I try to get snacks in that I like but have some nutrition to them like roasted beans rather than crisps. I've found the 16:8 method really helpful too because I just have no time to fit in loads of snacks.

Now I'll get off my preachy high horse and say that I'm having a blowout weekend this week with TWO restaurant meals out. You wait 6 months for a night out and two come along at once... Grin

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 26/09/2020 09:13

@Submariner not preachy at all, exactly what I need to be honest. In my case I’m not actually always even hungry as my meals are quite protein heavy (I refer you back to the eggs) but as you say I see I have the calories and think ‘oh well, i can’.

I think I’m drinking less water too which seemed to really help at the beginning.

I’m going to try to stick to my 3 meals plus a cup of tea and grapes for snacking. I’m excited by today’s food actually so I’m going to share.

Granola etc as usual
Beef plov with chick peas (one of my favourite meals - I’ve been cooking my beef since last night) will eat from a bowl (I prefer that anyway with rice dishes) so I don’t over eat and served with natural yoghurt and a plate of tomatoes - bliss

It’s going to be a late lunch today and its very filling but if I get peckish for dinner I made a batch of bulgur and red lentil soup yesterday which is just 212 cals per portion and so filling and tasty.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 27/09/2020 16:18

I’ve just been out and bought myself some long running leggings and a long sleeved underlayer for walking.

My joy though is purchasing a bumbag that has two water bottles and a pocket big enough for my kindle (in case I want to sit and read and currently take a massive rucksack to hold just the Kindle).

I will probably appear slightly ridiculous walking with water etc but I usually carry my bottle and it means I can’t use the weights that I bought for walking.

Whilst I was there buying cheap sports direct stuff I have decided that I am going to treat myself to Lulu Lemon or Sweaty Betty gym gear when I get to my goal.

I have gone down a bit from a size 20 to an 18 and today bought size 16 leggings etc and they fit (albeit a bit tighter than I’d like) but I reckon another stone and they will be perfect.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 27/09/2020 18:17

You sounds really motivated @MercedesDeMonteChristo and planning to buy something nice for yourself sounds like a great plan.
I’ve decided that when I lose and other 8lbs (so will have lost a stone and a half) I can buy a dress that I’ve had my eye on from Nomads.

I haven’t managed much walking this weekend as I’ve bruised my foot but I have meal planned and batch cooked so the week ahead is sorted.

Annoyingly DH who hasn’t been sticking rigidly to the diet plan but had been doing some serious snacking in between meals has lost weight!

Submariner · 27/09/2020 18:28

Oh nice goals ladies! I love Lululemon, Sweaty Betty and Nomads. (Too look at - never bought anything!!) You've inspired me - when I get down into the next stone bracket I will buy myself something lovely to wear. Can't decide if I would go for leggings or a nice dress though...

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 27/09/2020 18:39

A nice dress is definitely a better option! I find myself when I am out walking checking out everyone's leggings and I want to long term perhaps take up some other exercise alongside walking but for the moment I now have everything I need to keep walking as the weather gets wetter and duller.

I've got two soups, perhaps 3/4 portions that I made so that will be lunch everyday and I have meal planned the week though evening meal I find hard to calorie count so am just ploughing on with eating from a bowl and having a smaller portion with more of the protein/veg/salad.

Today I have hit my walking goal for the month so should be due another medal and top in the post in the next few days.

My next weigh in is 7 Oct (slightly random but I started on 7 July) and I would like to hit 13 stone which will be 2 stone lighter.

My goal for this week though as per Submariner's Sunday goal setting is to eat more fruit and veg and less sugary snacks. I've noticed I am barely eating any fruit and veg.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 02/10/2020 19:30

How's everyone doing?

I've lost 2.8lb bringing my loss to a total of 15.8 which is great because I've broken the stone barrier.

My next milestone will be when I lose another 6lb as that will take me to 11 stone 13lb and away from the 12 stone + bracket.

Today was hard as there was lots of cake around in work and I didn't have a particularly nice lunch. I nearly succumbed but reminded myself of how much I want to wear all of my 'thin' clothes and how miserable I felt during the Summer when I was a stone heavier.

We're going out tomorrow so I don't anticipate being under calories but I have been every other day this week so it should even out.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 02/10/2020 19:58

I'm not officially weighing until 7th. I think it is going ok though. I've mostly been under on cals. I haven't done as much walking, though my Sept medal arrived which has galvanised me so I went out in the pouring rain today for a walk.

I've been investigating Les Mills and am going to sign up for the trial on Monday and see how I get on. I think I need more than the walking .

This weekend's dinners are likely to be quite calorie heavy - meatballs and aubergines tomorrow with bulgur and a roast on Sunday. I can be good with the meatballs but do just want to eat my roast so fruit and eggs for the rest of the weekend Grin

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 02/10/2020 19:58

Well done on the loss, that is fantastic.
