I'm starting a new thread here as nobody has been posting on our old one(s) for a couple of days. Just wondering how everyone is doing (and if there are any new MNers out there who are also SW members--welcome!)
I've been a member since 15 June and am now just one teensy weensy pound away from my very first stone award. But at times it has been an uphill struggle so it's been great to share my journey with everyone here. Would love to hear from everyone else.

PS - I did find your message, re: your consultant, very amusing. OMG how on earth is she allowed to do the job?!!! I'm sure it doesn't help though when you are depending on her for enouragement. Isn't there another group near you that you could join?

Arabica · 13/11/2004 21:01

I'm doing OK this week but not as well as I would have liked. DH had flu, I had deadlines, managed to be very good during the day but always found myself over-snacking in the evenings and loads today, I think I must have had about 8 quorn sausages already today. I know they're free, but it's stil a bit too much on top of my regular meals and already had 2 apples and 3 muller lights as well. (I am sure nobody snacks on free food like I do).
Re class, I think it would be OK if consultant was big and happy about it, but she's big and whingeing about it...she needs a kick up the (sizeable)arse from her team manager, but I don't think they have as good supervision in the London area as they do in other parts of the UK. But I do think it's the best eating plan around, so I will keep going. Unfortunately there isn't another class at as convenient a time--and I do like seeing the other members and getting their support.
What was your original motivation for losing weight? Is it still important to you--and how would you feel it you put it all back on again? Crikey what a long message!

That's the good thing about SW - you can eat as much free food as you want. When I am sticking to the plan I eat loads of it - in fact so much there isn't room on the food diary sheet to write it all on. I eat loads of mullerlight yogs and savoury rice is a good one that I use as an evening nibble too.
I do want to carry on. It's a good feeling buying smaller clothes as I said yesterday. Gonna do the best I can today but I know tomorrow's meeting will help me on my way again.

Arabica · 14/11/2004 14:16

What's your consultant like? And how many slimmers in your group?

sparkler1 · 14/11/2004 18:19

My consultant is lovely. Very encouraging and very willing to help anytime she can. She has even told us we can phone her in the middle of the night if we need to. I hope no-one would be that unkind. It is quite a large group and everyone gets on very well. We are all going out for a christmas meal soon. Gonna get weighed first and then we are all off to the pub!

Arabica · 15/11/2004 09:20

I like the sound of your group! Ours is friendly but people keep leaving so although I have only been going along since June I am one of the old-timers.

Weight in tonight. Should be interesting after the week I have just had. Just been shopping so fridge is looking healthy ready for a new day tomorrow. Meeting should enourage me tonight. Fingers crossed.

Arabica · 15/11/2004 17:28

Good luck sparkler!

Have just started back at slimming world class last week and have been going well but have ended up with a plaster cast from toe to knee after falling down stairs. Cast should hopefully only be on three weeks and will still go to my class but obviously wont know what I'm losing till I get cast off! Any tips on how to stay motivated?

sparkler1 · 15/11/2004 20:28

Yorkie girl - we don't go to the same class do we??
Put on pound and a half tonight. Not happy but pleased it wasn't anymore. Gonna get back on track tomorrow for definite. Fridge is nicely stocked up so no excuses.

Arabica · 15/11/2004 22:36

Sparkler! That's really good news about your gain. Much smaller than you had expected. Yorkiegirl, hope you got your 2.5st sticker. I know these days they say to new consultants that they should be aiming to be at target and they are supposed to join a class, but the ones who've been consultants for years aren't under any obligation. Loobz, you poor thing. I've never had such a nasty injury so don't have any suggestions about staying motivated, when I got knocked off my bike recently I only had mild whiplash, but I did find it made me want to comfort-eat once I'd got over the inital shock. But I think that's OK so long as you get a lid on it eventually. I don't really care how long it takes me to get to my target so long as I don't go back to the out-of-control eating I was doing before.

Hi Arabica, It's the comfort eating that worries me. I have managed so far to stick with picking at fruit. I have a job that is very pressured and keeps me busy and I'm worried about the boredom when I'm off work. I spoke to my consultant (who is wonderful - been to this class before)and she was saying that she'll weigh me with my plaster on this week so I can see what I'm losing over the next few weeks then get my correct weight when the plaster comes off. Have told the kids to make sure they hide any sweets - just in case!

Arabica · 16/11/2004 10:33

Yes, being bored and/or tired really makes me want to eat. But I am trying to make sure I always have a well-stocked fruit bowl and some nice syn-free stuff in the cupboard for when I absolutely have to eat. I also go to the caff and have something like scrambled or poached eggs on dry toast (I am lucky in that I don't like butter or marge anyway so it doesn't feel like diet food, it feels like a treat). But overall I am doing OK and I keep reminding myself that even though my weight loss is very slow I am still doing great...21lbs to go...and just 4 to get to my club 10 which is my next big goal. I've told myself I can buy something new to wear when I get there but not before. That's cos I find 7lbs too big a target to aim for--I need to have smaller goals than that.

hi.. please help Can anyone please tell me who many sins in a mcvities breakfast bar ????

sparkler1 · 16/11/2004 13:48

Loobz - hang in there. You are in a tricky situation but just think how pleased you will be when the cast comes off and you see that huge weight loss on the scales. Make sure you use it as a good excuse to be waited on too . Arabica you sound like you have so much willpower - good for you. Vonnie - do you go to a SW class? Your consultant should give you a password for the website. There is a syns calculator on there that you can use to work stuff out. You will need the nuritional facts on the packet to type in.

sparkler1 · 16/11/2004 13:51

BTW - I HAVE got back on track today - I know I said that nearly every day last week and I never. Been really good so far. Got 4 pounds to get off for a 2 stone weight loss and I would love to do it before xmas. A bit of extra would be nice too so I can relax over xmas a little too.

Loobz · 16/11/2004 13:59

Tbanks Arabiaca and Sparkler, you are both doing so well - keep it up.
My motivation is the shoes I want for my Christmas night out (never mind anything else - just shoes - yuk what a thought!!!) Have told myself I am not getting them unless I lose half a stone before 23rd December.
Good job Dh ain't here, that was all I went on about in hospital on Saturday morning - Jade green high heels!!! Have plenty fruit in to pick on and have told anyone who plans to visit that they will not get biscuits!!!

Arabica · 16/11/2004 18:13

Oh no--it's weigh in at 6.30pm and although I have done OK this week I don't feel any slimmer and feel like skiving off...but i won't. Had about 40 raisins this afternoon and had already eaten my healthy As and Bs for the day so am too scared to look up the syn value.

OP posts:
Arabica · 16/11/2004 18:14

That should read 100 raisins not 40!

OP posts:
Loobz · 16/11/2004 19:57

Hope you didn't skive off!!! Let's know how you got on. My 'friend' was trying to lead me astray this afternoon by claiming that my plaster cast is a good isead for skiving class and eating chocolate. I haven't succumbed (only cos I don't have chocolate in the house , can't drive with this plaster on and it's a 20 minute walk to the nearest shop - oh and it's raining)Can't even hit the wine because of the painkillers!!! Maybe I can use this to my advantage after all

Arabica · 16/11/2004 21:32

Stayed the same...bit disappointed but it's a new week and I am DETERMINED to reach my club 10 target by Xmas. Quite a nice class as there weren't too many of us.

OP posts:
sparkler1 · 16/11/2004 21:59

Staying the same is good, better than putting on. My weight loss has really slowed down now so I have joined the gym. Went for my induction tonight and have to make sure that I push myself to go. I would like to try at least twice a week if I can get the time to myself.
