Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Can I join please?? I have to do something!
I lost 6 stone between 2016-2018 but have let 2 stone creep back on. I know that it will all go back on if I don't reign it in.
Today I am 10st 10. I want to get to 9st 7, 8st 12 was what I got to but I don't think that's maintainable for me. I'm 40 in October and am determined to be feeling fighting fit by then!

Lurkingforawhile · 08/06/2020 09:05

Hi @SierraHotel. Really well done on your weight loss in 2016-18. That must have required huge amounts of discipline. What's your plan for this year?

I'm doing 16:8 and using MFP for cals. Had a terrible weekend though thanks to a delivery from a local baker!

This week I'm going to keep going and also work on improving my sleep 😴

SierraHotel · 08/06/2020 09:28

Hi @Lurkingforawhile 👋
I lost it by counting calories, sticking to 1200-1500 per day and by doing 10miles a day on my exercise bike. I'm absolutely gutted that I'm undoing all my hard work by falling back into old habits. But I'm determined! I'm going to try to stick to 1200 calories a day, I'm furloughed at the moment so am taking the dog for huge walks every day, but then I've always done that so I know that it's what I'm eating that's the issue - obviously 😂. No exercise bike this time though so I'm going to have to be extra careful. Talk to me about 16:8, is that eat within 16 hours and then nothing for 8?

Lurkingforawhile · 08/06/2020 09:43

Hi @SierraHotel - it's the other way round so I only eat for 8 hours in a day. I use the zero app and press start fast after dinner. Usually at about 7pm but last night it was 8pm so eating at midday today!

SierraHotel · 08/06/2020 09:48

😂 see that's how my mind works, "eat for 16 hours and not for 8? How hard can that be?"
I might try that you know, I am terrible for snacking between tea and bedtime.

overweightcat · 08/06/2020 10:06

Black to 1200cals today after a bit of a cheat weekend (well Saturday with a Chinese takeaway). Did a 20min calorie burn workout this morning and dragged DP into it too Grin

Won't be adding cals burned into MFP though.
Scales seem to have gone up from 68.5kg to 68.9kg on Friday and haven't shifted since so feeling rather crap... I also look rather crap today with huge eye bags and my face looks droopy and I feel under the weather Sad

Not eaten anything yet but had a coffee. Only just starting to feel hungry though.
DP and DCs will be having leftover homemade chicken in black bean sauce with egg fried rice for lunch and I'll be making carrot and coriander soup for mine.
Might just have a boiled egg to tie me over.

Flippetydip · 08/06/2020 13:18

Had a good weekend exercise-wise but totally bombed on the food front. Also today was planning on fasting but haven't, which is rubbish!

Tomorrow's another day.

I'm still being good (mostly - less so on weekends), but really fed up of it today. I want to binge on junk food! Sad

Bathbedandbeyond · 08/06/2020 13:21

Me! I’m in. Too much chocolate and alcohol through lockdown. I’m about to go on a bike ride with the DC.

clevername · 08/06/2020 14:04

@Plancina - I'm certain I put on a few pounds around my period. Since tracking my weight for the last couple of months I've really noticed a sizable hike on the scales around that time. And I'm not eating more either (which seems to be the normal explanation for period weight gain, according to Google).

@PowerslidePanda - totally with you. Feeling bored of it today. Still got enough determination to see me through (I hope!) but so, so bored.

I'm fasting today and have so far eaten a can of tesco 'Smoky Lentil and red pepper' soup (182 calories). I'll have a scrambled egg and 2 rashers of quorn fake bacon (facon!) and some packet dal makhani for my dinner later (about 250 calories).

Despite my determination that this would be the week that I start exercising, I haven't managed to make myself yet. Maybe later. Or tomorrow Grin.

Plancina · 08/06/2020 14:49

@clevername we love facon here Grin I am really hoping to see a dip on the scales once AF has actually put in an appearance

clevername · 08/06/2020 15:50

@Plancina lush isn't it? Fingers crossed you'll see the dip ASAP!

I am FLAGGING today. Just had an apple. Yay Hmm.

clevername · 08/06/2020 15:50

MUST. KEEP. MY. EYE. ON. THE. PRIZE.

overweightcat · 08/06/2020 15:55

Ordered some skinny syrup to try as I'm missing nice coffees and I thought hey 0 calories 0 sugar and that so great for low cal weight loss! I've just made one and I'm very disappointed Envy

Lurkingforawhile · 08/06/2020 15:59

Had an almost complete failure today. Slept badly, managed to fast til 12 but since then have filled my face with sugary and salty food (including facon bits) and now I feel sick. I will be good for the rest of the day and remind myself that rubbish food makes you feel rubbish!

Plancina · 08/06/2020 16:04

My knee is complaining but I really don’t want to stop exercising - hoping if I just take it slow and steady I’ll be okay. 5km run on the cards plus an upper body workout. 💪🏼

KeirStarmerDonkeyFarmer · 08/06/2020 16:14

remind myself that rubbish food makes you feel rubbish!

This is the thing! It’s so hard! Why do our bodies crave something that will make us feel ill? My friend says she can’t drink alcohol because she never wants just one. I can take or leave alcohol, and never drink much in one sitting. But biscuits! I can’t have one biscuit, I have to have five (or more...). But the sugar rush afterwards is horrible. So I have to have no biscuits. Which is not very sustainable long term.

PowerslidePanda · 08/06/2020 17:58

Sorry to hear that lots of other people are struggling today too (I wonder why it is? Normally I'm more motivated on Mondays than the rest of the week, so this doesn't bode well!) But nice to know I'm not alone!

clevername · 08/06/2020 18:39

There's obviously something in the air today. I've decided that I'm going to declare today an Official Bad Day.

Literally can't wait until beef time!

clevername · 08/06/2020 18:40

BEDtime!!! I'm a vegetarian, ffs

lorisparkle · 08/06/2020 18:59

I was going to have a good day today until we saw that ds3's homework was to make banana pancakes and he decided to cover the stack of pancakes he made with honey! If would have been rude not to eat twoGrin

PowerslidePanda · 09/06/2020 08:26

My total calorie deficit for the past week was 4,200 - so that should be a reduction of 1.2 lb on the scales. But they haven't moved. Grrr....

Plancina · 09/06/2020 12:16

I’m the same @PowerslidePanda - average calories across week 1614 per day and average cals burned 2,235. I’ve gained 500g. Literally weighed every mouthful.

PowerslidePanda · 09/06/2020 13:21

Oh no - putting in the work and gaining weight as a result is really unfair! Hopefully it's just daily fluctuations - will weigh again tomorrow

overweightcat · 09/06/2020 18:38

@PowerslidePanda @Plancina remember muscle weights more than fat!
If you're working out a lot you will probably see a difference in the mirror before you see it on the scales.

When I started off running 3x a week + 2 x45min workouts there was no shift on the scales for a good month or more, I started noticing that I looked different but the scales were still firmly at 73/74kg.
I think it was all my flabby bits actually being worked and firming up Grin as I couldn't manage 2 burpees and after my first workout I had to have a sit down and stayed motionless on the sofa for a good 20mins whilst the room spun away.
At about a month and a week in of weekly weigh ins with no change I went on the scales one morning and I was 72kg barely a few days later it was 69kg! I think it was water retention and initial shock to the system before the first bits of weight started melting off.

Now firmly at 68.5 kg (well 68.1 first thing in the morning but jumps up later in the day) but I've eased on the running as life's a bit hectic again and I'm having off days with my calorie counting...

So far still under my 1200cals today though but haven't had dinner yet, hoping there will be enough left for a little treat after Blush
