I'm starting a new thread here as nobody has been posting on our old one(s) for a couple of days. Just wondering how everyone is doing (and if there are any new MNers out there who are also SW members--welcome!)
I've been a member since 15 June and am now just one teensy weensy pound away from my very first stone award. But at times it has been an uphill struggle so it's been great to share my journey with everyone here. Would love to hear from everyone else.

Hi everyone, I missed class this week because I had to get work done, so I am fantasising that next week I will have lost at least 2lbs! It took 16 wks to get my first stone off, so I know this one's likely to be even slower. Had mini binge on ice-cream this w/e because we had visitors & it was in fridge calling me...

Christie, don't worry honey. Your allowed to let your halo slip once in a while.

How are you doing, Kayleigh? Do you know why you got off track?

Hi Arabica. I'm ok. Still eating for England. Have no idea why I went off the rails. A mixture of winter coming (I started to feel really down) and the thing I can't explain. Whereby when I'm doing good I seem to want to sabotage myself. I'm sure a Psychiatrist would have a field day

hi, can i join in? not currently a 'member' of sw, but have been in past. had ds1 9 weks ago and want to loose weight b4 christmas. am going to go for it during november - telling myself its just one month, but am secretly hoping that i'll be so encouraged by my weigh ins that i'll keep going over the festive period. am about 2 stone over ideal weight, but any weight lose will make a welcome difference...

this is hysterical ja9...but can I just say I worked out who you were before I saw this thread. Found your mumsnet profile and it gives your town name. And no wonder I can't lose weight with you sending me huge delicious bars of chocolate - shame on you

Christie, yes will definitely be there thursday. Will you be bringing your halo or leaving it at home ?

Please tell me about sliming world, I have done WWatchers before and been quite successful, but really cant face it again. I need to lose about 10lbs and would be delighted if I could do this. I have got to the stage when I feel I am eating crap just for the sake of it and then feel bloated and dreadful afterwards. I have a wheat allergy, so is it possible to work this into SW. Please advise about Red, Green, Original, Syns etc., as I haven't got a clue.

Hi Assumpta. Basically, slimming world members follow a low-fat eating plan called 'Food Optimising' and every day you get to choose whether you want to eat Green (choices are higher in starchy carbs) or Original (choices are higher in protein). SW's USP is Free Foods. Basically that means on a Green day you can eat unlimited fruit and veg plus a range of other choices (which includes things like cans of baked beans)and on an Original one, you can have as much meat/fish as you like.
I think explaining how SW works is a bit complicated (although it isn't complicated to follow the eating plans, trust me!) so why don't you have a look at their website which you can also use to find your nearest class.

So if I start my day with porridge and milk for example do I then have to follow a green day. Does what you choose for breakfast determine your day. Also how do I find out how many sins are in each food?

Report
Arabica · 04/11/2004 13:19

Yes, what you have for breakfast might determine what colour day you have. But every day you are allowed some 'healthy extras' too and these include breakfast options. Not sure if porridge one of them. Can't stand the stuff! But the best thing you can do is have a good look at the website, or buy the magazine, honest.

Hi all. I'm one of the new girls. Great to see some Slimming World people on here. I too am a member and have to say that it is the best diet I have come across. I joined in May this year and have lost 1 stone 10 and a half pounds. I'll admit it's been tricky at times but I feel it's going really well. I have bad days too but going to group helps me to regain my willpower and make me realise that tomorrow is a new day and not to give up after one small hiccup. Keep going everyone sounds like you're doing just fine!

Ooooh yes!! BTW. I too am hooked on the Mullerlight apple and cinnamon yogs. Most scrummy. They almost take over the chocolate fix. Not quite though...
