Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Been rubbish on the exercise today and yesterday, although Sunday was good. EAting pretty well but today is son's birthday and I have made a chocolate cake to which I am about to add the chocolate ganache. No way am I putting in the work of making it and not having a slice. Rest of the day has been saladtastic. Will absolutely walk 6k and workout tomorrow. Haven't weighed myself for a few days, and want to hold off until the end of the week - hoping to hit 60kg.

Plancina · 09/06/2020 19:20

@overweightcat I could kiss you! If it weren’t banned due to CV19!
My PT said something similar, he has said give it another couple of weeks and also reminded me that it is impossible that I am gaining fat, as I am in a deficit and working out 6 times a week, so therefore I am making progress even if it isn’t showing on the scale.
I’m hoping for a loss once my period has been and gone, it’s now very late which is super annoying. In the meantime I’ve been good on food today:
Breakfast: all bran, 1/2 banana, Greek yoghurt and sliced pear
Lunch: tofu salad with lentils, leaves, peppers, radishes and carrot, 1/2 wholemeal pitta and 30g hummus.
Snack: 1/2 pitta and 1tsp peanut butter
Dinner: vegetable paella with fake chicken

I’ve done a full body workout (33 mins plus 5 min warmup) and an hour of brisk walking. I am determined!!!!

PowerslidePanda · 09/06/2020 21:28

That's a nice thought, @overweightcat! I most definitely have some flab to be firmed up Grin

Enjoy the cake, @BorsetshireBlueBalls (I definitely would!)

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 10/06/2020 11:49

Cake was very nice indeed (but now there is cake in the house, which needs eating - will have to send a big chunk of it to son's girlfriend's household). Despite cake, I have managed to hold my weight down to 60.5kg, which means I have lost 4.4kg or nearly 7% of body weight since I started monitoring it sometime back in the 19th century. I walked 7k this morning and did a nice stretch on returning, so feeling quite good. Hungry, but virtuous! Need to tidy front garden - we have a stag beetle living in a decaying tree stump, which is nice, but still slightly freaky on a warm night when he flies around looking for a laydeee to DTD with. Like having a tiny devil in the garden.

Flippetydip · 10/06/2020 12:23

Afternoon all. I had a better day yesterday after a crappy day on Tuesday. Managed a three mile run at lunchtime which felt great to do. Also managed to fast until 1330 and then didn't anything after 1930 so I'm getting there. Just need to be a bit.more.disciplined!

Lurkingforawhile · 10/06/2020 12:24

@borsetshireblueballs the less said about my progress the better, but I do love the bit about the stag beetle. We had one visiting the other day and it was huge!

Plancina · 10/06/2020 13:25

My period is so late I’m starting to wonder if I could be pregnant even though DP has had a vasectomy! Apparently it does happen? My boobs are huge and there just doesn’t seem to be any sign of AF

lorisparkle · 10/06/2020 18:40

Oh my goodness @Plancina !

overweightcat · 10/06/2020 18:59

Have been saving myself all day with my cals as OH is making us a 3 course anniversary dinner and the words pancetta Mac and cheese as a side dish were mentioned

I have 800 cals spare for starter, main, dessert and wine so fingers crossed. ( I know I will most likely go over in the fat/sugar/carb departments but hey ho )

Did a 15 min workout this morning followed by a 5 min ab blaster.
So far had a couple of coffees, some lentil soup for lunch and snuck a few quavers earlier

45 min workout awaiting me in the morning!

Gosh @Plancina You will have to keep us up to date Shock

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 10/06/2020 19:05

I'm trying to do 16:8. I can stick to fasting hours easily but still caught out by too much snacking. Am total emotional eater. Went a bit overboard today and a bit carb heavy. Going to the shops tomorrow to make sure I have lots of healthy snacking options in so I don't fall off the wagon tomorrow.

DS goes back to school on Monday which will make it easier to find time to do exercise. (DS's walking pace is set to dawdle so burning calories is impossible when he's in tow.)

Plancina · 10/06/2020 19:23

It would be classic for me - the minute I actually start exercising and eating less to fall pregnant 😅

I did a HIIT 20 min workout plus 20 min run and 1hr walk (meant to run for longer but the HIIT had knackered me).
Food has been okay and now I need to resist the wine!

clevername · 10/06/2020 21:14

Wow @Plancina! I have to say, with all this talk of late periods I was beginning to wonder if there might be a thread baby on the way!!

I've had an OK couple of days. Another pound down on the scales this morning (whoop!) but I'm currently in the middle of a full-blown pringles binge. I Just. Can't. Stop.

Lurkingforawhile · 10/06/2020 22:27

I'm just so bored at the moment. Usually I have something to look forward to (holiday, day out, horse riding) but there's nothing, and it's so monotonous! I need to find myself some motivation. I can't use office clothes though as we've been told it's 6-12 months before we're back. Anyone got any ideas for motivation?

annabell22 · 11/06/2020 07:05

Very late to the party, but can I join? I feel like I'm on a permanent weight loss journey with no end in sight. It's taken me 6 months to lose 6lbs!! I'd still like to lose another 7-10lbs. I'm working from home but walking or running every day and I fast until midday at least. I need DH to go back to work to bring an end to the fancy hot chocolates he makes me with the milk frother on his Costa-would-be-jealous coffee machine.

bez91 · 11/06/2020 07:44

@Plancina ooooh. I know there is some people who suffer with a disrupted menstrual cycle when they change their exercising habits and there is research to support this - so if you're upping the exercise from 'normal' this may be why?

The whole point of me loosing a few pounds is in preparation for TTC #2, come off the pill a month ago but my cycle has been all over the place since having my first and still nothing so I'm hoping the exercise is the reason for my period not coming rather than my anatomy not working as it should do!

overweightcat · 11/06/2020 10:19

Hi @annabell22 !

So my morning didn't go as planned, at all.
But the anniversary dinner by OH last night was very successful I didn't stuff my face but still went over my cals with the wine and dessert but I'm going to let myself off and not treat myself on Saturday to make up for it - his food was worth it.
The wine took its toll though, I rolled out of bed about 25 mins ago stuffed my face with a falafel and some garlic bread from yesterday BlushBlushBlush and I'm currently nursing a coffee and a headache still in my bathrobe in my bedroom with DCs playing so OH can have his work zoom downstairs.

We missed the 40min morning workout but I'm going to do it tomorrow rather than my planned 20min one.
Right now I'm just focusing on getting a shower, pull myself together and have lots of water to shift this headache.I'm going to log the impulse falafel and garlic bread on MFP and plan my food today so I don't go over my cals. Might try to have a longish walk later with Ddog.

The perks of being a lightweight 😷

Lurkingforawhile · 11/06/2020 10:26

@overweightcat being a lightweight is good! I only need two glasses of wine (and therefore not many calls) and I'm done for the night

Lurkingforawhile · 11/06/2020 10:26

cals

Plancina · 11/06/2020 13:00

@Lurkingforawhile ... I have some clothes I want to fit back into that I love and also some photos of myself at previous weight on my phone that I look at, it feels more realistic to me than photos of insta fitness people!
I am also getting married as soon as they allow socially distant weddings, even if it is just us and the registrar so I want to look good as we will get her to take some photos etc.
I haven’t had any alcohol since Saturday, trying to keep it to Friday and Sat only, tomorrow will share a bottle of fizz with DP and Sat probs share a bottle of red. Hoping that won’t ruin my deficit for the week!

overweightcat · 11/06/2020 13:22

That's a great point @Lurkingforawhile at least there's a perk to being a lightweight Grin

The impulse falafel and garlic bread plus coffee brought my "breakfast" cals to a bit under 260.
Making carrot and coriander soup for lunch going to have it with a slice of whole meal bread so that will be about 300-350cals
Then some leftovers from last night with vegetables for dinner I think so should be about 400-450 or less.

Leaves some wiggle room for another coffee and maybe a sneaky snack as a hangover pick me up Brew

PowerslidePanda · 12/06/2020 19:57

This thread's been quiet today - how's everyone doing?

Yesterday I had a tough day with the kids, so it was chocolate and alcohol in the evening! But back on track today, and the scales have finally moved! 135 lb now - 9 lb to go.

lorisparkle · 12/06/2020 20:04

Been a bit lazy on the exercise front and struggling to keep my calories down . I am really struggling with sleep at the moment so find that does not help. Hopefully will feel a bit more motivated over the weekend!

Lurkingforawhile · 12/06/2020 21:37

Not great. Today (and most days) not great. But not going up, and really I'm eating too much and too badly to go down so to be expected. Made dauphinoise potatoes for dinner!

overweightcat · 12/06/2020 22:41

Stuck to 1200cals today and did a 40min toning workout + 5min abs.

Weigh in tonight about 20mins ago with no clothes scales showed 67.5kg down from 68.5kg last week.

Jumped on the scale at random times this week though with and without clothes as I'm impatient like that and it fluctuated from 67.2 one morning to 68.4 another day later in the day.
Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and stick to weekly weigh ins at the same time from now on otherwise I will drive myself crazy.

Struggling to find snacks that don't contain any fat in though. Logging on MFP I always seem to go over or just hit the fats target with just sticking to meals and no snacks. I'd love some options for very low fat or no fat snacks though that are fairly filling if such a thing exists.
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Plancina · 13/06/2020 00:20

I haven’t weighed myself today, still no period and feeling exhausted. Had a 1 hour PT session which almost killed me and only managed 9,000 steps as a result. Feeling glum!
