I'm starting a new thread here as nobody has been posting on our old one(s) for a couple of days. Just wondering how everyone is doing (and if there are any new MNers out there who are also SW members--welcome!)
I've been a member since 15 June and am now just one teensy weensy pound away from my very first stone award. But at times it has been an uphill struggle so it's been great to share my journey with everyone here. Would love to hear from everyone else.

I joined tonight

Just made a big veg chilli cos am planning on a green day tomorrow

I really need to lose 3 stones (by christmas would be nice .. joking)

Loobz · 18/11/2004 07:50

Got weighed last night and am only up half a pound with my cast on. Consultant has advised me to remember to measure myself as well. Glad I went to class cos I'm still motivated. I'm still worried though that I'll start to comfort eat during the day. I'm so bored and this is only the first week with this cast on!!! I keep thinking abot these green shoes for my Christmas night out - Dh thinks I need locked up - maybe he's right.

sparkler1 · 18/11/2004 10:23

Christie - It's so hard isn't it? How far away from Club 10 are you? I went through the same thing a few weeks ago. Stayed the same weight for three weeks. Was really annoying but had to keep telling myself at least I wasn't putting weight on. That would have been really upsetting for me. Let's hope it's making you feel more motivated this week. Come on girls - we're in this together - we are not alone!!!
Welcome Twiglett. You've chosen a great weight loss plan. (Blimey I should be a consultant shouldn't I? . No really, best one I've been on - and, and ........ and you can have chocolate too!!!
How's things with you Arabica?

sparkler1 · 18/11/2004 10:24

Loobz - Don't forget...........
GREEEEEEEEEEEEEN SHOES

Arabica · 18/11/2004 18:19

Hi everyone, busy with work so no time to post until now. Christie, how many pounds to go until you reach club 10? I have 5, and I really want to get them off by Xmas. On bright note, went to M&S and bra fitter told me I had dropped from a 36DD to a 34D--great because in the style I wanted, that means double hooks not triple! On a not so bright note, just as I was feeling good about having a youngster's bra in my shopping bag instead of a granny hammock, the assistant in Next called me 'dear'!!! Well she was about 14...
Sparkler, you are doing all the right things. Don't worry if you still stay the same when you start the exercise as the benefits can take a while to kick in, especially if a workout makes you extra-hungry. But it's worth it in the end.
Loobz, you can do it, if I can throw DS' leftovers in the bin this morning ANYONE can resist temptation.
BTW maybe we should think about a new thread as this one is so long?

Can I ask a couple of questions

I know you can carry syns forward .. can you do the same with healthy extras?

How long can you save syns up for?

I have been given 3a's and 3 x bs (because I'm breastfeeding) is it bad for breastmilk not to eat them all?

Twiglett - as far as my knowledge of SW goes I don't think you can carry any healthy extras over at all. Only syns that I have heard of. I don't know how it works with breast feeding. I haven't had to look into that one, my days of BF are over.

sparkler1 · 18/11/2004 22:43

Arabica - I went bra shopping a couple of weeks ago. I went down a size but the cup size went up. Not sure what happened there. After losing weight I wasn't too happy but dh was a very happy man!!!!!

Arabica · 19/11/2004 00:10

Thanks for the post Christie! How many pounds are you going to lose by Xmas then? Would you like to go for 5 like me? Then we can put them all back on again over the festive season
Twiglett, officially you aren't even supposed to save your syns although lots of successful SW slimmers do it because it means you can have a big treat like wine or a takeaway once a week. Re Healthy As and Bs, I think you should try and eat them all if you can, as they're rich in nutrients but don't contain loads of calories in the small portions we're allowed.

Sparkler, I got smaller knickers too! No more big pants for me.

Loobz · 19/11/2004 07:50

I had a bad day yesterday and think I used my entire weeks sins in one day! Even the thought of green shoes didn't help. i think I should be locked up for what I'm about to say next but I miss my work and my workmates (even although they do phone me at least twice a day to make sure I'm okay). Think yesterday's problem was lack of organisation. Eldest son, partner and my 2 year old grandson came to visit at 6pm, I hadn't had tea cos I had been feeling a bit yucky with these painkillers and they didn't go away till 8:30 by which time I couldn't be bothered cooking so ate the biggest load of junk. Must try to be organised, think I might bulk cook over the weekend and freeze for next week cos Dh isn't home till end of next week. Think I'm just feeling sorry for myself!

Twiglett · 19/11/2004 10:36

Another question : does it matter if you keep choosing the same healthy extras

eg can all my b's be bread and all my a's cheddar or is that a bad idea?

No, we haven't had the new book in our group. We don't even get the mags or the hi-fi bars, because (according to our consultant) our group isn't big enough to get anything! I think this is pants myself, as there must be at least 60 of us on her register. It sounds like a great book.
Twiglett, I don't think it matters if you have the same things, so long as you don't get bored, because if you get bored you are more likely to want something extra. I always spend my As on soya milk and then some kind of cheese and my Bs are usually bread or sometimes olive oil.
Loobz, sorry to hear about your bad day. Maybe you should stick a picture of those green shoes on your fridge!
I haven't had a brilliant day today either as DS had a play date, the other mum brought chocolate chip shortbread cookies and I couldn't resist. I had one cookie and a cereal bar thing which didn't have any nutritional info but is probably about 15 syns.

Never mind, tomorrow is another day. Had a better day food wise today which is surprising cos I've been in an I feel sorry for myself mood. My friend thinks I should go and buy the shoes but tell everone that I'm not allowed to wear them if I don't lose half a stone. Don't think that would work though - I'd just wear them

sparkler1 · 19/11/2004 23:54

Oh bugger. I have had a bad day. Started out alright then after I picked oldest daughter up from school mayhem began. Food plans went out the window and I have picked at total rubbish ever since. Got youngest daughters birthday party Sunday that should be an interesting day and then her birthday Monday and shall be eating lots of rubbish that day. Oh nooooo! Everything seems to be getting in my way at the moment.

Loobz · 20/11/2004 14:17

My dd (age 15) has just disowned me! She came to shops with me to help because I have plaster cast on and I insisted that I go try one of the green shoes on I want for christmas - One green shoe (which was gorgeous) and one great big plaster cast! She walked out of the shop and left me - met friend though and chatted to her so I had the last laugh. Have just made a great big panful of quorn chilli and rice - syn free!!! I will have these shoes (and no plaster cast) for Christmas!!!

Twiglett · 20/11/2004 18:49

First red day today .. don't think I like it .. can't work out what to eat for snacky stuff (not as easy as green) and I'm developing a headache too

Loobz · 20/11/2004 20:27

If you're headachy, make sure you're drinking enough. I must admit I don't do red very often - I always feel hungry on red days whereas with green I can eat till I'm stuffed

sparkler1 · 20/11/2004 23:26

I find green easier too. Trying to think what I do have on a red day. Prawns are a favourite of mine and mussels. Warm bacon salad too. Have bought the slimming world original day free recipies. Have tried a few and enjoyed. The other week I cooked up a chicken and had that sliced up read to nibble too. My snacks are usually ryvita minis or hi-fis - or a two finger kitkat 5.5 syns.

sparkler1 · 22/11/2004 09:59

I am going to miss SW tonight for the first time since I started. It's dd2's 3rd birthday today and we are going out later with dd1 has finished school - probably won't get there on time. Should be an interesting week. I really find staying to group a big help. Should be an interesting week. Might need you guys to give me a bit of extra encouragement this week.

Arabica · 22/11/2004 11:57

It's hard when you have to miss group isn't it. I might have to do the same myself this week because I have a party to go to. But I'm worried that if I don't go even just for the weigh-in, I will lose momentum. I'd had an OK week until yesterday, when I went to a kids' party and everything except the crudites was in a pastry case, deep-fried or had sugar in it. Ate about 30 cherry tomatoes and half a cucumber--then gave in and had 3 mini-samosas, 2 onion bhajis, 3 pieces of sesame prawn toast, a big slice of birthday cake, 2 biscuits and 2 chocolatey cereal bar things. I've guesstimated 45 syns. And because I haven't done any exercise this week feel I will have put weight on for sure. Really annoyed because I could have resisted.
