I'm starting a new thread here as nobody has been posting on our old one(s) for a couple of days. Just wondering how everyone is doing (and if there are any new MNers out there who are also SW members--welcome!)
I've been a member since 15 June and am now just one teensy weensy pound away from my very first stone award. But at times it has been an uphill struggle so it's been great to share my journey with everyone here. Would love to hear from everyone else.

My dh was shopping and on the list was mullerlite, but he came back with mullerlite halo, are these syn free. They look delicious? Can I get a code for slimming world from anywhere other than a weekly meeting?

Arabica · 07/11/2004 22:30

Apparently, A, the passwords are different depending where you live. But I do happen to know that the halos are 4 syns each. Sparkler, thanks for kind words. I was more upset about the act of comfort eating than the syn value. Sometimes it's hard to stay out of the fridge. I've been ok today (syn free chips with quorn sausages) but I don't think I will have lost any more weight on Tuesday night.
More positively, I did try on a pair of size 14 trousers in New Look today (I go to all the best shops) and they were too big! Had to check label twice--last time I was in New Look I needed a 16. Watch out, size 12, here I come!

sparkler1 · 07/11/2004 22:32

I am pretty sure I bought the halos before and they weren't syn free. The code changes every week and consultants give them out each week at class. Not sure if there is anyway of doing it if you are not already a member. Good luck with the diet! I would definitely recommend joining a group though. The meetings are definitely helpful and make you more determined to lose weight.

sparkler1 · 07/11/2004 22:37

Wow - a aize 14 sounds dreamy to me. When I started SW in May I was in a size 20 creeping into a 22. Hence me starting the diet. I am now pleased to say that I am getting into a size 16 (without an elasticated waist!!) and it's fantastic. Not bad in six months.

sparkler1 · 07/11/2004 22:38

Oooooh I'm all excited now. Just imagine another six months time. I'll be in that bikini next summer!! Move over Baywatch!

assumpta · 08/11/2004 10:38

I thought it was too good to be true, but it was delicious. I will save it for my evening treat instead of a glass of wine, but I did buy some of the correct ones this morning. I hope I can stick to this diet.

sparkler1 · 08/11/2004 10:42

Wine or pudding? What a decision. Got my weigh in tonight. Wonder how the week has been. I think I have had a pretty good one - although with a few small hiccups. Already been to the shops to get my Monday night treat (always have one after my weigh in) a bag of Revels.

Arabica · 08/11/2004 12:36

Good luck for your weigh-in Sparkler, you've done so well--that's three dress sizes you've already dropped. I don't feel positive about my weigh-in. The takeaway I had on Friday has really stuck to my hips!

OP posts:
sparkler1 · 08/11/2004 17:29

Half an hour away from my weigh-in. Getting nervous now. Actually I feel quite good. Have had much worse weeks than this. Need to lose three and a half pounds to get 2 stone off. Wonder how much of it I have done. Promised myself that I would have a chinese takeaway after weigh in today as I turned it down the other day. Not sure if i should though.

sparkler1 · 08/11/2004 20:32

Lost a pound at weigh in tonight. Not as much as I'd hoped for but at least it's come off.

Arabica · 09/11/2004 16:56

You're doing brilliantly well Sparkler, the thing is not to concentrate so much on the pounds but the overall changes you've made to your lifestyle. Eventually (apparently) healthy eating becomes so natural that you don't have to think about it too much. I have weeks where I still eat compulsively but then again, I can't expect to change the habits of a lifetime in 6 months of SW membership. So even though I know I have put on weight this week I am going to try not to be too upset. Just hope it's not over 3lbs.

Thanks. Hic! Lifestyle hasn't changed all that much. Just had a night out with the girls - hic! Good night had by all - too much food, wine etc. Oh dear the scales will tell tomorrow. Never mind back on track in the morning. . Thanks for words words of encouragement, much needed.

Arabica · 10/11/2004 09:43

Only a pound back on. Getting really p*** of with consultant howeverevery week she moans about having some kind of ailment that means she can't talk to us much (then proceeds to drone on for hours in a v boring fashion). Last night was a taster session when we had all been asked to bring in something syn-free or low in syns to share with class. One member brought in chicken cooked in deep-fat fryer! Consultant explained how that wasn't exactly low in synsand then proceeded to eat TWO large pieces (plus several helpings of all the other low syn stuffwhich were all Green day things)No wonder Consultant is no way near her target. She says she hasn't time to attend a class herself, but I say, she better make timeor soon she won't be able to fit in the door!

Hi all. I'm going back to SW tomorrow night (Thursday) in a bid to shift all the post baby pounds. I've 'done' SW twice before, and both times did brilliantly, only to become complacent in thinking that I can do it alone and then finding the weight creeping back on again! I think a few things have changed since my last stint...flexible syns being one. How does that work?

Christie, maybe a change of meals would help. Try and have a different breakfast, lunch, dinner most days to what you have been having. I found i got stuck in a rut after a while with only a couple of breakfast choices, same old salads for lunch and same evening meals week in, week out.

It will shift, don't lose heart. You have done so well. And you look great.

sparkler1 · 10/11/2004 21:49

Well the diet isn't going at all well this week. Probably the worst week I have had since starting SW in May. Have picked at rubbish all day and have just had chinese takeaway. Don't really feel guilty. My body feels very sluggish though. Definitely back on tomorrow. I know I will be annoyed with myself on Monday at weigh in if the scales have moved upwards.

get weighed at lunchtime today Christie - will let you know.

Kayleigh · 11/11/2004 14:27

I lost 8lb in the first week on the other diet

Arabica · 11/11/2004 19:56

Hi everyone, commiserations Christie, and sparkle, but you just have to hang in there and keep believing it's going to come offlook at the big picture, at how well you've done so far, how many inches you've lost, etc, and don't concentrate so much at the week by week change on the scales. Someone a lot more inspiring than my consultant told me thatit was a woman who'd won the nationwide Woman of the Year title & you gotta respect what she says! Marmalade, flexible syns (that's another change, sins are now syns, think 'synergy') are how SW deal with days when you can't help but eat more than you normally would; the idea is that, instead of thinking one binge breaks the diet, you confine your overeating to one day by saying, I normally eat 10 syns a day, but on Wednesday I went out with the girls for pizza and had a flexible day--but today, I'm back to normal. It's a great theory but very hard to put into practice, as I discovered last week when one muffin led to a huge 3-day overindulgence.
Kayleigh, that's great news, well done!

Yes thank you so much. It's so nice to know that there are more of you out there to give encouragement. I shall be sticking around on this site for a while. My week has been terrible this week. I have gone completely off the rails. I have been sticking to the plan since May and this week I haven't even touched my food diary which I have filled in religiously ever since the start (even when days weren't good). I know I said I was getting back on today but I never did. New day tomorrow and I am going to try really hard to get back on. I already have the food diary partly filled in ready to go - wish me luck!!

Arabica · 12/11/2004 23:23

Sparkerdo you feel OK at the weight you are now? Maybe you need to take an interim target and just chill out for a whileyou've done so well so far but I think some people need time to get used to being in a smaller body.

sparkler1 · 13/11/2004 19:59

Hi Arabica. I never did get back on track. Eaten badly again today as well as yesterday. I'm far from happy with the weight I am at but am pleased with the weight that I have lost so far. The motivation has just gone and I am not sure what can get me going again. I don't want to give up as I know the plan works for me. I think I have just had a bit of a hectic week with one thing or another and grabbing food was convenient. I just have to make sure that I don't get back into bad habits for good. I have my weigh in Monday so going to the meeting should help. Have been out today though and bought some new jeans - a size 16 where before I was in a 20 with an ELASTICATED WAIST! That made me feel better. . How are you getting on this week?
