Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Sorry to hear you're still suffering, @overweightcat Sad Hope the pain passes soon and you can get back on the exercise.

Hi @ttigerlilly - I'm postpartum too, I gave birth in October. It's changed my shape, but after 4 months of losing weight, I'm now lighter than I was pre-pregnancy and back in my size 10 jeans. You can do it!

Oh no, @KeirStarmerDonkeyFarmer! The psychological side of things is so tricky, isn't it? As I said to a PP though - well done for getting back on the wagon - lots of people don't!

Not much to update here - plodding along, still doing well with daily calorie deficits (although today will be a challenge - I always struggle with weekends) and despite that, the scales still aren't moving! I was hoping to reach my target weight before September, but it's not going to happen at this rate.

Indecisivelurcher · 11/07/2020 16:08

Thanks for the food suggestions @CalmConfident, appreciated. I think we're going to have to look into more meat and fish meals and I'll sub myself in something veggie. To be honest with the kids home in lockdown we've been eating more meat anyway because they prefer straight up meat and 2 veg.

Today I declined Swiss roll, and went for a run!

GreenBudgie · 12/07/2020 09:21

I'm 1 pound down. I'll continue on 1400 cals.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/07/2020 09:25

I'm getting new scales! Still the same weight! I've been logging everything I eat on MFP, my milk in coffee etc. Weighing my food etc.

Still exactly the same weight! Ran for 40 mins yesterday too. Eating how I am now I used to drop a couple of pounds a week easily.

My husband has offered a glimmer of hope, he said he weighed a parcel on them last week and when he took it to the post office it was a lot lighter 😂

Yesterday I had a slice of nimble bread with 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast. A Skyr yogurt for lunch and a huge bowl of broccoli for dinner. That was it.

I emailed my oncologist last week and I should start my HRT this week, so fingers crossed that helps!

GreyGardens88 · 12/07/2020 10:09

Yesterday;

B: Black Coffee
L: Sainsburys meal deal (Cheese Ploughmans, Walkers, Peach ice tea)
D: Two small sausage rolls I picked up in Tesco reduced section for 19p at half 9 last night after having a few vodkas Blush

I walked 11k steps yesterday so hopefully that burnt off nearly all of the meal deal

No more alcohol until next Friday now!

PowerslidePanda · 12/07/2020 10:27

After not moving for ages, the scales suddenly dropped nearly 2lb overnight! I'm a daily weigher, so not counting my chickens yet - it could easily be up again tomorrow. But for today, I'm happy Smile

overweightcat · 12/07/2020 16:05

Hi.
My backs quite a bit better. Had a few glasses of prossecco last night and because I'm a lightweight I'm feeling it today. We went on a bike ride with DCs this morning and didn't come back till around 3pm ish with snack breaks and a sit down in between but hope to have burnt something calorie wise.

Had a bit of omelette with potato and spinach this morning, didn't fancy much of a lunch just had a few crackers with hummus.

Looking forward to dinner, meatballs and pasta tonight.

clevername · 12/07/2020 20:41

Hi everyone. I've been a bit rubbish at posting on here for the last few days but I've enjoyed catching up on everyone's news.

I really, really enjoyed going out for pizza and chippy chips on Thursday for DP's birthday, and then home for a modest(ish) slice of vegan chocolate cake. I've been a bit lax on the old MFP the last few days but I'll get back to rigid monitoring tomorrow (fast day!).

I'm trying to focus on being more positive in general so I'm going to ignore any guilty feelings and concentrate on the good things - the scales still say 8st 6, so my indulgence hasn't made me pile it all back on (yet), and my clothes are definitely fitting me lots better (I put on a pair of size 12 Primark straight leg jeans (the old fashioned stiff denim type with no stretch at all) that used to be a bit snug and they're pretty loose on me now). I'm going to renew my efforts to make myself exercise this week (I did one... one 10 minute ab workout last week Grin)

GreenBudgie · 13/07/2020 08:15

Congratulations to everyone with no longer tight clothes.
@Chesneyhawkes1 I hope you are well and that HRT and new scales give you a boost.
@overweightcat Glad the back twinges are going away.

I did 25 minute weights last night. A weight training buddy has challenged to to push hard at the weights 3 times a week for 28 days, he will then review any progress and review my routine.

Plancina · 13/07/2020 08:29

Went out last night and overdid the booze - won’t be weighing myself til tomorrow Grin somehow I don’t have a hangover, but I do feel tired as I didn’t sleep as well as usual. I have a PT session today which may be a challenge!

overweightcat · 13/07/2020 08:57

Well after doing ok yesterday DP went out and brought home chicken nuggets - I can't stay away from them Blush
But didn't feel sluggish or super full after them which is better than nothing.

Did 20mins workout this morning, showered, and got DCs ready for the day. Got some shopping to do and general cleaning and DC wrangling today so hoping to stay occupied for most of the day away from the snack cupboard.
Just making a to do list.

Weight over the past couple of days seems to be staying anywhere around 64.8kg - 65.3kg so making little progress but progress nevertheless.

Hoping to stick to the no sweets thing!

GreenBudgie · 14/07/2020 07:29

1400 calories food, 15 minutes bodyweight exercise yesterday.

Hope you are all doing well!

Indecisivelurcher · 14/07/2020 11:32

I think i have identified the source of my issues, and it's sleep. My 5yo Dd is not a consistent sleeper. She slept through for 3 nights, I felt pretty good, I swerved snacks, I met my 1200 calorie limit, I did some exercise. Last night she had me up twice and then up for the day at 5:50. I feel like crap. I had good carbs for breakfast but lots of calories, homemade granary bread, spreadable butter, crunchy peanut butter, banana. I've just snuck 2 biscuits and a maoam sweet with my brew. It's a slippery slope. Suggestions, anyone?

Indecisivelurcher · 14/07/2020 11:39

As in, what can I eat that will give me a pick up but not throw me well over my calories?

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 14/07/2020 13:09

Hello indecisive (and congratulations to those whose clothes are feeling looser - I find that is a more reliable method of charting progress than those slippery scales) and how about an apple (a sweet one, like Pink Lady) for a bit of sugar and some nuts (Brazil or almonds are my favourite) for some protein?

I have been feeling quite demotivated over the last few days - a migraine knocked me out one day, and generally I haven't felt much like exercising or cooking imaginative meals. But I have done quite a lot of gardening and cracked the back of some jobs there and yesterday I did a good workout and stretch, so matters are improving. I will take a decent walk today and do another workout.

GreenBudgie · 14/07/2020 18:17

@Indecisivelurcher I completely understand how chronic tiredness makes you crave sugar. I was speed munching custard creams some days when I was up every 2 hours with Parent for the first 9 months. I found having a hot drink with 1 teaspoon of sugar helped. I'd wait 20 mins after drinking it, and if I was still hungry have a weighed portion of seeds/nuts or a slice of toast.

carrottopper · 14/07/2020 22:28

@Indecisivelurcher I hear you!!! I was up from 2:30-4ish with my youngest. She is normally pretty good but last night was awful and I'm knackered. I've eaten a kinder bar, 4 biscuits and a magnum today!!!! Sleep deprivation definitely makes me worse

PowerslidePanda · 14/07/2020 22:42

Glad your back has improved and you're feeling up to workouts again, @overweightcat

Nice to see you, @clevername!

Good work on the weights, @GreenBudgie - it seems like a great way to tone up!

@Indecisivelurcher - I definitely eat more bad foods when sleep deprived. At the moment, when I feel I need junk food, I have a Cadbury's finger biscuit. Only 20 calories, but enough to keep the urges at bay!

Sorry you've been a bit down, @BorsetshireBlueBalls. I imagine gardening actually burns a fair few calories though!

My drop on the scales on Sunday wasn't just a fluctuation - hurray! I've had a few days where I've done better than my targets, so hoping the next pound will disappear fairly quickly. I'm a bit disheartened about my appearance... it's definitely an improvement on where I started, but not what I imagined I'd look like at this weight. I don't feel slim. Trying to remind myself that I'm still only a couple of pounds less than "overweight" at the moment, so hopefully by the time I reach my goal weight, it'll be more what I had in mind.

GreenBudgie · 15/07/2020 06:17

@BorsetshireBlueBalls Gardening and walking are good for the mind, though I've been locked in mortal combat with aphids on runner beans for the last two weeks, they are maddening!

@PowerslidePanda Thanks for the encouragement. Take photos once a week to track your progress. A camera is an impartial observer, it does show changes.

I need to bring my digital scales from home. Parent's
30 plus year old manual ones jump around by 4 pounds depending on which part of the floor they are on.

1400calories yesterday and 15 mins bodyweight exercise. I can do 30 consecutive push ups now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Indecisivelurcher · 15/07/2020 08:41

30 push ups, power to you! I can only do them from my knees...

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 15/07/2020 09:33

30 push-ups! go budgie! I have been doing more core work and trying to encourage my husband to do the same, as he is recovering from a running injury. A stronger core is supposed to help guard against injury. I like the ballet/pilates workouts for this reason (among others). My flexibility through the hips and hamstrings is not improving very quickly but I can only assume it would be worse were I not trying!

Aphids, yes! My cotoneaster is badly affected - I'm spraying with a dilute mixture of Castile soap and vinegar, but if that doesn't work, I'm getting the chemicals out, sorry, organo-heads. It's been satisfying to prune and weed and sweep though, and get ideas for filling in some of the gaps come the autumn.

overweightcat · 15/07/2020 13:00

Hi all, I find myself a bit in and out of these threads recently but plodding along IRL.

Only managed a couple of 20 min workouts this week then toddler had a bad dream last night and was up 3+ times then ended up in our bed, kept touching my face in the dark and wanting kisses to make sure I was there which is adorable but I didn't have it in me to crawl out of bed this morning when my alarm went so we both stayed in bed until about 8am when DC 1 got up.

Roughly sticking to MFP but not super strict, just being more mindful of the foods I do eat - no sweets/cake and portion sizes. I'm making a bigger effort to make myself a more substantial lunch or breakfast if I'm hungry rather than snack on light stuff like crackers and hummus and then want something else after.

Scales are slowly moving in the right direction, anywhere between 64.4 and 64.8kg first thing in the morning past few days so moving under than 65 mark! 65.5kg fully dressed this afternoon which is ok.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 15/07/2020 15:10

I'm still plodding on. Recording everything I eat. Ran 3.5 miles Monday. Yesterday I walked 8.6 miles. Started doing weights every day too, got an app for weight loss programme.

The scales still have not budged. Although I do look slimmer.

I sat in the car and ate a protein yogurt for lunch whilst DH scoffed a KFC yesterday, so I expect some weight loss pay back 😭

That's great @Chesneyhawkes1 I don't really run anymore just sticking to home workouts ATM but I could only just about manage 2.8miles when I did Blush

Salmon, quinoa cooked in stock with roasted broccoli florets, peas and sweet corn tonight. Still full 2hrs later so hoping that's a good sign.
