Anyone want to join to lose up to a stone?

BroodyBridget · 04/07/2020 09:39

I have 10-14lbs to lose to start feeling comfortable in myself again. I'm 5' 6.

9 stone is my fighting weight but I'm at least 10 stone now, and I know it's going to continue creeping up.

I look at threads already going on here but when lots of people are already on I feel like I get lost on it Grin

So I'm aiming to start Monday, not sure what plan I'll be following yet, but will have to eat less and exercise more as I've noticed my thighs are rubbing a little and got some fat on my back etc.

I'm doing 16:8 as I find that mostly quite achievable. Mostly 1pm til 9pm. I am not counting calories but am trying to make more sensible choices.

My main issue is that I eat too fast and then feel overfull. I don't know why I do this and it keeps happening. You would think I would have learnt by now! I recently came off anti depressants that caused a lot of cravings and caused a lot of my weight gain and while on them, I just couldn't lose weight. Since coming off them, my cravings have pretty much stopped and I can't eat as much as I could. Which is good. But therefore I need to eat slower so I can notice when I am full and stop eating! Instead of feeling overfull and sick!

Egghead68 · 08/07/2020 12:51

Had my 2000 calories for the day so need to stop eating!
So far I have had a run of several days of not overeating which is good progress for me. I’m feeling more in control. I’m going to try to stick to 2000 calories to the end of the week before starting to cut down. I’m recovering from long-tail Covid and shielding so my exercise opportunities are limited but I am doing what my energy levels permit.

Egghead68 · 08/07/2020 12:54

@TheNewLook one pound weight loss in a week is good!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 08/07/2020 13:44

A bit of a foody day yesterday, with some yoga but not many steps.

Today has been better, though I have been in meetings all morning so only done 1000 steps so far. Lots more fruit and veg and a run planned for later though.

Mustardpot · 08/07/2020 14:25

Hi everyone, had wine again last night which led to some bread and humous. This morning I moved all our wine out of the house and into the garage, it’s been derailing DH and I. Luckily he wants to change the habit too so we are in this together. Lots of spicy tomato juice and Schloer in the fridge instead. We are also going to read this evening rather than hit the sofa/tv like we usually do. Strict day planned food wise today.

B Coffee
L 2 scrambled eggs in butter
D roast cauliflower and whatever other veg is around

Hope everyone has a good day.

kirstinm · 08/07/2020 18:35

Good walk again today but am finding 1200 calories difficult...I've now had all my food for today and am over by about 120 according to MFP. Annoyed as I had two custard creams after dinner which I could have skipped.

Swearwolf · 08/07/2020 19:40

Oh, I've had a rough day at work, and am having a gin. Failure! Otherwise my eating has been pretty good today. We're having an incredibly healthy dinner - rice, bamboo and pak Choi, and a tuna steak. And I haven't snacked at all! On balance, I'm not going to beat myself up about the gin.

Egghead68 · 09/07/2020 06:06

Planning has helped me in the past so here’s my plan for today’s trying not to overeat plan (will probably be eaten in a non-traditional order):

Tarka Dahl 400 cals
Rice 400 cals
Salad 50 cals
Berries 50 cals
Trifle 250 cals
Cheese straw 50 cals
30ml gin 100 cals

Then if resolve weakens
Sweet potato fries 350
Half small avocado 100
Small piece feta 150

OooErrThor · 09/07/2020 06:37

Good morning everyone, it was a good day for me yesterday, no alcohol, no mindless snacking and a long walk at lunchtime plus a run after work. My mindset is positive so that's a good start.

I've started logging all my food on my FitBit and yesterday I had a 900 calorie deficit, it really does focus your mind when you log everything.

Enjoy your Thursday's!

Swearwolf · 09/07/2020 07:18

900 calories @OooErrThor ! I can never manage to eat at even a 400 deficit (trying to stick to 1200 a day but it's really hard).

My kids are in keyworker school mon-wed, and I've found if I leave breakfast until after the school run I am less likely to snack for the rest of the day and not so ravenous at lunchtime that I eat way too much. So I'm trying to hold off on breakfast today until 9.30 too. Am starving already though!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 09/07/2020 09:22

@Egghead68 are you a veggie? Your food plan sound delicious. Except for the gin!

I have been eating prunes for the last few days and it has done wonders for my digestion. I feel better and lighter and less bloated and all that - so pleased.

Today am seeing a friend who bakes amazing cakes. And has a coffee machine. So I have had my prunes and two cups of tea in preparation.

Will have a chicken salad for lunch, and probably eggs for tea. Then a walk with a friend of about 10k. Despite the rain.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 09/07/2020 09:25

@Swearwolf I can only manage a deficit of 400-600. If I go for a run I eat more as a treat. @OooErrThor I wish I could get to 900.

kirstinm · 09/07/2020 10:28

@Swearwolf hope you enjoyed your gin! I don’t even think it’s that bad for you is it? Calorie wise, I mean? I’m also struggling a bit with the 1200 calories.

@OooErrThor 900 calorie deficit is amazing, well done!

I’m sat having my flask of coffee half way round my walk. Planning a second walk today as my parent has a meeting about going back to work so I’m going to walk to town with him. I’m really anxious about him going back to be honest so thinking today might be a bit of a funny day.

I hope you all have a good day. Going to try and stay under my calories.

Mustardpot · 09/07/2020 10:55

Morning everyone, good day for me yesterday food wise. Took me 2 hours to go to sleep and woke up several times during the night, body adjusting to no alcohol! I am not exercising, just not feeling it.

B Coffee
L 2 sausages
D Veg tray bake

Egghead68 · 09/07/2020 11:09

@TheBitchOfTheVicar yes I am veggie. Glad you like my plan- it’s just what’s left in my fridge! Prunes sound like a good idea - very filling (better soaked in Armagnac with vanilla custard though!) I have a big bag and will try to start eating a few a day.

Egghead68 · 09/07/2020 21:50

Ok more or less stuck to plan. Tomorrow’s plan:
Cauliflower cheese 400
Crispy potatoes 400
Roasted veg 300
Figs 200
Trifle 250
Raspberries 50

OooErrThor · 10/07/2020 08:02

Good morning everyone

Ok, so as per earlier instructions I feel slimmer so I've weighed myself and since Monday I've lost 2lbs, go me!

Upping the exercise has helped no end and @Egghead68 idea to have a plan of what to eat has helped too.

Thank you for the motivation, I'm so determined to do this. I'm thinking of something to do once I've achieved my goal, to give me a bit of an extra kick.

Swearwolf · 10/07/2020 08:42

Morning everyone! I'm still feeling pretty good, usually I've lost motivation by now. I haven't been perfect, but I have mostly avoided snacking and made decent choices.

Now that the weather is looking up again, and my new inner tube has arrived, I can do a bit more exercise. I'm trying to go out for a bike ride or a run 2-3 times a week. I'm not great at either of those, but combined with eating less I think it will be helpful. And so good for my mood!

kirstinm · 10/07/2020 10:23

Morning all! I’m feeling really motivated too, hoping I can keep it up. Managed over 18,000 steps yesterday and was under calories. Almost caved and had a big bit of buttered baguette at 9pm - it was in my hand and everything! But at the last moment I gave it to my boyfriend and I didn’t have any! I felt so good afterwards. He ate the whole baguette in the end and we looked it up and it was over 1200 calories, crazy!

Halfway round my walk at the moment and going to try to fit a little work out in later too. My parents are coming tomorrow and my dad wants papa johns pizza in the garden, which I think I’m going to have if I can be really good the rest of the week, although I am considering ordering without cheese - would the difference in calories be worth it? I don’t eat meat so it would be a veggie and I would still enjoy it but maybe not quite as much. Hmmmm.

Have a good day all!

Mustardpot · 10/07/2020 10:40

Morning, had a pretty good day yesterday, had a frozen prawn curry instead of veg tray bake (not enough veg), it was 500 kc so I should have been under 1,000 for the day.

Today is steak night for everyone else but roast veg for me as we had a grocery delivery.

2 days without alcohol done, unfortunately it has affected my sleep, went to bed at 10 pm and still awake at 1 am. I have a lavender pillow spray to try for tonight. I am going to have a sneaky weigh in and will report back. Keep going everyone.

Mustardpot · 10/07/2020 10:48

10st 2.5 lbs, I have lost 2.5 lbs since Monday. Really pleased. Would love to be in the 9s for Monday but that’s probably a bit optimistic.

OohErrThor well done!

kistinm I think I would just have it with cheese, a little fat is good and you will miss the flavour if it’s no cheese. Just be a little stricter the next day.

Egghead68 · 10/07/2020 11:00

@mustardpot you are doing amazingly. I am still focusing on not gaining at the moment.

@Kirstinm I’d have a small piece of pizza with cheese and lots of salad to bulk it out.

kirstinm · 10/07/2020 12:16

@mustardpot that's great, well done! The 9's is my ultimate goal, I think...not sure where about in them! I'm 11st 2 and I'm hoping to drop a stone fairly easily just getting back to moving normally and watching calories. I was sitting around 10stone ish pre lockdown naturally so to get beyond that I think will take more work and I'm not sure where I want to go with it if that makes sense? I think maybe 9 and a half would be my ideal goal but I'm not sure if it is achievable.

I think you guys are probably right about the pizza!

Chaosreigns123 · 10/07/2020 13:19

Can I join? I'm 5"5 and 10 stone. I really want want to be 9 stone, just so much better.

I lost a stone last year but it's so hard to shift the last stone. I eat ok most of the time but seem to have the odd splurge week which sabotages everything.

I've started exercising again, a bit of running and cycling.

Mustardpot · 10/07/2020 13:28

Thanks guys!

kirstinm it is difficult to work out what’s a realistic and maintainable goal. I want to get to 9st 7 lbs as the obvious huge fat will be much better and I was that pre lockdown. 9 st is a nice weight for me but then I was 8 stone for my 20s, 30s and into my late 40s stayed well under 9st so maybe I am being complacent. I am a small boned, zero muscle apple. Can’t imagine being in the 8s ever again.

I think the sensible thing to do is take it 7lbs at a time and see how it looks and feels. Honestly just not gaining is success at this point.
